Govts. only hire and fund scientists who are willing to give them the results they want. The rest are blacklisted, fired from govt. or university jobs and never given any grant money to do their research.

There actually is a separate method, and any honest scientist knows about it. The divide lies in the social sciences which is more prescriptive than objective.

We are taught the scientific method for how to objectively observe nature. If you instead want to create a policy prescription, you typically follow a different method.

  1. Identify range of policy prescriptions. Figure out what you are willing to support

  2. Collect studies that support or reject prescriptions.

  3. Determine chief prescription. Weigh most persuasive prescription based on the data.

  4. Record a set of stories supporting the prescription.

  5. Organize the stories to find patterns of correlation.

  6. Collect data on the correlative pattern found in the stories.

  7. Present data as proof of correlation as proof of narrative as argument for chief prescription.

This method is used by all kinds of nefarious people, from people in academia to people claiming to be Christians. It's fundamentally dishonest, since it's biased from the beginning. But it's not meant to convince new people, it's meant to solidify people who already believe.

I know Christians use this method, too, because they lack faith in God, and they are afraid of doubt. It's like calling out into the void. You're afraid of the possibility someone unexpected replies. But if you have faith in God, you know that he knows what you are going to find when you call into the void, and it does not shake Him. So it should not shake you.

  1. to 5. = It is called Fauci Funding Scheme, first invented by him for HIV with the support of foundations, the goverment and pharma.

"Spring 1985with no drugs or viable vaccine candidates available to treat or prevent the growing epidemic, Fauci approaches then-nIh Director James wyngaarden about quadrupling funds to jump-start efforts to combat the elusive virus. to handle the escalating research efforts, nIAID later creates the Division of AIDS within nIAID. these moves are criticized by some scientists, but Fauci’s decision is later justified as the epidemic evolves into one of the worst in history."

navycuda 2 points ago +2 / -0

Call them what they are, Communists.

War_Hamster 14 points ago +14 / -0

Absolutely, and the private foundations are even worse.

Inquisitor_Corvus 9 points ago +10 / -1

The day colleges started taking grant money for their science departments is the day pure science died. Every student applies for that sweet sweet grant money.

resoluteAction 6 points ago +6 / -0

Billionaires need to learn to reign in their dumb trophy wives. The wives almost always enter the cult of socialism/communism and then indoctrinate their children. Then because women outlive men, they inherit all the money and create foundations that are totally against the principles of their husband's who generated the wealth. Ford and Rockefeller foundation anyone?

DinosOnNoahsArk 11 points ago +11 / -0

For those that don't know, good scientists have been corrupted and done malicious things for a long time.

Look into Piltdown man. Respected men manufactured it to promote the religion of Evolution. Piltdown man was taught about in schools and people did research papers on it and all kinds of faith was put into it.

Until much later when it was proven to be entirely fraudulent:

StraightWhiteCisMale 10 points ago +10 / -0

The really good and decent scientists don't last in academia or the government, even if they don't get fired, because they can't stomach the dishonesty, corruption, and indoctrination. Dr. Douglas Frank is a classic example.

Winning_Bigly 11 points ago +11 / -0

Adding to that point, if your research butts heads with their desired outcomes, it won’t be published because peer review won’t accept it.

robob2700 1 point ago +1 / -0

I went to school for Environmental Science, and spent a couple years after college doing field research. I co-authored a couple of articles in a "prestigious" journal. This is one of the big reasons I quit and now work skilled labor.

556762 9 points ago +9 / -0

Every real scientist knows of "p hacking" and that most studies cannot be reproduced. The whole industry is highly corrupt because everyone is fighting for funding.

FUSnowflake 19 points ago +19 / -0

Do the Harvard Cardiologist who lost it all, after someone double-checked one of his papers and found one of his patients was supposed to have become a father at age 8.

Or look up the billions in criminal penalties assessed to Big Pharma companies in the past. Or Johnson & Johnson defining a small shell company for claims against them for asbestos in talcum powder. They let that shell company go bankrupt and victims got the shaft.

...or do tobacco scientists or Exxon scientists on oil spills. "Trust the science!"

Dictator_Bob 10 points ago +10 / -0

Or Bayer, knowingly infecting children with HIV to save money.

thallos 2 points ago +2 / -0

Dictator_Bob 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah. Children intentionally infected with HIV for money, no other reason. Just revenues.

https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24785997/ <-- irrefutable, documented, already court fought and won, and admitted to.

Bayer is still in business. Why?

anon073121 7 points ago +7 / -0

The tabacco science has flipped on it's head. There is no support that second hand smoke is really an issue but they touted that lie all through the 2000s. Just 10 seconds of second hand smoke and you can get cancer. They then put cigars into the you are high risk for insurance despite there being any evidence that a moderate cigar smoker will develop cancer.

Just goes to show you what ever the narrative that makes cash is the one you push.

TomWolfsTinyDick 10 points ago +10 / -0

"Tell me the agenda and I'll show you the science."

BadManOrange 6 points ago +6 / -0

I'd imagine second hand smoke is awful if you live in the same house as a smoker who smokes in the house.

Jestre 2 points ago +2 / -0

They looked for that too. No evidence.

anon073121 2 points ago +2 / -0

This. You have a better chance of proving living in a structure that has asbestos caused your cancer then second hand smoke.

resoluteAction 2 points ago +2 / -0

The mucous system literally evolved in a population of apes that needed to be able to survive forest fires.

The plastics and pesticide industries seem to be the primary culperats for all forms of cancer.

Prussian_Pepe 2 points ago +2 / -0

And it's almost like the same Demon was behind both of them, and their rise to power and prestige.

anon073121 1 point ago +1 / -0

Damn hitting with some real deep thinking LOL.

Rise_Up 1 point ago +1 / -0

If anything, wouldn't Big Pharma/Tobacco be more inclined to downplay the risks of second hand smoke?

anon073121 1 point ago +1 / -0

When the flip happened and the non-profit info adds got more revenue then the tobacco companies and the tobacco companies got hit with all the fines and stuff. Lobbying went the direction of the non-profits the propaganda shifted.

Vaping was touted as a good replacement for a short period. Once again the non-profits had to keep getting their cash flow so vape became the enemy. Their primary source of evidence was a bunch of vape deaths that were later linked to a kid making his own THC pens with a fluid mixture he got from China that contained Fentanyl. They tried to sell that as if it was vuse pens but it was really off market China crap and a kid who wanted to make money that it all got tied too.

Medicine can't back it anymore because the truth is out you can get cancer. They also probably don't back it because it isn't 100% you will get cancer.

Who knows in 10-15 years you may see commercials about people saying I took the Covid-35 vaxx and now I can't stop shaking and this whole vaxx crap nonsense will flip on it's head.

“If the natural tendencies of mankind are so bad that it is not safe to permit people to be free, how is it that the tendencies of these organizers are always good? Do not the legislators and their appointed agents also belong to the human race? Or do they believe that they themselves are made of a finer clay than the rest of mankind?” ― Frederic Bastiat, The Law

This guy didn't take the shot! Ph.D's are the most hesitant group. Because they're smart.

Horkers4Trump 10 points ago +10 / -0

Ph.Ds aren't necessarily smart. I know too many to believe that.

But they understand the process. They've gone through it.

That's why they don't trust the vaccine, because it exists outside of the process.

Even those that think the vaccine could be beneficial don't trust it because it violates the process.

Skogin 4 points ago +4 / -0

Dejectedhead 5 points ago +5 / -0

Can confirm. Scientists are people too.

CaptainSmirk 5 points ago +5 / -0

Same with surgeons - it's all about the Benjamins.

DestroyerofCobwebs 5 points ago +5 / -0

The parallels between modern scientists and pre-reformation Catholic priests are too numerous to mention.

When a group of people starts loudly insisting that they are worthy of your un-examined trust and faith, you can be sure they're trying to rob or enslave you, or both.

All1000wombats 5 points ago +5 / -0

Humans are humans. We're all flawed. Scientists aren't magically better people just because of the field they're in.

PepePedebone 5 points ago +5 / -0

Science has become $cientism, and it is disgusting.

roflcopt0rz_returns 5 points ago +5 / -0

Everyone understands that the tobacco companies hire “scientists” to do dumb bullshit in order to make cigarettes not look as bad as they are.

But they think it’s impossible for any other group of “scientists” to be corrupt or bought off.

When the science says it's safe to riot but NOT safe to go to church?? Don't trust the science.

When the science says they're not even going to bother testing HCQ to see if it will stop the WuFlu?? Don't trust the science.

There are others, but either of those by itself pretty much destroys any cred the Science might have had.

MasksAreChildAbuse 4 points ago +4 / -0

Neil Degrasse Tyson’s remake of Cosmo they literally have multiple episodes dedicated to how scientists were bought/paid for/lied etc to support big corporate interests and how “consensus scientific opinion” was often wrong in the face of singular people brave enough to speak against the establishment....

Yet all of his supporters and even Niel himself are like “nah can’t happen now.”

AmazinKrackin2 4 points ago +4 / -0

All a big business you don't get funded if the results you produce do not please your sponsors. Science is corrupt just like the medical industry.

Gonzotron5000 4 points ago +4 / -0

For 90% of people thier job is just a job - including doctors scientists and politicians. Think about how much cheating and number fudging and rule bending and apathy you know about at your own job.

NotAnotherNPC 4 points ago +4 / -0

Funny, in my Master's level Statistics classes..... we were warned about fudging the stats to make our hypothesis work... and that it happens way too often in the real world due to results that the funding/sponsor was looking for.

#NotFollowingStats, especially ones linked to Fauci

T-Bear 3 points ago +3 / -0

Vary true.

Was taught/warned of the same thing in my graduate-level statistics courses 30 years ago.

Some took it as a warning. Others took it as instruction.

least_counties_ever 4 points ago +4 / -0

Scientist here. We sometimes exaggerate or hide behind something noncommittal. Let’s say the scientists told their managers the vaccine was 40% effective. The manager will then tell the executive it’s 60% effective. The executive tells the bureaucrat it’s 80% effective. The bureaucrat tells the politician it’s 95% effective. And the politician tells the public “get it now, it’s 100% effective!”

680-EVIL 4 points ago +4 / -0

Scientist here. Can confirm.

Juicy-J 4 points ago +4 / -0

The new religion of science. Once the "aliens" land, their gospel will be one of microchipping yourself. Ah yes, the conditioning and hard push for everyone to trust the science.

DK_The_White 4 points ago +4 / -0

There's a theory that assumes that humanity is inherently good, but things like money and religious fanaticism keeps setting back the cause of science.

Scientific advancement must be made by individuals who are in it solely for that reason. Right now the science fields are mucked with money grabbing, corrupt people who are just trying to make themselves rich. Medical industry and food industries are doing the same thing. Have been for decades.

d_bokk 4 points ago +4 / -0

If I have learned anything in the past year, this reverence for the "experts" and "science" is probably how all pagan religions began. The oracles use science to explain lies and create fake miracles to gain authority, then suppress all dissent and decide it's better for some lives to be sacrificed for the greater good.

HeavyVetting 4 points ago +4 / -0

Any time you have massive amounts of money and power involved and any inconvenient truths can be swept away while saying "it's complicated" there will almost definitely be fraud.

JustHereForTheSalmon 4 points ago +4 / -0

"Tobacco Scientist says cigarettes are safe"

Yeah, right, we don't believe them.

"Coke Scientist says sugary soft drinks are safe"

Yeah, right, we don't believe them.

"Government Scientist says you need to lose your freedom to be safe"

ExileOnRedditStreet 4 points ago +4 / -0

This cannot be emphasized enough. At one point, there was a whole lobby claiming that smoking was healthy and that leaded gasoline was safe for the environment.

PatriotLady1 3 points ago +3 / -0

PMAGA 3 points ago +3 / -0

They've also created a barrier to entry in the form of the "higher education" system. You aren't doing "real science" unless you first indoctrinate yourself through one of their programs and also have to be peer reviewed by people from within their programs.

As an atheist, it was harder to come to terms with this than it was to realize there was no God. More ostracization and social fallout to leave the Democratic party than the church.

I'm absolutely certain that even self described smart guys and rational thinkers fall victim to the exact same religious zealotry as anyone else they just apply it to Marxism instead.

SteamyRayVaughn7 2 points ago +2 / -0

Totally agree with this guy. Just put in my 2-weeks notice at my high paying biopharma sales job yesterday evening. I won’t be part of a system that depends on more people getting cancer to sustain their growing profits, year after year. It was weighing too heavy on me and couldn’t wait until the end of the year when they planned to fire me and others for not getting the jab. Having worked around PhDs and “scientists” for the past 9 years, both in academia and private sector, I can affirm most are obedient sheep. They’re people and are flawed, thus produce flawed data through poor experimentation. They wanna punch out at the end of a long day just like anyone else, and don’t mind letting bad data slide to meet deadlines and go home to watch whatever bull crap is trending on Netflix. This industry is ripe for collapsing, and only a few in the know can see it coming.
