By nature, people don't take unnecessary risks. Let's say you take your chance with Jesus and Heaven...

What do you have to lose? Sensual pleasures? Material possessions? Reputation?

To live for Christ is not to deny ourselves what is necessary to stay alive, because our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. But Christ taught that all sin falls into three categories:

  1. Lust of the flesh: sexual indulgence outside the confines of marriage; the mind and soul should be the master of the body, not the other way around. All other fleshly excesses, such as gluttony, fall in this category.
  2. Lust of the eyes: pursuit of material possessions.
  3. Pride of life: seeking the approval or adulation of men, instead of living by God's rules; seeking titles, offices, accomplishments and social status for their own sake, rather than a desire to serve others.

All sin eventually gets expressed in one of these three forms. Keep a watch on those areas of your life. Moderation is key.

Other than that, just love Jesus.

That. is. all. ...

... If heaven is real, you've hit the jackpot. If heaven is not real, in the light of eternity after you are dead and gone, will you really regret not having that affair, not having that latest car model or that smartphone with the latest tech? Will you regret not having titles before and after your name?... You'll either be dead, having no self-consciousness or awareness of space and time; or you'll transition to some other existence and have eternity to make up for what you didn't do in your 80-odd years on Earth.

Take your chance with Jesus and Heaven. Literally a win-win deal. 80 years passes by really fast. 80 (or any number for that matter) when divided by infinity is a big fat ZERO.

Edit: Sermon drawn from 1 John 2: 15-16

Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.
