In a lot of places, the exemption process is perfunctory or pro forma. They have you fill out a form (asking for a lot of info for which they cannot legally ask - at least under current laws) and then effectively shitcan the form.

In a conference call with the USDA the other day, for example, it was more than tacitly implied that no religious exemptions would be granted. That they're going through the motions of collecting them because they must.

So on some level, it might not matter at all. There's probably no big win going down the exemption path. That said, your employer may grant it - not trying to discourage you from filing. My thoughts are on the broader issue rather than your specific circumstances.
