I had a classmate who moved from Fairbanks, Alaska. Had all the same liberal beliefs. After a few months he pulls me aside and asked what's with some of the people in the ghettos and how they seem so unhelpable. He had never experienced the futility of dealing with some people. In Alaska, everyone tried to help each other.

It was complete culture shock.

Same with a lot of my Yankee and European friends.

Yeah, they clustered up after moving from other states. All moving there due to Maine's liberal welfare state.

Masshole transplants and college kids. Don’t know about Maine, but NH has incredibly lax laws allowing college kids to vote as residents. College towns have huge population in November, and they are always blue in a sea of red.

DeadOverRed 14 points ago +14 / -0

Why the (*&#$ would you let foreign children vote? Makes no sense

17
Bullwinkle 17 points ago +17 / -0

A friend of mine freaked out at me because I commented that it wasn’t right that her kid ( a Masshole) would vote in a southern state to swing elections to the Democrat. That is definitely a thing. Kids who are not residents of a state for purposes of paying instate tuition should not be voting there. Period.

i wonder if they also vote at home, as well. as in voter fraud.

New York and Massachusetts is where they come from, they willingly try to inject their commie politics into conservative communities

worcester here, looking to move to NH too. MA is suprisingly red west of framingham. we get a bad rap for being "libs", but i've maybe seen 2-3 biden stickers, plenty of trump stickers/flags though...

Lady Pede here from Manchester, New Hampshire. Both New Hampshire and Maine have very small blue areas and those are the mostly coastal communities. Once you get north of Concord it is largely conservative not to mention very beautiful up in the mountains. Through all this Covid shit my husband and I had to shift gears and started building houses up in Bethel, Maine. I used to love the idea of living in the city close to everything but over the past few years and more and more every day I long to live up in the mountains immersed in nature away from the absolute cancer that society has turned into. I will say also since the Covid lockdowns the real estate market in both New Hampshire and any other mountain ski village in no or Maine has gone through the roof from people moving out of New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Jersey etc.

Bullwinkle 3 points ago +3 / -0

And they have no real long term interests in these states. They hightail it back to MA and NY as soon as they graduate.

Nh is based as fuck. On a state level its completely controlled by Republicans. The free state project does awesome work. Our fed elections get fucked because the out of state commie college kids are allowed to vote. Its complete bullshit and its something were working on fixing.

Schwungle 2 points ago +4 / -2

Wife and I are making a road trip there soon to check it out. Always wanted to join the FSP.

You will love it here! Best decision I ever made moving here

I really don't know shit about it. Hoping to find somewhere on the rural side of suburban. Got a lot of research to do I guess 😅

White people in Maine are so far behind the times they don't know Trump left the Democrat Party because the Democrat Party left him. Maine is about 20 years behind the times.

Zenicity 7 points ago +7 / -0

Not true. Maine is a quiet state that cities like Portland ruin. In fact it's always the damn cities that suck. I lived in Maine until I was 26 and all of the northern people were pissed that city idiots vote blue. Conservatives live more secluded and like to be left alone because of this bullshit.

I did have a friend that blocked me from Maine cause she was a liberal shit for brains and didn't like what I had to say. Told me I was conservative because I was so secluded and never got to see the real world and that I had to read more books about how black people have a hard time. This girl was white and dumb as rocks. So according to her, living in Maine made me smart. I turned out full right side because I went without and as a white person, I've still had my struggles so ain't nobody got time for that victim game.

3
daveywavey86 3 points ago +3 / -0

colder states like ME, MA, NH, VT, etc should all be voting conservative because in colder climates you tend to live a more "rugged" life. i grew up in MA, and i currently am living in the bay area of CA, and these people are so entitled. they've never suffered a day in their lives. they've never gotten up 2h before work to shovel their cars out of 5' of snow. they've never been without power for a week straight w/ -20F weather.

hard times create hard people, and for all these northeastern states voting blue, i just dont understand how its sustainable (it isnt).

Zenicity 1 point ago +1 / -0

Also, we had Lepage and it was the damn native american commie reservations that hated him. He was supposedly racist because he wouldn't remove a damn mascot on a sports team. Time to stop pointing the finger at white people.

3
HanginChad 3 points ago +3 / -0

From what I've seen the Democrats in those states, especially rural areas are more old school Democrats. Not the woke ones, but they still vote for woke Democrats.

Take the more extreme NH as an example. No sales tax, no income tax, constitutional carry, no mask/vax mandates, low poverty and that's how most Democrats living there like it. Even Maine has constitutional carry.

benfranklin207 4 points ago +4 / -0

The swamp here is awful. My 15 year old was remote learning last year during class a per was playing Hentie, cartoon porn in the background. The school told me that it would violate the students rights to stop him from attending the online course. Then you have the Maine people alliance, Peace and Justice center... WE get heavily funded by Commies. But we have constitutional carry.

Zenicity 4 points ago +4 / -0

10k Somali immigrants in Lewiston, ME. So that's probably more people than all of Northern Maine has. It's fucked up too because these Somali men kill their own daughters and shit and no one does anything about it. They are like their own community.

We can thank Susan Rino Face Collins! That woman is a fucking turd.

3
Abovethefray 3 points ago +3 / -0

Dont forget Vermont. Voting for Bernie forever.

680-EVIL 3 points ago +3 / -0

Live in MA, am up in northern ME often. Drive along the coast and you will see all these cute little towns. They are all deserted during the Winter. Reason is most of these people come from NY, some from MA. Which is why you will see BLM flags everywhere. I am sure many of them vote there.

2
Mother_of_gains [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

This sounds right. They vote in NYC and do mail in ballots for their summer homes.

IvermectinWorks 7 points ago +7 / -0

Except the facts say otherwise.

There are 6,170,130 eligible voters in NJ. Only 2.5 million decided to show up to vote. There are 2.2 million white guys in NJ.

If all the white men got off their lazy asses to vote, they'd win every election. Blame it on the lazy men.

1
Bullwinkle 1 point ago +3 / -2

Maybe the lazy white men would bother to vote if the GOP gave them a reason to. Wait until these white guys figure out that illegals are getting nice, fat paychecks for breaking the law. Never fear, though, the incompetent GOP won’t even push back on that. Those idiots will join ranks with the Democrats and MSM and blame it on Trump. Chances are these people will never figure out how badly they are played.

4
IvermectinWorks 4 points ago +4 / -0

And that's why all the lazy white men don't vote, because they're too busy feeling defeated like you are. You're doing a really great job of ensuring their defeatism, btw. Keep up the good job!

2
Bullwinkle 2 points ago +2 / -0

And ,more importantly, the GOP needs to show that they will fight for these people.

1
IvermectinWorks 1 point ago +2 / -1

Or you could run for office yourself and do all those things.

2
Bullwinkle 2 points ago +2 / -0

I know my limitations. But I donate money because I can. And I have learned through my past failed donations to politicians like Romney that I will only donate and vote for GOP politicians who will fight against things like illegal immigration and fraudulent elections and fight for working class white men. Many will not. If they know donations and votes won’t be forthcoming if they don’t do these things, maybe they will change their ways.

1
IvermectinWorks 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's how we got in this whole mess. Before Trump came along, small donations were nearly nonexistent, so all the pharma fat cats stepped in to fill the void. That's why they have a voice and you don't.

2
Bullwinkle 2 points ago +2 / -0

It’s not defeatism. It’s that the GOP needs to change its messaging to these people.

0
IvermectinWorks 0 points ago +1 / -1

That's what all the defeatists say, that it's somebody else's fault. They can't handle taking responsibility for their own failures in life.

They're coming from the ballot counters. The amount of bureaucracy in New England is insane.

Boston area here, we haven't had a repub mayor since 1930...

2
Zenicity 2 points ago +2 / -0

So simplified, the state turned the native Americans into communists who complain about not getting enough in land claims and free shit, college students from liberal states get to vote, tons of damn Somalis running around killing their own kind for not following suit when it comes to religion, the damn broken down cities since Maine is a poor state and can't get funding to plow the roads, let alone fix up the place. It's run down for sure. It's the state that everyone forgets about because it has hardly any electoral votes.

Susan needs to go. Damn Rino!

2
Bullwinkle 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think these people may be gaslighted at every election cycle to fall for the Republicans are the party of the rich BS and the Democrats will help them and care about them. Then the Democrats abandon ship after they win the election and do nothing to help these people.

1
goat_nebula 1 point ago +1 / -0

Some of those far north places have no idea how bad certain portions of the population can be in big cities down south. I’ve had Yankees and Europeans alike confide in me that they had no idea until they came here and saw for themselves going to a gas station in a shit part of town or living in apartment in 3rd Ward having no idea what they were getting in to just saw it was cheaper to get an apartment there. They learned quite quickly.

My South African friend knew though. Huh.

crypticusername 1 point ago +1 / -0

Democrats tend to do well at the federal level because their republican competition is usually considered too conservative on social issues since they have to fit the mold of the national party. Here in Northern New England people certainly prefer lower taxes but they don't like social conservatism.

Its a combination of the live and let live mentality of our citizens since we tend to be polite but keep to ourselves, and also the low levels of religious practice. Republicans tend to do better at the state and local levels, case in point 3 of the 6 states have GOP governors and NH state legislature is GOP controlled as well. But these same republicans would be considered moderate or RINOs if they won a federal election, just look as Susan Collins.

1
Save_the_Republic 1 point ago +1 / -0

White trash welfare recipients? I don't know much about Maine, but it is fact that a large number of whites live off the government tit, particularly in rural areas.

2
Zenicity 2 points ago +2 / -0

I will say in the rural areas there are so many druggies because Maine is a poorer state and people who live there year round struggle with depression. There isn't easy access to help programs for them and they waste away. I've witnessed it with so many people I went to school with and it's really too bad.

The Republicans are the ones that just want to be left alone and they are forced to live surrounded by druggies that break into homes and cars and steal things to sell for more drugs.

Maine really needs better resources for mental health. They need a new governor asap!
