Switched to using an old school. Safety razor and shave soap. Best shaves ive ever had.

Gillette???

I quit Proctor & Gamble entirely! Quite the effort to do so too!

Edit: Seriously, buy your soap, shampoo, detergent, and random other crap from a local source. You might not know this, but people in your city make all these things and sell them. You should find these people and buy from local people in your community, and stop giving money to communists

Lol and while ignoring that we're pretty much set with refrigeration, anti-biotics, soap, and "clean" running water for drinking, and private indoor plumbing for hand-washing, brushing teeth, showering, etc. and of course the toilet. They still would rather ignore the notable improvements to accessibility of these amenities and basic hygeine practices and credit vaccines for the reduction in infection, instead, even with the glaring limitations and potential harm we now know of with vaccination.

Head & Shoulders

Over past 20 years, these faggot bastards

  • Changed the original formula to one that doesn't work as well
  • Changed the bottle to one the kept falling off the shower shelf, landed on my foot and cracked a meta tarsal bone in my foot
  • Did line extension to "Conditioner" in basically same bottle as the shampoo. Unknowingly bought two "on sale" and wondered why the fuck my hair was so greasy. These faggots did that so people would buy it BY ACCIDENT.

Bought mine around two weeks ago still getting used to it but so far so good. replacing only the razor going to be much cheaper then the disposables.

9
cosmos411 9 points ago +10 / -1

Just remember that a safety razor isn't meant to work in one pass alone. You need to make at least 2 passes in different directions for a closer shave. There's always enough soap left on the brush for a second round. One other thing, lots of people talk about loading the soap into the brush, e.g. lathering the brush on the soap. That just uses up the soap much faster. Best to get the soap on the brush and then work up the lather on your face instead. Uses much less soap and it forces the lather into the stubble.

2
scorpio_2049 2 points ago +2 / -0

Badger hair brush.

2
Tramsec 2 points ago +2 / -0

I bought a bunch of blades for maybe $100 ten years ago and I still have probably half left.

It blows my mind the amount normies spend on shaving crap

9
MOS6502 9 points ago +9 / -0

Hear, hear! I, too, am a wetshaver. I spent like $12 for 100 blades. Get around 4 or 5 shaves per blade, shaving every 2 or 3 days, so that works out to a little over 2 years worth. And if you get into Stirling Soap's or Barrister & Mann's products your face will thank you.

3
frogface 3 points ago +3 / -0

Stirling shave soap is awesome.

5
Toobin247 5 points ago +5 / -0

Gillette makes a lot of the blades for those too. Look into the manufacturers. I buy Voskhod myself.

Fine blades

4
indigo_truther 4 points ago +4 / -0

How difficult is this if you're used to these 5-bladed plastic razors?

8
4more 8 points ago +8 / -0

Never used a 5 blade razor (what am I a woman shaving her legs?). But I went from Gillette 2 blade to safety razor no problem. Just make sure you are using a sharp blade or you will bleed. If you really want to be stingy rinse and dry the blade after each use.

6
scorpio_2049 6 points ago +6 / -0

Womens razors have to have five blades to cut whatever galvanized wire their leg hair is made out of.

5
Kingoftheroad 5 points ago +5 / -0

Are you supposed to discard of the blade after each shave? I assumed they would be good for a few weeks

3
Bubbahax 3 points ago +3 / -0

I use mine for a week before changing them out.

2
4more 2 points ago +2 / -0

No one usually does a few shaves. I think it depends how often you shave because the blade doesn’t get blunt from shaving but from rusting.

6
HyperCarbs 6 points ago +6 / -0

It is called a safety razor for a reason. Super easy and safe to use.

6
SlowBurningRage 6 points ago +6 / -0

It isn't. Just takes a steady hand, a light touch, and a couple passes.

4
Thrasymachus 4 points ago +5 / -1

It took me a couple of weeks to really get used to it, where the first couple of shaves were a callback to high school with some little nicks and blood, and I had to become slightly more aware of the angles I was taking with any given shave pass. Then it becomes second nature and you're good to go.

4
Toobin247 4 points ago +4 / -0

Also don’t try to get baby butt smooth. Double edged razors cut close but they don’t lift and cut. I’d do no more than two or 3 passes. Hardest part is learning which direction your hairs grow. But in all honesty I do 2 main passes and a couple clean up passes on odd angles patches.

Gotta be sharp! When it starts to snag replace the blade. I get about a week per.

2
MrJethro 2 points ago +2 / -0

rust is what dulls the blade, not hair. I rinse the razor in rubbing alcohol, it dries quickly without rusting. they stay sharp for months.

2
Tramsec 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've cut myself maybe once a year at the high end.

The only thing is finding the blade that works best with your razor and facial hair combo. Using a blade that's a bad match can be rough.

No one's wife misses that rust lol

2
FireannDireach 2 points ago +2 / -0

Been using Barbasol since I was a teen.

For razors, I usually just get whatever is on sale. Maybe I'll get a good safety razor for myself for xmas. My dad used a safety razor growing up, then he switched to an electric razor, which I've never liked.

1
JoseyMontana 1 point ago +1 / -0

Those old school safety razors are great in my book. I've never had the nerve to go full straight blade but a buddy's been using one for years and can't brag about more than he does.

22
Reassess_Reevaluate 22 points ago +23 / -1

I used a Gillette razor my whole life until that advertisement.

Then I went on Amazon and got a nice safety razor and a year's worth of blades. Feels great shaving like my grandfather did, mixing the soap up with a nice boar hair brush. It's a manly ritual now instead of a chore.

Funny thing is, about six months ago Gillette came out with a new model razor, and they were so desperate to get sales up that they sent free ones to every house in my neighborhood.

Mine went right in the trash. Didn't even open it. I wouldn't use their shit for free. That advertisement was a "one strike and you're fucking done forever" kind of thing for me.

4
MyDogCompletesMe 4 points ago +4 / -0

Me too. It's nice to be reminded in this big woke economy where there are so many companies I hate to do business with, that since that ad, I've been thoughtlessly boycotting them with no further effort.

I still try to boycott Coke, Facebook, Nike, working on Google, FoxNews, etc, but our whole house hasn't bought a Gillette product since that ad.

They were like the "Original Boycott" and I'm never gonna go back. P.S. If they sent me free razors, I would use them, which I think economically punishes them even more, cuz I'm still not gonna give them a single penny.

2
thanksobama 2 points ago +2 / -0

bangbus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. People need to stop using it.

18
barwhack 18 points ago +18 / -0

They sent me a razor for my 18th, years and years ago. I was grateful then; didn't even get creeped. And I used it - buying periodic razor refills for DECADES - up until the infamous emasculate ad campaign; whereupon I threw it away forever, and use another (better) brand.

Get communist, go holodomor.

4
TheDTOMDon 4 points ago +4 / -0

Same. I remember getting the razor in the mail the same day as I signed up for compulsory draft duty. I think those eight refills lasted me deep into my twenties. Only used them a couple times a month. Never bought replacements. Bought an electric razor.

1
Swedistan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Same. Used gilette razor s for over a decade.

Switched tos Philips electric and not looking back!

2
bangbus 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yep. I remember they sent me a Mach three when I turned 18. It was fairly new at the time. I must have spent several hundred dollars on refills. I also upgraded to the newer version and collectively spent a small fortune. Never again.

The one I posted was the one I recalled that spurned the initial disgust with PG/ Gillette.

That one is so many shades of retched. Sure, those with that disorder shave. These were not the bulk of market share though.

10
Thrasymachus 10 points ago +11 / -1

I'll note that in addition to the White Man Bad ad scandal that kicked off the main Gillette boycott, the parent company, consumer-packaged-goods mega-giant Procter & Gamble, are super woke, of the "HR won't even allow a white man's resume to reach the hiring decision manager" variety. Avoid everything they make.

Unilever, their primary competitor, is no better and should be equally avoided.

SC Johnson is actually alright.

10
Save_the_Republic 10 points ago +10 / -0

And Pepsi openly supports BLM. I like a Coke zero from time to time. Maybe I'll try Shasta? Is there a based soda company out there?

3
TheDTOMDon 3 points ago +3 / -0

As an avid coke zero drinker I had to face the music a couple years ago. First of all there aren’t any non woke sellers of diet soda widely available. Second, that shit is poison. Switched to protein powder, mushroom powder, MCT oil, spirulina powder etc. morning smoothies in a shaker bottle with whole milk and coffee. Replaced my 2 coke zeros in the morning and I haven’t felt better. It’s like soylent drink mix for adults. And it’s still cheaper. I pre-mix all the powders in ratios. I only re order most of it three times a year. MCT, mushroom powder(it’s some special blend of lions mane etc from sprouts), spirulina and the other specialty stuff goes a long way, most of it is protein powder and milk/coffee.

Gained muscle and don’t have to worry about artificial sweeteners.

1
Glower_not_shower 1 point ago +1 / -0

Could you go into detail on the mushroom powder and spirulina? I know of them but I don't know anyone personally that uses them.

I'm trying to get healthier with less drinking, very little smoking now, trying to eat as clean as possible and stay active.

1
PM_ME_UR_MAGIC_CARDS 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lion's Mane has such a pungent taste to me, but it has so much promise.

In my research, I've come across everything you've listed though and I think you're right on the money with your choices (from a cognition, lean mass and overall wellness perspective).

Do you intermittently fast? Look into that if you don't already.

2
16Sherman 2 points ago +2 / -0

I buy local colas or make my own flavored waters by adding some mint or orange slices. The rare occasion I drink a Coke now I don't even like it, way too sweet.

3
FireannDireach 3 points ago +3 / -0

I stopped buying soda way before this woke shit. It's better without it. Tea, coffee, or water. Ice water is delicious.

Add Doritos to your list, if you still indulge.

1
wankingisgay 1 point ago +1 / -0

stopped buying coke when they pushed ads with Islamic moon in sweden.

Fuck them.

And i had been exclusively drinking coke for 25 years

12
sentient-potato 12 points ago +12 / -0

I've always purchased the razors for myself, husband and daughters, and they were always Gillette. That ended the minute I saw their toxic masculinity commercial.

Between the 3 of us that's a lot of razors in a year, and razors aren't cheap. Gillette can suck it.

10
Herpawinski 10 points ago +10 / -0

The mach 3 sensor razor was the best razor I've ever used. I haven't bought or used one since then and it has been a sacrifice.

I've also sacrificed Sprite Zero because it's made by Coke, my all time favorite diet soda, and I haven't allowed myself to even try the new Coffee-Coke.

6
mob1104 6 points ago +6 / -0

Same thing with stop and shop cola.

4
JustHereForTheSalmon 4 points ago +4 / -0

I also used to use a Mach 3 but I can't say it gives me better shaves than a DE. 3 passes: with grain, across grain, and against grain. A good soap and aftershave helps wonderfully and prior to this I never had a face without stubble since high school.

8
DuplexFields 8 points ago +8 / -0

I got a free razor from one of those companies the day I turned 18, with diamond-coated blades.

I never bought a single blade and used it until the day I inherited my grandfather’s Norelco 3-head electric razor.

Used that one until I found a newer Norelco model at a thrift store.

Used that one until I found a battery-powered Norelco in the driveway. Bought a charging cord online, but it goes a month between charges.

5
XCorneliusX 5 points ago +5 / -0

Been using my same Norelco I bought in 2007. Will not hold a charge, but will work corded. I still buy the blades for that one as they are super common. I might try and replace the batteries some day, but probably not.

2
TheDTOMDon 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have the opposite experience. Bought a norelco rechargeable a few years ago and when I plug it in the light is just solid green. I gave up on charging it at least a year ago and it still works. I think it’s powered by my infinite stubbornness, or zero point energy.

1
XCorneliusX 1 point ago +1 / -0

I have tried disposable and soap and just rash, so have stayed with the Norelco. You are right. These are beasts. 14 years so far. It used to hold a charge. That faded maybe 3 years ago.

8

After Gillette made it clear what was important to that company, I ended taking a ton of these out of my grocery cart. Shopping is in many ways habit, just give me one reason to take you out of my cart and that's it for life. There's always a different paper towel or face cream. I've found the trend that the more woke a company pushes in its ads, the worse the product is getting anyway. Smaller, formula changes all seem to get hid by virtue signalling

7
Berkshire10 7 points ago +7 / -0

Harrys went woke too. I don't remember what it was but I canceled my subscription and wrote a strongly worded email.

Switched to safety razor/shave soap for my face and skull shaver electric for my head. Definitely saving money, and getting a better shave.

2
AR15 2 points ago +2 / -0

How do you like the skull shaver? Does it give a close shave? I shave my head everyday so curious how well it compares to a wet shave. Also, how long do the blades last?

1
Berkshire10 1 point ago +1 / -0

I was very skeptical, but it gets very close. I was never impressed with previous generations of electrics. For me its equivalent to 8 hours post shaving with a 5 blade razor against the grain.

I used to shave every 3 days, now I go every other day bc it is so quick and convenient. I use it in the shower with some shaving cream lather. Have only run into razor burn once on my neck bc I pushed too hard.

I have the pit bull gold, blades are fine ~6 months of use in. When looking into it they said blades last 3-6 months. I am a satisfied customer.

2
AR15 2 points ago +2 / -0

Cool man, thanks for the info. I like to get a very close baby smooth shave and always look forward to the shaving process every morning. Maybe I'll grab one of these for a travel solution or for days I just need a super quick shave.

Lastly, what's your go to moisturizer/product for post shave? Always interested in finding new products, haha.

1
Berkshire10 1 point ago +1 / -0

For aftershave I like lather and wood aftershave balm. I also use "ordinary" brand... my wife picked it up and it was way cheaper than previous stuff from Rodan & Fields. The ordinary regimen consists of hyaluronic acid and b5 hydrating serum and a lotion.

“Based as fuck” = Donating 500k to blm. Also looks their mission statement, maybe more woke than Gillette.

They had a commercial with a girl pretending to be a boy who was so hopped up on whatever cocktail of drugs that they had some stubble on their face. It's father was saying how proud he was to teach it how to shave. I wanted to fucking vomit. Never again will I buy their stuff

I stopped using Gillette and went to Harry's. And then when Harry's went woke I stopped using them (got the email receipt getting into it with their woke af customer service) and went to just using my electric razor. About to buy a straight blade to use on the ol' noggin because I prefer that level of shave over the electric razor.

Gillette, now added to the 10,000 page conservative boycott list. I have to consult the books now before I buy or do anything, depressing that so many companies are woke.

Shaving is for women anyway.

Richard_Dangler 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's BS. I shave my head to avoid having the bird's nest.

gregariousbarbarian 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's funny because there are plenty of woke companies out there that I still use, only because there is no feasible alternative or the alternatives are cost prohibitive.

What is insane about Gillette is that their product is not special. Schick is right next to Gillette and guess what? There is no material difference between their products and Gillette's. I don't have to drive across town. I don't need to pay more. I don't need to settle for an inferior product. It literally takes no effort for me to abandon Gillette for a competitor.

Safety razor gives you a better shave and is wayyyy cheaper overall. Fuck Gillette. Overpriced trash.

The single blade Bic designed for coarse and curly hair is amazing for a disposable razor.

The second one……..jesus christ almighty “im at the point in my manhood?!?!” YOU’RE A FUCKING WOMAN!!!!!!!

Thanks for bringin me up to speed fren. I had no idea of this. I just threw out my shaving scream and the $25 razors i bought tonight are going back to the store first thing in the morning. Thanks fren O7

Pepega 6 points ago +6 / -0

SOmeone here way back when this came up showed shit from them and dollar shave club being woke as fuck.

hearsay now from me but i remember vividly.

Safety razor was my end solution. Even if the company ends up woke i can get blades anywhere. cheapest. best. most recyclable. Plastic recycling is a fucking sham.

The beard will guide you. The beard needs no bitch razors.

Knock the rough bits off with what you trim the dog with. Done and done.

I just use bulk disposables. they work great and it's, like, $25 for 140 of em. Even if they're only good for three shaves, it's well worth it.
