I bet a lot of people here don't know who Pinochet is and why we like him, we need to change that.

54
TheSonOfGadsden 54 points ago +54 / -0

I honestly don’t. And I feel shame😔

Autismo 136 points ago +136 / -0

Its ok, you're open to knowledge pede and I'm not here to lord it over you.

Augusto José Ramón Pinochet Ugarte was a Chilean Army General who ruled Chile from 1973 to 1990.

He was famously hard nosed against communism and overthrew a socialist government in Chile and was later known for his rather efficient tactics of getting rid of communist agitators, namely, throwing them the fuck out of choppers and/or hanging them using choppers

Pinochet is the ultimate based general who knew how to deal with commie scum.

BoughtByBloomberg2 94 points ago +94 / -0

And he ran an economic revival campaign that made Chile into the economic miracle of south america by rejecting Keynesian bullshit and imposing Friedman economics through his "Chicago Boys" team of based economists.

90% of the market was privatized (from basically 0% before 1975) and communists were deported. Permanently.

50
Singingthebattlecry 50 points ago +50 / -0

Sadly many of them escaped and then came back after 1990. They then took over the education system including universities and have helped lead events that have created the new prostitution constitutional convention and the utter disaster the country is in. Their own banks think their currency is going to fail and have stopped making long term loans as inflation grows.

50
War_Hamster 50 points ago +50 / -0

All true, but did you see the Chilean elections that just happened?

They rejected socialism. Again.

Unfortunately only the first round. We have elections again December 21st. Based Kast vs 35 year old soy boy commie scum boric. They are very close. May god help us

5

Didn't Argentina just have elections also? Any word on how those went?

3

Best of luck to based Chileans.

Will be watching and praying for you all.

2
Singingthebattlecry 2 points ago +2 / -0

The election isn't done yet, run off time. Let's hope people turn out again. Fortunately, Chile has some of the safest elections in the world. A system I personally think we should adopt parts of, held on a Sunday, essentially a jury pool of non partisan vote counters, and a voting ID that is your national ID.

3
War_Hamster 3 points ago +3 / -0

I was just reading about how Biden took the Colombian terror group FARC off of the watch list so they can give them money. This is already causing a reactive move away from Leftist policies throughout Latin communities, both domestically and abroad.

Seems like Nayib Bukele of El Salvador is following a similar game plan with restoring sound money. No helicopter rides but a sound economic footing based on sound money seems more important.

19
BoughtByBloomberg2 19 points ago +19 / -0

Helicopter rides are a sound part of any sound economic footing. It's called debridement in surgery. A wound can't heal unless you clean it out.

7
Rainman 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yes I think the visual of being pushed out of a helicopter is a very effective at making commie vermin think twice about the merits of Marxism

Now why did his movement fail?

Also, Chile just rejected socialism in their recent elections, which may have a much more lasting impact than helicopter rides.

(Note: I am not criticizing helicopter rides for commies)

Pinochet was not a harsh dictator unlike the propaganda we see. He only killed about 2000 people of which all were Commies and the vast majority were either in terrorist organizations like the Frente Revolucionario Manuel Rodriguez (think of the Sendero Luninoso but nobody knows about them outside Chile because they were crushed efficiently by Pinochet) or were activists actively working with Fidel. Very few “regular people” were tortured or killed. Once The Berlin Wall fell and communism Was “defeated, the country stabilized, healthy and growing, pinochet voluntarily called for elections on whether he should stay or go. And unlike any communist dictatorship, this was a free and fair election Where the people narrowly chose to return to democracy and the man stepped down. The guy is a fucking hero, and we won’t get saved like that twice. The only “corruption” they found was a bank account that is believed to have been set up bu his wife with 10 million dollars in it. Basically 0 money. Meanwhile Chavez and Fidel and Obama are billionaires never having worked a day in their lives

Deporter 6 points ago +6 / -0

My mother is from Chile who came here (legally) in the 60s and married my American father. I always heard the names Pinochet and Allende growing up as a kid but never knew what they were talking about. It was only very recently that I began to inquire about it, and reading everything in this thread is mind blowing to me, probably far more than others. I almost never run into other Chileans, aside from family members. What state are you in, if you don't mind me asking?

1
PegasoSeiya 1 point ago +1 / -0

South Florida. There’s dozens of us lol. But thanks fully in the Chilean Embassy in Miami we had 60% votes cast for Kast and about 20 percent for other less conservative right wing candidates. Only about 20 percent are fully cucked. Very proud of the Chilean community in Florida.

11
TheFreeSpeechRadical 11 points ago +11 / -0

Well, the reason it failed is because he applied the Friedman doctrine rather too well. As Friedman himself would comment on Chile afterwards, Pinochet was a dictator that stiffled all sorts of freedoms, chief of which was freedom of speech, but little did he know that by applying a free market in the sense of Friedman's, automatically, the education get better, the consciousness of the people get better, and they become aware of their state better and of course they can only ask for basic freedoms and overthrow the dictatorship. point is, there is no escaping freedom if you offer a free market economy and uphold a good and honest competition. And at the time of Pinochet especially in the 80s, Chile became an economical and social utopia (except in freedoms). Pinochet, victim of his own success.

"... Chilean dictator", politically biased perhaps. Nevertheless, is he anymore a dictator than Joe Biden? I'm not sure anybody legitimately voted for the latter.

Let's examine that question: Generalissimo Pinochet loved the people of Chile and wanted a better life for them. Devoted his entire life to making that happen.

Creepy Joe Biden is only in politics to profit and makes choices every day to harm the American people. As Biden gets richer the American people's suffering and hardships increase.

Biden is the tyrant dictator, general Pinochet the benevolent Shepherd.

Short version: faced with a left-wing coup, he committed a right-wing coup, and threw a bunch of communists out of helicopters. He did some dark shit and stacked a lot of bodies (but nowhere near the number the communist regime he thwarted would have), but he turned his country around from economic collapse to great prosperity. Then, one day, he simply declared his job done, gave all of his dictatorial powers back to the people, and quietly retired. In all of history he's probably on like a single-digit list of people who've voluntarily surrendered absolute power.

Today, Chile, neck and neck with Uruguay, leads all of South America by a mile in both GDP per capita and robustness of democracy, and has the most economic freedom and market competition on the continent, as well as the lowest government corruption.

Despite significant political violence, the legacy of Pinochet's regime is a lasting success story. He leaves us with a perfect illustration of the difference between right and left-wing authoritarianism, necessary evil to fight greater evil, ultimately leading to a system that actually works vs power for power's sake without end, inexorably leading to total failure.

Lefties hate him and treat him like one of the greatest monsters who's ever walked the earth, despite his bodycount being pretty low for a South American dictatorship, because of how he illustrates that our way works compared to all their failed commie totalitarian states down there.

20
Jericho-Trompete 20 points ago +27 / -7

I know who was Pinochet, I'm from South America, I'm conservative, I agree with 90% of the Pinochet government in Chile, but the 10% of the things that I disagree are enough to don't want to live in a regime like the one he ruled. Biden and his alphabet and Big Tech prosecution against us, is a kids game compared with Pinochet government. I can understand a joke, an irony like the choppers joke, but I won't support a regime like that. I recognize that he changed Chile in a way that none of the other far right dictators did. He removed the communist scum from the power and prepared the country for what it is today, I totally agree but he was just a warrior not a Churchill.

24
Fuck_the_Government 24 points ago +24 / -0

Biden and his alphabet and Big Tech prosecution against us, is a kids game compared with Pinochet government.

JFL Demented, pedophilic, treasonous, murderous and worse, there's nothing redeeming about Biden. Pinochet comes off as a relatively benevolent political and military leader compared to this globalist sack of shit. He was heavy-handed when dealing with dissidents, sure, but nowhere near as monstrous as the garbage infesting the WH and its various departments and agencies. He at least improved the lives of his fellow citizens, materially and economically, unlike Biden.

When all is said and done, I would much rather live under Pinochet than Biden. I think the majority of pedes would agree.

12
JKillen 12 points ago +12 / -0

He wasn’t perfect. But communism has killed over a hundred million men women and children

A few dozen or hundred commies brutally murdered is a literal drop in a bucket.

He really was an economist Every communists executed publicly probably saved 10,000 Chileans from starvation!

Hi FBI fags! Hope you’re watching

5
Heavy_Metal_Patriot 5 points ago +5 / -0

That math is probably correct. A handful of commies can cause untold deaths.

6
NullifyAndSecede 6 points ago +12 / -6

I agree, I see this stuff as a dark humor to highlight just how bad our government has become that some aspects of a brutal dictatorship would be preferable by comparison.

A strongman won't save us.

17
Fuck_the_Government 17 points ago +19 / -2

JFL It's not dark humour. The Biden admin is already a brutal dictatorship. I know this may be hard to accept, but even the Pinochet government was far more desirable and humane than this current regime.

Right now I'm planning a monthly barbecue June through October for Republican neighbors to enjoy a conversation and have a meal. We'll see how it goes, it's been a while sine I knocked doors.

4
Jericho-Trompete 4 points ago +8 / -4

Thanks for understand me, but let me tell you something else, I'm still have inner fights against some demons that sometimes ask for a military coup here in America, to get rid of all this perverted communists who are ruling, but that is to open a Pandora box. And America has more civilazed people and strong institutions, is not a Banana Republic, not yet. Chile was the only one who did the right thing, dirty job (Pinochet) + change the system (the "Chicago boys").

10
TheFreeSpeechRadical 10 points ago +10 / -0

sorry to break the news to you. America is already a Banana republic. The first characteristic of a Banana Republic is a show election. 2020 was a show election like the CIA organised in Banana Republics. The second characteristic of a Banana Republic is no accountability for the ruling class. Well you tell me when was the last time Pelosi was audited. How is Newsom still governor? How is Fauci still roaming free? The third characteristic is a random justice system. (Kile Rittenhouse bail set at 5 million dollars, while horrendous crimes by BLM are set for peanuts and paid immediately. The Rittenhouse trial was a shit show that would pass as normal in a Banana Republic and as long as those prosecutors are allowed to practice their job it's only proving my point. And that was just a televised trial mind you. Thousands of trials everyday you don't hear about. The Fourth characteristic is a corrupt and weak military. A honest colonel gets court martialled for voicing his concern, while a general complains on social media why she can't have French Manicure. Do I need to say more? The Fifth characteristic is a complete blackedout dishonest media. That never offends the ruling class.

Not yet a banana republic. LOL. this is the kind of denial and laziness that got us in this mess for so long.

1
Reassess_Reevaluate 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've been saying this for two years now, but even my conservative friends think I've lost my mind and that the people are still in control.

Everything you said is right and it blows my mind that this isn't perfectly common knowledge at this point.

0
jhewish 0 points ago +1 / -1

2020 was not a show election.

They needed to work HARD to ram that through and cannot do that again without further adjustments which is going to be very difficult to do with everyone awake.

90% of the country knows without a doubt it was stolen and hates the federal government.

The 2020 election was probably the single greatest unifying factor in american history and one of the reasons the terrorist government is self destructing so badly.

Commie Allende takes over Chile, wrecks economy.

General Pinochet has a military coup, Allende commits suicide while surrounded.

Pinochet becomes the leader, institutes free market reforms.

Captures and kills communists, by some accounts throwing them out of helicopters.

Chile becomes the #1 economy in South America.

After everything looks good, Pinochet relinquishes power.

And this is why "democracy" never works.

You're better off with a good monarch than any democracy that can be corrupted and bought.

I refer Pedes to Hans Herman-Hoppe "Democracy: The God that Failed".

3
alucard13mmfmj 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah. There were some relatively good and fair monarchs/dictators.

You also need bad guys to keep the rest of the bad guys away.

2
based_trekkie 2 points ago +2 / -0

A Republic, if we can keep it

2
ceremony_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

And nobody ever could for more than a century or two.

In a monarchy, there is nothing to steal by the monarch because they have the titular possession of all property (they of course can grant it to others, or respect property rights). In the same way we have eminent domain, but it's rarely ever used.

In a monarchy, B-grade bureaucrats who are corrupt are not just acting against the rest of the citizens, they are actually stealing from the monarch. Unlike in a democracy or dictatorship, where instead corrupt bureaucrats are just stealing from citizens, as nobody has ultimate claim. Therefore, monarchs have serious issues with corruption, with severe fines and enforcement for anti-corruption.

In a monarchy, the ruling family can project and plan for the long-term; decades into the future rather than the current election cycle. This makes it possible to take on policies that are really in the country's best interests, rather than short-term "give-aways" to keep a particular group of people happy.

Because there are no elections (at least for the monarch, possibly for other positions), the influence of corporations, lobbyists, and PACs is nearly non-existent. Also, monarchs need not pander to particularly loud and rowdy minorities (e.g. BLM, Antifa).

It is entirely possible to have a constitutional monarchy; power need not be absolute. Think the Magna Carta. In fact, a Constitutional Monarchy, with a Bill of Rights may be the best form of government.

2
based_trekkie 2 points ago +2 / -0

True,

Add a few check and balances to ensure the monarch isn't barking crazy or an "anti-nationalist" and you have probably a better system than that devised.

Maybe something like a periodical referendum on the monarchy, where if a super-majority of citizens hate the monarch the monarch is forced to abdicate and a new one picked. Though this process could be influenced too...

Also would need a "demographics clause" meaning that X percentage of the population should always be the native inhabitants and that is defined VERY strictly and if the number drops them immigration is flat out STOPPED until the native population "recovers" to a certain percentage.

2
ceremony_ 2 points ago +2 / -0

It is entirely and absolutely in each monarch's interest to ensure sovereignty.

The basis of a monarch's authority comes from the acceptance by the citizens.

Importing foreigners only serves to diminish the monarch's authority - as they have no tradition or hereditary requirement to respect the monarch's authority.

There would never be a "Soviet Superstate" with monarchies, nor a "European Union" either.

When I was a kid in school I was taught Pinochet and the right wing paramilitaries were the bad guys and Che and their communist / socialist government sympathizers were the good guys.

Here I sit at the end of year 2021, where we have communist paramilitaries burning down our cities and their communist sympathizers raising chaos and doing nothing to stop it. I now sit here in full understanding that when the government sympathisizes with psychopathic communists and does nothing to protect the normal people that just want to make a quiet living, the right wing paramilitaries are all that is left to protect the people.

Pinochet was a hero.

The thing is, Argentina had socialist purges too, and it amounted to nothing. The thing that really saved Chile was that Pinochet appointed Friedman economists to manage the economy, because he couldn't trust the socialist ones. They are not as good as the Austrian economists, but still far better than the Keynesian ones, and the socialist ones.

A 'new right' for Chile José Antonio Kast, a 55-year-old lawyer and former congressman, was a member of the Unión Democrática Independiente (UDI), Chile's most conservative party, before deciding to run independently in the 2017 presidential election. Less than 8% of the voters supported him, but he created his own party a year later and decided to try again. A fervent Catholic and father of nine, he comes from a family of entrepreneurs of German descent. One of his brothers held several ministerial positions during Pinochet's infamous regime. In the introduction to his political platform, Kast presents himself as the potential leader of a "new right" centered on three pillars: freedom, the defense of law and order, and the strength of family.

Pinochet is the best thing that could have happened in South America, the Chilean economy improved in those times of world crisis due to the introduction of the disastrous communism in the American continent, all this achieved after removing the communist from Allende with a military coup (it was a president who stayed in power for stealing elections).

Grande Mi General Pinochet
