Lived in Aus, a lot of ausssies hate cats for fucking up the native bird populations. I personally love the little cunt apex predators

Same. They are more like us than most animals. I put them up there with doggos.

I'd like to see you being chased down by an emu and see you shit your daks - they are huge, they are fast and they are ornery as all fuck. Or might I suggest you go and search Cassowary.

Are ya'll the same idiots that keep repeating the hoax that Australians gave up all their guns?

This is true, it is a hoax. Currently there are more guns in Australia than before the Port Arthur Massacre.

As someone who lives in a desert climate I can understand cats being an invasive species. They are well-adapted to desert conditions as that's where they originated and they tend to kill off the native songbirds, lizards, etc.

6
LauriThorne 6 points ago +7 / -1

Who cares if you can own a gun if they restrict its use to the point of utter uselessness?

2
loverat 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah so when the Nazi's come to my door to drag me off to the concentration camp I'm going to say "gee I was told I can't use this gun in this situation, I'll just go quietly". If I was that kind of person I probably wouldn't have a gun in the first place. But my restricted and utterly useless Australian gun is going to blow your head off just as well as your American do anything you want gun.

1
LauriThorne 1 point ago +2 / -1

When the robber comes over and you have to open your safe, get the gun out, open your ammo safe and load it it won't be working any better than my loaded gun by my bedside, dumbass. Don't pretend your gun "rights" are on par with ours.

Cats to Australia Is probably like pythons to Florida. We can love and admire them but they can decimate native species.

FireannDireach 3 points ago +3 / -0

The irony is they actually have native pythons in Australia. Used to watch a youtube channel for an Aussie dude who's job was snake catcher, and pulling pythons out of people's attics and gardens. (Among many other breeds of nasty snakes - I don't mind snakes, but Aussies have some dangerous wigglers)

Found him:

2
loverat 2 points ago +2 / -0

I lived on a place called Russell Island in Moreton Bay Queensland, for two years. I once saw a python that was so big it was lying across the road and I couldn't see it's head or the end of it. No-one kept cats on the island because they would go missing without fail if left to roam around outside. Carpet snakes are very partial to cats.

2
Quietam_Unum 2 points ago +2 / -0

I lived on a place called Russell Island in Moreton Bay Queensland

Back in the day, we had a lot of Aussies on alt.sysadmin.recovery and they were always talking about the drop bears. Those were good times even tho USA sysadmins were very outnumbered by Aussies and Brits.

That USENET feed had some of the most awesome thread-drift ever

9
wufongtan 9 points ago +20 / -11

Yeah. they have been trying to bring this law in for yrs. Glad they got around to it. Once my neighbours cats disappeared my yard became full of native birds. I have a few native fruiting trees. With one right outside my lounge window. And it is now full of Rosella's, lorikeets, etc. Not to mention those little blue bonnets ( I think that's their name)

3
LoneStarDangler 3 points ago +3 / -0

What about the rodents?

Usually the problem with getting rid of the cats is that the rodent population booms. Along them the vermin that live on them and the predators that eat them(snakes).

4
loverat 4 points ago +4 / -0

That's what kookaburra's are for - killing snakes. Our eco system did just fine without before fucking cats, rabbits, foxes, Indian mynah birds and friggin cane toads were introduced.

2
LoneStarDangler 2 points ago +2 / -0

It was good before, now the ecosystem is purrrrfect.

1
wufongtan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Australia's native wildlife does a great job at keeping rodents down. And when they hit plague proportion, cats and natives don't make a dint in their numbers.

2
AussieTrumpFan 2 points ago +2 / -0

We've got both. Cats and tons of natives in our yard. We've even got some Blue Tongues that live in the shed.

What we've seen / caught the cats killing are the odd skink / detachable lizard tail, and tons of mice / rats with the plague at the moment. Our cats aren't really going after birds, but they do chase sparrows (and I've seen the dogs take a pigeon).

I even saw one of the cats get swooped by a Magpie just the other day while it (the cat) was tapdancing along the fence. The Rosellas love to sit in the trees out the front and laugh at the cats.

I'm not about to pretend that the furry little shits aren't top killers, but the only things they bring back to show us are actual vermin.

I will say, though, that spaying cats is essential to prevent inadvertent proliferation of feral cat populations. All cats I've ever owned were spayed as soon as possible.

1
wufongtan 1 point ago +1 / -0

No. bro. Spayed or not. Cats hunt it is in their nature. Even fat well feed cats hunt. You think you have wildlife in your yard now. Wait and see how much you get when there are no cats.

1
AussieTrumpFan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh, I get it. Growing up as a country kid, I got to see the effect barn cats had on their local environment. But, I also saw the effect that not having a furry little killing machine had.

For better or worse, us humans impact the environment around us just by existing. And there will always be a balance to try and maintain to keep some sort of homeostasis. I understand that many people see it differently, but I see the existence of neutered domesticated cats as an essential part of that balance in order to manage vermin. The cost in native wildlife is painful and is the bloodied side of the balance.

But, any human action tends to come at some cost to the pre-existing environment. Farmers putting crops in will displace whatever was living there before. Same for running stock. Suburbs will massively change the natural landscape, but we still live in them.

I'm all in favour of trapping, shooting, and eradication of ferals, and any cat in a national park / state forest should be fair game for shooters.

1
wufongtan 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah. You're a cat boy. Which is fitting as "cat" can be used as a slang for fag.

And it is not a nanny state if the majority want it. Nor is it a nanny state to wipe out a feral pest to save native wildlife.

As for us being "arse" (It's arse not ass. Ass is a mule, retard ) reamed. When are you going to wake up realize you faggots and your "muh guns" is nothing more than a meme? I live in Texas and we have a leash law for cats too. It's just another law that can't be enforced unless you are targeting an individual whose politics you don't like.

Laws should not be complex or stupid if you want them followed. I suspect they don't want them followed so they can selectively prosecute political enemies under cover of LAW.

I can't believe this is even up for debate. My pedes: Don't be an irresponsible douchebag. Contain your fucking animals. They are unwanted and destructive for dozens of reasons. 1
evenbiggerchubbys 1 point ago +1 / -0

I’m not condoning killing them. The responsibility lies with the owner of the cat. I say this from experience because I had a cat that used to get into other peoples yards and it taught me a lesson in pet ownership. Cats are destructive creatures, when they are in fights with the neighbors pets , who is expected to pay for the vet bills? When someone runs over a cat who takes a chance crossing the road. Who’s responsibility is it? Again it’s the owner of the pet. It’s the responsibility of pet owner to also keep their pet safe. I have had animals in my house almost my entire life. I’ve seen the consequences of bad pet ownership. From my self and others. The decimation of local bird populations is also a real problem. Some of the people in the community like to have birds come and see their yards. Cats make for a quiet yard.

-2
MotherOf13Furbabies -2 points ago +1 / -3

Attractive nuisance law in AZ says the homeowner CANNOT attack a pet or a child just for 'daring' to be on your property.

Common decency would already preclude someone from doing anything of the sort, without needing a law.

Actually there were some animal shelter somewhere in Australia, and they killed all of the animals before anybody could come pick them up because of the Covid shut down. I remember the story because it was about six or eight months ago. People were supposed to go to the shelter to pick up their animals, and before they could get there they had killed them all.

2
unred 2 points ago +2 / -0

Can't spread covid if you're dead. Gotta kill them for grandma. Gotta kill them all to be safe. It doesn't stop until we are 100% safe.

I love cats but they are murder machines and hunt for sport. They will absolutely wreck a local ecosystem.

4
Maga2020Maga2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

They kill everything they see, they are like little Faucis.

-5

6

I have a cat. It's a tiny murder machine. It stalks, it kills.

2

I have three. I also don’t let them outside to murder forest creatures. If they sneak in the house though, it’s fair game.

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

So do we.

3
ProphetOfKek 3 points ago +3 / -0

Cats are in no danger of going extinct.

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +2 / -0

Millions of species have gone extinct, and millions more will do so with or without your intervention. Why are these any more important?

1
ProphetOfKek 1 point ago +1 / -0

Why are they any less?

1
krzyzowiec 1 point ago +1 / -0

We don't go around saving every species nearing extinction, do we? If that is the goal, you're in for one miserable eye opening failure. If it's humans poisoning the environment, like we did with DDT and eagles, it makes sense to stop and try to save them I think.

From a natural predator though? That's a losing proposition if I ever heard one.

1
ProphetOfKek 1 point ago +1 / -0

Cats were an introduced species to Australia.

6
Bigjay [S] 6 points ago +7 / -1

They also suffer from plagues of mice and rats,. Which devastate natural habitat. Catch22

3

2
NavySTG 2 points ago +3 / -1

My parents house never had mice when there were several strays in the area.

9
ThisIsHowItStarts 9 points ago +9 / -0

This is so true. In Kauai there are roosters and chickens everywhere and people look down on them. But my family owns a home on a golf course, with quite a bit of acreage. We feed the chickens, and they keep all the pests away. Kawai is a very moist island, so without the chickens they would be so many cockroaches and bugs, etc. Between the chickens and the frogs and the geckos, I barely saw any bugs on the property at all.

8
America1stAndOnly 8 points ago +11 / -3

They'll get what they fucking deserve. In this case, possibly an actual plague, instead of their fake covid plague. This topic really shocked me in finding out just how many sadistic animal haters there are around here.

0
krzyzowiec 0 points ago +3 / -3

IKR? I’m reading this and glancing over at my cat Samson with concern lol. Animals just do what is in their nature. Only people try to control every little thing whether they understand it or not.

3

Europe did this once. Thought cats were part of witchcraft and killed them. Rats flourished, along with the fleas they carried. Those fleas carried the bubonic plague.

2

Well, clearly the cats were witches and got their revenge.

14

12
Femprep 12 points ago +12 / -0

This shouldn’t be surprising, in a country that has no real predators (rip Tassy tiger) the introduction of the cat (which adapts remarkably well with or without humans) has decimated some of the native species. Some councils have adopted a cat “curfew” to try and limit this but cat owners usually just ignore it and do what they want anyways. The same people try to save the environment and go on about white man’s taking land from the natives. Yeah, ok.

9
Lurker404 9 points ago +11 / -2

That's a good thing. Free-roaming cats are a plague.

The are an invasive species. They kill small animals like birds and lizards to the point where they become endangered.

They shit on other people's property and transmit parasites to humans via their feces.

-4
America1stAndOnly -4 points ago +4 / -8

Last time cats were killed en'masse rats proliferated and spread the black plague. An actual plague you moron.

3
AmannamedRJ 3 points ago +5 / -2

0
Lurker404 0 points ago +1 / -1

Ackshully, rats might only have played a minor role in the Black Death, if one at all. More recent studies suggest human fleas and lice spread the plague, not rats

-5
krzyzowiec -5 points ago +1 / -6

Why do the birds and lizards deserve to live if they can’t make it without human intervention?

Humans will do what they want to try and create the world they want, but it doesn’t make it better or right compared to any other.

2
Comentor 2 points ago +3 / -1

Human intervention is what brought cats to Australia in the first place

-2
krzyzowiec -2 points ago +1 / -3

True, but now they are part of the ecosystem.

8
CovfefeNegro 8 points ago +9 / -1

That's a sign of civilization, pets should be leashed if outside their premises. All domesticated animals, pets, should be leashed especially in urban areas.

Had free range cats tear up the top on my jeep years ago, I would shoot them with air rifles but more would come.

We are over-run with feral cats down here, animal control tells you to bait them and cull them in whatever numbers you can manage, they are pests and do a lot of damage.

https://files.catbox.moe/vp8uvv.jpeg

-4
krzyzowiec -4 points ago +1 / -5

Leashing a cat is a stupid idea.

4
CovfefeNegro 4 points ago +4 / -0

How so? There are laws surrounding domesticated animals and one is leash laws.

The best thing about the leash laws is when a cat gets shot it's owner cannot complain because the thing is supposed to be leashed.

https://files.catbox.moe/e4h2uj.jpg

-3
krzyzowiec -3 points ago +0 / -3

Should a parrot wear a leash too? Maybe you should wear one, you seem rather unstable.

1
CovfefeNegro 1 point ago +2 / -1

That's a good lil NPC, try to move those goalposts!! Then attempt weak-azz insult in lieu of coherent reply.

We speak of cats here, I asked you why it was a sytupid idea to leash them, you sought to evade and whine...

But your non-reply is a reply of sorts ain't it.

https://files.catbox.moe/d162p9.mp4

-1
krzyzowiec -1 points ago +0 / -1

Evading? I said it was a stupid idea. Some animals aren't meant to wear leashes, like cats and birds. It's ridiculous, but you would know that if you knew anything about the animals.

Dogs wear leashes because they can attack and hurt people, especially when not properly trained. This should be obvious even to a simpleton like yourself.

1
CovfefeNegro 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yeah, you did try to evade and still circled around it; our laws state cats should be leashed, you claim that it is stupid, why is it stupid?

https://files.catbox.moe/bsg57d.gif

https://files.catbox.moe/6y6wa3.jpg

-1
krzyzowiec -1 points ago +0 / -1

I told you why. They don't harm humans, duh. Should a parrot be leashed? Why? Thanks for the pictures, but I already know humans do stupid things. They dress animals too, does that make sense to you?

1
MagaBoardgamer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Parrot owners do generally have leashes for their birds for when they take them outside for some uncaged airing. How on earth else do you expect us to ensure they don't fly off? Look this stuff up before saying something so foolish.

0
krzyzowiec 0 points ago +1 / -1

No they do not.

1
MagaBoardgamer 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yes, we absolutely do. Avian vet clinics, pet bird forums, product searches for leashes made specifically for parrots, local parrot owner meetups . . . I mean, it takes almost no work to learn parrot owners often leash their birds. You might as well argue that we also don't know how to spell our own names while you're at it.

In case you don't know and at the risk of completely blowing your insular mind, reptile owners are also known to leash their animals, and there are also leashes made for rabbits, rats, and guinea pigs. They're an affordable way for people to air their pets who may not have the space or resources to build or purchase an outdoor enclosure.

5
Wupta 5 points ago +5 / -0

I’ve lived in Australia and cats which were brought in have devastated the native species. I’ve seen with my own eyes them attacking Australian possums. The birds and creatures in Australia have no fear of the cats as they don’t realize it as a predator they become very easy prey for these cats. Many cats have escaped and become feral and practically wound out entire species.

2
krzyzowiec 2 points ago +2 / -0

That’s weird. Possums here in the Southern US are quite vicious little guys. I’ve seen one have a standoff with my cat. Beautiful creatures, but they will bare their teeth and hiss at anything that moves.

2
2

Because they are invasive to the indigenous species. They wipe out small rodents and birds better than any other predators. That may be a plus when they get the squirrel destroying your house, but it's not good when the native bird species goes extinct. And if it's OK for them to wander then I don't want the neighbor to yell at me when my dog kills it

People say the same about white people. We were more successful. I don't see how it's different for the cats.

I hope a cat slashes open your neck and uses your fat gaping jowls as a litter box.

They have unlimited "emergency" power and are abusing it however they please.

4
Marshall2 4 points ago +5 / -1

I remember when EMERGENCY meant short term and high danger. These Emergency orders are neither.

2
wufongtan 2 points ago +2 / -0

No they don't. The faggot running Victoria tried to give himself unlimited powers but the people stopped him.

3
MsAnthropic 3 points ago +3 / -0

We haven’t stopped him yet - the final vote is next week. The bill could still get through.

Good . It's cats or birds in the yard.

4
DZP1 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, cats are destructive predators of birds.

4
rcstl 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, Oz has a feral cat problem, one that is killing other indigenous species. YT has a bunch of feral cat hunting vids for the curious.

1
Bigjay [S] 1 point ago +2 / -1

Oz also suffers from plagues of mice and rats.

Why are indigenous species so special in a world of survival of the fittest lovers? It's almost like, they're HYPOCRITES.

3
Forbidden_outcast 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’m laughing at all the cat lovers, who hate all the dog owners, and then get mad when the bird owners hate their choice of preferred pets, and so they designate them as monsters for wanting their preferred pets leashed, the same as they wanted dogs leashed, so as to not kill their preferred pets.

and no one seem to see the irony

It’S dIFfErEnT wHeN i Do It!

(I currently have had, or have all 3, btw. But this comment section is insane)

rcstl 1 point ago +1 / -0

Many people like birds and stuff. Too many cats kill all the birds.

At some point, commies made it illegal for us to kill them, so here we are!

1
Marshall2 1 point ago +1 / -0

I love seeing the Blue Jays attacking cats and cat squirrels. The Fox squirrels were much more attractive, but have all but disappeared since RITA.

0
krzyzowiec 0 points ago +1 / -1

That’s how I see it. If they can’t survive without human hand holding, then why do they deserve to live?

Are we really going to micromanage which species lives or dies? In the case of animals that we nearly drove to extinction, like tigers, I can understand human intervention, but otherwise it seems weird.

BlackToof_Grin 0 points ago +1 / -1

You're talking about humans introducing an invasive species and now, trying to remedy the issue, screaming "bUt MuH nAtUrE! THURVIVAL OF DA FITTEST BRUH!!"

Do you not understand the stupidity in that?

Best,

Toofy 🐸

Marshall2 0 points ago +1 / -1

Nothing stupid about it. Every environment is changing constantly and always has. Why is the one first seen by white men magical? It's just a point in time on an ever changing local environment.

Adapt or perish. It is the very essence of NATURAL.

krzyzowiec 0 points ago +1 / -1

Are white people an invasive species? We outcompeted and outbred the natives. Should we be curbed to "protect the indigenous species"?

Your point makes zero logical sense, although I'm sure it brings you some comfort and nice feelings.

1
BlackToof_Grin 1 point ago +1 / -0

Did you type any of that sober?

Please point to the higher functioning species that, keeping humans as a utility and companion animal, without any say from said white people, shuffled white humans on a method of transportation, and inserted white people into anything?

You're either incredibly drunk or incredibly retarded to even think to make that comparison.

Go to bed.

Their corrupt “leaders” are owned by the chinese communist party and are doing the ccp’s bidding until Australia can be invaded and taken over.

Bigjay [S] 0 points ago +1 / -1

Well from what I've heard,. A friend's parents live there,. They've said,. It used to be a nice mix,. Of white European,. Let's call them Aussies.. then a mix of Italian, Greek,. And a mix of Asians. China, Japan, Philippines, now their neighborhood is mostly Chinese,. With them owning two or three homes and renting to Papua New Guinea. Who are bringing huge waves of crime. Even forcing the Chinese to move out.

Hmm, I wonder how that's going to work out for some people. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jIoOJKLHeY0

You know, they banned cats in Europe a while back too. How did that work out for them? Oh yeah, the Black Plague. Because rats and the fleas on rats spread the plague. And because of how prominent the rat population became, the plague spread very very quickly due to so many rats.

Now, what would've happened had CATS not been banned due to church doctrine? https://starnorth.org/cats-people-and-the-black-plague-those-who-kept-cats-survived/

Long ago, England blamed cats for diseases and killed them in order to protect the rat population. The English literally helped caused the plague that killed most of them.

Now, they are protecting the demonrat party.

The best way to preserve a species is to turn it into a food source. The best way to make a species go extinct is to PROTECT IT.

Are there more cows or elephants? Think about it.

They've already been very harsh on the cats down there. Not very nice at all. And what do they get for their stupidity? Rat plagues. But they've been suffering from animal mismanagement for many years. Crazy explosive imbalances of various animal populations is the norm for Australia.

Let's not keep the RAT population in check.....morons

What's with them? They have the same commie bought leaders as the rest of the western world, but they also have up their guns and are isolated closest to China compared to UK etc.
