The world is ending in 11 or 12 years from climate change so it really doesn't matter

onemoretimeagain22 12 points ago +12 / -0

Yeah,, it ends pretty much every 10 to 12 years from something or another, I remember when acid rain ended it too

It's the climate change version of "just 2 more weeks..."

2033 headline: World Inevitably Ends in 2 Weeks Due To Climate Change.

And tax cuts and net neutrality killed trillions of people from what I recall too.

Yes to Nuclear...
Yes to Hydropower...
Yes to Geothermal...
.
.
NO to Wind...
NO to Solar...
NO to 'Battery'...

How about yes to all, where it actually makes sense.

3
TheMadManDidItAgain 3 points ago +3 / -0

I'm there with you, friend. Yes to all where it makes sense. Perhaps I'm not clear enough. I'm talking about providing power for the masses.

Solar is incredibly wasteful for mass consumption. We cannot harness power from the sun like people think we can. It's not a matter of being advanced enough to harness the energy... it's a matter of the amount of energy we can harness. Even if we can harness 100% of the energy, the amount of energy required to harness an incredibly small amount of power is completely wasteful. There's no point. I mean, sure, we can have a monstrously huge solar farm, that's a bit unrealistic, even with huge future advances.

Wind power is also insanely inefficient, and the blades are made of materials that cannot break down and only last 20 years and also cause numerous bird deaths and has shown to actually warm up the earth around the wind farm due to there being less breeze to help cool it off, plus they take a TON of room to be useful (same with solar).

So, the latter sources are great in theory, but very poor in reality. Maybe they have a limited purpose, but I'm not talking about very specific situations (like having a trickle charger powered by solar, that makes sense).

Yep, microgrneration. Solar can be more efficient on a smaller scale, where it's easier to store energy in batteries. And it reduces reliance on the grid.

Grid scale renewables has been a disaster though. Source: I live in Ontario where green energy is a huge scam and jacked up our hydro rates.

Hydro is so awesome. Grew up with 100% hydro and paid pennies for electricity.

The left says it's bad for the environment... but how on earth did they come up with that fucking crazy idea. 0 emissions, allows collecting massive amount of drinking water as it is staged which also keeps the water in movement, so it's fresh. They can increase / decrease demand almost instantly because the water essentially acts as a battery.

Pair this with geothermal to heat homes (at least in cold months to heat homes to 50 degrees and supplements the remaining 20 degrees with something else), and nuclear to provide supplemental power during dry spells, we essentially have unlimited constant power and heat... Geothermal might be expensive at first though...

The company I work for went all-in on solar/wind repair related stuff. Was the biggest loss we've ever had.

World is ending in 12 years anyways. That's why Nancy Pelosi bought her Florida beach mansion, so she can enjoy the view before it goes underwater.

She'll be dead before then.

Devils advocate we shouldn't be trying to burn through our natural resources. We should be trying to use other countries resources to save our own. There's no guarantee that batteries replace fossils fuels in hundreds of years. Sure seems to look that way and if I was a betting man I would say you're probably right. However what if you're wrong?

2
YouTubeSucksDicks 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have thought similarly. In the future, our resources might bring in big bucks. Not sure; can't predict the future.

And these are the known reserves.

There's research suggesting some reserves are replenishing themselves from sources we haven't even discovered. Despite this, we WILL have fusion power and gen 5 nuclear before we are in danger of running out and able to transition off these sources easily in the next 100 years unless the globalist leader/billionaire cabal decide to suppress these advancements as a means of controlling population through the MIT-predicted collapse of 2040 if the status quo is maintained.

Frankly, I imagine the leadership class wants this collapse because it will mean mass starvation and the deaths of billions to "save the planet" when in reality all we need is for China, India, Pakistan and Southeast Asia to stop dumping their plastic in the ocean and switch to nuclear to stop choking the planet with the majority of earths pollution as these new technologies become available.

If I had to guess I'd say ours will have more value in the future after we've used everyone else's

Sources for those numbers?

That alternate fuel source? Thorium nuclear.

Question who owns the ships and trains who transport this shit. Its all about control. If you have pipelines its free flowing energy. They hate the word free, in every context.

You can't really state things as simply as that, the numbers are not real. But they serve to make the point.

Yes we have reserves of oil and gas, far beyond what we need in the next 100 years certainly. What we do not have is excess refining capacity, our gas plants are running at max capacity. We do not have the pipelines needed to transport more product either, truckers are Great but not as efficient.

Another thing we do not have is honest government, we 'could' provide plenty of energy IF our double damned corrupt government would get out of the way and allow us to do so.

If you run out of heating oil this winter it is all on Traitor joe the pedo...and shortages are guaranteed now, everyone better be conserving and chopping wood. Traitor joe the pedo has promised us all a dark winter and by golly they are trying to fulfill that promise.

What was it Senator Kennedy (Louisiana) said... 'the oil is in Texas and Louisiana but the dipsticks are in D.C..
