I was thinking this weekend about George Washington and the cherry tree. It's now believed it was an apocryphal story, but it struck me how George became an Indian fighter...which would have involved hand to hand combat with sword and axe. Guns, thousands of rounds of ammo, radio comms equipment, months worth of shelf stable food, fuel and water for each member of the household. Interestingly, Roosevelt also had something to say about wealthy shadowy figures in control of the government instead of being in the hands of it's own people. I was thinking this weekend about George Washington and the cherry tree. It's now believed it was an apocryphal story, but it struck me how George became an Indian fighter...which would have involved hand to hand combat with sword and axe. Made me wonder if teen George was practicing his axe skills on a cherry tree on his dad's property and got a bit overzealous. Well, personally, I own a decent amount of land. I have farmer family, my wife makes plenty to support us until a new job, if I didn't decide to stay with the kids and homeschool which right now in my district isn't much need....yet. It seems to me that a very quick ruling would indicate maintaining the status quo--that is, no mandates. Upholding the mandates would have a lot of implications and considerations that ought to be discussed at length because it could set precedent that could dramatically change our nation forever. Therefore, this in addition to the rapidly shifting narrative, tells me to be hopeful.
Something .Win would also do well to consider is that the case(s) were argued on Friday on an emergency basis and the SCOTUS began its regularly scheduled calendar year today. It takes time for opinions to be written and for all the other clerking duties to be completed.
Also, with OSHA enforcement scheduled to go into effect in February, there is no pressing legal need to rush a decision out. No large company is going to risk forced vaccination, testing compliance, or firing between now and Thursday. The legal stakes are too high.
