Every day that you are overpaid on your taxes/awaiting a refund, you are giving the government an interest free loan, which in these inflationary times is costing you more than it usually does

My advice is to let them withhold nothing, then pay what you owe when you file and/or quarterly

But if you own no seizable assets, don't give them a fucking dime period

22
d_lock 22 points ago +22 / -0

If they pay you late 45 days (from the later of the date taxes are due, or date you filed), they're supposed to include interest -- I think it's at the prime rate.

That's not to say you should overpay your taxes. It's already been an interest deferred loan for an entire year, which is just stupid.

soapyballotjurybox 14 points ago +14 / -0

Can confirm. Was owed a lot and finally got my check, they included interest

Dratchev 10 points ago +10 / -0

I am still waiting on mine... almost a year later.

5
soapyballotjurybox 5 points ago +5 / -0

a phone call to them got the ball rolling for me at least

3
Prayeradime12 3 points ago +3 / -0

How did you get through? I can't get them to answer. Can't even get on hold. Automated system is a dead end with no answer for me.

3
soapyballotjurybox 3 points ago +3 / -0

The notice I was mailed had a number to call. I made sure to call on a Tuesday at 1pm CT (feel like that’s a slow time). Was on hold for about 20mins

1
Prayeradime12 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'll try that.. maybe they have different auto-systems engaged for phones at different times? I don't know, I called the main number I had multiple times... like 50 times probably over the course of a few weeks. But that was months ago now, need to try it again. Thanks have a good one

2

I gave up I could never get to anyone

2

Same, filed in February of 21

What would happen if everyone set up their taxes with no withholdings?

19
Blandeaux 19 points ago +19 / -0

What would happen if everyone quit paying taxes?

15
BigIgloo 15 points ago +15 / -0

They would print more funny money and try to kill us all.

14
SuccessLoveJoy2U 14 points ago +14 / -0

Aren’t they always doing this?

8
BigIgloo 8 points ago +8 / -0

Yep. So nothing would change lol

5
DJTrump 5 points ago +5 / -0

Exactly. Nothing would change. We're not even represented.

1
Latin_Patriot_MAGA 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's right, for them money is not a problem, they have already shown it, all they do is print and inflation does the dirty work that the globalists want.

5
AlinskianAntiLeftist 5 points ago +5 / -0

Good question. I wish that everyone knew how to fill out a W-4 to get zero withholdings. I did, and I'm never going back.

5
ZhouXiden 5 points ago +5 / -0

Isnt this "illegal" if you know you will owe income taxes? Or said another way, doesn't this violate tax code?

4
AlinskianAntiLeftist 4 points ago +4 / -0

On the W4 you sign, it says "to the best of my knowledge". It's not illegal to misestimate what you THINK you'll owe. Various things can happen in a year that can change your tax liability.

To the best of my knowledge, I have 99 allowances. I have zero withholding, and it's glorious.

Now, I have to write a big check on January 15th every year (that's tomorrow). But I have been making great use of that money in the meantime.

4
Ifeargovtmorethan 4 points ago +4 / -0

Me! Both me and my wife are independent contractors. The gubment gets to pound sand until I decide to pay them. I seriously have turned down very good salary pay jobs for this benefit alone.

3
SpiceMustFlow 3 points ago +4 / -1

Yeah not much.

They would print extra under the pretense that they will get it back.

You would have to withhold it and even then they could probably exploit printing for something like a decade.

It took that long for real inflation to kick in.

3
Harper42190 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nothing, they operate on credit. Corrupt fags

5
GrayManNumber333 5 points ago +6 / -1

They’ll fine you for that. Paying enough to be owed nothing is fine, but they don’t like being paid on April 15

5
d_lock 5 points ago +5 / -0

It really depends. If you made more, and pay what you paid last year, you're fine (Or if you pay at least 90% of your tax liability over the year). As the other guy said, if you adjust it quarterly you're also probably fine.

The penalties are really small, too. Unfortunately, they do probably make you more likely to get scrutiny in future years, which is the real cost.

4
rebelde_sin_causa 4 points ago +4 / -0

Not much. And you can erase that fine by paying quarterly. As I said. Just make sure you don't overpay on your quarterlies so as to avoid giving out the interest free loan. But how to approach this (end of year vs quarterly) will vary with the individual

3
AlinskianAntiLeftist 3 points ago +3 / -0

They don't mind being paid on January 15th. Tomorrow is tax day for me.

3
TheBestDuck 3 points ago +3 / -0

You should never complain that the government owes you money. It's like having a treasury bond but with crazy high interests.

3
sordfysh 3 points ago +3 / -0

Technically true, but they get loans from the fed. They don't use your money even if you give it to them.

Bureaucrats are worse than useless.

25
TrumpIsMyyPresident 25 points ago +25 / -0

Same for my Fiancee. She filed her taxes in April of 2021 and didn't get her refund until NOVEMBER 2021. Even worse, they sent a letter stating she was being audited in May and that they would follow-up with questions or provide the refund within 45 days. Yeah 5 months later.

Commies.

5
d_lock 5 points ago +5 / -0

Did she get interest? She should have:

https://www.irs.gov/payments/interest-on-underpayments-and-overpayments

The IRS did this to me when I did a study abroad through SUNY, and the school system put a completely different name on my tax information. The IRS claimed they hadn't accepted my return, but luckily my wife (girlfriend at the time) had just gotten certified as an Enrolled Agent, and knew they were full of shit.

5
laredditarmy 5 points ago +5 / -0

Why did they audit her?

9
TrumpIsMyyPresident 9 points ago +9 / -0

"Discrepancies in filing" we received no follow-up after the initial letter and the refund just appeared in November. No notice. No questions. Nothing.

Our guess is it's because she was a 1099 for a few months, had her own business (so self-employed earnings/Schedule C) and had a full-time job aka W2.

14
CommunismIsForLosers 14 points ago +14 / -0

Withhold nothing, save it and pay only what you owe, never a penny more.

4
d_lock 4 points ago +5 / -1

Make sure to pay quarterly, or the IRS will just hop in and seize any bank accounts they can find. It's happened quite a few times.

3
AlinskianAntiLeftist 3 points ago +3 / -0

Quarterly payments only become mandatory if you over-owe on April 15th. As long as you pay enough (by Jan 15th) to not owe too much, you're good.

2
d_lock 2 points ago +2 / -0

That sounds right. I'm not the CPA, my wife is, so she just tells me what to pay and when. I just try to build rules off of what she tells me to do.

There are some horror stories of "We thought this person wasn't going to pay their taxes so we took everything they own" from the IRS though.

2
AlinskianAntiLeftist 2 points ago +2 / -0

I get it. The IRS can do a lot of scary things. But they're like agents of the Matrix--they're powerful, but they have to obey the rules of the system.

It's worth learning those rules so you can know how to bend them--like I do :)

1
Libertas_Vel_Mors 1 point ago +1 / -0

I remember when the IRS audited our tax returns in 2015. Reason? They didn’t believe we went from a higher tax bracket to a lower tax bracket after my wife stopped working full time to tend to our children. Took months to sort out and get my tax return.

Fuck the IRS.

8
ethan123 8 points ago +10 / -2

In all seriousness doesn't the IRS pay you interest if they don't give your refund within a certain amount of time?

7
Guruchild 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yes

2
AlinskianAntiLeftist 2 points ago +2 / -0

Hereforagoodtime 6 points ago +6 / -0

I just paid my taxes from last year after fighting the IRS over the amount. They had me at $28K owed. I requested an audit (or review as they kept calling it), found out you can do that, and the final bill was amended to $15K. Fuck the IRS and know that you don’t need a lawyer to push back.

1

Hereforagoodtime 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah, my tax Bill this year is going to be super fucked. I pulled money out of the stock market and moved some rental property that I was finally willing to eat depreciation recapture on. I wanted the cash versus rolling it into another investment property. Paying off the new house we built last year and prepping for a shitty economy over the next 24 months. This inflation will eventually catch up to the stock market puppets and people will quickly realize that it will continue to be 7%+ for the next 2-3 quarters and stocks may tank.

1
laredditarmy 1 point ago +1 / -0

You sold your rental property? What do you mean by depreciation recapture?

2
Hereforagoodtime 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you take depreciation on your rental property and then sell it the government charges you a percentage of that depreciation back after the sale.

The math depends on each situation but it’s capped at 25% after so the math is figured out. My accountant explains it to me every damn time because I forget the math but know I’m taking the hit.

IRS charges interest for any amount you owe... But won't pay interest for giving you your own money back if you've over paid taxes.

3
d_lock 3 points ago +3 / -0

If they're 45 days after April 15 or when you file taxes (Whichever is later), they pay interest on refund due at the prime rate. Not a whole lot, and a year delayed already, but it is interest.

Gab Founder Andrew Torba Claims Trump Endorses RINOs for Financial 'Kickbacks'

Torba mentioned his rejection of a business proposal allegedly put forth by Trump in January. Referring to Trump's son-in-law, Torba said that "Jared Kushner's cronies" wanted to make money off of Gab's user data and its email list. Kushner also allegedly wanted Gab to change its user policies to "clean up" the social network's public image, Torba said.

If we get Trump back in office we need to push him to abolish the IRS, the FBI, and anything else that's against the citizenry. This is scripturally false.

We can discuss this if you like, because I'm willing to hear what you think. But I'm not interested in clicking a link to see what someone else thinks.

3
PEPEpeepee 3 points ago +4 / -1

The parable about the vineyard owner and the tenants killing his servants and son is literally about the jews killing the prophets and Jesus. “he is not a Jew, which is one outwardly; neither is that circumcision, which is outward in the flesh: But he is a Jew, which is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the spirit, and not in the letter; whose praise is not of men, but of God.” (Rom 2:28-29)

Since Titus killed most of the 2 tribes that still inhabited Phillistia that we don't even know who the true jews are. It damn sure aren't the Azkhenazi/Kazarian jews. They only picked up Judaism in the 9th century or so because they had Muslims on one side and Christians on the other so they picked a middle ground for trade reasons.

1
EtRpatriot 1 point ago +2 / -1

Let's go with Romans 2:28 then.

Was Abraham, for purposes of discussion at his death, circumcised in heart.

Some would say "no because Jesus hadn't died yet."

Im saying there is sufficient scripture to show clearly that such thinking is a wrong view of GOD and what, precisely, salvation means in the Bible.

But I'm down to discuss this in very fine particular detail in a more efficient medium.

2
SuccessLoveJoy2U 2 points ago +2 / -0

If there was any biblical book that I didn’t take too seriously it would be Paul’s correspondence with the Romans.

It reads like little more than political propaganda. At least to me.

If Paul was writing today it would be called “Paul’s Epistle to Washington DC” and it would tell us to all pay a full tax and be sure to vote in November!

When the Bishops and Pope in the Catholic Church compiled documents that make up the current Bible maybe a tiny bit of propaganda actually squeezed through?

Just an idea.

0
EtRpatriot 0 points ago +1 / -1

I am gladly with no ego telling you that you couldn't be more wrong.

It's called Romans because it's written to Christians who were living in Rome at the time.

And Romans is so very thick with theology, just explaining it one hour a week on Sunday would take years.

I mean... It's an onion in how layered it is in truth. I don't know how to describe it better.

As for "how we got our Bible" let me assure you from recorded history that the bishops and popes had nothing to do with it essentially.

Don't take my word for it. But from time analyzing his comments on gab and even responding to him with scripture to show him his error, I feel safe conclusing he believes:

Israel and jews are evil enemies of patriotism, and any blessing GOD had for them now rests only on Christians.

Edit:I confused this comment as being under the post I made just now. Please apply my comment in the context of that post.

I didn't attempt to make an exhaustive argument. And I would tell you, please do go look at his posts for yourself.

The problem is that below this statement is a fact from scripture which Torba denies:

The nation of Israel is a beneficiary of the blessing given to Jacob who was renamed ISRAEL, by GOD, and they remain the "chosen people" of GOD to this day.
