Maybe because being forced to wear a mask inside of a store ruins any semblance of enjoyment one might have gotten from shopping before.

111
ATK69 111 points ago +112 / -1

Doesn’t help when they all switched to curbside pickup for shit I can literally have delivered from the source to my front door. The whole reason for going to a store is ruined by a lack of stock and mask nazi employees. Oh yeah, sorry we don’t have that item stock, now put this mask on.

51
SeamusOtardy 51 points ago +51 / -0

Inflation isn’t helping. I just spent $270 on what looks like about $160 worth of groceries. Doesn’t really make me feel like running out to some retail store to buy some more shit I don’t need.

28
DanIsSwell 28 points ago +28 / -0

Right, when we’re paying double for food, and trying to fill up the tank, doesn’t make me itch to buy another fashion item or silly gadget.

20
spezisacuckold 20 points ago +20 / -0

Especially when most people's wages or salaries aren't indexed to, or increasing anywhere even close to the rate of inflation (which is in reality greater than 20% YoY) if they're increasing at all.

13
FireannDireach 13 points ago +13 / -0

I'm cutting aggressively right now, because the cost of food, gas, and electricity is rising, fast. I already cut useless shit out of my budget years ago.

I lived through this already, many times. Hunker down, it's gonna suck.

3
SeamusOtardy 3 points ago +3 / -0

Friend, I’ve been to the bottom before. You’re right, it does suck, but it’s survivable. I remember those days and I honestly don’t remember being any more nor less happy than I am right now. I don’t flinch at the idea of cutting it to bare bones. My family however, they’re a different story. They have no idea what it’s like to live that way. I think I’m more angry at the idea of them losing the life that they’re used to for some fuck-wad’s social engineering agenda.

3
FireannDireach 3 points ago +3 / -0

I didn't say it wasn't survivable, just that it sucks - and get ready for the Big Suck.

And you're right, most people I know are not prepared. At all.

And, I'm most worried about the seniors in my family, on fixed incomes. This will hit them the hardest, like it always does.

1
TrumpTheory 1 point ago +1 / -0

I don't think the nation has been to the bottom since the 30s, and they somehow got everyone believing the government not only didn't cause it but somehow saved everyone.

17
Shakakka99 17 points ago +17 / -0

Solid fucking points here, pede. I didn't even think about it like this.

13
Cyer6 13 points ago +13 / -0

I think the same theory applies to the work force shortage. Much of it is caused by people still getting paid to stay home, but a lot of it is employers abusing their employees by forcing muzzles on them all day long, day after day and some forcing vax's.

14
Dratchev 14 points ago +14 / -0

The whole "paid to stay home" shit ended months ago. the short is due to the nazi mask and poison shot bullshit.

20
BerettaStroker 20 points ago +20 / -0

Exactly. A large percentage of Americans in a 2-person adult household both work in an attempt to achieve the American Dream, which for most of us means enough to pay all our bills and some extra for a little bit of fun stuff occasionally. But force me to muzzle all day? Test weekly or more than that for the unlucky? Constantly threaten me in an attempt to force my compliance? Attmpt to shame me, tell me I'm stupid and dont understand "science?" Tell me I have to put shit in my body that can never be undone for the pleasure of working my ass off for you? FUCK THAT and FUCK THEM. I will batten down my family's financial hatches and wait for the inevitable worldwide fallout.

8
Cyer6 8 points ago +8 / -0

It did here in TX. They ended that months ago and employers are still struggling to find workers. Every business you go into here in my area has their employees muzzled up. I quit a job last year that said I had to wear that fucking thing all day long.

8
Murica4Trump2020 8 points ago +8 / -0

It's the government that forces the companies to mandate the mask. The mask is a symbol, If it goes away people will stop caring about Covid. State Health Departments be power tripping right now with fines and forclosure.

6
hey_spike 6 points ago +6 / -0

And early retirees.

Unless you make the workplace more inviting, guys like us will just stay home. Problem is that I will still be consumin' and driving the prices up. I will not be producin'. On the other hand, older people spend less and overall demand will continue to slump. Especially durable goods. Healthcare sector will still have strong demand from the aging population.

5
Cyer6 5 points ago +5 / -0

I retired early a few years ago. Went back to work in early 2020 just before all the covid insanity hit. Only wanted to work and the job had some great perks. I enjoyed it and liked working again after taking a couple years off. Then Abbott put his muzzle orders in place and that business was forced to comply. I was let go along with several others that day when we said no, not wearing that thing all day long.

This is something the media refuses to talk about. They say people are "afraid" to go back to work. I don't believe this. I think people who enjoy working have NO FEAR of this virus scam. I've had job offers from several places but when I ask about masks and vax's, they always have one or both in place. So I will stay home, enjoy my hobbies and retirement, and I don't think I'm alone on this. I would go back to work but not under this timeline.

Yes, stopping crimes is racist now.

Why would I reward this?

52
hansgruber7 52 points ago +52 / -0

I'm convinced Amazon is supporting lockdowns, face diapers, and being soft on crime because they want to shut down physical stores to help their business. There is a reason Bezos bought the Washington Compost and uses it to push all these lies aggressively.

13

Very true. Not just the masks but the bullshit checkout line placement/markers that every middle aged female cashier power trips on making sure you comply. I've walked out of a few stores leaving my items behind if they make a fuss about it.

7

Hell, even fellow customers will give you grief sometimes

11
Wholelottarosie1776 11 points ago +11 / -0

agreed. i used to browse stores because i was bored and its something i like doing. Now i get harassed and assaulted. Its not worth it. I have things delivered. It's not worth dealing with shitty people.

Plus you have the most incompetent employees there. rude, lazy, no sense of urgency or customer service skills. I don't care to be around misreable people.

And on top of it all, NY is a 3rd world shit hole, so you are surrounded by the great unwashed. PASS

2
unicornpoop 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'd take a shitty cashier over NO cashier. My local grocery stores will run 1 checker, or sometimes no checker at all, forcing everyone to go through those tiny self check-outs and trying to find a place to stash all their groceries after they scan.

27
wat_meme 27 points ago +27 / -0

No one wants to buy Christmas presents in December if they think they are getting fired in January.

I am OK with some shrinkage, I buy too much crap still, and I have spent years cutting back.

I have given gift cards every year and honestly, it's a waste and a chance for everyone to go buy cheap junk on Amazon. That was $300 less in my gifts this year. I also continued my homemade gifts, so I have really cut my budget, even with buying materials for the gifts.

This year my skill I am learning is soap making. This includes soaps, salves, lotions, shampoo bars, and whatnot. I get to learn a new skill, and my family and friends will get handmade products that have no chemicals (except for lye I guess).

2
Ninjavideo 2 points ago +2 / -0

The way forward

-4
Lila_Quartermaine -4 points ago +3 / -7

Gift cards are a cop-out. If someone gives me a gift card I assume they can't be bothered to think of something more meaningful.

I would appreciate a handmade bar of soap more than a gift card. I imagine your gift recipients feel the same.

Last year I made a hobby out of putting together a tea set from old Lenox china patterns. (Lenox Kingsley. It's very pretty in person, and even managed to hunt down the rarest piece of all: the teapot.)

Some part of me feels bad for not buying new stuff instead, but the problem is, Lenox's teapots are only ever made in China anymore, even though they have a pretty good selection of American teacups. (I really don't get why.)

I don't even go to places that require masks anymore. Was getting take out from a place near me, they have great paninis and fries but the owner got "covid" recently and is now enforcing the mask thing. Told the one guy working well wont see me around anymore and he actually said they might do a take out window but its just going to make them overworked even more. Said "i think we see eye to eye on the mask thing" lol

7
King_Boobus_Toobus 7 points ago +7 / -0

AP trying their best to spin the numbers for the regime. Down 1.9% from November to December. That's abysmal. December sales are supposed to carry them for the year! Now compare December 2019 to December 2021.

Welcome to the Great Reset.

Destroy middle class, create a subservient and dependent class.

Destroy small businesses, force people to work for big corporations or the government.

Destroy retail, force everyone to shop online, which in reality is an Amazon-led cartel.

6
SuperKek 6 points ago +6 / -0

If they support the current regime I ain't buying.

6
SecedeNOW 6 points ago +6 / -0

Even worse than one may think because much of what is sold is being driven by supply crunch so people buy extra. It's essentially pulled forward demand, there's a snap back afterward, especially when supplies dry all the way up.

6
SeeFreeDJ 6 points ago +6 / -0

They encouraged people to finish their Christmas shopping by Halloween this year due to supply chain disruptions and shortages. No shit December numbers were down. Get this zombie out of the WH while there's still an economy to save.

Supply chain issues of course, but what's up next I fear is that no spending (Christmas retail spending was down) will result in Help Wanted signs starting to disappear, and hiring will freeze. This new level of suck will be accepted until economic forces change for the better.

I had some pretty lousy weeks on eBay in December too, not nearly as good as it should be.

But I agree a lot of it is due to the mask crap. I set up for an event at a college and the attendance was down, maybe 1/3 of what it should have been and I packed up and didn't even stay for day 2 because I would have had to show a vax card if I did.

The flea market I go to has been pretty quiet the last few weeks too.

I imagine many people were like my wife and purchased early to avoid shipping delays.
