If you have not yet.... make sure to find a RIFLEMAN COURSE to be able to Maximize your abilities with a rifle .... You and that AR should be highly effective out to a quarter mile - and the overall skills to use it properly for more than just a shot or 2 and rather extensive.
Cheap and the best weekend you will have had in a long time! They teach a modified WWII GI basic training class - and teach exactly how to use the sling - the natural point of aim - and how to use your iron sites and scopes, etc.. And the class is 95% taught on the Range, gun in hand.... you will shoot maybe 400 rounds so lots of folks actually set up a Ruger 10/22 and use that - but the SKILLS LEARNED are priceless.
and they teach American Revolution History during breaks... it is great for everyone in the family... bring the kids and bring the wife if they are ready to shoot.
Due to the price of ammo, and lack thereof, ive been plinking with my .177 Marlin cowboy. It shoots a little truer than my .177 Red Rider. 😎 Over Christmas I did take my Armalite .223 and my Ithica 20 Ga over under out for a date.
That's a lot better than most and sad to say about what I've been doing. Planning a suppressed large caliber air rifle but that is a 100 meter weapon. It's really cheap to shoot and definitely a one shot kill. That got put on hold by Christmas excess and some unexpected loss.
Done a bunch of plinking at the range and my friends range on his property. Still even target shooting doesn't match more sophisticated workouts. Was thinking at the gym this morning after posting that really needs to change.
Pick up a couple of airsoft guns (pistol and rifle) to practice fundamentals. Treat it like you're shooting real ammo. You can do it in a basement or backyard. Basic shooting fundamentals start with dry fire and non-shooting exercises. Presentation, stance, sight alignment, trigger squeeze and follow-up. I took my LTC in TX a few years ago and used the instructor's guns. Didn't feel like cleaning my own gun and wanted to see if my fundamentals transferred over to a strange weapon. Without ever having put a round through that new weapon system, shot a perfect score. All I did is apply those fundamentals like that you can with cheap options like airsoft.
Is that by design or something else, once I told myself I was never going to kill another living thing. Two chuckleheads on meth or crack altered my plans. Now I just accept my nature and struggle through life like everyone else as a work in progress.
If you knew what I was taking to the range back then.... But Texas is like a whole another country and nobody here took the Arkansas hillbillies very seriously.
I was going to California pretty regularly in the '80s and it wasn't insane yet. But most of the people that worked for the same company really thought I had a horse and possibly wrote it to work. My boss said one time said when we were drinking he wanted to see my gun collection but he was afraid that would be the day I'd get arrested.
You'll learn history and marksmanship at the same time. If you don't have any formal training with the AR, this is a good introduction.
Afterwards, take a defensive carbine course from a reputable training program. Do your due diligence and look for reviews, videos of the class, and see if your instructors compete in something (IPSIC, IDPA, Falling Steel, Local 3 gun, etc.). If your instructor doesn't compete, there's a good chance that they are teaching outdated techniques.
Attended, can confirm it’s great. Get training and shoot a ton safely, take breaks and hear incredible stories about 1775, take a lunch break outside, it was a good time.
Depends on what gun you're putting it into.. My Ruger Mini-14 stovepipes and jams on Wolf steel. My AR has never had a problem with it, but I'm not taking any chances.
I have found that the newer Wolf is really under powered. We ran some over a chronograph out of curiosity. It is barely enough to cycle. The old stuff was powerful. Their 9mm barely clears the port on some of my pistols. Disappointing, as back in the day it was good.
Stovepipes are usually under power, not running back enough to eject properly. Try other steel brands, might do better.
I feel like the "steel sucks" is the same fudd garbage as "AK is inaccurate communist piece of garbage". All fucking fudd-lore. I'm not denying that brass is of course better, but steel is perfectly serviceable. Any well-designed gun should run steel just fine. It is a little tougher on extractors but those are cheap and easily replaceable. You're gonna save the price of an extractor in one range trip. They are a bit underpowered but I don't see it as a serious issue. Bottom line to me, steel is 95% as good for half the price.
I feel the same way. If a gun I have will not shoot steel, I don't want it. I want a weapon I can beat the shit out of and still run. It's a tool. If your tools don't work, what's the point.
Most of us will never come close to shooting enough rounds to make a difference. Even GarandThumb says you will be able to buy a new barrel by the time you need it with all the money you will save on steel case for training.
Great point. Probably a good idea to stock up on spare parts for anything you can. Shit does break. Always good to be prepared. Especially since you have to assume that if shit goes real far south, you won't be able to wait for the UPS guy to bring you a spare.
I just sent an L1A1 parts kit in for assembly. Got it from the same guy I’m sending it to for $350 dollars. Original 1950s British surplus. All complete, too. Only had to get the right 922r parts and the receiver.
My ar10 is good with steel, but I haven't found a 9mm handgun that tolerates it. I got a bunch of 45acp in steel, have not tried it yet.
I'm going with "if the rifle can't take steel, it doesn't deserve brass"
I pay for armslist because the left is using frivolous lawsuits to try and run them under. I barely even use it but I'm not going to abandon them just because the left is after them.
I'd also like to plug ammosquared.com as a great secondary way to get ammo. You basically give them a weekly, bi weekly, or monthly amount of money (as low as $5) and they convert your dollars into rounds. Got 800 rounds waiting for me but still haven't gotten to the $250 amount yet to get free shipping.
Learn how to deal with those variables on the range, not when it matters.
Chances are the shift isn't going to be much compared to someone's personal grouping, but I'd never recommend not training, at least partially, with your carry ammo.
Using two sets of ammunition consecutive with one another without rifle maintenance isn’t going to teach you shit when it comes to grouping.
I can understand variable conditions, rain, dark, hot summer etc. but mixing your ammo on your “first AR” isn’t going to tell you shit and won’t make you an operator.
The only issue I've had with steel is in a 7.62x39 bolt gun. The steel expands into the chamber on firing and is so much harder than brass that it makes turning the bolt difficult when you go to extract the round. Steel works fine in all my semi-autos.
Where'd you get them? Ammoseek.com will find u the lowest ammo. But I like to order off of cheaperthandirt.com , bulkammo.com and luckygunner.com I've always had good service from them..
Tho I did just subscribe to federals new monthly subscription for 40 caliber
They make some fantastic, fantastic ammo. The downside is it's so fucking expensive and they rarely have stock. But when you get something, their ammo is the best.
Yeah working on getting a sling. Bought some hex mags, they suck. I will never buy hex mags ever again. Only P-Mags or HK. I do need to get a light also, working on it.
Blue Force Gear vickers sling is good to go for a sling.
As to weapon lights, the Streamlight HL-X is a good budget option. For optimum quality, look at the Modlite PLV-H2, Cloud Defense Rein, or Surefire 300 series.
I have several and while they've never failed, they do this thing where when you load a mag on a dropped bolt for whatever reason, after you charge the bolt the top round pops up and out of the mag a little bit at kind of a weird angle. Once again, it will still charge fully and you'd probably never notice, but it concerns me that they do that when I've never seen another mag act the same.
Haha. At least ya know what you need. TBH, I'm never happy with my builds...always something else to do.
Some more ideas are a quality cleaning kit, and a basic tool kit. I bought the Real Avid brand tool for Glock on Amazon and I use it EVERY time I go to the range.
Oh, an "Airsoft vest" from Amazon. I paid $32 DOLLERS for one and it's GREAT quality, holds a shit load of mags and my sidearm as well. It's beefy.
A plate carrier only protects from the notch of your clavicle to the bottom of your ribs. Soft armor, which isn't usually rated for rifle rounds, will cover more, but they still aren't much larger.
Go to gunmagwarehouse.com. You can scoop AR mags as low as $10 right now. Metal and polymer. The Hexmags are the first you see when you click on rifle mags and they're really well built mags and cool looking too.
Basic QD sling off amazon is cheap and works great. It's not gucci but it's more important to have a decent sling now than to choose the perfect sling eventually.
I went with https://ferroconcepts.com/ for my slings during their black friday sale. I would have had trouble choosing between them and Vicker's if they had black multicam in stock, but they didn't at that time.
Warrior poet society sling is really nice, but you can get away with something like Magpul. For lights if you want stupid expensive for no reason but quality look at surefire, otherwise look at streamlight
Yeah Is saw the prices for surefire, I was like NOPE. I will proablly go with something cheaper like streamlight. I'm not spending 7 million dollars on a gun light. I would spend more if was doing room clearing for living for sure. Bu that was not in the cards.
LOL.. yeah some optics and accessories are really pricey. But at the same time, you have to ask yourself what is the price you will pay to protect your life and others. Would you cheap out on it, probably not. Some things you can get away with being more practical, other things not so much.
Remind me this evening to do that. I am traveling and cannot check what that is. I spent a bunch of time researching that for a set of pistols I built over the holidays and I found that + deals on it. I just can’t recall which light it was off the top of my head.
Unless you're extremely tall, 30 rounders will contact the ground when firing from a comfortable prone position. Appleseed teaches sling supported prone, seated and standing positions, 10-round phases with a mag change in the middle, so you want 20s or even 10s for the prone portion. You only need 2.
There is no point on a full-sized carbine AR. 5.56 is light enough recoil that you should not need a break. Now if you have a short barrel, you might want to consider
If you are only shooting out to 100 yards, I hope you live in a city high rise. If shit ever hits the fan and you aren't in a deep urban environment, 100 yards is practically knife fighting. Get comfortable shooting to 300 yards at a minimum.
The worst part about AK's is that you can't just own one. You buy one and next thing you know is you're staring at a safe full of AK's trying to figure out how you got there.
Yeah I feel that way about guns in general. Shits guns are way worse than a drug addiction sometimes. I remember getting this gun and I had not even shot it yet and I was looking for the next one. Shit was nuts.
The first time I owned an AR I was getting familiar with it, breaking it down etc.
I ejected the magazine and assumed the gun was cleared. Nope. I pointed the gun toward the ground and pulled the trigger and pow!
Fortunately my dumb ass used some sense when doing that and discharged it accidentally into the ground.
I spent a week watching safety videos and ultimately a close call like that made me very safety conscious from there on out. But it got my attention. Probably since no harm no foul but it rattled me for a while and could have been disastrous.
I drop the mag, cycle it a few times, look into the chamber.... and I still point it at the ground and pull the trigger before I can accept it's actually clear. Good on you for learning and not saying "AD's are a fact of life"
Best thing to make Swiss cheese and very easy for a drop in, but expensive, do you know how many rounds it can go through, I had to stop playing with it like they show on the video, I just shoot 1 round at a time
I ignored the advice to get a .22lr when I biught my first gun. Everyone said something about recoil, and I didn't care about that. They should have told me about how quiet you can make them and how much more often you get to shoot them in reality.
So my first rifle was an M1A. I figure 7.62x51 iss a good solid cartridge that packs a punch out to ranges that would test my skill, would make a good all-around civilian rifle for most practical common civilian purposes such as shooting steel or whitetail. Never been whitetail hunting, but really want to. Also figured in a pinch, it may not be optimal, a bit heavy, but I could defend myself with it or use it for SHTF.
After 1000 rnds, I realized I needed a .22lr if I wanted to shoot more, so I got a souped up TacSol 10-22 takedown and a dead air mask. I freaking love that thing. Perfect camping gun, can shoot it hollywood quiet all day and the Karen's have no clue.
But then I wanted something more suitable for personal defense. Figured I had small and large game covered, if I ever go hunting, as well as medium range defense. So my first AR was a DDM4 PDW. I put a magpul sling on it, love to quick adjust and metal pieces. Primary Arms SLX 1x microprism (love this sight) and I've got the new 3x micro magnifier coming when it is released. Surefire dual fuel light. Dead air Nomad-L for quiet fun with the keymo flash hider. For defense I plan to run it with 110 gr supers unsuppressed. Subs with the massive and long Nomad-L are mostly for fun, but I can take the can on and off quickly and fit everything into a backpack if needed. Cool thing is that it runs literally everything, supers suppressed/unsuppressed, subs suppressed/unsuppressed, without changing any recoil springs or gas settings. It is a pretty accurate gun and with supers I think it could work out to 200 yds effectively, and it is compact for vehicle and indoor defense. I don't realistically see a need for a defensive firearm that is optimal at 300+ yds but you never know. I tried to go for guns first that I would be more lilely to use day to day for nonviolent reasons.
Id love to get my hands on a Sig P227 (maybe the new P220 equinox if since the 227 is discontinued and expensive AF when you find it), A marlin dark 45-70 when ruger starts making them again, a ruger MkIV, a Sig 365 with an aftermarket aluminum grip, and a Beretta 1301 done up by LTT with a spare barrel and plug for bird hunting. And probably 3-5 mid-range or budget 16" AR-15s in 5.56 to "arm the locals" in a SHTF scenario.
But I lost all my guns on a scuba diving trip somewhere at the bottom of the ocean, so I guess Ill never have that collection I wanted.
I know man I brought them because you never know, wouldn't want some pirates grabbing all the girls on the boat to sell into white slavery. But turns out it's pretty easy to lose them on rough seas. Oh well.
I love it. Beautiful gun, feels great to shoot. If I was made of cash I would have gone fulton armory, but I did the SA scout squad instead with walnut stock. Removed the scout rail and swapped the handguard for a walnut one. Plan on putting a 1-8x LPVO up top, maybe swapping the comp for a NM flash hider, maybe ill put a QD flah hider for my Nomad-L instead but dunno what to do about the gas issues if I do. That comp is just so loud.
I agree though. While the AR-15 would be more suitable in Kyle Rittenhous's situation, I feel those defensive situations are rare enough to where the AR-15 is actually not that useful in practical reality compared to a .308. You will just get more opportunities to shoot in a real-non range scenario with a .308 was my reasoning (even though I have yet to find someone to take me hunting!)
Some states even require 30 cap to hunt, while these laws are stupid (plenty of devastating rounds that hit harder with sub-30 diameter than lots of anemic 30 cal rounds) there is no question .308 is a superior medium game cartidge to the .223.
For a sling a 2 point is best. I highly recommend vickers slings. Also invest in some decent lube, I recommend EWL, and a GOOD cleaning kit. A lot of people damage their rifles from improper cleaning. Get a single piece carbon fiber rod. The stupid cleaning rods that are multi sectioned, those can damage the rifling. If you damage the rifling or damage the crown, you are screwed.
As mentioned elsewhere, a training course is a must. When I was taking training courses in Florida, I noticed that many people tend to start finding out that they are awkward with the gear they have or just simply are uncomfortable maneuvering and using their setup. I remember people having their magazines fall out of their rifles because they didn’t properly seat them or this one guy accidentally loaded 31 rounds into a 30 round magazine causing a jam when he actually went to shoot.
I had to take it off, it would not fit with all three on there. It would have to be way too far up and also on the line were you take off the upper. I would of had to take off my red dot every time I took it apart.
Or just the magnifier. Which people tend to not want to use regardless because it makes it so you cant shoot with both eyes open, something that I find is a much bigger drawback than it is worth for an AR with a red dot.
I've never been a magnifier fan. Either go shorter or go longer range - this middle of the road stuff just adds weight to a weapon that now doesn't do either very spectacularly.
Yeah it does have it drawbacks for sure. I really want to get a LPOV also. Once with really good eye relief. The one I was using on a buddies AR I was having a hell of time with eye relief, at the point it was really hard to use.
Maybe change that Barrett style break for a flash hider to throw sound forward instead of back at you and bystanders, you'll get it when there is no time for earpro.
My 2¢
Yeah my buddy has the saint victor. His wife got if for him because his name is Victor. I did not get to shoot it because he did not have any 300 last time we went to the range.
I recently watched a video on upgrading one's AR and the person doing it said that that Bravo Company buttstock you have there is one of his all-time favorites. I normally go for Fab Defense stuff, etc., but it piqued my interest. I'll get one of those eventually to check it out. Looks very good.
Nice, you've got long range defense covered as long as you have ammo. I recommend a pump shotgun for invasion defense and a 9mm for what A and B don't cover
That’s a good option for an out of the box weapon. Don’t listen to the fanatics. Training is like riding a bike you will pick it up fast and training from a 22 is practically as good as real training. Shoot what’s affordable and stockpile whaat you need.
The Rifle is great....
and to you and others...
If you have not yet.... make sure to find a RIFLEMAN COURSE to be able to Maximize your abilities with a rifle .... You and that AR should be highly effective out to a quarter mile - and the overall skills to use it properly for more than just a shot or 2 and rather extensive.
Find an Appleseed Class -

Everyone who goes has a blast!
The worst rifle in trained hands is better than the best rifle in the hands of a fool.
Practice practice practice even a .22 target pistol can keep you sharper than doing nothing.
Having training isn't the opposite of being a fool. You can be a fool with training.
Sadly for some that's true.
But riddle me this: Would you rather have trained fools that might catch a clue or pure free range idiots that never had any help at all?
I thought free ranged is good- like free range chicken 🤔
Whether it's good or hilariously funny I love that comment!
Due to the price of ammo, and lack thereof, ive been plinking with my .177 Marlin cowboy. It shoots a little truer than my .177 Red Rider. 😎 Over Christmas I did take my Armalite .223 and my Ithica 20 Ga over under out for a date.
I’ve been exclusively plinking with 22lr for that reason. Henry Golden Boy, Sr22, and 10/22
That's a lot better than most and sad to say about what I've been doing. Planning a suppressed large caliber air rifle but that is a 100 meter weapon. It's really cheap to shoot and definitely a one shot kill. That got put on hold by Christmas excess and some unexpected loss.

Air guns can reach well past 100yds and still be consistent. They just have a lot of drop at longer range.
Yes.
But I'm interested in a One-Shot kill every single time. That's possible 150 yds. But not always possible.
Pick up a couple of airsoft guns (pistol and rifle) to practice fundamentals. Treat it like you're shooting real ammo. You can do it in a basement or backyard. Guns don't kill people. Proper sight alignment, sight picture, breath and trigger control does.
That gave me a belly KEK thanks!
I haven't fired my guns since 1998. :(
Is that by design or something else, once I told myself I was never going to kill another living thing. Two chuckleheads on meth or crack altered my plans. Now I just accept my nature and struggle through life like everyone else as a work in progress.
It’s because he’s got full autos (;
He would have several critical parts so that wouldn't be an issue fren.
I was making reference to the AR ban signed by Clinton in 98. Between 98-04, taking an AR to the range just got you a lot of unwanted eyes.
94 fren
If you knew what I was taking to the range back then.... But Texas is like a whole another country and nobody here took the Arkansas hillbillies very seriously.

120% right.
Second recommendation for Appleseed.

Thank you for this information!
First you apply for a home equity loan so you can afford to buy a few boxes of ammo...
Yeah I had to buy a bunch of steel .223. 5.56 is outrageous right now. Well, all ammo price are outrageous right now.
As Señor Herrera put it, “If it can’t take the steel, it doesn’t deserve the brass.”
I feel the same way. A lot of people whine about steel. It has not failed me yet, and I shoot a lot of steel.
Depends on what gun you're putting it into.. My Ruger Mini-14 stovepipes and jams on Wolf steel. My AR has never had a problem with it, but I'm not taking any chances.
my ak eats the steel up. ar... complains.
this is of course back before their tragic loss in a houseboat fire
AK's are like starving dogs ... they'll chew up anything you put in them
AR's are like fussy cats, everything gotta be just perfect or they barf.
ahhaha truth. the AK heats the hell up though. i think that's the biggest thing i didn't know before.
I have found that the newer Wolf is really under powered. We ran some over a chronograph out of curiosity. It is barely enough to cycle. The old stuff was powerful. People like to complain about steel wearing the extractor out faster than brass. It's a $0.04 part, buy some spares if you're worried.
Great point. Probably a good idea to stock up on spare parts for anything you can. Shit does break. Always good to be prepared. Especially since you have to assume that if shit goes real far south, you won't be able to wait for the UPS guy to bring you a spare.
In the olden days there were some ARs that couldn't handle steel. I haven't seen one that couldn't manufactured after like late 90's.
Senor Herrera is wise. Made me buy steel .223 and made me go get an AK built. Builder is just now getting parts shipped. I'm excited.
I just sent an L1A1 parts kit in for assembly. Got it from the same guy I’m sending it to for $350 dollars. Original 1950s British surplus. All complete, too. Only had to get the right 922r parts and the receiver.

Herrera is a fun guy, and passionate, but AKs are a novelty.
Tell that to the vast majority of global conflicts since 1947.
Did you forget that the Taliban traded in their AKs for M4s?
Better platform.
Ammoseek.com bought 1000 rpunds of 556 for like 350 amd it came with an ammo box
Ammoseek is clutch af.
What do you mean? I've never paid to use AS.
Brainfart read armslist
I pay for armslist because the left is using frivolous lawsuits to try and run them under. I barely even use it but I'm not going to abandon them just because the left is after them.
It’s not paywalled is it? I think you just have to log in, but it’s free to sign up
That's actually not too bad.
Damn those are Trump time prices….off to the inter webs I go
I'd also like to plug ammosquared.com as a great secondary way to get ammo. Outdoorlimited is another good one...ESPECIALLY if you live in NY because they will ship to your door
Groups will shift due to different ammo types
All the more reason to reduce the number of changing variables on the range…
Learn how to deal with those variables on the range, not when it matters.
Chances are the shift isn't going to be much compared to someone's personal grouping, but I'd never recommend not training, at least partially, with your carry ammo.

They make some fantastic, fantastic ammo. The downside is it's so fucking expensive and they rarely have stock. But when you get something, their ammo is the best.
Looks good, but you'll want to add a quality flashlight as well as owning LOTS of magazines (They are only $20, so own at least SEVEN).
Throw a nice sling on there, and you'll be good!
Slings are the most underrated rifle accessory.
Found Kyle
Kyles favorite is the forward assist.

Buy em now before the AFT tries to ban them in more places.
Lancer mags. Check gunbroker.com and sort by price, check for no cc fee and shipping costs, usually way cheaper than anywhere else I’ve seen.
Yeah I have heard good things about Lancer.
It's beefy.
The old adage: "Your first build is never complete."
I'm a massive dude and I want a good vest... but all vests look hilariously tiny on me.
A plate carrier only protects from the notch of your clavicle to the bottom of your ribs. Soft armor, which isn't usually rated for rifle rounds, will cover more, but they still aren't much larger.
Get a bullet proof blanket and wear it like a cape :)
Surefeeds are great if you like the look of GI mags.
Go to gunmagwarehouse.com. You can scoop AR mags as low as $10 right now. Metal and polymer. The Hexmags are the first you see when you click on rifle mags and they're really well built mags and cool looking too.

Thanks for the link pede! Just stocked up
Np, Pede. Gotta keep my brothers stocked up the fuck up for when we are being rounded up for the gulags.
Make sure they work with all your ARs. I've had issues with Hexmags not seating and feeding in all ARs.
I'm a pmag guy
Basic QD sling off amazon is cheap and works great. It's not gucci but it's more important to have a decent sling now than to choose the perfect sling eventually.
The loud end goes towards the commies
Legit advice
Make sure to keep repeating loudly. You won't want any commies to miss out on the message.
ears ringing in happiness.
Nice.
Also nice that there are no serials in your pic, smart.
If anyone could recommend a good sling and light, let me know. Thanks in advance.
Blue Force Gear Vickers sling.
Streamlight HL-X for a budget light. Modlite PLV-H2, Cloud Defense Rein, or Surefire 300 series for premium lights.
I went with https://ferroconcepts.com/ for my slings during their black friday sale. I would have had trouble choosing between them and Vicker's if they had black multicam in stock, but they didn't at that time.
contact
https://rangerproofswag.com/
They know stuff.
Understand that whatever you put on your rifle is a life saving device. Buy the best that you can budget for, not what you can get right now.
The Streamlight HL-X is fine, but there are better options out there.
LOL.. yeah some optics and accessories are really pricey.
No grenade launcher or flame thrower. FAIL!
JUST KIDDING! Sweet gun!
Get that brake off and put a flash hider on.
Get a sling, 2x 20 round mags, 500rnds of ammo and take them to an Appleseed course.
Personally I like starting people with a basic Mil spec AR15 before going for something this hi speed, but if it gets you in the door, great.
Is there an advantage to 20 round over 30 round mags? Size/maneuverability?
Unless you're extremely tall, 30 rounders will contact the ground when firing from a comfortable prone position. Appleseed teaches sling supported prone, seated and standing positions, 10-round phases with a mag change in the middle, so you want 20s or even 10s for the prone portion. You only need 2.
Makes sense. Personally, I only have 10 rounders because I live in a commie state
Brakes are good, better than flash hiders.
WHAT?
There is no point on a full-sized carbine AR. 5.56 is light enough recoil that you should not need a break. Now if you have a short barrel, you might want to consider
If you are only shooting out to 100 yards, I hope you live in a city high rise. If shit ever hits the fan and you aren't in a deep urban environment, 100 yards is practically knife fighting. Get comfortable shooting to 300 yards at a minimum.
Terrible job. The biggest problem is that it’s not an AK
Ha ha. Yeah, I'm not really a fan of AK's
Big yikes.
I drop the mag, cycle it a few times, look into the chamber.... and I still point it at the ground and pull the trigger before I can accept it's actually clear. Good on you for learning and not saying "AD's are a fact of life"
No such thing as an accidental discharge, only negligent discharge.
At least you learned. Some fools out there just can't
1 upgrade you might really enjoy, a new trigger, watch the video in the middle of their page, and let me know what you think, I love mine.
https://www.rarebreedtriggers.com/
The FRT-E3 is dropping soon.
For a standard trigger, Geissele SSA-E is top notch.
Lol, thats quite the trigger
you shot only one at a time, but as fast as your finger moves, so does the trigger, it has a very short pull design, and it's a blast, forgive the pun
That website is garbage. I am a fully literate human. If you can't explain your product without making me watch a ten minute video, I'm out.
Too bad. It’s one of the best triggers on the market. It really pisses the ATF off
Best thing to make Swiss cheese and very easy for a drop in, but expensive, do you know how many rounds it can go through, I had to stop playing with it like they show on the video, I just shoot 1 round at a time
Holy shit. That looks like a lot of fun. Thanks for posting this.
east to install to take the old trigger out and save it drop the new one in and bang bang bang
Your patriotism score just went up quite a bit, fren.
Super jelly!
It’s a great AR. I got my saint edge about 2 years ago.
Sweet, I like your reddot. I've got the same one on a pistol I just built. Quality, affordable, and has the lift to wake feature.
Thats a nice looking gun.
I'm probably also going to lose all of my guns in a boating accident next week. ;-)
I know man I brought them because you never know, wouldn't want some pirates grabbing all the girls on the boat to sell into white slavery. But turns out it's pretty easy to lose them on rough seas. Oh well.
M1A is a good, solid choice and in my opinion far more useful than an AR15. The entry price is brutal, sure, but that rifle fucks.
I like my M14. Angry full auto, but you can get it on a man size target at home defense ranges.
Why have a front iron if you got no rear iron? Can you slide the romeo forward to the edge of your receiver, move the magnifier up and fit one?
You’ve done well if that’s all I can bitch about. I am a diva about these things.
Consider an ergogrip. There are several different ones, and once I started down that road I can’t go back. Cheap enough too.
Why can't you shoot with both eyes open. It's only 3x or so. I keep both eyes open most of the time no matter the mag, even 25x
You have very little situational awareness with that compared to when both are no magnification.
I disagree
This. I ditched my mag. Puts needless weight on the gun.
Your goal should be man sized target at 300 yards or less, which you should not need magnification for.
If you pull the trigger and it fires a round then it serves it's intended purpose.
Nice try FBI. We don't own guns here. We hate them. They scare us. Just ask anyone. Now go elsewhere.
Dang IT. My cover is blown.
Sweet. Perfect Commie killer.....on paper targets that is.
I've never been a magnifier fan. Either go shorter or go longer range - this middle of the road stuff just adds weight to a weapon that now doesn't do either very spectacularly.
Yeah it does have it drawbacks for sure. I really want to get a LPOV also. Once with really good eye relief. The one I was using on a buddies AR I was having a hell of time with eye relief, at the point it was really hard to use.
as long as you have tackle you done good......
Nice piece
Maybe change that Barrett style break for a flash hider to throw sound forward instead of back at you and bystanders, you'll get it when there is no time for earpro. My 2¢
I love my Saint Victor. The muzzle brake makes it really easy to shoot. Still need to get some optics for it.
Yeah my buddy has the saint victor. His wife got if for him because his name is Victor. I did not get to shoot it because he did not have any 300 last time we went to the range.
Looks good to me. As others have stated, a flashlight w/ M-LOK attachment and maybe a single point QD sling are eventually in order.
Gotta love the AR platform - it’s like Legos for grownups!
Get an adjustable two point sling asap.
Nice
All of that looks good.
I recently watched a video on upgrading one's AR and the person doing it said that that Bravo Company buttstock you have there is one of his all-time favorites. I normally go for Fab Defense stuff, etc., but it piqued my interest. I'll get one of those eventually to check it out. Looks very good.
Any AR-15 is better than no AR-15.
Rifle goes boom.
Black. It goes with everything.
Nice, you've got long range defense covered as long as you have ammo. I recommend a pump shotgun for invasion defense and a 9mm for what A and B don't cover
Its beautiful!! Are you naming it? Or pronouns he/she. Are we allowed to do that still? Haha
Love my saint. Springfield makes a great rifle.
Get yourself some Fix It Sticks to throw in your bag for tweaking and a small Otis kit for cleaning.
Well done 👍🏻
Incidentally, if you watch the Kyle Rittenhouse shooting video, that is absolutely perfect use of an AR, extremely skillful handling of the rifle.
He fixes a malfunction in a fraction of a second, and that single action saved his life when that soy boy went to shoot him
Is that an acog to a red dot sight?
Came here to ask this. My mobile device can't zoom in enough to see what he's got
I'm so jelly. Us Canucks can only get the bargain bin version.
Nice!
That’s a good option for an out of the box weapon. Don’t listen to the fanatics. Training is like riding a bike you will pick it up fast and training from a 22 is practically as good as real training. Shoot what’s affordable and stockpile whaat you need.
Nice job.
As long as the length is comfortable and you know how to use, all that matters.
I don’t like new short civilian versions, it sucks when you are tall.
Yeah I can see how an SBR or pistol version would be weird if your a big guy. It would be awkward, probably feel like a toy.
Das HOT
It looks like it could shred commies nicely
Nice I’m getting my first too…. Which one did you get? PS just got my first 9MM. Buliding my arsenal!!!!!
They can be hard to find. I got mine here but looks like they are out of stock again. https://www.hinterlandoutfitters.com/springfield-saint-edge-rifle-ste916556b-223556-p-78110.html
Sweet I got the Springfield 9MM
Arsenal life.
I don't know what happened but they have been putting out some epic pieces lately. I grabbed an XD-m on a whim and it's now my carry.
Is there anything in the picture? It looks like a ghost to me
That’s the pic he took when he bought it. He lost it the other day in a boating accident.
It'll put holes in commies well done!
I have one too, its in the shop. My girlfriend from Canada is picking it up for me soooooo.
It goes Pew, so it's good...
