In the US southeast it was common practice used to skirt both liquor laws and federally mandated desegregation in the 1960s. Looks like the Feds are bringing back the "good old days"!
This is how the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) was created. A group of friends in New York City wanted to be able to go out and have a few drinks on Sundays, so they formed a club called The Jolly Corks, which eventually became the Elks.
I used to be an Elk. Some lodges had very nice ambience and decor while others like the one in my town are one step from being condemned. One lodge was literally a table with a cooler of beer. I find that pretty sad. If you study their history if you wanted to be a somebody in your community you joined the Elks. Now it is a shell of it's former glory.
Yeah, it really depends on the area and the lodge. The one in my town is very nice and we have an pretty active membership, with about 800 members total. Other lodges in nearby towns are often in pretty sad shape or have shut down completely. There was a lodge up the coast that had a great bar but they weren't holding meetings because they had no officers. The Grand Lodge finally stepped in and gave them the choice of either getting people to volunteer to be officers or be shut down. They got no volunteers so the Grand Lodge shut them down.
The cost is...how much does that stuff go for anyway? I accidentally paid $100 for some horse paste on Amazon and they sent me 6 tubes of the stuff, which I guess is pretty good.
I had something nasty and I ordered it out of desperation. I tested positive for the rona.
I can't prove the horse paste helped, but I was sick as a dog all december, and the week I started taking the paste is the week I started getting better. By the end of that week, I felt just fine.
This was a confusing order for me. I paid $100 for a 3-pack, and they sent me a 6-pack in the mail. That's what I mean by "accidentally", haha. It's either this or get the 1-pack.
This is how my gym and barber in LA have gotten around the tyranny. The gym is a 'private invite only membership organization', and also a 'film set', so no masks required. They've been harassed constantly by LADPH but don't give up.
Honestly, I've been thinking America needs to do this for a long time now. It's really what America should have done after Jim Crow laws were struck down. btw, it's not that I'm in favor of Jim Crow laws at all. I do think government facilities and government services have to be equally open to everyone but it was always a mistake to tell private business that were open to the public that they had to act as if they were government facilities and be open to everyone and everything.
If all private businesses were not open to the public but rather were all memberships, then right wingers, Christians etc could build a much more fitting and appropriate client base. I'm not saying this on the basis of color but rather because things that are open to the public are often abused and destroyed by the public. In a sense, this is what Costco, Sam's Club are, as well as that weird club that sells flooring/furniture/drapes etc. They are clubs that keep out a lot of riff raff and problems by forcing an extra step.
the tragedy of the commons is overrated. Fearmongering based on that theory is basically neo marxist excuse for government to take over everything "for our own good" of course.
The conclusion, especially as conveyed by Wikipedia, is wrong. The underlying problem is well spotted, though. It's something we've all witnessed, open resources get abused if there's no upfront cost to those who would abuse it. Or, are you eager to move to San Francisco?
Privatization is better.. but government is often too entrapped by the arrangement to effectively prevent abuse by the private entity, which almost always happens in the long run.
Maybe a time limited lease arrangement, privatize, but keep private entities from becoming too entrenched and powerful.
Open resources aren't abused if they aren't readily accessible to the general public. btw, I hate the term "open resources" because it's so lefty. the reality is very few things that take work to use get abused. What's abused is things open to the public were a service is provided, such as the neighborhood community pools. In the 1960's, almost every neighborhood in America had a community pool but that started disappearing in the 1980's because hoodlums and crack house kids started abusing them. Ghetto lottery players kept suing parks for their own neglect of their own kids. the Underclass wanted the part time lifeguards to play social justice referee between various groups of violent brats. Slowly but surely, parks decided there should be no more public pools. It just wasn't worth the underclass bitching about every little thing to try to make their lives meaningful. Now, they are mostly found in small white towns where the people have enough common decency and social mores to actually realize, the public good of having a pool means taking care of the pool, obeying the rules, realizing the lifeguard is just some teenage kid and that most of it's upkeep is dependent on the user acting like a decent human being.
We can't have free, readily accessible public goods when they're abused by the worthless shit class, and frankly, it's now professionals that act like this too. The liberal white lefty woman is he worst person to provide a service to because she's the biggest cry baby and the first person to complain if things are 100% to her own liking. It used to be only the ghetto mama that would throw a fit or start lobbing totally fabricated complaints but now it's the white lefty professional woman who does it too. No one wants to provide the service or do the upkeep to make a mob of Karens happy. It's not worth it. I'll give an example. A relative of mine was a county commissioner after spending decades in the Minnesota house of representatives. As county commissioner, he got a rural road paved where a few housing developments were being built. yep, it's pretty hard to have a solid good development without paved roads but the developer couldn't do it, the county had to do it. So he did. Well, that means for a few days, the residents would have to park their cars in a makeshift dirt parking lot outside the development and do some walking. Yet, instead of being happy about getting paved roads, he got death threats from two women who were inconvenienced by the paving of the roads. Death threats, for having the temerity to pave the roads in a neighborhood...Something that made their housing value go up by 20% and suddenly made their community more valuable and more attractive to those who might want to put a gas station nearby or convenience store or a fast food restaurant, even makes their vehicles longer lasting for not having to go over muds and stone at least twice daily and those stupid mofos gave death threats for being inconvenienced.... They are the reason why we can't have nice things.
Too bad in Chicago most restaurants would rather be virtue signaling cucks than do something like this. Then they have the nerve to cry about how they're struggling to get by. Some places that used to be my favorites, I refuse to ever visit again even if this insanity stops.
In Colorado, many strip clubs don't sell booze. But they stay open until 4am (instead of 2am) and they allow you to bring your own booze. The good old days.
how about PTs off Hamden with the Broncos DT (R.I.P) he was a really cool fella, Talib, TJ Ward.. and their women throwing money on the floor like leaves. Me and my homie hung out with them a few nights. Holler if you see me DE hehe.. PERIOD
Market finds a way! In our county they banded "single use" plastic straws, so all the restraunts started passing out "reusable" plastic straws! Libs are so dumb, #ClownWorld
its like saying S.F. is winning by having a poop department....... they still have an issue and the fix is a waste of time and resources when the real fix isn't thought of b/c its right winged.
There are many places/clubs that charge membership fees and give you products for free. Wink wink nudge nudge. A famous one being the Dallas buyers club, obviously. A more recent and topical one being the gym that became a republican headquarters so they could stay open. Get a republican party membership, gym equipment just happens to be there too.
I really would love to return to France. Even if just for one week to visit. I believe the only way would be arrive by boat and sneak ashore, if you are unvaccinated
Ok, so this is freakin genius on so many levels. They now have everyone's email address for one-to-one marketing. This is a win-win-win for capitalism. Get rekt, libs.
We had a restaurant in my small town here in Oregon that did this to stay open during the lockdowns. They became a private club and charged customers a small "membership fee".
I suggested this in the states last year. Just pay a yearly fee to be a member and you can do most everything if you spot is zoned for a club or something. Maybe even some residential. Maybe a more knowledgeable pede can help.
france has a great history of resistance-despite the vichy jokes/references. seems to be putting other euro countries to shame at moment but am not there to know for sure. also helped us big time during rev war
Lmfao this is also how the Stonewall riot started. Gay bars were becoming private clubs so you could, I dunno, be gay at a gay bar when it was illegal.
Did I mention this is how the Stonewall riot started? A cop beat a lesbian and slammed her head in the door for the crime of... being gay in public. Then the rest of the gays tore the city up and it became a no go zone where the cops were afraid to go.
Why fake it? Who wants COVID Karens in their restaurant or nightclub? Even charge them a fee yearly to remain a member. You could say that would be overly expensive with multiple restaurants, but you could make it a large membership thing covering many restaurants and venues and such
Incoming swat teams to shut down these "dangerous" villians in 3, 2, 1.... They can't seem to do anything to fix the violent crime and clean up their filthy shithole city, but they'll shut this down instantly.
This is also done in the US to get around liquor laws in dry counties, nicely played you filthy French!
reminds me of my trips to Utah, getting a sponsor to drink at bars.
I turned 21 in Utah and remember when going to restaurants like the Bayou they charged $5 for a membership fee to order alcohol.
Just before that, they murdered the Fancher party and blamed it on Indians.
What the fuck? How you replied about the Mountain Meadow Massacre to a post about circumventing liquor laws blows my mind.
Here’s my reply to you using your same frame of conversation logic: “Thats right, and they chose a beehive as one of their state symbols!”
The problem was that if they warned the troops, the Germans would know that the encryption had been broken.
What the fuck kind of thread have I stumbled upon
Welcome. First day on the .wins?
They’re the same picture.
Ah so I am Playing Heart of Iron IV!
Indeed. All your base are belong to us.
Magic underwear, multiple wives and the missing gold tablets.
You're making sound really good.
Ever see the film, SLC Punk?
A long time ago but yeah it was a good film.
Lifetime membership for a few bucks.
bars that allow smoking too in tyrannical states
I still have a membership to TGI Friday's private club... cost me 1 dollar for a lifetime, and came with a free beer. so... yea.
Was this way in Texas in many counties.
Not really a France thing, this has been done in the US to get away with Sunday liquor sales for decades.
In the US southeast it was common practice used to skirt both liquor laws and federally mandated desegregation in the 1960s. Looks like the Feds are bringing back the "good old days"!
They're definitely a bunch of deliverance style good ole boys in the fbi.
Yup, and after hours sales. There are “private clubs” around here that serve liquor 24 hours a day.
This is how the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) was created. A group of friends in New York City wanted to be able to go out and have a few drinks on Sundays, so they formed a club called The Jolly Corks, which eventually became the Elks.

You had me at a table with a cooler of beer.

Some pretty cool lodges still around
✋🏻🧔🏻♂️🤚🏻
This is not the first time its been used as a work around of Fauci. That was how the Dallas Buyers Club for HIV meds worked.
There was a "fee" to join that was miraculously close to what the meds cost... and the meds were "free"
genius.
What the f, why arent we doing that for Ivermectin... it would be genius
The cost is...how much does that stuff go for anyway? I accidentally paid $100 for some horse paste on Amazon and they sent me 6 tubes of the stuff, which I guess is pretty good.
Sounds like you accidentally got rid of your cold.
I had something nasty and I ordered it out of desperation. I tested positive for the rona.
I can't prove the horse paste helped, but I was sick as a dog all december, and the week I started taking the paste is the week I started getting better. By the end of that week, I felt just fine.
Could you PM me what your ordered?
Just this stuff. But if you can get a hold of human ivermectin, that would probably be better, haha.
https://www.amazon.com/Durvet-Ivermectin-Paste-Equine-Dewormer/dp/B01LXKF2VW/
This was a confusing order for me. I paid $100 for a 3-pack, and they sent me a 6-pack in the mail. That's what I mean by "accidentally", haha. It's either this or get the 1-pack.
Youll never have a cold again!
This is how my gym and barber in LA have gotten around the tyranny. The gym is a 'private invite only membership organization', and also a 'film set', so no masks required. They've been harassed constantly by LADPH but don't give up.
This is also how you get around prostitution, just have a camera somewhere and say you're filming a porn movie...
NOW you tell me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Our gym did this too.
No masks, no lockdown, police station across the street and they gave zero fucks.
My gym has LAPD working out there lol

It's a modern day "The Tragedy of the Commons."
the tragedy of the commons is overrated. Fearmongering based on that theory is basically neo marxist excuse for government to take over everything "for our own good" of course.

YO....this is the way, all the way.
Too bad in Chicago most restaurants would rather be virtue signaling cucks than do something like this. Then they have the nerve to cry about how they're struggling to get by. Some places that used to be my favorites, I refuse to ever visit again even if this insanity stops.
Chicago is Obama's baby.
Shitcongo. FTFY
bettelgeuse bettelgeuse betel...
no argument there. but seems Chicago turned into Compton around the time Dumbama came around the "social project" scene.
fucking Cabrini Green, .. I'm not scared.. Candyman.. Candyman.. no fuck that.
Yep Cabrini green, drive through Chicago while it was still standing. It went on forever! I couldn’t believe how big it was. It was like Moscow…
yeah cabrini is central ... nothing compared to south chicago huh? southside is like syria during their civil war. I wonder why?
IIRC, Virginia used to do this many decades ago for strip clubs, "or that's what I heard!"
In Colorado, many strip clubs don't sell booze. But they stay open until 4am (instead of 2am) and they allow you to bring your own booze. The good old days.
PT's Colorado Springs 1983 yea I remember
how about PTs off Hamden with the Broncos DT (R.I.P) he was a really cool fella, Talib, TJ Ward.. and their women throwing money on the floor like leaves. Me and my homie hung out with them a few nights. Holler if you see me DE hehe.. PERIOD
😉🤫
That's some weird looking titties.
Market finds a way! In our county they banded "single use" plastic straws, so all the restraunts started passing out "reusable" plastic straws! Libs are so dumb, #ClownWorld
At least they understand people don’t want to be subjected to having their documents checked to eat a burger.
Our society has ZERO need for restaurants, they need the public.
speakeasy
Even better if the club doesn't accept vaxxed
This isn't "winning"
its like saying S.F. is winning by having a poop department....... they still have an issue and the fix is a waste of time and resources when the real fix isn't thought of b/c its right winged.
Stopping a losing streak can be an important first step in winning.
Right. It’s like blocking a punch. That’s not winning. Winning is punching back!
It's not a new approach. The same was done for smoking.
Its a start, but would be nice if the French could channel their roots and bring back the tradition of separating certain bodies from their heads.
And a bar tried that here and was fined thousands and ended up shutting down.
They probably would have won in the end.
Tyranny by overwhelming litigation.
Where’s “here”?
Fuck off fed
Yeah. Knew you were making up a bullshit story. Better search the internet now to find an article & say it’s your hometown.
Dumbass.
This is how bars in some states get around no smoking laws
Restaurants in France are now adopting American strip club tactics.
if i ever go to france to eat i wanna see some titties then!
Moulin Rouge is a dinner club with naked ladies. You’re welcome!
thx! now where to get my vax asap?!
It's big-brain time.
Capitalism, uh, finds a way.
Somewhere in Commiefornia there is a Circle-K that is going to become a $1000-an-item Private Club.
They did something very similar for bars in the north east who wanted to avoid the smoking bans
There are many places/clubs that charge membership fees and give you products for free. Wink wink nudge nudge. A famous one being the Dallas buyers club, obviously. The French are the Masters of protest.
Businesses would be better suited pooling their money to hire mercenaries to assassinate the politicians they have to deal with.
Kinda like The Magnificent Seven.
Salt Lake City Utah has been doing that for yrs
The stateroom there is requiring vax for all guests and artists playing there
Love it.
They'll just "temporarily" change the law.
And the law will be changed in a minute
Lmfao this is also how the Stonewall riot started. Gay bars were becoming private clubs so you could, I dunno, be gay at a gay bar when it was illegal.

They will close that loophole real quick
How does that work? That's fucking genius!
that’s what restaurants did in the 60’s following desegregation laws
Can a 501c organization be private?
Wish I could upvote this more than once.
Why fake it? Who wants COVID Karens in their restaurant or nightclub? Even charge them a fee yearly to remain a member. You could say that would be overly expensive with multiple restaurants, but you could make it a large membership thing covering many restaurants and venues and such
The real way to resist is to get out there to protest and enforce the real rules.
Always were, really
Incoming swat teams to shut down these "dangerous" villians in 3, 2, 1.... They can't seem to do anything to fix the violent crime and clean up their filthy shithole city, but they'll shut this down instantly.
People living normal lives???? Can't have that.
That’s what they do in Utah w/ bars
Nice.
They have an 80% vaccination rate, press X to doubt this is commonplace.
and the USA really has 207 million people who are "fully vaccinated". Press X to believe "vaccination" percentages.
Faggot Bugger Incest club ?
LOL They also did this to get around laws preventing restaurants from serving alcohol in the south.
That moment when the cops BTFO.
