Good. Let there be blood on the streets. People need to HATE this government, and I know “hate” means disagreeing nowadays but really vehemently hate in the truest sense of the word. Not just Joe Biden

I may be mistaken but I'm pretty sure more often than not what happens in these cases is once the sheep notice the empty shelves they will just beg the government for free food and comply harder

15
Jackhererer 15 points ago +15 / -0

That's when it gets very ugly. In order to get their "food" they will be told to do unspeakable things which they will gladly comply.

So you like the supply chain issues? Because in communism, it's all supply chain issues all the time.

10
Forbidden_outcast 10 points ago +10 / -0

As long as you agree with the party. If you don’t, then you die. It’s a pretty simple concept that has repeated itself over and over and over again, for the last couple hundred years.

6
Dictator_Bob 6 points ago +6 / -0

Hundred? Liberty is a new political ideology. It is only a few centuries old. The concept is not. It is as old as tyranny existed - people knew the difference. Forms of monarchism which is what all these European ideologies sprouted from are at least 5,000 years old. Republican government with federated democratic processes, especially as refined as ours, are recent on the world stage.

There are some who try to say our Constitution is an anachronism. Then they promote ideas used to enslave populations as far back as the books go.

2
Forbidden_outcast 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m not disagreeing with that at all. But communism, as it was first imagined and inspired (in its current form) by Hegel, Kant, Feuerbach, Engels, Marx, and Darwin. That’s a couple centuries old.

Sure, it’s been around forever, unspoken….. but it was only first laid out, in print, in the last couple centuries, for everyone to see what the plan was.

8
Dictator_Bob 8 points ago +8 / -0

Communist revolutions/dictatorships inevitably transform into twisted monarchies. The rhetoric of course spins this in any direction but that. Yet I can look at Stalin, Xi, and Un - they're just monarchs with sophisticated command economies.

I hate to give them more than that at all. For me, the beauty of being a Constitutionalist is the ability to tell tyrants to go fuck themselves. I don't care what they have to say about their enslavement efforts. They should all hang.

You're going to experience soy sortages

15
Eatinglue 15 points ago +15 / -0

Canada doesn’t produce much soy. Soybeans like being close to the equator. Source: I’m a soybean farmer. Don’t eat it much though. Also, broccoli has more estrogen than soybeans.

7
julianReyes 7 points ago +10 / -3

The real issue with consuming unfermented soy is that it hinders vitamin and mineral absorption with its lectin content. That's bad no matter how you put it.

I do think the U.S. needs to expand the soy market and production so we're less reliant on others in global trade (COUGH COUGH ESPECIALLY NOW). But stuff like edamame, not just putting soy lecithin into everything.

6
Eatinglue 6 points ago +6 / -0

Also I would say it’s uncooked soy that is the problem. As well as every other bean. Heat destroys enzymes that make digestion issues. Raw beans are a big problem to humans. And pigs, for that matter.

4
Weloveflyovercountry 4 points ago +4 / -0

does soy lecithin have the estrogen type chemicals too?

4
10SNE1 4 points ago +4 / -0

Lecithen is a handy molecule that absorbs directly into skin/membranes. It's called a carrier cause when mixed into another substance provides greater bioavailability. Eg. It helps get the attached molecules through your stomach lining. There are many flavors of lecithen. Mostly soy and corn because we consume a lot of it. It's in a huge amount of usually undigestible foods.

2
julianReyes 2 points ago +3 / -1

Are you talking about phytoestrogens?

No, from a strictly chemical stance (SL's a phospholipid), but it still contributes to estrogenicity in high doses.

Part of my criticism is that soy cultivated in the Western hemisphere is heavily GMO whereas it's the opposite in the Eastern.

2
Jimboslice73 2 points ago +2 / -0

hinders vitamin and mineral absorption with its lectin content.>

What do you do then?

1
julianReyes 1 point ago +2 / -1

Ferment it? Raise it naturally instead of genetically modifying it and processing it?

Eat liver from animals?

Not much can be done about its antinutrient effects otherwise.

5
10SNE1 5 points ago +5 / -0

I know a few farmers and farm managers in at least 3 states. None of them eat thier business crops. None at least intentionally. All gmo seed and they all spray poisons like there is no tomorrow. No longer do they consider themselves farmers but rather real estate developers. They're selling out to foreigners all over the country and moving to red states.

4
Eatinglue 4 points ago +6 / -2

I’m not gonna rip on you, you’re a fellow patriot. How do you propose controlling weeds? GMO technology is the greatest human development in the past 50 years. We couldn’t feed our current population. My yields would probably be half of what they are. And prior to GMOs, we were spraying way more chemicals to kill weeds. What is different about a GMO than selecting for desirable genetics? It takes less time than what Gregor Mendel did with peas.

2
10SNE1 2 points ago +2 / -0

You are a gift from God to still be farming. Thank you. All the farmers I know are the hardest working and amongst the smartest people I've ever met. Commercial crops, gmo mono culture indeed produces greater yields over traditional methods. No argument there. But the quality isn't the same and the systemic pesticides, fungicides and herbicides are poisoning everyone and everything. Europe does a far better job. .

4
23zulu 4 points ago +4 / -0

I’m from the south and staying out of the soybeans fields was a very big deal growing up.

I was on a go-cart once, and the throttle broke at wide-open- aiming at one of the soybean fields.

Deep in the first 3rd of one, I had to climb out of the seat and the crawl to the front- to do whatever it was I had to do to stop it, while it was wide open.

(I don’t even remember what it was, but I instinctively knew what to do and did it.)

I was just a kid. Maybe 10 or 11 or 12. Tore a line so long through that field.

I was more worried about the field than the go cart. But I didn’t even get in trouble, probably bc I wasn’t dead. I was too young to know what had really happened. (And I’m a ladypede!)

I've tried to hedge us on the perishables we can freeze (veg, meats, breads), a bulk of dry goods (rice, beans, flour, sugar, powdered milk, etc), then we have a bunch of pets that we've got about a months supply for.

The farm animals are another story. If the power goes out and the generator takes a shit, were fxbrd.

21
unicornpoop 21 points ago +21 / -0

Why the fuck are we buying dairy from canada when we have perfectly good dairy farms here. Why. Close all borders and become self sufficient. But of course we won't. The US will screech about prices until our governments do us a "favor" and relax the mandates.

9
PaineThomas 9 points ago +9 / -0

It's not the dairy itsself, but everything involved in the processing. It's the packaging. The ink, the cardboard, and the glue. It's the emulsifiers and pasteurization machine parts.

2
covok48 2 points ago +2 / -0

We don’t bag our milk.

2
PaineThomas 2 points ago +2 / -0

I never said we did. But everything has to be made by somebody. Plastics for the milk jugs, glue for the school milk cartons, and and the cartons themselves. You also have the crates to hold the half gallons and gallons and pints of milk. You have the ice cream containers, the sour cream containers, the lubricants for the machines that keep things cool and manufacture the products, etc.

People think milk just happens and it becomes all these other products. It doesn't. There are dozens of different companies that go into creating one product. Hell, I deliver hazmat to a dairy products manufacturer on occasion and they are having a helluva time getting any supplies right now. They were refusing loads of milk because they had nothing to do with it.

Edited out the company name.
