Houston here.

Driving home from yesterday's poker session, spied a Prius with California tags.

Pulled alongside at a stop light and there she was: a 20- or 30-something driver fully masked.

Good God!

Welcome!! I hope you love it here as much as I do. I'm far north, almost Iowa. If you need help in anyway, let me know. We need all the Pedes in Missouri. You will love our 2nd A freedoms.

Matt_Holladay 27 points ago +28 / -1

I am looking in to moving to the Springfield area. How is it down there.

25
Repentnow 25 points ago +25 / -0

I'm a transplant to the rural Springfield area. My wife is a real estate agent who specializes in helping transplant families settle into Southern Missouri.

Are you looking for rural lifestyle (land) or more suburban? Do you have a remote job, or will you be looking for work when you get here? What field?

Don't the Simpsons live in Springfield?

16
TraitorJoes 16 points ago +16 / -0

Springfield is a former meth capital of the US. Take the advice from u/repentnow

The town's only about 15 mi across. So you can easily have a rural lifestyle and be 30 minutes from anywhere. Just be sure to get a good real estate agent.

6
Matt_Holladay 6 points ago +7 / -1

Yeah not going to move into Springfield just looking at the area. I work in the heavy equipment rental field so would probably be working there but living outside of the city. So just basically asking about the area around the city.

4
NPCTVUSA 4 points ago +4 / -0

Springfield sucks but the area is great. I recommend Ava.

2
bigdaddydata 2 points ago +2 / -0

It used to be solidly conservative but it has grown a lot more liberal in the past decade or so.

1
RoosterRaiser 1 point ago +1 / -0

Beautiful but the crime is raising in Springfield proper. Lots of illegals and other hoodlums because it's a liberal city. If you live outside in a smaller town, you should love it.

Serious question. How do you pronounce Missouri. Is it with an "ee" or an "uh" at the end?

4

"Misery"

PatriotCirca1984 3 points ago +3 / -0

Depends on what part of the state you're in. Rarely will you hear the uh in St Louis or KC. Small towns it's 50/50.

1
RachetQueen2020 1 point ago +1 / -0

EE unless you are a politician pandering to rural Missourah. Live in KS.

1
Jimboslice73 1 point ago +1 / -0

My mother pronounces Cincinnati Cincinnauh & she grew up in south east part of OH. So I would believe it would be "ee". Another word she grew up murdering was creek & would say "crick".

1
RealRedneck 1 point ago +1 / -0

I live next door to SE Ohio in WV along the Ohio River. "Crick" is correct. LOL!

1
TheAwakePatriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

My grandmother kills me, she pronounces Massachusetts like "massa-too-cees" and Hawaii like "ha-why-ya". We constantly try to get her to say them so we can have a good laugh. And there is totally an 'uh' after her Missouri.

37
ObamakilledJoan 37 points ago +37 / -0

Congrats!!!

I just moved back to a small town in Missouri last summer. It’s like living in another country.

28
alfredbester 28 points ago +28 / -0

I've driven all over the country. Missouri is one of the most beautiful spots, with trees, water, regular seasons. It's awesome. Every time I drive through I wonder that more settlers didn't stop there on their way across the country.

6
Pederella 6 points ago +6 / -0

Might be all the local blood wars and raiders during settler times.

4
notCIA 4 points ago +4 / -0

Well, now all we have are rednecks and some meth, but that doesn't take away from the beautiful landscape.

2
TheAwakePatriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

It's gorgeous. I'll be there for vacation with the family in just a few weeks.

2
shakerofsalt 2 points ago +2 / -0

maybe because everyone was headed west for the gold rush? Thank goodness too, we all just want to live our life.

11

I see that up around St. Louis on occasion. I make sure to point and laugh.

2
RachetQueen2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

hey. lets watch that ghetto St. Louis stuff eh? :). I'm in St. Louis, Its not ghetto in my area. Let me explain. Many areas here are great, but you could go 30 min in a direction, (lets say north? or 4 or 5 blocks in the city, and lets just say I wouldn't go walking without my 9mm). I'm a woman, never had to use it, hope I never have to, but I am always aware of my surroundings

1
Treefreak1776 1 point ago +2 / -1

For a metropolitan area KC isn't too bad. There are bad parts but mostly suburban. I used to work in St Louis I quit a very good job because living there was unbearable.

Wouldn’t have a leg to stand on if I wasn’t already here. One kid in the chute and three more on deck. Came out of parental retirement (IVF). Will home school and raise warriors to take the place of scurrying cowards. Not trying to be offensive but you either accept the responsibility of your citizenship or run. Chances are if you run you will run again instead of accept responsibility for your new community. I was born, raised, and still live in CA. I own a house in TX that I can easily run to but have chosen to stay and take my birthplace back. I may fail but will consider myself a bigger failure for not digging my heels in and trying.

Totally agree. We need to reinforce the red states to make sure they never ever go blue.

2
shakerofsalt 2 points ago +2 / -0

damn right especially when you can no longer trust sending your children to the schools. There may come a time that we need to pull all the kids out of government run propaganda camps. And we all know the voting is rigged in California. I would bet my house that Larry Elder won, and my personal opinion is California is more red than red states its just filled with corruption. Its sick whats going on in America

5
Jimboslice73 5 points ago +5 / -0

You have a very valid point. I've lived here in SoCal for 42 years. Moved to Lawndale with parents from Ohio. Then moved to the low desert. after a year in South Bay. The state is beautiful, I'm 2hrs from the beach & the mountains, traffic is OK, crime is so so if you go further east where I am. I absolutely hate the politics in this state the last 30 years. Before then, California was a red state & the area I live in now. I am debating of looking for another state, Arizona or Texas are in the mix. One thing I will be doing is looking into being a head of a voting precinct here in my county & getting involved with like minded MAGA voters in the area.

Commiefornia is a lost cause. Enjoy the sinking ship.

We've got nice weather, but there's no future for this state except collapse.

Anyone who wants to live free shouldn't waste their time here, and bringing up kids here is just crazy. The culture is poison.

2
TheAwakePatriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

It will be easier for everyone to flee commifornia and watch it totally collapse and then swoop in and take over when the state is dead.

1
Resist_and_Bite 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's why secession is Retreat - Rebuild - Reconquer.

1
SmokeyAF 1 point ago +1 / -0

Props, good fight, you all can make it.

8
Matt_Holladay 8 points ago +9 / -1

Some states are a lost cause. Any lefty state with mail in voting won’t be taken back anytime soon (see California recall election). We need to consolidate in red and purple states to fortify them and then it will be a slow trek to pull back the other states.

6
ArriveViolently 6 points ago +6 / -0

The entire nation is a lost cause and nothing short of full CW2 will stop that. I applaud him for getting his family out of the California hellhole though. All I can say is he better go RURAL. Not "20 miles outside of the bigger town rural", I mean way in the middle of nowhere, because the lefties are coming in fast and nothing is going to stop them, regardless of the states voting map.

2
Repentnow 2 points ago +2 / -0

Did you see what happened in Katrina? They were afraid to cross the bridge without big daddy telling them to. 20 minutes outside of Springfield is more rural than you can imagine.

2
ArriveViolently 2 points ago +2 / -0

I live in the Ozarks. I am intimately familiar with Springfield. I see what is happening. I see the blue hair and the fag flags and what the public schools around here have created, as well as the trash immigrating here.

There are no safe areas. Stay as far away from ANY city as is reasonable for your family.

20
BiteMeMarxist 20 points ago +20 / -0

What's really funny, I live up near Kingwood but "work" in the Galleria area several days per week.

As a result, I often hit the HEB in Kingwood and the HEB on San Felipe.

HEB Kingwood? Maybe 20% are masked -- half of blacks who for some reason seem more fearful of Covid. Often I will see an entire black family -- mom, dad, three kids -- all dutifully, securely masked, and I just want to pull them aside and share all I can to redpill them...

HEB San Felipe? 85% masks, and many of them cower noticeably, standing aside as I, the 6'2" 195 ripped patriot, stride by, face with full smile fully exposed.

I find these people simultaneously hilarious and pitiful.

14
Salty_Dad 14 points ago +14 / -0

You can definitely tell the difference once you cross into Montgomery County from Harris County.

I must admit though I saw somebody worrying a shirt that said “Fully Vaccinated because I’m not stupid.” at the grocery store walking around with a mask a face shield and plastic gloves at HEB on 242.

I took my phone out to snap a picture and my teenage daughter grabbed it from me, she told me that was inconsiderate and here I am thinking I was going to have a good post with a bunch of updoots on here.

10
BiteMeMarxist 10 points ago +10 / -0

Mention this to your daughter...

There's nothing inconsiderate about taking that picture all. If anything, the person should welcome the act.

The thing is, if someone takes the trouble to place their political views prominently on their shirt, hat, bumper, yard or whatever, they are announcing they want the world to see them and hear their message.

7
boomerbutnotOKBoomer 7 points ago +7 / -0

I just got my shirt that copies that Trucker's slogan: My freedom does not stop where your fears begin.

3
Willholbert09 3 points ago +3 / -0

that is actually hilarious. I should go to a liberal part of town wearing that shirt, and wearing gas mask and rubber gloves.

I hate living in Houston.

6
BiteMeMarxist 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's love/hate for me and my wife.

She's a foodie, so we love all the restaurants.

Two of my sons live and work here -- so I get to see them often (the others are in Dallas and two in Austin so they're not far either).

There's loads of soccer! (I play 2-3x per week)

There's lots of poker rooms. (That's how I butter our bread.)

We'll be leaving one day soon -- when my knees give out and can no long play soccer -- at which point we'll snare some property and raise/train/ride/hitch horses. That'll be our bait to get our many granddaughters to want to visit...often...

2
ProphetOfKek 2 points ago +2 / -0

Houston is the anus of Texas. Though it definitely had competition from some other areas.

10
JuanTitor 10 points ago +10 / -0

You are in Houston, though. It's like Austin with more crime.

15
KMOB 15 points ago +15 / -0

All major Texas Cities going way of Detroit & LA. This is why EVERYONE in Texas is moving to the "burbs now, asap- while interest rates are low....even if they have to live in a tent. Dems ruin each city - with Soros buying all the DA's and letting the criminals go. Primary the H**LL out of RINO's like Crenshaw, Anthony Gonzalez (San Antone) & Van Taylor (McKinney, Plano)- collecting a check from YOU but voting with these corrupt players. These 3 for sure- need to get the H*ll out!

8
Repentnow 8 points ago +8 / -0

But the property taxes in Houston. Damn. Even Montgomery county. Crazy. Trying to buy into the northern Houston area, but I can't get past the tax being as high as the mortgage.

2
The_kool_mom 2 points ago +3 / -1

Check all surrounding counties. It varies greatly around Austin in various counties- anywhere from 1.6 - 2.2%

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

There are communities around Austin with that rate over 3%.

1
The_kool_mom 1 point ago +2 / -1

Is that in those expensive new home communities? I missed that when we were shopping around.

3
Cyer6 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's usually brand new developments or those that are still under development. The rates stay high until the development is fully completed to pay for that new infrastructure. They're supposed to go down once development is completed. I'm in one of those neighborhoods with over 3% but I love my home, neighbors and the area.

I just look at like a gated community. I pay a premium to live here and it keeps the riffraff out and my neighbor confirmed this. When people first started moving in, they weren't assessed the full value of the land so their property taxes were low for a couple years. Some of these people didn't give a shit about their homes, parked broken down cars everywhere and degraded the neighborhood. When the high property taxes hit, they moved out and good ones moved in. The whole neighborhood got an overnight facelift but I am looking forward to our rates going down. I pay nearly 10K a year for this house which is valued around 350k.

5
KekistanPM 5 points ago +5 / -0

Moving to the edge of the city practically next to farmland doesn't work, either. All the libs and illegals are motivating new construction everywhere. On one street at the edge of my city where the speed limit is 65, there are at least four new apartment complexes and a strip mall under construction. Expecting the speed limit will go down to 45 and traffic to increase at least five-fold.

10
BiteMeMarxist 10 points ago +10 / -0

This is why I conceal/carry -- religiously.

Have had two incidents bearing mention:

  • One de-escalated before I needed to show them I had a gun... I merely adopted a defensive position behind my open truck door and suggested to this young urbanite "you might want to think twice about coming any closer..."

That was in a gas station off of Richmond. I knew it was a shitty neighborhood but I absolutely needed a couple overpriced gallons to get home.

  • The other was at Brock Park disc golf... We stayed a bit too long, dusk had fallen, and four urbanites started circling us, clearly up to no good. I drew and told them to back the fuck off and they did so with alacrity.

Have had other times where the risks were high and I was glad the gun was with me but they didn't materialize into anything worth mentioning.

Then again, I was in Baltimore a month ago -- flew there and you can't carry there... There were about 10 x I wish I had my gun with me... That shithole makes Houston look like Fifth Avenue and 59th (before Covid).

3
try4gain 3 points ago +3 / -0

You are in Houston, though. It's like Austin with more crime.

Ive lived in both and they are very very different.

Bay Area here. Girlfriend and I are both remote employees - no salary change if we move So we're moving to Reno by May. Just waiting for a nice place to pop up to rent and we're gone. Save for a year, make sure we actually like the area and then buy in Reno if we do.

Just by living across that imaginary line were going to make 20,000$ more per year.

I love what CA has to offer in terms of outdoor shit and food- but at this point there's just no real reason to stay here with the politics and cost of everything

9
JuanTitor 9 points ago +9 / -0

Reno is better than California, but it isn't far behind. If I had to move to NV, I'd go Elko myself, but I know that isn't for everyone.

9
POWESHOW 9 points ago +9 / -0

I need a semblance of a city around me. I like going out, I like exploring restaurants, I like frequenting different bars and girlfriend has to have some outdoorsy shit to do. Reno is the best compromise while still being close enough to the bay that I can drive down on a weekend.

I don't own a pair of jeans - I'd get laughed out of Elko.... rightfully so!

4
MAKE 4 points ago +4 / -0

The problem is that EVERYBODY is thinking the same. Reno is a lost cause, bro. I thought of it too..

3
POWESHOW 3 points ago +3 / -0

Worst case scenario:

Reno becomes Berkeley and I still don't have to pay income taxes I'll take that trade off.

Yep. Get a 30yr fixed rate below inflation rate loan on an inflating asset with 0%-15% down. That's wealth building.

3
Verrerogo 3 points ago +3 / -0

Your girlfriend is right.

As for bars and restaurants, what? You may like looking at the other people. You aren't married.

When you finally get bored with that, maybe there is a child in this picture for you and gf.

She is outdoorsy? A vegetable garden with a swing for the kid hanging from the pergola that holds up the grape and bean vines might be good enough for her. She is not getting any younger.

1
POWESHOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

She needs trails and shit. Sierras are where it's at. Kalispell is kind of my ultimate dream, but logistically it doesn't make the most sense right now. Reno is the compromise to hopefully get a 2nd and 3rd home in the next 15 years. Then all bets are off and we might actually end up in Kalispell

Bars = rotating taps. Good friends. I thoroughly enjoy sports bars. I thoroughly enjoy betting on ponies and yelling at the screen while drinking with friends doing it. Maybe pedantic, maybe I'll grow out of it, but for now- that's why I love a city and why Reno is such a great compromise of good outdoors and good city vibe.

I also like the crackheads downtown... I get off on watching that shit and I'm positive I'm in the vast minority in saying that

Elko rocks. Lots of work in the Gold Mines and BLM offices. Casinos and nice shopping areas, and there is a really nice outdoors store, very upscale. Lots of really good Spanish/Portuguese food there. Not sure I could live there a long time, but there are great places to hike, camp and hunt around there. Not very far from civilization- Reno to the West, Las Vegas to the South and Salt Lake City to the East. And more wilderness in between.

This type of thinking will do nothing but give blue states more power. If the answer is to just have red voters flee to redder states then what will happen? Ever hear of the electoral college? We need more red voters taking over blue states, not just being all rats jumping on the same floating plate as more of the ship sinks.

History shows that relocating temporarily is a fine strategy. At their peak, the Byzantine Empire retook Italy, but they first had to let it collapse under the western empire.

Especially those with children, it is cruel to think it is their duty to let their young ones be raised in corruption.

I don't have children, and I don't know when I'll leave. I want to leave now but God has other plans, so for now I'm staying around. I could leave by summer, but it seems I am not supposed to yet, so I'll probably stick around at least another year.

But when I do leave, my new neighbors will be glad to have me.

12
TommyLasordasBallBag 12 points ago +12 / -0

Buddy, what good are we doing here? I've voted against everything this state stands for and it's still speeding left like a freight train. Do I have to stay here until they inevitably take everything from me and tell me to face the wall?

6
POWESHOW 6 points ago +6 / -0

California is lost. Nevada is not. If anything my vote is far more valuable in Nevada than it is in CA at this point.

4

When the pops of red states goes up they get more seats...when the pops of the blues go down theirs get taken away.

0
kakuretatsumi 0 points ago +2 / -2

Like every 10 years. You want to wait that long for the numbers to change? How many millions of patriots are leaving the state only to be replaced by illegals? No matter how you slice it CA / NY are going to be an economic and political drain on every state until things change.

2
NippleSalad 2 points ago +2 / -0

Waiting one decade is far better than my vote being drowned out for the rest of my life.

1
kakuretatsumi 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think things are getting bad enough for the entire US that we can still have hope that in the next few years 38 states will get together and start amending the constitution to make life better for all states. I have hope that with changes to the swing states voting protections going in place the 2022 and 2024 elections WILL NOT BE STOLEN this time.

If CA was the only state that had crazy food prices and inflation I'd be much more inclined to flee. If Dems get their way they will abolish the electoral college and it wont matter what state you live in, they will turn the entire country into a shit hole and it wont matter what state you moved to.

I don't hold a grudge for anyone leaving any state or city to find a better life. However I think its only delaying the inevitable fight. If states start leaving the union, then I'll have no choice but to get on the right side of the dividing line. However so much of CA is red, if war did break out I think the cities would fall so fast the problem would cure itself.

1
Repentnow 1 point ago +1 / -0

At this point, what does the electoral college matter anyway. They are able to steal the election as is. Tenth Amendment & state-level nullification is the path forward. Trump was our last president. Now it's up to the states.

No income tax either...

9
POWESHOW 9 points ago +9 / -0

That's the primary reason I'm fleeing. 9.3% income tax is a fucking bitch in CA....

20,000 extra dollars per year I can spend on stupid shit just by living in Nevada

7
Plsdontfireme 7 points ago +7 / -0

You can buy a new AR-15, Gen 5 glock, and at least 3 boxes of ammo with your new found freedom and those savings!!! ;)

6
NippleSalad 6 points ago +6 / -0

When I flee the state i'm buying a .50 just to say fuck you to commiefornia.

3
NoComment 3 points ago +3 / -0

and that's PER YEAR.

6
Repentnow 6 points ago +6 / -0

Interestingly, I'd rather have an income tax than high property & gas taxes. I can always write down my income taxes via structuring, but I'm stuck with the high property & gas taxes.

6
POWESHOW 6 points ago +6 / -0

Nevada has no income tax and a low property tax (on par with CA property tax which is very low) - Texas has no income tax but a property tax rate about double CA, granted the houses are about 1/2 the price so it evens out.

Nevada though.... that's a win/win/win coming from the Bay Area

5
Montsta 5 points ago +5 / -0

Also Bay Area here. Wife and I have looked at Reno many times. Now looking at buying a second home in Incline Village instead and relocating there as my “permanent” home and keeping my current Bay Area house as my 2nd home. That way I have a Nevada license and address and everything along with the freedoms Nevada enjoys while still maintaining ownership of a house that has gone from $390K to $1.6MM in 10 years.

1
POWESHOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you can afford Incline Village, fuckin' do it. We've thought about Stateline or anywhere on the eastern shore of Tahoe but

  1. expensive as shit and we'd probably be house poor as our first house
  2. schools are allegedly shitty in Tahoe area per realtor. Said something about teachers not staying around long in the Tahoe basin or some shit. Not that anywhere in Nevada has great schools and we'd probably just go private anyways whenever we choose to have kids.

As far as Reno goes - I think we're primarily looking at west of Virginia Street in midtown... I love that neighborhood. Coughlin ranch wasn't horrible but seemed a little bit bland. Montreaux would be alright as well

1
Induceddrag 1 point ago +1 / -0

If you like the outdoors you will like Reno. You can still get 6 day season ski passes pretty cheap as long as you don’t ski at Squaw(lywood) or Alpine Meadows. Can’t hike the Tahoe rim until July, but while you are waiting you can hike the Carson Wilderness on the south side of the Lake. Shakespeare on the lake mid-summer. Reno Air Races, Hot August Nights. Lots of mountain biking, hiking, fly fishing.
The real estate market seems freaky inflated there. I would rent and hope for the bubble to burst. In the last bubble Vegas and Reno were two of the biggest pops.

1
POWESHOW 1 point ago +1 / -0

I grew up in the Sierras and my whole family is on the CA side of the sierras so it's like the best compromise for me. She gets away from the city, she can finally get her house, she can still do all of the outdoorsy shit she wants and I get city, family and can pats take in the hikes and Tahoe and all of that shit as well.

I'm fucking stoked. Especially stoked about that paycheck

I fuck with Tahoe. I fuck with the casino vibe sparingly (as in, when people come visit one every couple of months it gives me an excuse to go), i fuck with the Reno air races, I fuck with hot august nights, and I'm down for the rest of the lakes and trails up there to explore all while being close enough to family.

Gonna be awesome.

wife and i bought a house ~1 hour away from LA to a town where people wear 2A clothing, where some cars have TRUMP bumper stickers, and where the gas stations have "I DID THAT" stickers at the pump. i didn't have to jump ship to Texas (although I did look at the Fort Worth area during our house-hunting quest.)

worst case scenario is we can sell our house in a few years and use the equity to purchase in a red state. that is, if BIDENFLATION hasn't decimated my house's value.

2
Jemmy 2 points ago +2 / -0

More like California decimating your house's value. Value is supply and demand, and who the hell wants to move to California these days?

1
NoComment 1 point ago +1 / -0

last i checked, my home value has already increased, most likely pulled by the established neighborhoods in the surrounding area. although that's the short-term outlook. i'm more interested 3-5 years from now.

1

Houses don't really appreciate long term, they inflate. Their value rises with inflation.

BE CAREFUL to all Relocating Commiefornia People. The CA tax people - franchise tx- will follow you to your new state for at least 5 years. Not sure what you need to do...but Word- on street says they will come after those who have the nerve to flee. Time to prepare in advance. Do not be surprised to get notices in 2 -3 years asking you for "back" taxes for CA-even when you have not lived there. Prepare now, look up the law Be careful

9
MrHarryReems 9 points ago +9 / -0

As much as they are trying to do that, I don't think it's legal. I don't know how it can stand up to the laws of interstate commerce at the very least.

10
KMOB 10 points ago +10 / -0

Just letting people know. Happened to frenn- moved out of CA- 2015...Got huge notices in 2018 for "back taxes" based on projected earnings/ occupation. Spent time fightin. Not sayin' its legal...look it up. One of 1000's of articles on former CA residents getting hounded. Be prepared- that is all. https://www.forbes.com/sites/robertwood/2019/10/22/now-california-can-assess-taxes-no-matter-where-you-livereally/?sh=4f5af0d13e7f

I moved out of CA several years ago. You have to have no attachment to CA. That means no property, source of income or things that can still tie you to the state.

6
GainesvilleFlorida 6 points ago +6 / -0

Clearly that’s where his friend went wrong, wanted to maintain some income stream and while paying taxes in the new land.

Honestly sounds like those people are smart enough to make good coin but still are idiots.

2
MrHarryReems 2 points ago +2 / -0

I definitely know those commie arseholes are trying, I just don't think it will stand up to legal scrutiny.

I left that poohole 11 years ago and haven't looked back. Unfortunately, I ended up in the one state that's worse in a lot of respects. I'd love to leave, but we're having a really hard time finding a place that meets our specific criteria.

Low population forested mountain town with an acceptable drive to a grocery store and good internet service that doesn't snow. We're currently living in Volcano, HI for reference. This island was mostly ok until they declared a state of emergency and have not and will never look back. They always vote blue, no matter who, then wonder why things are going to shit.

SmokeyAF 1 point ago +1 / -0

Small slice of heaven (except for the politics).

1
MrHarryReems 1 point ago +1 / -0

That's a fact. The odd thing is, there are a BUNCH of people out here that we refer to as 'Hippertarians'. They are basically off-grid hippies who grow their own food and just want to be left alone to do their own thing. Unfortunately, they also mostly vote blue.

3
SamuelColt 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yeah, and what are they gonna do if you don't pay up? Send California tax enforcement agents into another state?

2

Which coast? We just spent the last two weeks visiting every Florida city on both coast north of Sarasota looking for a place to invest. Previously lived in the PSL area.

2

north of st pete, on the west side of fl

2
Repentnow 2 points ago +2 / -0

That's one of the areas we looked at earlier this month. I like Clear Water - we stayed in an airBnB there. Lots of nice cars in that area. Saw a Cullinan in the wild! There were some areas that looked good for real estate investing. But we weren't the biggest fan of the beaches in that area. Not sand. No surf. But they were quiet & accessible. I could see making a habit of an after dinner walk on the beach. Good luck! Florida is awesome anywhere. You're never more than 60 miles from the beach!

3

I will have enough cash left over from selling my house in ca that I can buy a decent boat and just boat to a beach whenever we want to

3
FightForOurRights 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's absolutely fantastic. The people here in north Texas are the best. Neighbors are good people, I do wish they would come outside a but more though. I've never been to church, not against it, just not sure how to find what might be right for me.

3
Mark4-40 3 points ago +3 / -0

Awesome! I'm in the north of TX myself, and moving here from the increasingly liberal NC was a good decision.

Does your neighborhood do monthly or semiannual meet and greets? Weekend block bbqs are fun. Chili cook-off for our sub is in 2 weeks and it's gonna be legit.

Church is a good way to engage with members of your community who share generally like-minded moral standards of many in this group. That being said, there are many liberal wolves in sheeps clothing in church just as anywhere else in our society. Sadly. But beyond that, Jesus paid our debt to save us from punishment for all the garbage we've done in life, and adopted those who follow Him into His family forever. So church is also going to your Dad's house on the weekend and hanging out with your siblings. :)
