Who still uses google search anyway? I use duckduckgo.
Also of note is that Andrew Torba posted today on Gab that he was looking for devs with a view to creating a Gab Search.
EDIT: a link to Andrew Torba's post - https://gab.com/a/posts/107865670275750003

This is true, unfortunately. Google is still the best at the parts of search which they haven't yet self-immolated. I use Google for technical and other apolitical searches. But if anything touches on politics at all, Google is garbage, it's worse than useless, and I use DuckDuckGo.

Fenianlad 3 points ago +3 / -0

It became worthless when every result is an online store. Try finding content in a product like a review or comparison. Nope. 2000000 pages of shopping results. And years ago you could filter results by discussions. That’s long gone. Guess what Is prominently in its place- Shopping.

Still a Google user here. I just did a search for American Frontline Doctors and the first result was the American Frontline Doctors website.

This is very odd considering the absolute truth of the op.

It could be that google has assembled a dossier on you and allows you to see this result unfiltered, hoping that you won't think google is censoring other's results.

People still use Google?

11
knnbccb 11 points ago +12 / -1

Google cache and reverse image search are how I got my material. Until a rival comes up with something that's comparable, Google shall continue to be used.

21
DaveMastor 21 points ago +22 / -1

DDG provides better results most of the time. Google is just one big ad.

13
RedditSuxAss 13 points ago +13 / -0

I never see ads. uBlock Origin FTW.

27
DaveMastor 27 points ago +27 / -0

You fail to understand. Google is primarily designed to sell you things - even if you're not seeing google ads, their search results are still dramatically tilted towards selling you things, and they make a comission on every single sale. Adblock doesn't affect the search results.

23
jdqw210 23 points ago +23 / -0

I miss the days where I could search google for part numbers or guides or real writings about projects and not get 100 pages of amazon/ebay/retail websites selling me bullshit

-2
RedditSuxAss -2 points ago +4 / -6

Yeah, I agree with that for sure. But as someone else said, if you are looking for nonpolitical stuff, it's still the best unfortunately.

14
DaveMastor 14 points ago +14 / -0

Its increasingly becoming -not- a very good choice for non-political stuff either. I use search engines for a lot of my work, and rotate through them, sometimes automatically doing the same search in multiple engines at the same time before looking at any results. Increasingly I'm not even bothering with Google as it almost never has even equivalent results.

Any difference can be made up with proper usage of search operators. Look them up, they're pretty much the same for any engine.

DDG is terrible, stop shilling for them.

4
DaveMastor 4 points ago +4 / -0

DGG -is- terrible, though I do believe the woke hiring thing was overblown, because it was literally the law in states like California. Unfortunately, they're also the least terrible of all the options. I'm not shilling for them, but if you think Bing or Yahoo is any better, then you're an idiot. Search engines are a necessary tool in the modern era, so your only option is to use the least terrible option.

I wanted to use Brave search, but it doesn't produce good results yet as it's still in beta. Similar to early DDG.

Yandex is a decent alternative, but it's russian based, and you often get non-specific results because their algorithms are calibrated off of the searching patterns, of people living on the other side of the planet.

So yes. DDG is terrible. At the moment, it's still your best option over Google, Bing, Yahoo, and incomplete results of Brave.

6
680-EVIL 6 points ago +6 / -0

Brave is great. It actually adds Google results if Brave's aren't good enough for the time being.

2
DaveMastor 2 points ago +2 / -0

I've been doing my darnedest to use Brave, but its not quite there yet, and frequently need to use other engines to find what I need.

Brave -will- get there... its algorithms just need more training. It's literally brand new.

5
TheScream 5 points ago +5 / -0

Very important. Use Brave Browser ( for the tech weak, that means instead of safari) and use Duckduckgo or ? for search engine.

Brave browser blocks ads. What are ads? Don't know after a couple of years.

Brave browser is magnificent. Don't like their search engine.

praying71 1 point ago +2 / -1

I've done some research about DDG. Unfortunately it stinks too. I wouldn't be surprised if it's just another skin on the old Google engine they've build for a case they lose trust. It will take longer to wait for a good alternative.

2
DaveMastor 2 points ago +2 / -0

Read my other comments for that insight. DDG stinks, but its the least terrible option for most until some rich conservative puts some of that money to use and makes a better search engine.

2
deleted 2 points ago +2 / -0
2
DaveMastor 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yes. The key takeaway is that you should treat sny and all search engines as enemy territory. Don't just absorb the first result. Once you find the information - test it.

You can lead a horse to information, but you can't make it think.

0
Millie1234 0 points ago +1 / -1

I can find America Frontline Doctors on DDG. I can find them on Wikipedia too, wow I didn't know wiki had gone down the pan too.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +1 / -0

I wish that were true. Google search is the best, unfortunately. Also what most people are using so it is a big deal if FLD get removed from results. People won't find them as easily.

3
DaveMastor 3 points ago +3 / -0

It depends on what you search for, but even with non political content, google is not only not the best anymore, but it's getting worse.

Regardless, I would strongly encourage you to use other engines as google will be manipulating your results based on its data profile on you.

2
Block_Helen 2 points ago +2 / -0

I know. You're right. I need to de-google my life. Any thoughts on exporting gmail archive? My entire life since 2006 is in my gmail.

That said, they have all the data on me that they'll ever need already. So maybe it doesn't really matter.

2
Consumerbot381732 2 points ago +2 / -0

Going through this myself. Read that protonmail is likely a honeypot, so I’ll be going with mxroute, personally.

2
DaveMastor 2 points ago +2 / -0

Unfortunately, I dont have advice for you there... other than start using a different email provider with an emphasis on safety and privacy right away... it makes the eventual transition to a new address easier.

I still need to fully depreciate my old gmail account. I want to have my old emails downloaded, but as I dont really use it anymore, it's not something that's high up on my to do list.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +1 / -0

Thanks! Yeah, I need to transition to a new email right away. For important stuff it won't be that hard to transfer over. May I ask if you have any suggestions about email providers? Protonmail?

3
fauxgnaws 3 points ago +3 / -0

Bing has reverse image search, subimage search, and cached. It's funny because they were before Google with basically every feature since 2010-ish and Google's copy has been lazy and half-assed.

It's still big corporate, but at least they're no Google.

1

DDG has a different algorithm. Works well.

The only thing Google does better than others is pornographic search.

2
PiratePatriotParrot 2 points ago +2 / -0

There's just no comparison. The search results for brave/duckduckgo are such shit.

Then anyone involved in SEO or tech is completely stuck using these tools: Google, Google Search, Google Key Words, Google Tag manager., etc. (I'm no expert).

If you're a social media job person you're stuck using tiktok, facebook, twitter as your job.

2
try4gain 2 points ago +2 / -0

Brave search has worked ok for me

Also bing/google results are often very similar

1

If true, this is a crime against humanity and they are withholding vital medical information. The doctors are not doing anything illegal.

Where are the wealthy? This should be taken to court. Our side sucks.

9
NvJohansson 9 points ago +9 / -0

Fuck google

9
_Sully_ 9 points ago +9 / -0

That last statement has never been true. There has never been a state at which medical science didn't regret making such an assumption. Not to mention that they don't exactly shut down shit like Chinese Medicine sites or even things like Chiropractors which some do claim all sorts of absolute horse shit lies. Oh and I guess lets just throw in mainstream medicine too which lies on purpose.

2
oldhankdonald 2 points ago +2 / -0

Saying chiropractic care and a acupuncture is horseshit is another big pharma lie to push opioid addiction and expensive and worthless hospital chain visits for basic back pain. Those same people also claim back pain can’t be fixed, or always requires “physical therapy”.

2
Consumerbot381732 2 points ago +2 / -0

Lots of unnecessary surgeries, too.

CensoredByMarxists 5 points ago +5 / -0

Most searches regardless of engine used aren't finding most content against the narrative Google provides the crawler results used by all of the other search engines including suck suck go. If we don't build an alt tech infrastructure, no truth will be able to be found any more. Musk needs to step up and throw a few billion at this fast or else it's 1984.

Need a massive effort to take conservative and freedom loving sites off grid to preserve historical truth and allow accurate information. Use StarLink to support a private network with proxies in and out of Internet and move all hosting to shard across private data centers and no more commercial cloud. I see the end as clear as day and there is a solution but we better start now or it will be too late.

Meanwhile watch AWS and even Azure take down most of the friendly platforms and truthful web sites over the next few months. 94 percent of all sites, left wing or not, run on commercial cloud.

I have a few kindred spirits working part time with me but no funding. Perhaps if I could get enough to crowd source the effort to show the potential for a true alt tech platform including new mobile devices that can provide apps outside of Apple and Google, we could make progress. DM me if you want to be part of the solution.

5
dahdahdah_dahditdah 5 points ago +5 / -0

Sounds like Google is practicing medicine by saying that these doctors are wrong in their medical recommendations.

If Google happens to be wrong about their medical recommendations here, they should be liable to be sued.

2
ed_shaw 2 points ago +2 / -0

You don't need Google. The sites in that category are aware of the censorship and are thoroughly linked. Here's Dr. McCollough's: early care

2
Indypendent 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm here to tell you that there are plenty of people out there who don't know the difference between a browser and a search engine. I'm serious. I'm in my 50s and can't count the number of times I've learned that friends and relatives have zero idea that there are other options.

And because they have no clue about that, they have no idea how dishonest Google is and how much they censor and keep real news from the people.

2
ed_shaw 2 points ago +2 / -0

You're right about that. Back in the day, when comparative searches were being done and the results reported in popular alt-news zines, I remember thinking to myself, "Well, that's it for Google. They'll never survive this." Whoa...it didn't even phase them. That's when I began to think there was no hope for Americans.

2
thatrightwinger 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is real simple.

Go to duckduckgo.com and do a search. If you don't like the results, add a "!g" before the search term, DDG will reroute your search to Google, *and then you can see Google's results.

Also can try Brave Search, brought you by the same people who make the Brave Browser.

Also there's Startpage which gives Google search results without compromising user privacy.

Leave Google behind. They're part of the problem, and if you're using them regularly, you're part of the problem, too.

Some States they work when entering a restaurant... put aren't necessary after a beverage is served.
