Yeah. Is there a reference or is it just hilarious?

Renfield. From Dracula.

Talon54 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah but Renfield was crazy. He thought flies had souls in the movie. Don't remember how the story went in the book since I read in grammar school.

Even deeper than that I think. I think maybe it's biblical? Or maybe not. Something to do with Satanism, I would guess.

Found this page https://literature.stackexchange.com/questions/18797/meaning-of-the-genealogical-list-in-the-first-chapter-of-pantagruel

which contains:

  • Happe mousche is still recognizable in modern French as meaning “fly-swallower”.

EDIT to add from same page:

“Hapmouche, the first that ever invented the drying of neat's tongues in the chimney”: literally "fly eater"; the first of a series of names from folk tales and invented names (G. Defaux). P. Michel assumes that this and the next two names were made up by Rabelais.

If you think demons are not in your church, it's either because you are diligent and your church is no bigger than a regular family or because you are wrong.

Churches need to have regular meetings about the seven churches of Revelations.

Literally one chapter after Jesus praised Peter for rightly acknowledging Him as Christ and the Son of God, in the next conversation He called Peter "Satan". Not even Judas was referred to in that manner.

If even Jesus's own disciples were susceptible to literally being called Satan, any group of Christians should be just as discerning and vigilant among themselves as well as one another.

4
sordfysh 4 points ago +4 / -0

Amen.

The relationship between church leadership and flock should be that of bilateral vigilance and mercy.

Being liked by your pastor is not the way to Heaven. The way to Heaven is to hold each other to the narrow road and to pick each other up when we inevitably stumble.

Jesus actually tells us that speaking the message of Jesus will break apart some families and churches. But the alternative of a life without Jesus is so much worse than the occasional struggle with forces of evil.

"Satan" is Hebrew for "adversary". He wasn't equating Peter to Lucifer, He was telling Him to get in line and not try to usurp God's will.

But amen, you are very right that we always need to be discerning of God's will and do absolutely everything to cooperate with it. We can rationalize our way into literally any sin so it's important to keep a really good eye on our hearts.

Denomination: Progressive Baptist.

Even the socialist Pope is still standing up for the unborn. Only Catholics and Orthodox seem to be hanging on to their beliefs.

CoyoteTan 6 points ago +6 / -0

Catholic here. I’ve been called radical by this anti-pope. I assume this is similar in some other churches. The corruption enters all human institutions. It most be constantly tended.

2
Talon54 2 points ago +2 / -0

Progressive Baptist? Is that code for satanist? Because that's what he is.

1
PatriotCirca1984 1 point ago +1 / -0

Catholic reporting in - I am disgusted by the post Vatican II reforms of the church, as well as the ongoing pedophilia problem which has not been appropriately addressed. That being said, the Catholic church is ultimately every individiual Catholic, as where we go so does the church. But the Jesuits taking over has certainly caused a lot of problems and if St. Peter were alive he would not recognize this as Christ's church.

You don't have to convince me. I pastored several churches over a 15/12 period and some of the most godly people were in those churches and some of the most evil as well.

His congregation would be empty if he rejected abortion, wouldn't it? Does he feed them fried chicken and malt liquor after church, too?

2

I'm guessing he's all in on all that crap. ABortion, tranny conversions for five year olds, etc.
