Must be nice to live in a real state.

All Pedes are welcome. Really, take up all the homes and rentals you can to help price communists out.

MythArcana 42 points ago +43 / -1

That's a fresh breath of air compared to what Texans are saying. I lived there for over a year going to school in the Orlando area, and it was nice back in 90s. Not sure how it is now, though. The bugs and humidity were difficult to handle, but if I can tote a hand-cannon around and enjoy freedom, it might be worth checking out again.

SirSeizureSalad 46 points ago +46 / -0

Orlando sucks. Live on the gulf coast. Sarasota, ft Myers, Naples, etc.

The only tolerable place in Orlando is winter park, it's all old rich Republicans, besides the hipster annoying Rollins kids. It's basically a yacht and racquet club that also gives degrees. But winter park is real nice, very expensive tho.

18
Holyfvck666 18 points ago +18 / -0

Orlando is trash now. Housing market has basically doubled in cost. Traffic is worse than L.A. now. The DMV is basically Ellis Island. Alphabet people as far as the eye can see.

5
NoCoupForYou 5 points ago +5 / -0

Orlando stinks. Prices are sky high, traffic awful. High Crime. Methhead borderlands from the Gulf, where the methheads are out in force. Tampa is Methheads + Midwestern Leftist Retired Schoolmarms.

7
JKillen 7 points ago +8 / -1

Orlando pede here. Can confirm.

Orlando is full of fags and dindus. Some are based but it’s purple af. Even the surrounding areas like altamonte and winter park. It looks so different from when i grew up.

Now a relatively short ways north of there… ☝🏻 like Mt Dora and Umatilla and the Villages, is MAGA country.

6
NoCoupForYou 6 points ago +6 / -0

True. And Seminole County, once dark red, is getting purple and the Republicans are now of the Country Club Variety. Sad to see.

2
[email protected] 2 points ago +2 / -0

I grew up in Altamonte and Apopka in the 90's. It was great. I hear I wouldn't recognize it now'a days.

2
apathy_meh 2 points ago +2 / -0

Gotta make Crime Hills great again. Or just mediocre.

1
HockeyMom4Trump 1 point ago +1 / -0

The Villages?

Don’t you have to be older to live there?

2
Cyer6 2 points ago +2 / -0

Went to Tampa last year. First time ever in FL and I wasn't impressed. Kinda reminded me of Oakland.

1
NoCoupForYou 1 point ago +1 / -0

Don't judge Florida by Tampa. Took my kid once to the West Coast for a park, was not impressed. Space Coast is great, so is Daytona to Saint Augustine. Lots of good ol' Flo Grown in Central Florida. Panhandle good too but getting overrun by Midwesterners fleeing their own lockdowns.

Orlando used to be based AF, too. And even Palm Beach leaned red.

1
HockeyMom4Trump 1 point ago +1 / -0

Why? What happened to Orlando?

Low income housing for Disney employees or something?

4

Do not mistake that with Winterhaven. Just southish of Lakeland, it is mostly businesses.

3
Wesmacker 3 points ago +4 / -1

Winter Haven not nice? Out of state pede looking

6
Bunny 6 points ago +6 / -0

I live in Bama, but go to the panhandle regularly for work. I love it there, it feels like an extension of AL.. but with a better governor and pretty beaches.

3
TheyWereCones 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yea panhandle is cool. Just moved here a few months ago from tx. Bout 40 mins north of panama City. Has methheads like everywhere now but pretty spread out. Just small towns and dollar generals really haha.

2
XCorneliusX 2 points ago +2 / -0

Winter Haven is okay. Just a lot of industrial areas and so forth and not as many trees. Not sure of the tax base etc. I was there twice this week and it seems safe enough, but a lot of industrial stuff as I noted.

1
MakeFloridaRed 1 point ago +1 / -0

It’s good... far enough away from Orlando and good country loving middle of the state. Plus you get Legoland.

4
Kekintosh2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

Lake Nona and Winter Garden is great

19
RabidZoo 19 points ago +21 / -2

Yeah...a couple of years ago I mentioned moving to Texas or Florida...had some faggot Texans saying "keep your shitty policies there". These motherfuckers have no clue. I'm a vet. I hate commies. I love guns and freedom. So when my kids grow up and move out Florida will be the spot. I have a feeling it'll be great 😃

10
MythArcana 10 points ago +11 / -1

That attitude will turn them blue in five years, mark my word. The minute you drive into the state they are vandalizing your car when they don't like the plates. They are missing out on a lot of conservatives, because Florida and other based states without a Dallas, Austin, Houston or a broken border are much more viable.

6
Nerdrem1 6 points ago +7 / -1

I don't really care how based Texas is, I would never move there. I don't understand how anyone can be happy living and working in that damn heat. Give me Idaho or Montana any day.

6
neurojerk 6 points ago +6 / -0

That's my problem too. I lived in Florida for awhile as well as Louisiana. Those places have a lot going for them, but I just can't live in a swamp. I've spent too long living next to the lake in upper Michigan. I have to have winters. Bad ones at that.

2
Pissed_American 2 points ago +2 / -0

I like mountains and public land to hunt on.

2
covok48 2 points ago +2 / -0

We stay inside with A/C when it’s hot.

1
Cyer6 1 point ago +1 / -0

It is hot as fuck down here in Central TX but I've also lived in the CA Central Valley so I'm used to it. There's always a gulf breeze blowing here which I like. The humidity is what sucks and the heat wouldn't be that bad if it wasn't for that. I also grew up in WY where it gets artic cold and I never liked it. I'll take the heat, bugs, critters and humidity any day over WY tundra.

3
BitesZaDusto 3 points ago +4 / -1

Guaranteed. I have to find the article, but it was people moving INTO Texas that was keeping it red. Will need to see how that turns out after the midterms, especially with the CA exodus. But TX is getting quite a few Ultra MAGA folks added to their number this year (aunt, uncle, cousins, and my bro and his family).

I'm not being cranky, a bitch, nor do I harbor shitty globalist policies in my head. I'm a Patriot who was looking to link up with people who still love their country...not a bunch of faggots who don't like me because I'm from a different state. They didn't even ask me any questions about my views. It was instantaneous assumption. So Texas can have it's illegals. I'll take my Patriotic self to somewhere I'll be appreciated.

1
Cyer6 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm in Central TX and welcome the pedes fleeing their blue shitholes. We need them and there are a lot of us who feel that way.

How is stating facts being sensitive? I'm screening potential locations to move to and I found out one of the two is apparently infested with not only illegals but a bunch of whiny faggots too. Apparently you Texans are the sensitive ones. Texas was supposed to be a manly place but it appears you motherfuckers are on a steady diet of soy and penis.

XCorneliusX 4 points ago +4 / -0

Join the north of I-4 crew. I call it best Florida. Less chance of hurricanes being a bother and rural overall. There are also forests and hills.

3
RabidZoo 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sounds like my type of place. I grew up in a large shithole city...but I live rural now. I couldn't ever live like that again. Give me woods and farms and I'm happy. My work is outside so as long as you guys have plenty of forest I'm good!

1
XCorneliusX 1 point ago +2 / -1

Lacoochee, FL in Pasco county was once the main hub of culling trees in Florida. One does not usually think of trees and forests with Florida, but it is here.

Go on Google maps and lookup Bushnell, FL. Switch to satellite and see the forests all over and more as you go north.

edit: btw, I only note to use Google maps because they are good, despite my other non use of their products

1
IRScansuckmyanus 1 point ago +2 / -1

Are there any beach towns in that area or is it more inland?

1
XCorneliusX 1 point ago +1 / -0

I prefer gulf side, though my best friend and his gf live in Daytona Beach.

North of Homasassa. Avoid Spring Hill, though Hernando County is a fairly quiet county for things. Much depends on if you need to commute.

I would suggest that if you need a major city nearish by, chose one and open your map wider to your max distance on a site like zillow. Get a feel for what is near. Technically, I am an hour from work. Most days that is really 35 minutes because Florida traffic is fast.

The thing is what kind of beach town, as well. Beaches with nature are north of Tampa ala Nature Coast. Jacksonville southward is more the sand and beach atmosphere, but is also more expensive by far. Port Orange is a well to do area just south of Daytona that is pretty nice.

4
FredMartens1 4 points ago +5 / -1

Ex-Navy vet. Hate commies & libtards. Love shooting pistol & rifle, sucks that I gotta either do indoor pistol range or drive an hour to unleash the 5.56 / .308 proper. Am in between Ft Myers and Naples, bought in 2011, moved from Seattle 2015. Thank God. Gettin' a little crowded but still pretty great. Heat and humidity suck in the summer but it drives the pussy snowbird part-timers out...so we actually get our town back for 6-7 months out of the year. With all the libtard plates I'm seeing now, starting to plan my backer upper move in 5 years. Hope FL is still red for ya.

5
DaayTerkErJerbs 5 points ago +5 / -0

FL is going from purple to pink to red. Just got to keep blue cities from rigging their votes an we will be fine

8

Orlando is copyrighted by Black Rock. Good luck buying a house. You will own nothing and be happy.

4
wake_up33 4 points ago +4 / -0

Also lived in Orlando in the 90's. Wouldn't live there today - it has gone downhill for sure. Many other nice areas to move to though. Inland in central Florida (where I am) gets HOT. Try to get nearer to the coast so you can get some of that breeze during the humid months of summer!

2
MythArcana 2 points ago +2 / -0

My school pals and I would pile down to Church Street Station all the time, and it was like a free amusement park with a Hooters, cool shops, tons of food, Terror on Church Street and all kinds of things to do.

I hear it went completely ghetto to the point where you need a Kevlar SWAT outfit just to get near it. Every. Time.

2

Yep. It's true. Went to college in Orlando in the 80's and Church Street was a nice place to go!

9
XCorneliusX 9 points ago +9 / -0

That is a county by county thing. My county has some of the lowest I have ever had. I only paid $600 last year for property tax, when in Hillsboro County (Tampa), this could easily have been thousands for tax.

22
Ventura 22 points ago +22 / -0

Property tax is the worst offender of all taxes as pure theft. Especially if its your only home.

8
XCorneliusX 8 points ago +8 / -0

I would have to agree due to it being the perpetual tax on ones home, even if you own it outright, it can be taken if tax is not paid.

2
KILLARY4PRISON 2 points ago +2 / -0

Fuck that income tax is far far far worse as it requires the government to know every little fucking thing you've done and is unlimited in scope.

5
Scumbag-reddit 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hah my fucking Pinellas property tax was like $3200, the fuck is this shit from one county over.

4
lemonparty 4 points ago +4 / -0

Florida allows special taxing districts, where the developer basically gets the power to put a mill levy on your home for 40 years. When buying into a relatively new place in Florida, watch the fuck out. It's crooked as shit. Usually only found in blue hellholes like CA and CO. Two homes literally next to each other can have drastically different property taxes depending on where developers have drawn the lines for special taxing districts.

2
Liberty4All 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is true.

However, when you're looking at properties you can go to your county tax collector's website and look up the exact millage rate on any property. So, there won't be any surprises.

Florida also has a "save our homes" provision for property taxes that limits the amount property taxes on your primary residence can increase per year, regardless of how much your assessed value increases. So, as long as you don't move or add-on to the house, you won't get smacked with massive property tax increases because the assessor suddenly decides your home is worth a lot more. This also means that if you stay put for a long time, you will eventually have very low property taxes relative to your home's current value.

3
deleted 3 points ago +3 / -0
2
Liberty4All 2 points ago +2 / -0

That is not surprising. Taxing elderly people on a fixed income out of their homes is part of the "you will own nothing and be happy" globalist program.

4
XCorneliusX 4 points ago +4 / -0

I am not in Hillsborough, but north and not Pasco. One of the rural very red counties. Anyway, with the homestead exemption, I paid half so $600.

I think the best option is clearly Trump Desantis 2024.

Although Desantis is not my top pick for VP, he does more than anyone else to help Trump win reelection. He would also be a good backup President for Trump, given Trump’s age (not that I think his age or health is a real issue - but his enemies are absolutely going to pretend it is).

11

13

9

If they can create money from nothing, then taxes are just inflation taxes. Taxes for revenue is obsolete.

7
kt524 7 points ago +7 / -0

Yep, if they can just magically print money frivolously then they have no valid reason to steal ours.

1
KILLARY4PRISON 1 point ago +1 / -0

Nah they still need taxes to extract value to collateralize the loans (aka money printing) the state does on the daily.

7
DaayTerkErJerbs 7 points ago +7 / -0

I like the concept of a sales tax but no income or capital gains. Let people saving money an invest money without having everything stolen. If they buy stuff get your cut then.

14
XCorneliusX 14 points ago +14 / -0

It is mostly help for Florida families with children, though there is years of no tax on home windows, doors, etc that harden a home for hurricanes and other weather and in October there is a month of no State gas tax, which is .18/gallon.

In my case my family is grown so the home and gas parts are a boon for me.

9
Pleb 9 points ago +9 / -0

Florida windows are expensive, gotta be designed to take a 2x4 shot at 50 mph and only crack.

4
XCorneliusX 4 points ago +4 / -0

The home I own has already been outfitted with double pane weather rated windows for most openings. The exception is one bedroom with tiny windows. I suppose a huge hurricane could take out my lanai.

I do live in an area that has not seen any real damage from hurricanes for as long as anyone remembers. My home, built in 1973, has never had any recorded flooding, though I have to pay for FEMA flood insurance. Sucks really as I feel no worry to flood.

4
Pleb 4 points ago +4 / -0

About half my forest fell during Micheal, half a dozen downed trees are still on the perimeter of what I mow. It takes about a week to just burn out 1 rootball manually. rural panhandle a few acres.

Loving Florida, long garden season, you can grow most citrus and fruits.

4
XCorneliusX 4 points ago +4 / -0

One can grow pretty much anything, it is just different seasonal times. I am central FL. Family had a place in Destin before. I work in Tampa, so have a commute, but it is so very nice to come home to the woods.

2
Husky 2 points ago +2 / -0

Careful, its always the areas that haven't seen hurricanes in years that get the big one. Better knock on some wood lol

1
XCorneliusX 1 point ago +1 / -0

haha. Just saying the facts. I am 8 feet lower than needed to be out of the 500 year flood plain. Across the road it is not in that plain. Being on the gulf side, but inland, I would not see a surge. Worst I could get would be an obscenely overfilled river many miles away and much has been erected or put in the path of that river in more recent years.

We had one hurricane come up the gulf last year. Elsa. My house? Rain no worse than a longer Thunderstorm. I was also on the leeward wind side.

9
justinkayz 9 points ago +11 / -2

Let me just say that I'm Gen X, but many people over 65 are on fixed incomes. People have lost their houses because their $800 a month from SSI wasn't enough to cover their annual taxes

8
Trumpwon556 [S] 8 points ago +9 / -1

Why didn't they save for retirement when they were young? Serious question.

8
Megadeth 8 points ago +8 / -0

Some may have, but property taxes are dynamic ... In many cases, they've outpaced inflation.

Failure to pay them results in the loss of your land and home. How in the hell is that fair? Most of these taxes are used to pay for liberal indoctrination centers (public schools) ... They've taken more and more money from people since the Dept of Education was formed and our schools have gotten substantially worse. I don't think anyone should be paying them let alone those over 65 that have paid them for 30-40 years of their lives.

Property taxes need to be abolished ... Progressives know that theyll be paid regardless of the quality of their results. Get rid of those bullshit, communist taxes and people will have far more power fighting these assholes.

It's totally bullshit and boils my blood. They should be assessing based on square footage, property size, etc only. But nope, they will penalize the good citizens because obviously they use more of the town services than their neighbor with a duplicate house that looks like shit.

SqRt7744 2 points ago +2 / -0

Exactly, the incentive right now is to let your house go to shit.

See answer below in thread. But yeah, everyone would be better

Florida has not eliminated property tax for people over 65, but lower income folks over 65 can qualify for a larger homestead exemption and possibly other property tax reductions: (PDF warning) https://floridarevenue.com/property/Documents/pt110.pdf

That's because it will be. So will Texas.

Megadeth 1 point ago +1 / -0

As long as they don't let the cheating hag in Broward County (or similar) get control of counting the votes, I agree 100%.

1
WashingtonIsNext 1 point ago +1 / -0

What's her name?

2
Megadeth 2 points ago +2 / -0

Brenda Snipes (I had to look up the last name).

If memory serves, someone found a duffel bag of blank ballots in the back of a rental car at Ft Lauderdale airport back in 2018 when that gay drug addict was running against DeSantis. They were trying to steal that election big time since gay drug addict and the lard ass planetoid in GA (Stacey Abrams) were to be the poster children for the future of the Rat party.

Anyway, once that duffel bag was found, it almost seemed as if the Rats stopped trying to steal the election ... Not long after that, Snipes was gone.

What pisses me off the most is that Broward is the home to a lot of degenerates ... That balloon head kid that got the free ride to Harvard (Hogg?) Was from there ... The sheriff is a corrupt fucker ... Wasserman-Schultz and her head of mayonnaise is a Rep in that area .... I'm sure investigating that duffel bag could have shined more light on FL election corruption. Nobody went to jail for it. Frustrating.

I guess this is better than nothing, but we should be moving towards tax cuts by eliminating tax spending and permanently eliminating taxes, not dumb tax holidays that target specific items for promo periods, which guarantee not every company will be able to follow or pay attention to.

Hell, when they allowed HSAs to be used for disinfecting wipes, I could not find a SINGLE store that allowed the purchase many months after it went into effect and gave up trying because it was embarrassing having my hsa carsd declined so much.

1
KILLARY4PRISON 1 point ago +1 / -0

You can always just use your normal payment method and have the HSA account reimburse. Use a reward card.

So glad I move from a big city in a blue state to Florida last summer. DeSavage is one of the many reasons why

Wish Texas would do this. Damn property taxes are eating me up. 1k a month just for prop taxes and I live in the county. Would be worse if I lived in city limits

And the liberals are posting on twitter that he hates women and they have to retake FL to save them.

A booming economy produces more tax revenues! Nice they are giving it back

2
oilybohunkofshit 2 points ago +4 / -2

But they have to pay Disney's taxes so really there's a significant tax increase.

2

2
TPMJB 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sales tax exemptions must be nice. No state income tax so I was wondering what taxpayers could be saving.

I'd like property tax in Texas to not be so outrageous :')

2
spuger 2 points ago +2 / -0

He should tax more then give it all back as rebates, to take advantage of SALT.

1
Trumpwon556 [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

How does this work?

2
spuger 2 points ago +2 / -0

State and local tax deduction - high tax states get to pay less federal tax Its the thing trump capped at 750,000 for mortgages. Its bullshit because it oishes the federal tax bill onto low tax, Usually red states.

Tbh im not sure how it works either, but i think it could be exploited to give floridians back 2-5% of their income.

2
Hardrocker556 2 points ago +2 / -0

What taxes??...we don't pay state tax here...so what taxes did he cut??

2
JeremiahKassin 2 points ago +2 / -0

Sales tax, mostly. On specific items over specific timeframes.

Are property values still decent in Florida? I wouldn't mind the move from CA to FLA even if it's hell in the summer. What say? Nothing wrong with making Florida more redder.

3
JeremiahKassin 3 points ago +3 / -0

If you move to Florida, you'll chuckle at the prices here, while we weep at how they're rising.

Uh, not so fast Xem. Disney heir. It's looking like you've been drastically underpaying for about 50 years. We're going to shuffle around some of the tax breaks you've been enjoying and see how much you should be paying. Oh neat! $1.2 billion this year!

So smart because it encourages spending. WuFlu paychecks? People hoarded that money or wasted it on menial shopping. Meanwhile here if you want to save, you have to spend. I wonder what impact this has on welfare spending though, anyone in the know explain how that works?

1
MrWombatt 1 point ago +1 / -0

I can't believe the amount of people whom actually want this guy to lose. lol

Cutting government spending.
