Agreed. The alien thing is probably another New World Order trick but if we were being ruled by lizard people I wouldn't be surprised at all.

Read the article. Adam Schiff is leading the hearing. That alone tells me 3 things: If there are aliens they are either fake and gay. Or interdimensional demons. Or just holograms that will have the same political opinions as Obama.

They're demons.

15
tellittothedead1 15 points ago +16 / -1

Well, we don't know because the government has been lying for 80 years.

There's also the whole Black Cube from Saturn hypothesis, too...

28
tellittothedead1 28 points ago +30 / -2

All I'm saying is this: it may be interdimensional beings (demons), beings from another planet, or something else. The issue is that we KNOW the government has been lying about what they know and what they have for almost 80 years. People need to stop arguing about what they could be, and start arguing about what the government has been hiding

15
Mythnutbill 15 points ago +15 / -0

For sure. I think my favorite Ray of Hope hypothesis of hidden technilogy involves the Project: Looking Glass.

Supposedly, they have some kind of very accurate technology, whether from aliens or ancient civilizations, or whatever, that can give answers to whatever questions asked. Essentially, an incredibly accurate Oracle or Supercomputer that can tap into the realms of possibility.

The tale goes that those who seek pure domination and eternal power over humanity ran into a snag while observing answers to questions and methods. No matter how they altered the actions they would take in response to various predictions, supposedly the results, from countless strings of possibilities, always come down to a bottleneck wherein they ultimately lose and are toppled at the same, byt undisclosed, point in time.

So I take some solace in that. Regardless of what they may try in their desperation to beat their fate, we win in the end. I just hope we don't get the worst possible lead-up to that point.

Certainly an interesting concept, anyway.

24
peterbeater 24 points ago +24 / -0

What if the predictions have already been publicly available, for almost two-thousand years, to anyone willing to look? What if we're watching it play-out in real-time, and their hubris didn't think to take it seriously. #KJV Spoiler alert: God wins, in the end.

At this point we know there is ~something~ out there because of all the reports from all over the world about mystery craft that fly in physics defying ways.

Check out this channel coving the nimitz encounters.

Plus if you go down the rabbit hole there are a zillion unexplained videos from people with smartphones catching really odd shit in the sky. Some of it is obviously fake or using drones with lights but much of it is simply perplexing. I more or less trust Tucker to tell the truth and he covers it pretty well.

There is also this guy. He does go a bit farther in his topics than just ufos and deals with legend and myth too but its interesting at the minimum if you have an open mind about this stuff.

I Want To Believe

Just like Mulder, I do believe They are out there. Always have. Just a total sci-fi nerd that way I reckon.

The saddest thing about this hearing is if it were 3 years ago, or anything previous, I would be SO excited! I would be tuned in to watch the whole thing. Cause, aliens!

But now? Right now? I see it as a diversion, something else to get me to swivel my head away from things they don't want me to see or notice or care about. Important things. And that sucks. I don't like feeling jaded like this.

Not that I don't think evidence of intelligent life in the universe aside from Earth is important. It is. But this feels wrong. Gosh I hate feeling like that right now.

We don’t have to agree with each other on this. I don’t trust him. If I see him stand up in a way that costs him something tangible, I’ll reconsider. I hope I’m wrong about him.

2
SquiggyMcPepe 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm not all in on Tuckers side because he is a bit too far center left for my political tastes. But in general I think he brings up valid topics no one else is covering like how he just bold face says the border crisis is a straight up nwo invasion to flip the demographics and destroy us as a nation and culture so china and the globohomos can become the top powers. The election stuff is because if he brings it up as stolen he gets either suspended or canned probably both. He has mentioned the audits when they come up with actual tangible results and has said on a few occasions that ~after~ the audits have come in he thinks there was fraud in those states elections. But thats as close to him screaming about it as you are going to get. In the end its really up to us to spread the word by every means necessary and I've been posting and handing out links to the 2000 mules movie every day. Got my co workers to watch it(well a few of them) and they all came back and said holy shit why isn't this all over the news? So we need to get some sort of streisand effect going. Also Salty Cracker has put up a bunch of clips that get the point across without having to sit through the entire movie.

I read a theory once that the development of nuclear weapons might have triggered, if there exists, the interest of an advanced species. The use of said weapons against Japan might have then triggered their involvement, and thus, has explained the globalist positions we've seen ever since. Because it all kind of went downhill from there.

13
tellittothedead1 13 points ago +17 / -4

It is documented fact that in both the US, Russia, and UK, unidentified craft flew into bases which housed missile silos and disabled them. Flew right over the silos themselves. This is documented in both declassified government documents and eyewitness accounts.

8
Pepedom 8 points ago +8 / -0

Not sure why aliens would care if we blew ourselves up or not. Like seriously....I wouldn't care if an alien planet was about to blow its civilizations up. Such advanced creatures would either be conquerors (and would celebrate us doing half the work of destroying our defenses for them) or enlightened beings (who would know that in the grand scheme of things, us blowing half the world up is unimportant).

The only way an alien race would care if we used nukes is if we are a farm or a virtual playground to them. In that case, blow up the planet.

3
tellittothedead1 3 points ago +3 / -0

Well, think about it this way: do humans have a duty to protect other life forms from going extinct? Like elephants, gorillas, other endangered species? In my view we do. I don't know exactly why, but perhaps an advanced civilization cares about protecting sentient lifeforms throughout the universe.

3
Pepedom 3 points ago +3 / -0

Not if they are fighting against themselves. 99% of all animals that have ever existed on earth are extinct. Do I advocate we go blowup whole species, no. But if panda bears want to die off, so be it.

2
tellittothedead1 2 points ago +2 / -0

You're not wrong, however they don't have consciousness as we understand it. They're not aware of their own existence. Evolution killing off Pandas is one thing, while intentionally killing off whales for oil or elephants for tusks, is another. I think we're on the same page, though.

2
Pepedom 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oh I agree. But humans are natural destroyers bc we are the top predator. You can track extinction along with human migrations. Wholly mammoths, saber tooth tigers, giant sloths, etc... wherever we go, mass extinction happens. We are too good at surviving. The best thing we did for animals is domestication and mass production of meat. Without that, there wouldn't be a squirrel left alive.

So, we are on the same side but just coming at it from different directions.

The rapture will be blamed on UFO abductions.

29
SpaceCadet0106 29 points ago +29 / -0

Absolutely.

My current working theory. The story will go “aliens like and enjoy humankind and think humans have so much promise but they are being held back by the Christians, so the higher being aliens will vaporize all the Christian troublemakers holding humanity back in a very technologically advanced way that most humans just can’t fathom. Now that the Christian’s are gone the world can truly progress and reach unlimited heights and peace will abound, as long as no one dares to bring up Christianity again. “

3

Never met a dispensational fundamental Christian before?

I fall in that category too, although I'm not dogmatic on the rapture, but once one believes there is a God who interacts with humanity, and that Jesus physically rose from the dead, believing anything else supernatural isn't very difficult. There are very good logical arguements for Christ rising from the dead, too.

Still, I also understand when people think I'm crazy for taking the Bible literally.

3
Dratchev 3 points ago +3 / -0

Actually the whole "rapture" concept was invented by a dude in the 1800s. Nope Christians ain't going to be "rapture" away from the tribulation. the tribulation will separate the real Christians from the fake ones, few will make it.

1
JuanTitor 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm not dogmatic for it, and am certainly prepared for it not happening, but all the best arguments for it use verses, not quotes from some guy.

Moreover, I have found many against it are those that use interpretations from some dudes in the reformation that believe in replacement theology, which has no foundation in Scripture, just men trying to make sense of the world they lived in hundreds of years ago.

1
Dratchev 1 point ago +1 / -0

Key here is the "mark of the beast" which happens sometime in the middle of the trib IIRC. if Christians are "raptured" away before the trib then how in the world are Christians going to be forced to choose between God and the mark? Christians will be forced to make a choice between God and the Mark so the rapture is bs, the mark of the beast will weed out all the fake Christians cause they will line up for the mark. (A good test run on the mark would be to look at the poison vax, how many "Christians" lined up for the shot? you can bet the ones who lined up for the shot will for sure take the mark. (and its possible the vax could be the mark anyway)

1
JuanTitor 1 point ago +1 / -0

Have you never heard the other side of the argument? I've heard many sides, which is why I'm not dogmatic as there are good points all around.

The pre-trib rapture (because there are post tribulation and mid-tribulation rapture people) response to this is that a bunch of people would turn to God after the rapture, as the Antichrist is setting up his kingdom. The Mark isn't the first thing, it is first mentioned in chapter 13, after the scroll and trumpet judgements. It would seem it isn't enforced until some time into the Antichrist's reign, which would give many people time to turn to God.

1
SpaceCadet0106 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is untrue. In the Greek original of Paul’s letter to the Thessalonians he mentions the “harpazo” (to be snatched up, taken up by force). He is explaining the harpazo because someone had been preaching to them that it had already taken place and they had missed it which was causing a panic in the church. So Paul writes a letter to them better explaining the event of the future harpazo. Reading through Thessalonians and the context of why it was written you can then come to the conclusion that the first and earliest church’s were preaching the concept of the rapture, in Greek the harpazo. The Bible was then translated into Latin where the word “Harpazo” becomes “raptura”- meaning to carry off. Raptura in Latin is translated into English as Rapture. The concept was not invented in the 1800s.

Another allegorically allusion to the idea of the rapture can be found in the Old Testament where the world was wicked and God plans to destroy the wickedness by flood. He saves Noah’s family THROUGH the flood (through the tribulation). But they still experience the flood so that’s not very “rapture” like, but many forget Enoch. Where is enoch, Enoch walked in the ways of the Lord and God “took him up” right before the flood started. This is very on par with the themes and works of the Bible in that the past often is a reflection of the future.

I’m not really trying to argue what the rapture entails, or when it occurs. My biggest point is that the rapture is a concept that was not just invented in modern times it was discussed and written about in the formation of the very first early church’s by Paul himself.

1
FitOfficial 1 point ago +2 / -1

I don't think people are crazy for believing anything, Scientology aside. It's human nature.

2
stratocaster_patriot 2 points ago +2 / -0

I can't wait until the aliens come and say, "Diversity is strength? hahahahahahah tell that to Rebulon 5. Ask them how they like their extinction. hahahahaha" Of course it's that deep resonant, throw the head back, laughter that we associate with aliens.

"progress and reach unlimited heights" Ask them why we domesticated grains 4000 years ago (long before Christians) but it wasn't until 1969 that they realized that's what we are supposed to eat exclusively or else. That type of new heights guys? lol Personally I consider progress to be a modern day idol. There is no such thing outside of grace and they confuse technology with human progress even though it enslaves us eventually. We own none of it and none of the know-how individually and it can be lost forever as we've seen in history. In other words they think the individual cannot progress, only the whole and how's that been going? (Oh well it's the Boomers fault ya know). Yet they demand they are individual each with unique gender (for example) and should answer to nothing. It's so strange to see the insanity from the other side now and see how clearly bizarre those pagan beliefs are compared to Christian beliefs. Once again they make these assumptions about the meaning of life based on all the evidence to the contrary of what they think.

1
populist_nationalist 1 point ago +1 / -0

So what is the story for innocent children who are raptured and can't be seen as Christian troublemakers?

4
NormieReeeeeedus 4 points ago +4 / -0

Just saw this twitter thread about how May 14 is a significant potential date for the beginning of the tribulation.

He also had this thread in which he says the rapture will be attributed to aliens.

He also claims Trump is the Anti-Christ so take that as you will, pretty wild stuff.

9
FitOfficial 9 points ago +9 / -0

That thread doesn't even really have the balls to predict anything so I'm not even sure what you'd be looking for.

Also, there's like 5 or 6 verses that pretty specifically say you can't predict the end. No idea why people keep trying.

Matthew 24:36 “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone."

2
NormieReeeeeedus 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm not looking for anything. Early in the day I saw those twitter threads pointing at May 14th and aliens being blamed for any potential "Rapture" type situation. Then, on seeing this post about an open hearing with regards to UAP's, and the comment I responded to, I thought it was pretty interesting.

Your criticism also seems to be contradictory.

That thread doesn't even really have the balls to predict anything...

No idea why people keep trying.

I do however agree that trying to make predictions is pointless.

1 Thessalonians 5:2 "For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night."

1
FitOfficial 1 point ago +2 / -1

My stance is it's pointless to predict something but if you're going to go through the trouble of making a "dates to watch" thread with a bunch of supposed simultaneous data point intersections at least stick your neck out and predict an earthquake or something.

1
NormieReeeeeedus 1 point ago +1 / -0

True, I reckon he didn't actually say the rapture was going to happen on the 14th, just that it was a date to watch. That's like 99% of the people who engage in that type of prophetic speculation.

2
Average-Joe 2 points ago +2 / -0

0

1
Emperorvoid 1 point ago +3 / -2

The Rapture is a hilarious fairy tale.

1
NormieReeeeeedus 1 point ago +2 / -1

Perhaps. I personally don't buy into rapture theory. I do like to think outside of my beliefs on occasion and consider different scenarios. Upon considering if rapture were to take place, and the governments blamed it on an alien abduction, or if there were an actual large scale alien abduction, either scenario would be a total mind fuck.

Baseless speculation is often pointless, but sometimes it's fun.

0
coverstory 0 points ago +1 / -1

It wasn't obvious the first time. Many questioned Him. Many even of his own people.

And these days you can practically fake any movie, there's countless "magic tricks" that can be performed to a live crowd, many more can be done from a distance. There are almost no miracles that he can perform that would be even remotely convincing in the modern world.

Almost all the miracles he performed 2000 years ago are actually very easy to replicate or fake in the modern world. Even if He were crucified again in front of a huge crowd, and you were one of them, it will be hard to tell if that's what really happened from a distance. Not even talking about watching it in a movie - that's trivial to fake.

What could He possibly do that wouldn't be received with skepticism? When modern magicians can pull out so many tricks, and modern medicine can heal the sick (so much that lepers don't exist), and Google already knows so many things about people, it could even track their phone GPS to a fig tree . Even riding on clouds is probably fakeable from a far enough distance, with drones and other shenanigans.

There's so many people, he'll have to do something unimaginable to convince people who haven't witnessed it with their own eyes, and even those who witness it with their eyes can be skeptical.

It's been brewing since the release of confirmed UFO videos and confirmed and CONTINUED government study of these things. Sorry, but most people just haven't been paying attention

3
Hafez 3 points ago +3 / -0

I no longer need any convincing that UFOs are legit—I literally saw them with my own eyes. There’s no plausible explanation for what I saw, other than somebody has some technology far in advance of what the approved narrative says exists. Might be aliens but I really don’t know.

2
weme06 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think quite a bit of the craft belongs to America.

1
tellittothedead1 1 point ago +2 / -1

Well, exactly. And there's millions of other people who have seen things that make no sense, just like you. The argument isn't really about whether they exist or are real. The argument is about WHAT THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS AND WHEN DID THEY KNOW IT, WHAT THEY HAVE, AND WHAT THEY'VE STUDIED. Anyone on here claiming aliens are fake should also be claiming covid is real and that the government is telling the truth.

1
Hafez 1 point ago +1 / -0

I’m sure they know much more than we do about it. And much more than they’re currently letting on.

1
tellittothedead1 1 point ago +2 / -1

That’s right they do. Here’s one of the ways they get away with it: The DOD is subject to direct oversight on everything-budget, projects, etc, so they have government contractors-Lockheed Martin for example, house many of the artifacts, documents, research, etc so that it doesn’t accidentally get lured. These companies aren’t subject to oversight and it gives the DOD/CIA/MIC plausible deniability.

Objectivism 7 points ago +9 / -2

It's just more of the anti religion stuff.

Three scientific developments would immediately put Christian faith into question.

  1. Discovery of Aliens
  2. Time Travel
  3. Teleportation

Any of those happen every Christian needs to start over. I doubt each of them because they seem like laws of the universe themselves. But would be great for the left if any were to show up or "seem" possible because it would instantly cast doubt over all monotheism.

11
MarxhatedJews 11 points ago +12 / -1

I could see how atheists and satanists could play that, but theologically I don't see any discounting that will sway believers. Jesus is of God who was begotten by Mary to redeem the world.

Nothing limits God nor prevents him from saving other created beings.

6
tellittothedead1 6 points ago +7 / -1

Exactly. Thank you. Nor creating other beings. People automatically presume God gave us infinite knowledge of himself, and he didn't. He can also choose to reveal different things he has done at whatever point he wants. He is after all, infinite, and time is nothing to him.

1
EagleI 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agree. For instance, the amount of information in the Bible about angels, their origin, and history is very small. The Bible is our story. It doesn't contain all of God's knowledge or works, just what he thought we needed to know.

1
Objectivism 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yea but that's not the problem. The problem is if they have zero concept of Him, we'd be challenged to classify them as animalia or soul bearing beings. The problem isn't arrogating that God would only create us. It's that if the aliens are mortal creations of His and seem conscious like we are not like animals are we'd need them to have been told about Him to not have a problem about the soul and it's uniqueness. If they haven't been exposed are they also tainted by original sin? Did "all have fallen short" mean "all humans" or "all soul bearing beings".

We would be potentially forced to choose between two troubling implications, unable to have it both ways. That's the issue not God's omnipotence.

1
tellittothedead1 1 point ago +2 / -1

I get your point. That presumes that a sovereign creator would choose to reveal himself to his creations as well. It may be prerogative of God to not choose to reveal himself to his other creations. Some say that the aliens are interested in us precisely because of our souls (I've never heard that they "want" our souls, but are interested in them)

0
Objectivism 0 points ago +1 / -1

Or that these mortal beings are either: already 'saved' or without original sin or otherwise not going to our hell for punishments that would not be their fault, or the wages of sin as death only applies to humans and without explanation or that these mortals are not creations of His (perhaps creations of creations of His but now we're drifting into pantheism).

It definitely presents challenges. Which is why I think it's not going to happen. Fine tuned universe theory means no life anywhere is likely, to me, and that's science confirming what I would infer anyway as a Christian.

1
tellittothedead1 1 point ago +1 / -0

Philosophically, if the universe had a beginning, it follows that it was created. We know the universe is vast and contains trillions of stars and planets. The probability of their not being other life forms is just too small, relative to the vastness of space and number of stars contained in the universe

3
Objectivism 3 points ago +4 / -1

Actually the probability of life (at least as we know it - the "like us" kind) is substantially infinitesimally low.

Check out the "Finely Tuned Universe" theory - theoretical physicists are gathering more evidence that the Universe is really not "infinite dice rolls" and, go figure, has rules. And by those rules, life somewhere/anywhere is so unlikely to occur it's considered scientifically impossible.

So the infinite nature of the universe isn't - and this is the key - by itself enough evidence for me to believe that there must be life other than the miracle of humanity.

0
MarxhatedJews 0 points ago +1 / -1

He did give us the capacity for infinite ego... Ha! Infinite self inflating ego.

2
tellittothedead1 2 points ago +2 / -0

true

2
Objectivism 2 points ago +3 / -1

Lets just say that if that's the case, they better know of Him or someone that fits the description.

Else CS Lewis' logic goes out the window.

On the good side, this is also why I feel confident stating that I'm not in a cult as a believer whatsoever. I know what would invalidate my faith and I have faith that these are impossibilities until proven otherwise.

9
SpaceCadet0106 9 points ago +10 / -1

Aliens = Angles/ demons or other spirit beings talked about in the Bible

Time travel: Many Christian’s have an understanding that God is outside of our time domain. Time is a creation the 4th dimension. God the creator is outside of it. He created it. He is the alpha the omega the beginning the end.

Teleportation: After Jesus resurrection he continually “teleports”. Making appearances suddenly in closed/locked rooms, suddenly many miles away in the country side.

Some conjecture is this is a capability of being in a higher dimension perhaps the 5th or 6th . Some believe there being up to 10 dimensions in all but mankind is only capable of experience 4 (right now) and with our resurrected bodies will have access/capability of all dimensions or at least more and that even perhaps the ability to be in the greater dimensions is part of what was lost in the garden through the fall.

This is just my take as a Christian who enjoys the more sciency take on the Bible.

8
SpaceCadet0106 8 points ago +8 / -0

Personally I feel the church could do a better job of preaching from the Bible directly verse by verse rather than this constant “topical” discussion track that’s been on repeat for a decade. If the church did a better job of reading the Bible from beginning to end, much of what is discovered today in science, history, politics, news in general would only confirm the Bible’s validity but instead todays Christian’s are generally just taught that they are the all Davids ready to take on Goliath through the power of Christ and that their 9 to 5 battle with their soul crushing boss is just a stones throw away from being a victory in kingdom of God. (Just a personal rant of my own)

3
Chancehappeneth 3 points ago +3 / -0

I wish I could mark you as a favorite user so I could follow your comments!

Totally agree. I think most Protestants are still following a liturgical model, a set sermon for every Sunday, year after year with the focus on behavioral traits or applications that make you a "good Christian." It's self-help with a dose of self-righteousness.

I spent a decade in Calvary Chapels that do verse by verse. It didn't take long for me to realize that I'd been studying the Bible deeper than most of the teachers. But that's CC's model and it's not a bad approach. It's accessible and gracious to the unchurched. But it's beginners only with no encouragement to move beyond milk.

My best learning and growing years have been in teaching my children. Even though all my kids have a new devotion every day with me, and all their school curriculum is Bible based, I've made it a mission to read through the entire Bible with each of them. It's astonishing how many kids grow up in Church and only know "stories" and "lessons." They know what they're supposed to believe but they not only don't know why, but their curiosity to know why has never been developed.

I want my kids to know every inch, even the boring stuff. I want them to see how it connects up. I want them to know how worldview affects every "truth" and "fact" they hear.

2
SpaceCadet0106 2 points ago +2 / -0

What you’re taking the time to do with your children is absolutely phenomenal. I feel the very same as you, I was raised in the church, I even went to private Christian school most of my life. And I feel I was just given the same story lessons over and over. Which is great, but lacking. I do feel like the church of today is just for beginners and there is not much growing after that unless you seek out your own study time or study group. Which is fine I suppose but I do wish church’s really focused on creating in depth verse by verse studies for their congregation to attend outside of church and less time on Women’s conferences on how to battle anxiety or be a good wife etc. Those lessons would naturally occur in a verse by verse study along with a deeper understanding of just how every part of the Bible connects back to front, front to back in the most poetic and breathtaking way. It’s a truly phenomenal literary experience that so many are missing out on.

Since homeschooling is taking off in America I think it would be an ideal time to create curriculum that does all of this for children. It would be quite a load to take on, but I’ve considered it though I have no experience. Starting one book at a time one chapter at a time

2
Chancehappeneth 2 points ago +2 / -0

I have a nice core group of people in a study group at my church that are willing to get deeper than most, but unless there's a book to buy and a leader for the "study", they don't want to come. I've suggested on many occasions that we just meet to pray and read through the actual Bible but apparently that's too hard?

A University mentality has poisoned the Church. Everything is a course in something, as if spiritual development is something you attain like a degree.

3
PensivePatriot 3 points ago +3 / -0

I’m a believer, and I have utter certainty that the supernatural is just technology beyond our present understanding.

3
SpaceCadet0106 3 points ago +3 / -0

I too feel this notion about lots of biblical texts and it fits well being some sort of technological advancements not even close to being with our human reach. But I also look at DNA which works very akin to a computer operating system yet it’s of nature not necessarily technology, but there is no technology we have achieved that is as advanced as natural human DNA. So even just the basic constructs of nature is beyond our technology making the idea of things being supernatural extremely feasible for me.

1
Objectivism 1 point ago +2 / -1

I think once you get to that level the human idea of techne falls into "lean not on your own understanding"

But I would be very surprised if once we understood it, it would be "equal" to our concept of a tool

1
Objectivism 1 point ago +2 / -1

I like it. Those divine powers becoming accessible to mortals through tools of our own creation would/should cause every Christian to pause.

The angels as aliens theory and the firmament is fascinating. But aliens here meant other terrestrial/mortal species.

3
SpaceCadet0106 3 points ago +3 / -0

I think there’s a lot of validity in your point. Brings to mind the transhumanism movement. I do also see the one world religion leaching on to the idea that through technological advance and DNA breakthroughs mankind could “become like Gods” coming full circle to Nimrod and the Tower of Babel. Which is a very poetic ending to mankind and fits nicely into the Bible’s narrative. A solid takeaway on your part.

7
Destineed369 7 points ago +7 / -0

What does teleportation have to do with religion?

4
Objectivism 4 points ago +5 / -1

Calls into question the nature of the soul in a major way. Either as matter-energy transformation or quantum dislocation.

ELI5 if you can become energy and then matter again, or if you can be "copied" or "stored" without just dying, there's a major problem with viewing your body as the seat of an immortal and holy/special soul.

7
ProphetOfKek 7 points ago +7 / -0

Nah, none of us even have the same atoms in our body as when we were a child. This doesn’t pose any problems in my mind.

2
Objectivism 2 points ago +3 / -1

Ship of Theseus thought experiment informs the eating ourselves into a new body. Hard to argue either side.

But if we can be copied did we just create a new soul? What you can transfer like a file you can copy. See the problem?

1
ProphetOfKek 1 point ago +1 / -0

The soul is not a physical item that can be copied.

0
Objectivism 0 points ago +1 / -1

Yea exactly. And if/when two of you pop out of a transporter someday... which one has it, or are there two now, or was it "split"?

4
tellittothedead1 4 points ago +5 / -1

Not necessarily. Although the Bible say that man was made in God's image, it also says that not all things will be revealed to man. Therefore, the existence of aliens doesn't disprove Christianity because that would mean a sovereign God also created other life forms. Since he is SOVEREIGN, the presumption that he doesn't have the wherewithal, power, and prerogative to create the universe and all the life in it and not tell us shouldn't be ruled out. Also, assuming what God could or couldn't do puts you on a level with the creator, and I assure you, you and I are not one speck of dust as close to that level.

There's a reason why Gene Roddenberry worked closely with a Navy admiral (I think that was his rank) on the concepts for Star Trek. There's also a reason why the Air Force was heavily involved in Stargate. I heard a pretty credible guy on Frank Morano's show talking about how each military branch has its own space program independent of the others, and that the Navy was the most advanced. Scifi shows designed for mass consumption were to have technological concepts and alien concepts that would align with the actual truth, and over the years newer things would be introduced.

If you look at some of the behavior in Star Trek, for example doing all your work on an iPad, that's something we all do now, and the visual of that behavior was introduced in 1987. We probably aren't far from the user interfaces we see now in The Expanse.

Interesting stuff to think about, and definitely transcends politics.
