4 and 5 years can't read like that yet....

47
jughaid 47 points ago +49 / -2

yes, this is probably not what its being reported as.... 4-year olds could not begin to understand this assignment.

16
Caerulei 16 points ago +19 / -3

Everyone in my family could read at this level by 4 years old. Besides, I doubt a teacher who doesn't realise that 4 year olds are too young to learn about sex is going to realise that children are too young to read.

4
wantstogomoon 4 points ago +4 / -0

I taught my kids starting at 4 how to read basic words and they teach them in kindergarten. At 6 they can fully read books, may not understand all the words but yes they can read.

4
Paxelmania 4 points ago +4 / -0

my guess is this might be something like a 4th/5th grade assignment (8 or 9 years) and then broken telephone

2
Caerulei 2 points ago +2 / -0

Still shocking if that was the case. I would be appalled if 15 year olds were getting this assignment. Naked grooming.

10
belil569 10 points ago +13 / -3

Mine could. They need a little help with new words but they could have read that.

Most. Likely there was a lesson plan that went with this. Then assignment was explained

Fake

2
Paxelmania 2 points ago +2 / -0

The 'reportedly' is pretty vague. Nothing so specific as "a single mom of a 4th grade boy showed this to reporter B"

The fewer details the more areas of disconnect there might be from the sourcing.

OTOH if I look up the title of this book and what it's author Kerri Isham has to say about it... https://ca.linkedin.com/in/kerri-isham-b5b79b72

BODY SMART: RIGHT FROM THE START (AGES 3-10)

The sexual, physical, mental, and spiritual safety of our children should be a top priority for everyone.

This book was written to support children ages 3-10.

The 3-10 range is also at https://www.powerupeducation.com/product-page/body-smart-right-from-the-start

So the reality might be worse than advertised (3 years old, not 4) yet I'm wondering if maybe this book might be split into different chapters for different age groups.

It is real. The creator was defending in on FB. Check the Libs of Tiktok Twitter thread.

Also, the school's name is T'lisa̱lagi'lakw School. It's such as woke name...

If it wasn't real, the school would have responded already to deny it. But they haven't. Instead, no one is answering calls or emails according to people on Twitter.

3
gustodog 3 points ago +3 / -0

It's a largely native school, hence the name.

2
gustodog 2 points ago +2 / -0

Not fake.

Here's a PDF of the complete book:

https://ufile.io/1ffxexyu

It's by a groomer named Kerri Isham.

This doesn't pass the smell test. First off, 4-5 year olds can't even read this. Even in private school, a 5 year old can't read this. Second, if this was real it would be taught in the classroom and NEVER sent home to the parents to see in the form of homework. Third, I could make this in 10 minutes. It's not for me to prove it's fake, it's for the poster to prove it's real.

Body Smart Right From the Start by Kerri Isham will guide parents through the foundations of body safety and keeping kids safe from sexual abuse.

So it's a guide for parents to protect their kids from groomers

2
Trump2020Cruz2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

“Body Smart Right From the Start by Kerri Isham is ideal for children between the ages of 3 – 7 years of age.”

If the OP is actually a page from the book, it seems more a book for groomers.

1
Paxelmania 1 point ago +1 / -0

other ads say 3-10, seems they can't keep consistent

1
__I_dindu__nufin_ 1 point ago +1 / -0

Well, it doesn't seem more of a book for groomers, because again, it clearly says it's a guide for parents to teach their kids to know what inappropriate touching is from other adults. I'll be teaching my son this same stuff as soon as he can talk, and if you think that's "grooming" you can take it up with someone who's raising a kid and get your ass kicked.

1
Trump2020Cruz2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

Lol kick my ass. If I saw you handing out this smut to a group of 25 four year olds I’d kick your ass myself. If you were teaching your child an important lesson that’s one thing, because you can ensure the entire lesson is being taught. However, in a closed environment away from parents, this same material can be weaponized for grooming. Literally this page from OP taken out of context and taught to children in the wrong way is absolutely grooming.

1
deplorablebot 1 point ago +1 / -0

Agreed. I do not fault the author, as her intent seems honorable and appropriate. Rather, I fault the groomer teacher for using this material with OTHER PEOPLE'S KIDS.

1
gustodog 1 point ago +1 / -0

"At Power Up, we believe Sexual Health Education is NOT optional AND is best delivered starting from 2 years old."

These folks are pretty clearly groomers.

1
Brellin 1 point ago +1 / -0

You realize that people can lie about the contents of stuff right? Or that they can be deluded and think that 'introducing children to masturbation early' somehow equates to protecting them from sexual abuse? Just because it says it's says it's one thing doesn't mean it's actually that thing, one need only look at trans people in real life to know this simple fact.

1
gustodog 1 point ago +1 / -0

Inversion: they pose as protectors while acting as predators.

1
DonJr2024 1 point ago +1 / -0

That someone wrote that book does not mean that a kindergarten class was presented the book or this homework assignment.

3
deplorablebot 3 points ago +3 / -0

From the USA Today article linked above. If the school is investigating then it likely happened. Otherwise, they would have denied outright.

"T’lisa̱lagi’lakw School is part of the Namgis First Nation. A spokesperson for the Nation told Libs of TikTok “the incident is under investigation” and therefore was not able to comment further. The principal could not be reached for comment."

4
stratocaster_patriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

All the people saying they and their kids could read this level at age 4 are liars. I was advanced and by 1st grade was filling in for adults that were failing to show up to school on reading day and sit with us in groups so we could learn to read. I was a reading teacher and I could not have even begun to understand 'masturbation' or 'vulva' at age 4. Certainly nobody in my class was smart enough to have read and understood this assignment. By the time I was 7 I could alphabetize big words but never would have known what masturbation was. At that age an adult would have had to rip it out and wank in front of me for me to have any idea that was as thing or why on earth you would to do it. In fact, I heard about it eventually and thought it was for total losers and so I never did until I'd had sex for the first time. But case in point, I read Lord of the Rings at age 9 but would never have been able to read this paper at age 4. Period.

1
TrappedRed_in_blue 1 point ago +1 / -0

Not so. My kids could read by 4, now while they may have been able to pronounce the word, they wouldnt know what it means.

Smaller, more age appropriate words they already could define, but anything new they had to ask me what it means.

1
stratocaster_patriot 1 point ago +1 / -0

OK then if that's not a lie then your kids were well well above average and therefore what you are saying doesn't apply to public school. Kids don't read and comprehend at age 4. Pronouncing words is not reading. I read Korean the same way but have no idea what it says unless it's a borrowed word. Maybe they were looking at the pictures and remembering what you had read. I got through almost a year of piano lessons as a kid that way before they realized I wasn't reading the music.

2
TrappedRed_in_blue 2 points ago +2 / -0

Mine can read age appropriate words like all 3 letter words, most 4 letter words and several 5 letter words. A word like "masturbation", since they know their phonics lessons, they can pronounce it but as for understanding it, that they would ask for help in.

By age 4, most 3 letter words they should know and starting a few 4 letter words. This is where teaching phonics lessons versus just memorization first differentiates itself so that you can say yes a child at 4 can read or not. If they are being taught phonics lessons then yes they can read some things by age 4 because they know how to break down a new word into its parts and they know the sounds of the letters. A child just memorizing the words would not be able to read new words they have not encountered before.

Its not that its a lie, but it is generally the start of the age range where kids know how to read. Some don't learn until 7years old at the latest.

The book is real, the worksheet is real, and the author, Kerri Isham is serious:

https://sexedrescue.com/body-smart-right-from-the-start-by-kerri-isham/

The parent seems convinced that this was a surreptitious action by a teacher, not programmed curriculum.

https://www.libsoftiktok.com/p/kindergarteners-sent-home-with-masturbation

3
FitOfficial 3 points ago +3 / -0

Ok, if this was some rogue teacher passing this shit out then I buy it.

The fact that the book exists though is fucking bad enough. Bitch should have to register as a sex offender on that alone.

18
savagememes 18 points ago +18 / -0

DEATH PENALTY

4
FitOfficial 4 points ago +14 / -10

If it was real, yeah. But it's not.

EDIT: I stand corrected. It's real and from a real book, and the parent is alleging the teacher went rogue and passed it out since it's not part of the curriculum.

The author of this book should also be forced to register as a sex offender.

9
6
FitOfficial 6 points ago +6 / -0

It's sounding like the teacher did this of their own volition and it wasn't part of the actual curriculum.

I'm with you on the book though. That's beyond fucked. Author should have to register as a sex offender.

2
Wiggle-Hard [S] 2 points ago +2 / -0

Im just glad someone else posted the book, if i had reading skills one of my links from earlier showed the book as well, shit is fucked up, fist pounds btw👊

1
deplorablebot 1 point ago +1 / -0

The author appears to market the book to parents, for use with their children, NOT for use by teachers with OTHER PEOPLES CHILDREN. IF this is the case, I have no problem with the author.

0
3
FitOfficial 3 points ago +7 / -4

There is no fucking way the word "masturbation" is going to be printed on kindergarten homework to be sent home to parents due to both reading comprehension and sheer lunacy.

...even in Canada. No way.

EDIT: Sorry for all the edits, posted in a few different comment threads. The parent is supposedly alleging that the teacher added this as supplementary work and it's not part of the actual curriculum. The teacher and the author of this shit should be jailed and forced to register as sex offenders.

3
DonJr2024 3 points ago +3 / -0

Thank you for finding out the (more likely true) explanation of this.

This is sick and I agree the author should be treated as a disgusting pervert and the teacher should be fired at the very least.

2
Paxelmania 2 points ago +2 / -0

The teacher and the author of this shit should be jailed and forced to register as sex offenders.

regarding the author, I'm not sure if they were marketing at 3-7 or 3-10 but if that particular section was intended for 10-year olds (5th grade) I suppose we should question if it would be appropriate to have this assignment at that age or any age.

I suppose if your kid was beating it in weird areas and you didn't want to traumatize them with some kind of "touch it and it will fall off" spiel you could have a talk about what room they ought to move it to, but this kind of thing seems so common sense I don't know why you'd need a book to talk you through it.

2
FitOfficial 2 points ago +3 / -1

Just putting this out there... if anyone ever told my child at any age to "draw the room you masturbate in" there is absolutely nothing legal I can type here.

~30 years ago, the Academy Award winning movie, Ladybugs, came out. In this groundbreaking movie, a male soccer coach of a girls soccer team recruits his girlfriend's son, who was always a girl inside, to join the team. The bigoted mother gets pissed off when she finds out. Then, the girls have to play the championship game without their special teammate and friend.

The movie worked because nobody believed anyone would actually do that. Fast forward to today. We have tranny kids being paraded around and celebrated. We have groomer teachers, groomer parents, Disneys, and Dr. Oz. We're not that far away from this. Pretty f'n gross.

Oh yeah, Ladybugs wasn't actually an Oscar wiener, for anyone who thought I was serious (they're out there).

FitOfficial 0 points ago +1 / -1

I'd never even heard of Ladybugs but I don't pay attention to movies so I guess it's a wash lol

Can't fathom why. Groomers gonna groom.

Grossest part is that they're gonna "support her".

How about teaching a 13 year old to suck it up for a few years because teenage girls are ALWAYS confused at that age?

2
