US Treasury prints currency. Most of it is bits in a computer. Just technical details, in essence you're correct, or at least you were before DJT altered the relationship between the Fed and our US Treasury. I don't really understand it now but some say the two are "merged." Others say Blackrock owns it all.

Money is distinct from currency, that's a detail worth understanding too.
