I guess it's good that he feels more Irish/Catholic than Jewish. Ford wasn't really born into privilege. He was a carpenter, and I believe he actually met George Lucas while working on a studio building. He was first cast for a small role in American Graffiti, and then later helped Lucas cast people for Star Wars. He was a stand-in for Han Solo, reading the character's lines to the actors in rehearsals but was eventually just given the role out of convenience. Little did he know, he struck gold.
