I've never seen a doomer say this. Everyone figured out the power of the horde watching wallstreetbets. Then the netflix bloodbath.

That being said, corporations aren't giving much of a shit about their US market because they are whoring out to foreign markets while giving us pedo shit to keep their ESG score high for continued financing.

While fun to watch, it's doubtful that any amount of loss in the US market is going to make them change their ways. And even if they did, fuck 'em anyway just for being pedos in the first place.

Click the 10Y button. Disney stock neither fell because of woke politics (the entire market is down) nor is the stock at a value any lower than it was before Trump.

It, like the entire market, was overvalued because of a limitless supply of free money dolled out from the Fed. The market is simply correcting.

4
scyenceFiction 4 points ago +4 / -0

Look back 3 years. 10Y is missing a whole bunch of acquisitions that added a lot of market cap. You can really only look at comps between now and April 2019, when the Fox acquisition was complete- which is where we're at now in stock price.

The last few months have wiped out nearly 3 years of gains.

LonelyLadypedeSF_CA 4 points ago +4 / -0

Attendance precipitously down in April/May indicates some boycott success:

https://www.disneytouristblog.com/spring-crowds-fall-at-disney-world/

"If you’ve visited DHS in the last two weeks, you’ve benefited from a significant reprieve in wait time levels. There’s a good chance you didn’t realize it, as Disney’s Hollywood Studios can be unpleasant during the middle of even a “decent” day, but wait times dropped from a peak of 76 minutes to a range of 45-57 minutes in the last two weeks. When you add it all up, that’s a huge difference ... [at DisneyWorld] wait times dropped across the board in a consistent fashion that cannot be explained away by weather, attraction uptime, or anything else."

3
Southboundanddown 3 points ago +3 / -0

It’s not like normies are abstaining from visiting Groomer Land or Groomer World, or anything else. No idea why in the course of the entire market dropping someone would look at this and say “see that boycott no one is doing is working”.

2
OneBigMaga 2 points ago +2 / -0

Jesus Christ you sound pretty stupid

Okay first off - virtually every publicly traded companys stock chart looks almost identical to that right now because they are all in a race to the bottom at the present moment, which has little to do with boycotts

Second off - you can literally look at this very fucking chart that they gave as proof and see that all they have really done is simply wiped out what gains they had made after picking back up slightly towards the end of covid.....

Pretty sure all the RINOs are applauding while they buy Disney stock in massive quantities, seeing this as a buying opportunity.

5
Bullet3250 5 points ago +5 / -0

When the CEO of Disney states .... they are 'Going to create more Gay Content for Children' - I don't see allot of Parents cheering that.

1
OneBigMaga 1 point ago +1 / -0

Conservatives have very short memories. Disney will rerelease something and all the paytriots will run out and buy it for their kids.

1
Hunter77 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'm just saying, there are plenty of people cheering this not because they care about Disney, but because they see a great opportunity to make money. Moral and economic conservatives are not the same.

2
Bullet3250 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yeah - that's fine..

In my world I see 75% of ALL PARENTS abandoning Disney (several liberal parents too) -

DIS stock price never returns until the return to a normal policy.

3
Voteordie 3 points ago +4 / -1

Disney beat EPS estimates by 71 cents, (they were forecasted at -.64 and came in at 0.08) recovering profitability far quicker than anyone expected. They also announced #s at the parks recovering faster than expected, so no too surprising they were flying high.

I mean, yeah, but the point is Disney's not down 50% in a vacuum. The average tech company is down 50%. Everything was extremely overpriced and still kind of is.

People here used to celebrate Twitter dropping 3% a day after Trump said something and the whole market was down 3%, etc..

4

Disneys down way more than the market since January. Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s because of any kind of boycott or negative PR but it could be.

I may get downvoted to hell for this, but instead of celebrating the demise of an American icon, we should be asking how it can be redeemed and de-wokified. Maybe we should all buy their stock and vote against their work board of directors?

I’d rather be able to go back to a non-woke Disney World and know that the rainbow jihadists lost, and that I helped beat their ass.

And not just Disney. I mean, EVERY big company is now woke as shit. How do we get them back?

12
liberty4alll [S] 12 points ago +12 / -0

I actually agree with you. Which is why I worded my title to specify that it’s ‘woke’ Disney that I’m against.

I was even considering instead posting a graph showing the rise of non-woke Disney. And the fall of woke Disney.

The house that Walt built can rise again, so long as they stick to the principles of its founder.

5
FrankZappaSA 5 points ago +5 / -0

You are so correct.

They need 2 co-chief executives—like Walt and Roy, or Frank Wells and Michael Eisner, one creative and one operationally focused—that focus on rooting out all of the woke shit, making their parks great again, and minimizing all politics in their products. If they do that, they’d be on top again instantly.

0
Voteordie 0 points ago +1 / -1

Walt and Roy were not co-CEOs, Roy barely had a role in the company outside of being a Disney. Roy was largely viewed as a pain in the ass whose only big contribution to the company was suing the shit out of Eisner to get him to step down before he drove Disney into the ground.

As for Wells, he was the COO but he always played second fiddle to Eisner, if he had any real influence Disney quest, the entire late 90s to early 2000s decline of Disney animation, and the Euro Disneyland flop would’ve never happened.

If you have interest in Disney you should read Bob Igers book about his time as CEO, it’s fascinating.

4
Apersonofinterest 4 points ago +4 / -0

You’re thinking of the wrong Roy. Walt’s brother Roy was largely responsible for securing the financing and making partnership, sponsorship deals.

Without Roy, there would be no Disneyland.

-2
Voteordie -2 points ago +1 / -3

Yeah another commenter said that as well, I was mixing up timelines

3
FrankZappaSA 3 points ago +3 / -0

You've got the wrong Roy.

You're writing about Roy E Disney, Walt's nephew. I'm talking about Roy O Disney, Walt's brother and Roy E's father. Roy E had a little bit of influence with ousting Eisner (and Disney really needed to oust Eisner at that point), but Roy O cemented Walt's legacy by making sure that Walt Disney World got built, and (of course) serving as the operations guy for Disney throughout the entire history of the company until 1971.

Technically speaking, Walt was president (and never CEO) and Roy O was CEO until his death in 1971. Both were registered Republicans for their entire lives, I think. (I think Roy E was as well.) Walt in particular hated liberals, and specifically LBJ.

https://weeklyview.net/2014/11/06/walt-disney-meets-lbj/

My point is: Walt and Roy O would HATE what has become of the company. And for good reason. But I doubt they'd want it to be leveled.

I'd argue It has been clearly seen that the Walt Disney Company runs better with a creative personality (Walt, Eisner) along with an operations guy (Roy O, Frank Wells). Frank Wells ABSOLUTELY had a profound effect in keeping Eisner on course in much the same way that Roy O did the same for Walt.

Further, It was impossible for Wells to be responsible for much of the decline in the late 90's to early 2000's as Wells died in a helicopter crash while skiing in 1994. (It's even been suggested that Eisner was involved in getting that helicopter to crash so that he could seize control of the company. And I wouldn't put it past Eisner.) Wells was involved in Euro Disney, though it was well documented how at odds Eisner was with Wells regarding Euro Disney.

I probably should Iger's book--I've read so much on Disney--but I don't know that I could get through anything written by Iger. He's a globalist liberal... I figure anything he'd write would be propaganda. I've got very little respect for Iger.

I'll send a book recommendation back your way: James B. Stewart's DisneyWar. It's an outstanding book that tells the history of the Walt Disney Company during the Eisner age (1983 until about 2003). It's very honest about all of the personalities around Disney and provides a really realistic picture on what really happened in the late 90's / early 2000's and why it happened.

1
liberty4alll [S] 1 point ago +1 / -0

I think you’re conflating Roy O. with Roy E.

Also, Wells had lots of influence at the company - a few flops doesn’t negate the incredible growth the company had during his time.

-2
Voteordie -2 points ago +1 / -3

That’s possible, as for Wells, those were massive flops that nearly sunk Disney. Disney animation was saved by the Pixar deal and euro Disneyland is a still an abject disaster

Unfortunately, this is probably due more to the entire economy crashing and burning and insane inflation than it is to wokeness rejection, as practically everything is tanking.

Disney is entirely an entertainment company, and entertainment expenses are the first thing to be cut when times get tough.
