Toured the Mayan ruins in Mexico, where child sacrifice was an honor. They cut out their hearts for their "gods," so hurricanes wouldn't wipe out their tribes. Insane. Then the Spanish came by boat & slaughtered the Mayan people. Evil people exist in every country, nation, & tribe, but they want to "teach" our kids that those pesky horrible Europeans, who traveled to North America are the only bad people past & present. Unfortunately, we all fall short of the glory of God and evil exists, but their is hope in Jesus.

The Aztecs made the Maya look like chumps in the realm of human sacrifice. They were so collectively psychotic that literally as soon as they arrived in central Mexico, they sacrificed the daughter of the first local king who made the mistake of welcoming them, then had a priest wearing her skin come out dancing to greet him after he came to dinner - and were shocked that he and his people, far from being grateful, ended up driving them out of that kingdom. The Aztecs also insisted on tormenting their child sacrifices before flaying them for the glory of Tlaloc, the rain god, because they thought those tears surely = imminent heavy rainfall.

And in their hurry to 'decolonize' America, California wants to teach that the Christians were wrong to have 'killed' those monstrous '''''gods''''' and to get the same kids who would've been horribly butchered in their name had they lived in 15th-century Mesoamerica, to chant prayers to them instead.

Whatever the Conquistadors' other crimes, as far as I'm concerned they were first & foremost nothing short of demon-slayers when they destroyed these horrific blights of 'civilizations'. Also, they couldn't have done it without the help of hundreds of thousands of neighboring native peoples who were absolutely sick of being raided for slaves & sacrifices by the then-dominant Aztecs, chief of whom were the Tlaxcalans (who are still around today, and enjoyed an important position as the Spaniards' chief native enforcers back in the day - hardly victims of genocide).

Yep. The Aztecs were the worst, by far. The Conquistadors showed them no mercy for a reason.

And just by chance, the Aztecs had among the largest supplies of gold of any civilization. They didn't even know how valuable it was because it was so abundant.

I remember hearing some leftist podcaster rationalize the torture and sacrifice of the POWs taken by Aztecs, by creating a false eqivalence between that and Europeans killing soldiers in war.

But Neil Young. Haven't you listened to his song "Cortez the Killer"? And cried?

Damn, it would have been an insane experience to be a fly on the wall while the Aztecs did their thing.

Link to your claims on the skin wearing, etc.?

willy-willis 11 points ago +12 / -1

Re: the killing of the Culhuacan princess and her skin being worn to 'greet' her father, I first found the claim in Richard Townsend's The Aztecs. He cites the Aztecs' own founding myth as recorded in their surviving pre-Spanish Conquest codices, as do other Mesoamericanist scholars like David Carrasco. If you don't want to buy the book or dig it up in a library, you can find the entire relevant passage (and only that) here.

Re: general horrific religious practices, the core primary source is the Florentine Codex, which was compiled by a Spanish friar with the help of his native students shortly after the fall of the Aztec Empire and has been one of our most detailed contemporary records of Aztec practices since its completion. You can find digital scans of the whole thing on the Library of Congress' website, the one most relevant in this context being Book 2 (on religious ceremonies), but since it's in Spanish and Nahuatl, you'll probably either need to have a translator website like DeepL on hand or else want the English translation. Unfortunately that's much newer so you'll either have to dig it up in a library, buy it or content yourself with the few excerpts that have been posted online - as far as I can tell nobody has uploaded the entire thing onto the Internet for free reading yet, though if you're so inclined you might have better luck in searching for it than me.

BS.

? If you're determined to defend the Aztecs, you're welcome to try against basically every historian who's written about them (including many products of 20th century academia who didn't like the Spanish Empire) and their own word.

Most likely a case of: "My ancestors were great jaguar warriors, not sacrifice obsessed - drug induced demonic vision following monsters. Cus a video game said so!"

The Aztecs were monsters, they terrorized the land. They were also at their end, their over reliance on Maize without the understanding that repeated plantings of it starves the soil, making it barren and void of nitrogen. They blighted themselves and their society, but instead of changing things, they were convinced by the spirits that the gods demanded more sacrifice. They were cruel, twisted, demented yet wanted to live in the lap of luxury. Typical of any empire at it's end.

In my video game, Rise of Nations, the Aztecs have the power of Sacrifice.

In the 80s I got to climb the pyramid at Chichen Itza before they closed it for climbing. My takeaway was that was an evil evil place.

Unfortunately, the glorious Incan civilization also practiced child sacrifice. In fact, child sacrifice was also done by different native American tribes.

Satanic temple suing texas over abortion being their religious right.

That's so fucking disgusting. If crushing the skulls of unborn children and sucking their corpses out of the mother is a "religious right", the my new religious right is to crush the skulls of every person in that temple and feed them to hungry alligators.

The people in the 1980s that went around bombing abortion clinics and killing doctors that performed the abortions were right.

But would you say, PP isn't that nuanced in their architectural history? And, proceeded to build what they thought was a thinly veiled homage to child sacrofice? Seems too far fetched to be just a coincidence that to a lay person, and the demons at PP, the buildings are basically the same.

It’s ok if they’re killed by guns. Just not abortion. Unless you’re rich then it’s all good. Simple rules.

There’s a difference between ritual sacrifice in a religious context and senseless murder, especially when it involves children. What do yall think the Eucharist is? G-rated religious sacrifice.

5
LoobintheToobin 5 points ago +5 / -0

No actual blood was used in the making of this sacrament.

However,

I mean obviously there’s a difference. The Central Americans’ version is more worthy than retarded “satanism.” At least the former held actual convictions.

1
splink 1 point ago +1 / -0

The Eucharist is symbolic in remembrance of an adult who chose to die to save others. There is absolutely no equivalence with actual countless babies murdered for someone's convenience.

1
potbelliedgoblino 1 point ago +1 / -0

The Eucharist is transmuting wine and bread to literally drink the blood and eat the body of a person religiously sacrificed. Thats not denouncing or hating on Christianity, its a keystone of the faith. Its connection to ritual sacrifice is not coincidence.
