WTF?

This would be almost a veto override if real R was in office.

This is a seditious conspiracy against the US Constitution!

Burn them all!

I think these sellouts like Cornyn, Cheney, Kinzinger, Graham, etc., know they'll never win another election again. So what they're doing is making darn sure they get a seat at the table with the globalist faction they've sided with.

We'll see how that works out for them, but this right here is the most glaring example we've ever seen for why the 17th Amendment needs to be repealed.

19
-jjjjjjjjjj- 19 points ago +20 / -1

That's the opposite of what's happening. They know they'll never have to win another election again. So they are doing what they've always wanted to do.

18
War_Hamster 18 points ago +18 / -0

That's kinda what I'm suggesting. They're gambling that the globalists win and our Republic ends. Let's hope they made a bad bet.

7
Wtf_socialismreally 7 points ago +7 / -0

If the Republic ends, then so do the safeties it provides for the people who helps to end it.

I don't think they want that so specifically. There are too many armed people in this country.

They would rather keep the slow boil going, because that keeps the population pacified.

2
War_Hamster 2 points ago +2 / -0

That narrative would seem to be supported by some of the depopulation theories.

2
Rocks_vs_Uzis 2 points ago +2 / -0

But when people are unable to feed themselves because the economy is in the toilet these people will be lynched in the streets like in Sri Lanka. What they're trying to do has never worked in a culture like ours, we're too violent, too creative and too well armed.

5
ToastedTexan 5 points ago +5 / -0

Why repeal the 17th? I’d like to see shorter terms as well as limits on number of terms, but isn’t the 17th what helps keep us a constitutional republic instead of a straight democracy? Allowing smaller states to be represented equally to larger ones maintaining a check & balance on the system and states rights.

19
War_Hamster 19 points ago +19 / -0

but isn’t the 17th what helps keep us a constitutional republic instead of a straight democracy"

The exact opposite is true.

Prior to the 17th, Senators were appointed by the State Legislature and could be recalled. Now they are elected by popular vote, just like the House, and no recall is possible (except in Utah).

The real checks and balances were different from what we've been taught. The people were to be represented by the House and elected by popular vote. The States were to be represented by the Senate, and selected by the legislatures. The Executive branch represented itself, but was elected by a republican system in the Electoral College.

Now, all three of those are elected by popular vote, which is exactly what a pure Democracy is.

If you were the type of person who wanted to influence the system to your own advantage (corruption), would you find it easier to bribe 2 political parties, or 50 States with 100's of counties? The 17A was the ultimate power grab by those with the intent and means of manipulating the system.

Let me know if you'd like to hear more, because I've got several more arguments to support my position, and I think they''re pretty defensible arguments.

One last note is that the 17A was passed in 1913. That's the same year they gave us the Federal Reserve and the 16A income tax. The timing was not coincidental; all of those 3 worked together to enshrine the corruption that we are now living through.

Fun fact: The FDA was also created in 1913, by the Rockefellers and Carnegies, who also happened to represented at Jeckyll Island where the whole scheme was concocted.

5
ToastedTexan 5 points ago +5 / -0

Ahh I remembered there was something different about the way they were appointed but the rest not at all. Thanks for the information/insight. Also I watched that vid on the CB you recommended, it was a good listen.

6
War_Hamster 6 points ago +6 / -0

Cheers.

Keep asking questions, my friend.

Quick note on term limits: If a corrupt politician knows he never has to face voters again, what's to stop him from lining his own pockets and rewarding his donors even more blatantly?

8
War_Hamster 8 points ago +8 / -0

Allowing smaller states to be represented equally to larger ones maintaining a check & balance on the system and states rights."

This deserves its own reply.

Do our Senators actually represent their States, big or small, or do they represent a national political party?

Repeal the 17A and we can go back to what you correctly suggest.

A. I hate politics.

B. It is far from weak to work for every peaceful solution possible before resorting to other means.

C. Politics is a reality. It exists. Ignoring it altogether is how we got into this mess.

6
GorillaTactics 6 points ago +6 / -0

Yep. I stayed casually interested in politics, but functionally passive for way too long. People I respected told me I needed to get involved, and I listened and respected what they said, but always found myself “too busy”, or scheduly-conflicted too much to dig into it. My errors are glaring me in the face now. Best time was to start yesterday(or years ago…) but no better time at this point than today.

6
War_Hamster 6 points ago +6 / -0

Welcome to the party, pal. And I mean that sincerely.

We only need a few more million like you and we'll have something.

I'm equally guilty, or perhaps moreso, because I saw what was going on and didn't really get involved in more than online debate until 2015.

So, now he'll just take the big payout, and do the bidding of the deep state for a few years, and then retire and become a no-show consultant or lobbyist, making $15-20 million/year in bribery salary

Just like John Boehner, no one will remember him in a few years, and he'll retire as a multi-multi millionaire.

These people have no consciences, and have long since stopped caring about any thing important to us voters.

They're watching what's happening in all the primaries, they've been outed, now they're just burning the country down on the way out. All they have to do is say, nope. They also might be dumb enough to think the illegal immigrants will vote for them, based on the recent voting trends in the Hispanic community, but those are legal immigrants, 3rd or 4th generation plus, they've been around long enough to have figured out what Dems really are. The line cutters would break 90+ percent for Dems. Although, one could make an argument that Democrats should kill amnesty, as a long term strategy. But they won't, they only think short term.

3

1
Wtf_socialismreally 1 point ago +2 / -1

Well... No.

That's the problem with this party line bullshit that Democrats have willfully forgotten.

You don't represent only your political party. Your constituency is everyone where you reside. If you are President, your constituency is the entire country. If you are a Senator, your constituency is your entire state. If you are a member of the House, your constituency is everyone who resides in your district.

If you are a Republican, you still represent the Democrats who didn't vote for you.

However, you are supposed to represent the overall will of the people, so if you were voted in by 90 people because they wanted you to stop things like this, then you are supposed to do the will of those even though 10 people went with the guy who wants to ban all guns ever.

2

That’s the Republicans favorite con. They pretend to want to pass something that we want, but they don’t actually want it, so they feign outrage when the democrats block it, knowing that will happen all along.

Dick Burr --> https://www.burr.senate.gov/ <-NRA funded and vetted

I "think" this is the text, I couldn't find a number, just "bipartisan safer communities act" --> https://www.murphy.senate.gov/imo/media/doc/bipartisan_safer_communities_act_text.pdf

correction: dick's out, should have caught this earlier, looks like a bunch of the gop that voted for this are also on their way out

3
GreyKnight 3 points ago +3 / -0

Rights aren’t up for a vote, they were put to paper to be recorded, but not granted or to be taken away by the state.

3
NotAHandshake 3 points ago +3 / -0

Names with states for easy reference. Look at all these faggots in supposedly 2A states...

Roy Blunt (R-MO)

Richard Burr (R-NC)

Shelly Moore-Capito (R-WV)

Bill Cassidy (R-LA)

Susan Collins (R-ME)

John Cornyn (R-TX)

Joni Ernst (R-IA)

Lindsey Graham (R-SC)

Mitch McConnell (R-KY)

Lisa Murkowski (R-AK)

Rob Portman (R-OH)

Mitt Romney (R-UT)

Thom Tillis (R-NC)

Todd Young (R-IN)

3
Foomer 3 points ago +3 / -0

They are RINOS.

They will fully support the 2A when up for election, but back to their globalist plot to disarm and enslave when in office.

They LIE and say it's to save lives.

SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED

3
ExileOnRedditStreet 3 points ago +3 / -0

Sold out again by the usual shitbags

3
Snoman 3 points ago +3 / -0

Keep voting for those “lessor of two evils” you fucking idiots.

Get more of what your getting..

3
Rageofpepe 3 points ago +4 / -1

Look this may pass the senate but I doubt it will pass the house. This isn’t radical enough for the dems in the house. Calm down till it is signed. And if it’s signed don’t comply. It won’t hold up in court. If you have to hide your guns until it’s defeated in court.

12
Data 12 points ago +12 / -0

Don't hide your guns. If it's time to bury them, it's time to use them. People need to take this seriously and stop being chicken shit slaves to a corrupt system. Stop relinquishing your rights with the excuse that, "Oh it's just temporary!" and expect the fucking courts to save us.

THIS IS THE HILL.

1
IntergalacticWalrus 1 point ago +1 / -0

Bury some. Fight with others.

3
ProudKoreanAmerican 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, it will pass. You don't think there's enough Republicans and Democrats in the House? Lol.

There will be maybe 10 Democrats who vote against this. MAYBE.

4
HeavyMetalPatriot 4 points ago +4 / -0

Zero Demonrats will oppose this. Regardless how "weak" they may consider the bill, its another step toward destroying the 2A and that's all that matters.

1
Rageofpepe 1 point ago +1 / -0

I disagree I think they want completely to gut the second amendment. Not to fund state red flag laws. That doesn’t exist in most states. They are not republicans they don’t settle for half measures. They want total victory. I hate them but I at least respect that they will lie cheat and steal to get what they want. If Republicans had half the will they had we would never be in this situation

0
flashersenpai 0 points ago +1 / -1

Disagree. Giffords, Everytown, Moms Demand etc are happy with the bill.

2
Zackattack 2 points ago +2 / -0

Mitt Romney is the cuckiest cuck. Even if he changed his party to democrat he's still be a big fucking cuck, bitch, snakey ass, TRAITOR! Whoever keeps voting for him, seriously Just stop! Don't vote! Accept whatever leftist runs against him. It's better than knowing you perpetuated his traitorish cuckiness!!

2
VarusSPQR 2 points ago +2 / -0

Secession is the only way out of this. And it needs to happen FAST or every single person that is against the communist takeover is going to die. It’s inevitable and it’s time. America died 4 Nov 2020. We would not be seceding from America.

2
BurgerChef90 2 points ago +3 / -1

Fuck secession. This is OUR FUCKING COUNTRY.

Why secede and let them have it? We need to force them to leave. They hate our history our flag and our country, why let them have it?

Fuck them, force them to secede

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +1 / -0

California is not your country. Neither is New York or Washington. They are shitholes. Stop worrying about them and allowing them to have a vote on whether you have rights or not.

2
DinosaurAlert 2 points ago +2 / -0

One was how to make abusive romantic partners subject to the existing ban that violent spouses face to obtaining guns.

Holy shit, so now every crazy ex-girlfriend can fuck you over.

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +1 / -0

matriarchy

anything a woman says is an green light for using state violence

2
Johnrgalt 2 points ago +2 / -0

“In any compromise between good and evil, it is only evil that can profit”. Ayn Rand.

Years of letting the commies peck away has led us to where we are today.

People need to learn to just say “No”, and not budge from that.

2
FerkenBlerkin 2 points ago +2 / -0

I'm guessing that Capito will never come back to WV. She'll be shouted down everywhere she goes. What a piece of shit.

1
RealRedneck 1 point ago +1 / -0

Due to my position in my company, I've met her on a number of occasions. Once was for a "Grow with Google" event she hosted at the Clay Center. I'm drafting an email now.

1
FerkenBlerkin 1 point ago +1 / -0

"All laws which are repugnant to the Constitution are null and void". Her voting for this will be an act of sedition.

2
Qwikphaze 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m just wondering when someone will say youu done fucked with me for the last time and clean house.

2
Garbage_Day 2 points ago +2 / -0

What's in this gun control bill.

0
BurgerChef90 0 points ago +5 / -5

Mostly a ton of money to the FBI, stricter crackdown on straw purchases. Something about red flag laws, and mental health

It’s not the “OMG THEYRE TAKING OUR GUNS!” Like a lot on here are saying. I’ve realize this site has turned into nothing but a Putin loving, Jew hating, vastly overreacting, taking things out of proportion group of people.

It’s quite sad. We are doing exactly what the left does, jumping to conclusions and freaking out over things that aren’t as bad as we believe they are

1
Redlabel 1 point ago +1 / -0

I wonder if States will reject the grant money

1
DonaIdTrump 1 point ago +1 / -0

This is a violation of the constitution

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +2 / -1

"something about red flag laws"

You aren't suggesting red flag laws are in any way acceptable. It's civil forfeiture directed by karens and bitch ex's.

2
QuickMaths 2 points ago +2 / -0

Which of those came as a surprise to you guys?

Obviously we knew Murkowski, Collins, and Romney would vote with the dems as they usually do.

2
Nomad899 2 points ago +2 / -0

14 Republican Senators voted to advance the 80-page gun control bill:

Roy Blunt Richard Burr Shelly Moore-Capito Bill Cassidy Susan Collins John Cornyn Joni Ernst Lindsey Graham Mitch McConnell Lisa Murkowski Rob Portman Mitt Romney Thom Tillis Todd Young

Final vote on the bill could come Friday.… more freedom lost… more to follow

1
lolpaladins 1 point ago +1 / -0

it would have been all of the GOP senators, but they want you to think at least a few of them are still on your side.
