And no you know why Boston Robotics has an infinite budget.

Watch this dancing robot.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fn3KWM1kuAw

And now picture this thing chasing you down a dirty alley in the dark in the rain.

Because that is where this where this is going.

SelfReliancePepe 51 points ago +53 / -2

I watched that video and yes, it's terrifying.

Keep in mind that all military vehicles, armored soldiers and riot police and Boston Dynamics robots can be rendered useless with water balloons, any kind of oil (including vegetable oil) and black paint.

Riot police can not see through their shields or visors, can not hold their shields, can not operate firearms when splashed with greasy black paint... and their teammates won't fire even rubber bullets when they or their team are covered in mysterious black stuff. Wiping their visors or shields will only make everything worse and now their gloves are covered in black grease too.

Vehicles become useless when their windshields are covered in oily black paint and the windshield wipers will only make it worse. These vehicles certainly can't be operated around police or military without overwhelming risk to their own men. Also try to burst a balloon on the back window for extra-points and it'll force the passengers to abandon their vehicle. Now you have a military vehicle to drive or burn.

And those robots would be fucked too. I suspect they have very small camera vision but once it's covered in greasy oil then each ten million dollar robot is rendered useless by one angry boi with $0.10 worth of supplies. Even if they have infrared vision to track humans, they still need normal camera optics when moving.

Finally, if you think shit is about to hit the fan and you live in a city, consider moving bricks into your apartment and then sneaking them on to the roof if you can get access without triggering any alarms. Just wrap two bricks in a towel and put 'em in your empty backpack and do it every day for a month. If anyone asks, just say you're going to the roof to take photos. If one or two people from every building put a small stash of bricks somewhere on the roof of tall buildings, it could make a fun surprise for UN Peacekeeping Forces, riot police or military in the streets below.

Modifying our drones with black spray paint gun could be feasible. Idk about the kill switches in commercial drones though, seem to remember that they used it to prevent journalists from filming the southern border.

14
SelfReliancePepe 14 points ago +15 / -1

I've thought much about using drones but yes, I'd be shocked if most that are capable of carrying a payload don't come with a kill switch like you described.

Perhaps bypassing the kill switch would be as easy as changing the firmware code? Finding the kill switch test and branching around it.

Titanium 16 points ago +16 / -0

They just jam the tiny frequency range allowed by unlicensed radio users, or jam the GPU signal if autonomous.

Military radios hop between random frequencies many times per second inside a large range, so to jam them you need to overpower the entire spectrum with radio noise.

9
SelfReliancePepe 9 points ago +10 / -1

Radio jammers are illegal in the U.S... but I suspect they'd be super easy to make. I wonder what range could be jammed from a normal residential power outlet or a car battery?

10
Husky 10 points ago +10 / -0

Its harder to successfully jam a signal than you'd think. It takes a lot of energy and you have to have an idea of the type of signal you're trying to disrupt.

It you're jamming a civilian project, you wouldn't have much trouble blocking a control signal. A nation-state project though, likely to have countermeasures including detection and coordinated changes, redundant multiband communication.

This may just be because I prefer ME to EE but... The simplest solution is usually preferable. Best thing you can do to these robots is a 12 gauge slug. Take out a sensor array, take out a receiver, take out a processor, take out a battery, take out a motor, any one of these and the whole system collapses. Second best thing you can do is a net. Toss a cast net on it, doesn't matter how sophisticated the robots get, it's getting tangled and will be inoperable.

And as for autonomous robots not driven by a human? For one, Camouflage is exceptionally better against robotic sensors than people. They struggle to distinguish one object from it's neighbor when there are not recognizable details to distinguish them. They struggle identifying the corner of a brick wall when another wall of another building is directly behind it. They REALLY struggle navigating through forests. The trees all appear similar enough that the robots struggle to tell what is tree and what is occupiable space.

Now, As for human "driven" autonomous now lrobots, all you really need to block is internet. Humans need to interact with video. They're not using a 5.8ghz 800 line transmitter to get back to base, they're sending it through a network layer. If you identify the chattiest band, that's your video uplink. Jam that, even if they know where the robot is and can send it instructions through another receive, they won't be able to respond to any attempts to disable it because they're blind.

Talon54 0 points ago +1 / -1

The military has had broadband jamming capability since the early 80s at least.

2
bangbus 2 points ago +2 / -0

6
-jjjjjjjjjj- 6 points ago +6 / -0

Every drone a civilian can buy in an American store has a GPS module and programmed black lists where it won't allow you to take off. Even if you can defeat that lockout, the US military can shut down civilian access to GPS. We'll need the dumb-drones the Iranian's use. Fly by visual.

"one angry boi with $0.10 worth of supplies."

Worth more than that captured, imagine harvesting the weapons and components from these things during a few years war with the ZOG? Mechanics wet dream

3
SelfReliancePepe 3 points ago +4 / -1

It's amazing how many simple engineering solutions can be found when you lack time and resources.

There's a fun lesson that some Engineering lecturers share with their class. It's a story about an engineering firm that was hired to solve a mechanical construction line problem involving the accidental and occasional shipment of empty boxes that were supposed to contain product.

The engineers performed systems analysis on the problem and devised a solution involving the addition of a new machine on the construction line that electronically weighed each box to determine if it was empty or not. If it was empty then the assembly line would stop, a buzzer would sound and staff would inspect the box to confirm it was empty before the line would resume.

The mechanical solution, updated procedures and staff training and took three months to complete and cost $100,000.

The rollout was complete and the management were delighted. Not a single empty box was shipped within the first month! 100% success! The only problem was the siren never sounded once and the construction line was never halted because no empty boxes were ever detected.

One of the minimum wage construction line workers heard the company was having problems with shipping empty boxes so he borrowed a large $10 electric fan that the company used during summer and lowered it to the height of the conveyor belt so the fan would blow the empty boxes into a large trash bin. The problem took him five minutes to solve and cost nothing.

This will be never ending and I have learned over my career to trust the operators of and maintenance team behind any equipment in and facility I'm working with. All my experience has an on the floor counter in an operator or a technician. I find these people quick and believe it or not most don't really know how gifted they are in their specialization. Those fixing these billion dollar buildings forget about that quite often and implement disasters leading to critical injury, capital equipment loss, all the way down the line to shuttering the doors.

I started in shipping and logistics cute name for unloading chinese cargo containers by hand at 17yo and ended up doing something similar, implemented a fix at a distribution warehouse saving millions per year on corrugated cardboard inventory loss. my 18yo self had such a nice mustang .. lol.

2
clownworld30330 2 points ago +2 / -0

Remember the Dallas police shooter was taken out with an rc drone with a bomb.

Have you seen those videos of flying drones with thermal scopes dropping bombs on Russian soldiers in Ukraine?

Do you remember that case where Philadelphia police dropped an incendiary bomb on a building from a helicopter, and ended up burning down the whole block, back in the 80s? I 'member.

That's where this is headed.

We would need a few thousand homegrown flying drones with AI, thermal, and bombs, in order to present a threat to the establishment.

1
SelfReliancePepe 1 point ago +2 / -1

2
BoberFett 2 points ago +2 / -0

So you're saying I need to add a paint pellet gun or two to the collection. Consider it done.

1
SelfReliancePepe 1 point ago +2 / -1

I know nothing about paint pellet guns but they sound good. Even better if you can mix oil in with the paint so car windscreen washer fluid and wipers won't clean away the mess.

2
hungryfreaksdaddy 2 points ago +2 / -0

What about oil-based paint? It's already a common art medium.

1
SelfReliancePepe 1 point ago +2 / -1

I suspect oil based paint would be perfect because it would mix with the oil.

I'd recommend making one water balloon to test to see the results. That may help you get the most effective or cheapest rations to cause maximum problems to the enemy.

1
BoberFett 1 point ago +1 / -0

I've only played paintball once or twice, but from my recollection they're very oily/greasy by default.

1
SelfReliancePepe 1 point ago +2 / -1

Sadly, I suspect they're water soluble by design because nobody wants their clothing riddled with oily stains.

I was about to suggest it's worth testing, but I suspect most people won't be willing to shoot pellets at their own car.

Do you know why that tech hasn't been deployed in any of the countless American conflicts? Its because its unreliable and expensive. The US set up C-RAM systems at bases in the Middle East. Every 200 dollar drone with an RPG strapped to it that the C-RAM shoots down costs over a million dollars in ammo. And its taken 30 years of development to get it to a point where it reliably shoots at drones.

Turret guns designed for area control would be significantly more complicated. Thermal and Camera systems can be defeated cheaply with foil blankets and lasers. It will also need power, ammo and maintenance to run. That means it needs humans to supply it and those humans are vulnerable.

But, the biggest issue is indirect fire. A turret gun system would represent millions of dollars in expenditures and it would be defenseless against a homemade mortar or drone-dropped IED.

If 50-100k goat fuckers who can't count to 11 without taking their socks off can stalemate and eventually wait out the US military when it has zero concern for optics, it makes no sense to think they can defeat 3-4 million US citizens when they would run a very real risk of losing the population by going skynet on their own citizens.

-5

3
Valensiakol 3 points ago +4 / -1

No, it isn't. I know it probably looks like it to someone who doesn't know what the fuck they're talking about, but I work with 3D modeling, rendering and animation for a living. This is not CGI. Pay attention to the lighting and shadows. Watch the pads at the very end when the bot on the left flips onto them.

This is NOT CGI.

It looks strange firstly because they are using a steady-cam to record, so the camera work is especially smooth and doesn't feel "real" like a regular handheld camera does, and because the robots themselves are just very uncanny, as I said before.

The reason they see us as a threat is because they want to do something bad to us that would invoke some sort of a rebellion.

Also the same reason the feds see "whooooite supremacisis" as the #1 domestic threat... because they see white men in particular as a threat to their power.

Obviously, black Americans are the #1 threat to any Americans well being, especially other black Americans.

But they aren't so much a threat to the powers that be, just innocent civilians, which the government doesn't give a shit about.

5
covfefe-time 5 points ago +5 / -0

Hence why they allow 'criminals' to run wild and terrorize us.

Everything we've seen over the past 2 years alone should tell us everything about how much they 'care' about us, and what their likely plans will be going forward.

Time to prepare in any way, shape or form that is possible.

2
IMMORTAN_TRUMP 2 points ago +2 / -0

The reason they DONT see us as a threat is because not a single fraudster, nor a single traitor, nor a single grooming Marxist has been shot.

1
MAGAsJustBegun 1 point ago +1 / -0

The first bullet hadn't really been shot, metaphorically speaking.

There's usually a few things that happen that are brutal that lead up to wars.

Yes, the gov is over stepping like crazy. They're doing very evil things. But they aren't gunning people down, yet.

More so lawfare (law warfare), using the system to destroy opposition politically and locking them away on trumped up charges.

Usually for things to get bloody, someone has to first draw blood.

Thats why that great Thomas Jefferson quote is so true, "from time to time, the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of both patriots and tyrants to keep liberty" (not exact quote, but along those lines)

It's great because it's true. We can't have libert without casualty, because evil always seeks power over people.
