Are you aware that almost ALL the signers of the Declaration were jailed, killed, lost their families or homes and businesses at the hands of the Crown during the revolution? And, the Constitution wasn't written til years after the revolution ended. The Bill of Rights and the rest were added much later. In any event the govt was responsible for paying for the war, just like now. They borrowed from France and others and later imposed taxes and the troops were paid.

Judge wouldn't allow him to use the defenses that he had plan to use (illegitimate committee, Executive privilege etc.). He didn't have any defense left to use.

5
Bidensbuttplug 5 points ago +6 / -1

He could have used executive privilege but it was just revealed recently they one of Trumps lawyers slipped up and admitted in a court filing that he never granted executive privilege. As for the committee, the whole “illegitimate” claim didn’t have a chance. Even under this Trump appointed judge.

having no defense and having the judge rule you cant present your defense is not the same thing

defense; "my client didnt do this because 1..."

judge; "you cant use that"

d; "ok then he did not do this because 2..."

j; "ah ya you cant use that"

d; "ok well he is not guilt because 3..."

j; "ahh ya that is a no from me dog"

d; "those are all the defense we planned"

j; "the defense rests then"

41
ColbyP 41 points ago +41 / -0

Completely incorrect. The judge straight up barred them from claiming innocence or arguing his 1st Amendment rights. Having no argument and having the judge rule you aren't allowed to make an argument aren't the same thing. The second one is what happens in a fascist country, which apparently we are now.

I've come to the conclusion that the majority of the people here that tell us they'll never vote again and mock us for voting are Democrats trying to get us to stay home. Almost like they're hoping they can get people that live in deep red areas that don't have Dominion fucking them over to stay home so that the few liberals that live there can turn those places blue.

They're not going to get me to stop voting. I live in an area that is so blue Democrats run unopposed in nearly all of the local positions and I still go vote even if it's for the statewide positions. Family reasons keep me from moving but if it wasn't for that I'd go to Florida.

For the ones that are legit Trump supporters that refuse to vote, first of all, I wonder why they are here when Trump is still endorsing candidates and if he wanted us to stop voting he wouldn't bother endorsing anyone.

More importantly, they need to look at how much damage Dems have done with a 50+VP as tiebreaker Senate and a simple majority House. Imagine how much more damage they could do with a supermajority, including the power to amend the Constitution if that supermajority includes at least 38 state legislatures. They'd repeal the 2nd the first chance they get.

Quick question:

Why is destroying the free world is so important to the (globalists))? They're already absurdly rich. What is this really about?

There is literally only one answer to that question. We're not complying our way out of this. The globalists are presenting us with two options:

My brother stole my national guard uniforms in an era before cell phones. I told my unit what happened and they told me I can't come in without being dressed, and to find the unis ASAP. My brother was a vagabond. There was no way to track him down. One day, a sheriff showed up at my home and arrested me. "Failure to account for Army National Guard Equipment" My trial and sentencing were instantaneous. I sat down with my public pretender and he said "LOL! What are you here for? I'm so swamped and to be honest, this is the first time I've heard of your case! LOL!" I was sentenced to 45 days in jail with a year hanging, five years supervised probation, 150 hours of community service, and a permanent felony on my record that prevented me from finishing my degree, because nobody would hire a felon. The GI bill was the whole reason I joined. Bastards sentenced me to a life of hard labor but forced me into figuring out how to be an entrepreneur and make a living without their degrees. 6
Herefordamemesss 6 points ago +12 / -6

Self defense claims are a specific type of defense that’s mutually exclusive from not guilty.

Not guilty: I didn’t do it Self defense: I did it, but to protect myself

So, you can’t argue both, you have to choose, because the moment you claim self defense you’re admitting you’re guilty.

15
Zskills 15 points ago +16 / -1

Dude that's total BS.

you're not guilty of the crime BECAUSE it was self defense!!! What a crock

7
Kramit 7 points ago +7 / -0

Exactly my thoughts while filling court docs out.

1
Tendies_or_GTFO 1 point ago +2 / -1

In many states, self defense is an affirmative defense, which means, the defendant pleads guilty to committing the crime, but requests exception based on the legally allowable circumstances codified in the statute. It's not legally the same thing as not guilty in those states. ---> https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/affirmative_defense

5
MagneticArm 5 points ago +7 / -2

No. Admitting self defense doesnt mean you are guilty. It means “yes i shot the faggot but it was in self defense. So i am guilty of blowing the faggot pedos brains out but not guilty of a crime”

2
Kramit 2 points ago +2 / -0

Thus why a simple entry of "not guilty" should be a reasonable response. What would I be pleading not guilty for but the crime itself.

1
Herefordamemesss 1 point ago +1 / -0

You said the exact thing I said

“I’m GUILTY of blowing the faggot pedos brains out”.

“But not guilty of a crime”

What are you even arguing?

2
ptchinster 2 points ago +3 / -1

This depends on jurisdiction.

2
Kramit 2 points ago +2 / -0

You are exactly correct. That's why I put not guilty instead of self defense. I didn't assault this guy, I was protecting myself from him....

2
ProudKoreanAmerican 2 points ago +2 / -0

If you play games like that, the judge will stack more charges.

1
Kramit 1 point ago +1 / -0

Yup, and in that position you don't want to be pissing off the Jugde that's about to determine you sentence/length thereof.....

3
BarneyFrank 3 points ago +3 / -0

Yes I’m sure you know now, but self defense is a guilty plea. It’s an admission that you did the action but the action was justified self defense. Not guilty is a plea which says you didn’t do the action.

2
Kramit 2 points ago +2 / -0

Yup. Know now but can afford lawyers to do my bidding..

3
Kramit 3 points ago +3 / -0

I went pro se, I was 22 and did everything else correctly except that one part. I had a solid case I thought. I didn't come from money and had none at the time so I wasn't able to hire an attorney @ $6k. I made too much money though for a public defender (whatever they would have been worth)

0
Skepticuck 0 points ago +2 / -2

Ooof... that was a costly mistake. It sucks to beaten by technicality.

1
Kramit 1 point ago +1 / -0

No shit. Try representing yourself in court with an assault charge looming without being able to say "self defense" or anything akin. Not fun. Overall it's water under the bridge. Misdemeanor (which doesn't really hurt you much) and 30 days in jail... Not the end of the world

0
Skepticuck 0 points ago +2 / -2

Still sucks. Sorry that happened to you. Normally a judge will give a break to a kid who is representing himself. Glad it wasn't worse.

It's all good brother. Judge was actually pretty good to me all said and done in that trial. Prosecution wanted me in for a year or some shit. Later in life under wildly different scenarios that same Judge did me a huge solid, so maybe that was his way of squaring it up a bit. I think he could see my case was pretty damning to DA's office... but that stupid technicality got me

22
oldhankdonald 22 points ago +22 / -0

I believe the judge made a significant error in not allowing Bannon to use his defense. Bannon claimed executive privilege to the committee. That should trigger a negotiation between the committee, Bannon’s team, and Trump’s team. After all, if Bannon believed to have executive privilege, then he could not legally provide the information. That should have been what was litigated. Instead, he was prosecuted and not allowed that defense, as the judge made a judgement that he didn’t have executive privilege…. Without litigation. This should open the door for appeal.

12
conservativefrank 12 points ago +12 / -0

Trump, a week or two ago, waived the executive privilege for Bannon to testify. The committee didn't care, went on with this trial.

If the goal was to have Bannon testify, why not have him testify after Trump waived EP?

8
Skepticuck 8 points ago +10 / -2

His offer was conditioned on having his testimony broadcast live without a previous deposition. The committee, it seems was not interested in Bannon's conditions.

1
conservativefrank 1 point ago +2 / -1

Right. They didn't want the truth. They wanted to censor the truth.

-3
Skepticuck -3 points ago +1 / -4

Bannon is a performer. He was looking for a larger stage and audience. It's hard to blame the committee for not treating him differently than all of their other 1000+ witnesses.

1
conservativefrank 1 point ago +1 / -0

He was looking to not have his testimony cherry picked.

0
Skepticuck 0 points ago +1 / -1

You misunderstand how this works. A deposition is where you answer questions posed by the adversary party's attorney. It's not where you go to build your own case. You are answering their questions, not those from your own lawyer.

Skepticuck 2 points ago +6 / -4

Sorry professor? What law school do you teach at? None of the testimony sought was for the period when Bannon was an advisor to the President. Bannon has no more of a claim to executive privilege than you or I do.

4
preferredfault 4 points ago +4 / -0

Since he could not control what questions the fake committee asked, there's no way he couldn't exert executive privilege. We all know what they were really trying to do: Have him come up there, run a circus, ask him questions they know fall under executive privilege, have him not answer, and then charge him with contempt of congress for not answering anyways, and they'd make a whole public spectacle of it, potentially even have him arrested right there in the chambers. Their rino pets certainly wouldn't raise any alarm.

If I were him I would figure since they were going to do all that anyways, I might as well just not show up and take the contempt charge with my dignity intact than to be paraded about by a bunch of treasonous usurpers.

It doesn't matter that he wasn't an adviser at the time, asking him ANYTHING about his conversations with Trump is automatically executive privilege. He asserted it, they ignored the assertion. Scotus will have to deal with it now, and believe me, Biden's people want Scotus to rule in Bannon's favor, otherwise it opens a shit ton can of worms for Democrats in the future.

This is a paper conviction, plain and simple. It won't hold up on appeal.

1
Skepticuck 1 point ago +2 / -1

I'd love to put a large wager on your assertion that this conviction will be overturned on appeal. You're LARPing. You need to read up on executive privilege as it was litigated under Nixon.

Now that Trump has "revoked" his claim of privilege- Bannon is totally fucked. If he catches a subpoena from DoJ, he can be held as long as the grand jury is impaneled. That's 18 months. And if that doesn't loosen his tongue, they can impanel a new grand jury and continue to hold him. And that process can continue ad infinitum.

1
preferredfault 1 point ago +1 / -0

Trump waived it after. That's a huge distinction.

2
oldhankdonald 2 points ago +2 / -0

Perhaps litigation would have revealed Trump was not allowed to claim executive privilege. That’s not Bannon’s decision. The executive invokes privilege. Are you saying you know that Trump did not invoke EP? He certainly waived it just prior to the trial indicating some pretense of EP.

If the fake committee wanted testimony, they would have sought to attack the EP claim. Instead, they decided they’d rather prosecute on a process crime rather than obtain any information. So which was more important to the fake committee, legally attacking Bannon or getting “critical” information?

0
Skepticuck 0 points ago +2 / -2

The judge (that Trump appointed) ruled out the EP defense. Read up on executive privilege under Nixon. Lots of case law there. There has to be justification. Plus, the executive can only claim privilege while he is the executive.

That Trump "waived" it doesn't mean it ever existed. But now that has been "waived" Bannon doesn't even have a fig leaf to ward off another subpoena.

1
oldhankdonald 1 point ago +1 / -0

Trump was the executive during and prior to January 6. Are you claiming that once a president leaves office everything that was once covered under EP, no longer is?

Bannon nor Trump ever got to litigate whether or not EP was valid. He was charged before a judgement was made.

-3
Skepticuck -3 points ago +1 / -4

The current Executive has sole standing to exert privilege. Executive privilege exists to protect the OFFICE of the president- not an individual president. The current president waived that claim of privilege. Game, set, match.

1
Skepticuck 1 point ago +5 / -4

I doubt he will get the max- that'd look retaliatory. He'll probably get a year though. His bigger problem is that the subpoena is still out there. And if he still refuses he risks becoming a repeat offender. Worse yet, if DoJ gets involved and subpoenas him and he refuses to testify before a grand jury they can keep him locked up until the grand jury is dismissed. And when a new one is impaneled, they can do it again.

I'll pass on starting a civil war to vindicate him, thanks anyway.

ChicoDusty 1 point ago +1 / -0

but all of that still doesn't warrant what is being done to him by the state. what's your deal bud?

0
Skepticuck 0 points ago +2 / -2

Let's not forget this shitbag was pardoned for his grifting at "We Build The Wall" where he stole $1 million while ostensibly raising private funds to build Trumps border wall. Fuck him.... never mind, he's headed to jail. Interestingly, the statute specifically reads, "jail"- not prison. So Bannon could end up doing his time at the DC City Jail instead of Club Fed. That is one of the worst shitholes on the planet and Bannon will certainly get his hole stretched or shanked (maybe both). That place is a 24/7 BLM meeting. The only way he can get out of general population is to ask for protective custody and bunk with the diddlers and snitches. People will be jerking off in his food and wiping their assholes with his toothbrush.

MasterVader2U 0 points ago +1 / -1

It's not about Bannon my man. Relax yer tits. It's about openly both denying fair trial and imprisoning anyone of influence who openly supports Trump.

-1
SandraBrownIsDone -1 points ago +2 / -3

Sorry, this jackass boils my blood. Fuck this Hollywood producer rich boy who dresses like a slob to pretend to be grounded or whatever while he shakes down everyone he can for his on gain. I’m glad someone got him on something. There, I said it.

1
Hussar 1 point ago +1 / -0

I'd ask whether anti-MAGA clowns like Kinzinger, Cheney, or Pelosi also make your blood boil, but I can already see that you haven't even bothered to mention them once.

Odd.

25
MythArcana 25 points ago +26 / -1

But yet it's perfectly okay for democrats to lie to Congress every time they give testimony. Got it. Yeah, this whole thing was a trap, that's why you don't go in there.

7
cbone87 7 points ago +7 / -0

...Without actually doing an insurrection

25
PhantomShield72 25 points ago +25 / -0

Who ISN'T guilty of Contempt of Congress?

4
onomatopoeia 4 points ago +4 / -0

Shouldn't there be a thing called 'Contempt for The People'? Same idea for term limits. The People and States. Should be allowed to motion restrictions on certain actions and decrees or legislative bills or whatever bull-fucking-shit these fucking faggots call it. If Congress is found in Contempt of the People by some metric TBD then they ALL get replaced in a special election right then right there. The Founders of this country were almost clairvoyant but if they Back to the Futured their asses here now they would say 'fucking were is my musket!'

3
Mathelm 3 points ago +3 / -0

That's what the Senate is supposed to be,
Need to get rid of that 17th amendment.
It's destroyed the Balance of Power.

2
ParticleCannon 2 points ago +2 / -0

We supposedly already have that. Marbury v Madison.

18
Cuz99 18 points ago +18 / -0

I am Jack's complete lack of surprise

16
Skogin 16 points ago +16 / -0

Appeal it is then.

14
Cyer6 14 points ago +14 / -0

Now he'll drive more attention to his message and in some ways even become a political martyr. It'll be interesting what the sentencing will be.

13
Block_Helen 13 points ago +15 / -2

Good job Bannon for standing strong.

They wouldn't go after him if they weren't afraid of him. And of us.

4
Donger-Lord2 4 points ago +5 / -1

They are extremely afraid, trembling at the thought of another January 6th but with “other” items.

-1
Athena86 -1 points ago +2 / -3

LMAO

-1
covok48 -1 points ago +1 / -2

Go crawl back from under your hole. If they were afraid they wouldn’t be doing this.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +2 / -1

True that they got away with all of that. But why try to silence him then? Why would they even bother if they have all that power? To make an example, I guess, that they can point to when they campaign. But if they're that powerful, again, they don't need examples and they don't need to campaign.

It stands to reason that they want him silenced and they want us silenced, so they must see him as a threat somehow.

-1
covok48 -1 points ago +1 / -2

To tie up loose ends, tard.

1
Block_Helen 1 point ago +1 / -0

Because he goes to jail for a couple of years? How does that tie up anything?

What it does is silence him for the rest of the election cycle. That's the goal.

-4
covok48 -4 points ago +1 / -5

He didn’t stand strong for shit.

11
fluffykitten 11 points ago +11 / -0

Can't mention 1st Amendment in court, and I'm sure the jury was instructed to determine if he showed up for the subpoena or not, not whether J6 Clown Court had any authority to issue a subpoena or if they're even considered as "Congress". Check YES for if he showed up (not guilty) or NO if he didn't (GUILTY). No-win scenario.

What about building 7?

2
Donger-Lord2 2 points ago +2 / -0

Google? What’s that?

9
NvJohansson 9 points ago +9 / -0

Eric Holder has joined the chat.

9
Nunya__Biznus 9 points ago +9 / -0

I simply don't understand why conservatives just don't show up, sit down, and say:

"Per the Lois Lerner precedent, I am going to issue a brief statement, they invoke my 5th amendment privileges, and then you can all fuck right off."

-1
covok48 -1 points ago +1 / -2

Because they’re grifters.

8
JackLemon 8 points ago +9 / -1

Remember when Sessions deliberately buried the documents exposing Holder and then let the statute of limitations expire on his case as well as Brennan's? He then let Lois Lerner walk with a full government pension and failed to prosecute any of the coup plotters in the FBI? I do. I also remember the QTards trying to defend the seditious worm and proclaiming we must trust Sessions and TrUSt tHe pLaN. What fools, what an obvious psy-ops.

8
HadrianTheGreat 8 points ago +8 / -0

Congress is nothing but a bunch of useless faggots.

8
grassshrimp 8 points ago +8 / -0

Unpopular take - 30 days in jail will likely fire up the MAGA crowd bigly in time for the mid-terms.

Bannon would happily do a month in order to advance MAGA. POTUS did years in his own type of fake news purgatory.

Let Bannon be the martyr that he intends to be.

0
covok48 0 points ago +1 / -1

I agree, but what about 2 years?

8
AwwwfulTruth 8 points ago +8 / -0

Will he get the same sentence as Eric Holder?

7
BehindAnonymity 7 points ago +7 / -0

Here's my copium.

Bannon wanted to go down for this so that, when we take over the House, they can push for the same with anyone who refuses to cooperate. So, he's letting himself become an important precedent that breaks the previous path of ignoring those refusing to cooperate.

7
Plsdontfireme 7 points ago +7 / -0

How we burned in the camps.

7
cantrememberpassword 7 points ago +7 / -0

After watching 50+ episodes of Court Cam, all the "contempt of court" charges usually end up serving 0 - 5 days. Even the ones that get a full year of contempt.

4
ProudKoreanAmerican 4 points ago +4 / -0

They're not going to do that with Bannon. They want him to suffer. If they could get away with it, they'd throw him in jail for 30 years.

2
Herefordamemesss 2 points ago +2 / -0

This is contempt of Congress.

Completely different crime, in a federal court not a state court.

0
covok48 0 points ago +1 / -1

That’s for random nobodies. Trump supporters get MAXIMUM SENTENCE plus some extra for good measure.

7
NoComment 7 points ago +7 / -0

Our so called Congress is contemptible.

7
jimmyfoxhound 7 points ago +7 / -0

Nothing says America more than an executive body that can arbitrarily rule someone they deem their enemy in 'contempt' and send them to jail. One of the many reasons I just don't wear my patriotic stuff anymore. This country is becoming incredibly evil.

1
SandraBrownIsDone 1 point ago +2 / -1

Let's be clear, it was a court of law that rendered the decision, not the executive. And apparently a Trump-appointed judge that dropped the hammer.

7
Redpill-notCommieRed 7 points ago +7 / -0

This pisses me off so much. Democrats walk away with no charges and the DOJ ignoring all FBI, IRS, contempt for years and all of a sudden Bannon needs to be made an example of? DC jurors suck. Congress sucks and the American people all hold contempt of Congress.

6
Ullyr_Atreides 6 points ago +6 / -0

I have utter hatred and contempt for Congress.

6
KAGGIN 6 points ago +6 / -0

Republicans better do the same after midterms

4
ProudKoreanAmerican 4 points ago +4 / -0

Republicans can take action NOW.

Start prosecuting every corrupt Democrat with state laws. Go after their families. Treat them like they've treated us for the last decade.

2
KAGGIN 2 points ago +2 / -0

Agree but people would rather circle jerk a tweet

2
victory2024 2 points ago +2 / -0

Biden still would control the DOJ who wouldn't bring an actual case even if a GOP Congress made a contempt referral. (why Holder was never prosecuted) And even if they did, a DC jury would never convict a fellow traveller.

2
KAGGIN 2 points ago +2 / -0

There you go. MTG and Repubs need to impeach Garland.

2
logan34 2 points ago +2 / -0

LMAO they will write a sternly worded letter

6
Skywise 6 points ago +6 / -0

And Eric Holder was never even tried for his contempt charge.

6
slimcoat 6 points ago +6 / -0

I find Congress guilty of contempt of America.

6

5
South_Florida_Guy 5 points ago +5 / -0

What a bunch of banana fucking republic clown world bullshit

5

What are they gonna do?

Probably 150 million Patriots have Contempt for Congress.

Come and take us you Fukkin commies

2
TOPDAWG23 2 points ago +2 / -0

Well the proved on Jan 6 they can. Don't pretend anyone is going to do anything.

5
NoCoupForYou 5 points ago +5 / -0

Bannon is also guilty of being BASED, and returning to his job hours after being convicted.

5
T-Bear 5 points ago +5 / -0

Oh, surprise, surprise on that one.

Another process crime.

Of course Bannon held Congress in contempt - they are a most contemptible lot. He simply gave them in return what they had earned.

5
NotAGlowy 5 points ago +6 / -1

DC is NOT safe

4
wantstogomoon 4 points ago +4 / -0

FASTEST I ever seen congress work in 100 years.

If you oppose them and the kangaroo court system they hang you with no trial or defense submitted.

4
FuckReddit4545 4 points ago +4 / -0

Vote harder

3
Alphahorizon 3 points ago +3 / -0

Amen

4
Shockthemonkey 4 points ago +4 / -0

Good for Bannon. He would not participate in a kangaroo court and give them the optics of legitimacy. this is the way and sooner or later they will be coming for us also. I rather do the time then take a knee to these communists. Bannon's popularity will grow with this stand and when history tells the tale he goes down as a winner.
