And they don't have money for clean water after all these years.

dataonly 50 points ago +50 / -0

Just thinkin' outside the box here....

Maybe give water bottles for junk guns?????

40
SirSeizureSalad 40 points ago +40 / -0

What if they weld all the barrels together with lead, then pipe water through the bought guns???

16
dataonly 16 points ago +17 / -1

LOL.

What is really funny about your statement and I suspect you know, is that lead solder cannot be used for any tubing that carries potable water.

Very subtle. Well played.

EvolutionIsFake 30 points ago +30 / -0

Part of an $850,000 Charles Stewart Mott Foundation grant will help pay for a gun buy-back program in Flint -- one that’s designed to take specific types of automatic weapons out of circulation.

So, it won't be accepting any guns, because no one will be turning in an automatic weapon....

17
dataonly 17 points ago +17 / -0

an automatic weapon....

Subtle. Well played.

Maybe it should be illegal for governments to accept money in exchange for doing things that were not through the vote of the people —- how is it different from bribery? If you can’t get the votes for a government to do something, and you are rich enough, you pay the government to do what you, not the voter, wants.

t-bone, a local gang member, showed up today to turn in his full auto ak47 with serial number filed off to help save the children

--headline that will never exist, ever

7
WokeYoke 7 points ago +7 / -0

Just thinking logically here. But if I turn my gun in for cash it's probably because I didn't plan on using it for anything. Therefore, not really taking a weapon out of a dangerous persons hands.

7
Dontstopbelieving 7 points ago +7 / -0

Broken rusty single shots that need $200 worth of repairs to get it back to $75 value. Yes please. Love the stories of folks turning in black water pipe crudely attached to a 2x4 and getting a gift card. Give them your junk and take our money back out of their hands.

5
Jack_NC 5 points ago +8 / -3

There's no need to be a pedant. You know darned well they meant fully semi-automatic.

2
BeefyBelisarius 2 points ago +2 / -0

Now if you really want to be pedantic, early semiautos were often called automatics, since they automatically loaded the next round and clocked the hammer for you after firing a round. Which is why so many pistol calibers end in ACP, short for "automatic Colt pistol".

5
Kelemor88 5 points ago +5 / -0

Not after going through the headache of a tax stamp

2
davidmode 2 points ago +2 / -0

EXACTLY xD

-1
BidensDog -1 points ago +2 / -3

Semi and fully is a specific type of automatic. It’s not a play on words

4
EvolutionIsFake 4 points ago +4 / -0

This depends on how you technically define "automatic weapon". The standard for "automatic weapon" is pull the trigger once, it automatically fires multiple times. "semi-automatic" is something totally separate.

This is not me making this up. This is how it's defined and been defined. Your and their corrupt redefinition is misleading at best.

-2
BidensDog -2 points ago +1 / -3

English is misleading? Why isn’t it semi-manual? I’m just saying the Flint gov isn’t trying to mislead you with the statement because the constitutional lawyers didn’t show up that day.

-3
BidensDog -3 points ago +1 / -4

“I need a conductor”… “What specific conductor?” “A Semi-Conductor”

You see how English works?

3
Trump2024 3 points ago +3 / -0

Welding, not soldering. Stainless steel welding rods or wire is used by pipefitters.

2

I saw obummer drink the water! It's safe!

=)

5
TrannysArentHuman 5 points ago +5 / -0

They should rip the pipes out of the house/public infrastructure and pass them off as guns, use funds for new pipes.

7
Jack_NC 7 points ago +7 / -0

If they're copper pipes, I'm surprised there are any left considering the speed & efficiency that meth addicts can strip a building and drag it to the local recycling center (a co-conspirator) along with a few "spare" catalytic converters.

But don't worry, this genius, Sheldon Neeley is on the case
and his wife (a cosmetologist) is now a MI representative. They'll have Flint, and all of Michigan fixed up in no time at all.

3
RecreationalNyquil 3 points ago +3 / -0

An enterprising gun shop in Michigan should start advertising their own gun buyback program. Someone who wanted to turn in their gun would def get more dough from a gun shop than a government buyback program.

4
BeefyBelisarius 4 points ago +4 / -0

Except a legit shop would run the serial numbers to see if they're stolen.

2
RecreationalNyquil 2 points ago +2 / -0

Im gonna start my own gun buyback program with hookers and cocaine

3
Filthy_MALE 3 points ago +3 / -0

Nah give them pipe guns. You can make quite a profit from a Home Depot visit and some research

12
okboomer59 12 points ago +12 / -0

poisoning their constituents with contaminated drinking water didn't kill enough people, so they are disarming all non-criminals to see if that finishes the job

6
cantrememberpassword 6 points ago +6 / -0

Obama proved how clean it was by taking the lightest sip from a glass of water that wasn't visibly poured from a tap in a Flint house.

2
Captain-D 2 points ago +2 / -0

Isn't there a video somewhere of them all side-eying him when he was on stage? Like they were visibly appalled at his egotistical ass.

6
JGknows 6 points ago +6 / -0

they were in-debt 8 million when the whole thing began and that's how it started, when an emergency financial manager was assigned to the city. The city bucked every decision the manager made including snyder's plan to build a pipeline to lake huron. Instead the city went with the cheaper option to use flint river water. Then obummer's epa guy fudged the numbers saying the flint river water was ok and in reality the acid in the water ate away the lead lining in pipes and that's what made people sick.

4
roadrunner0 4 points ago +4 / -0

Poor water processing also plays a big part.. Making the water neutral takes chlorine and lime/calcium along with a good quality agitation process then passing thru filtration and a carbon bed..

3
JGknows 3 points ago +3 / -0

They were on detroit water previously, which is part of why they were so badly in debt. Flint had a third option to go back to clean detroit city water pumped up to them. That meant expensive tho as detroit water dept is unionized and both the financial manager + the city of flint didn't like that idea. Ultimately after the emergency was declared and it started going on the federal tab flint got to go back on detroit water anyways and we're all paying for it.

4
roadrunner0 4 points ago +4 / -0

It is a sad thing and I know that if something can be done for 10 cents the government will find a way to make it cost $5.. We have a few cities out here in rural Northeast Ohio that have their own sewer and water treatment plants that do a good job of producing great water from wells but the cost to those people in town is staggering.. I have a well and septic system that uses solar power to pump the water thru a chlorine and filter system.. Initial cost was high around $6k but now water costs me 3 cents for every fifty gallons..

6
NOTWOKE 6 points ago +6 / -0

Maybe fatso Michael Moore can film a documentary on why it's smarter to buy lead shooters than remove lead pipes. Priorities

0

he's too busy buying up entire cities and controls most of ne mi where the chicago elites go to relax.

41
dataonly 41 points ago +42 / -1

Go buy a 2 x 4 and a black iron pipe from home depot or lowes.

Cut the pipe into 12" sections. Cut a j shape handle out of the 2 x 4 and mount it to the 2 x 4.

See if they will take it on buy back!

16

If they question it, just show them pictures of the gun used to kill Prime Minister Abe.

7
roadrunner0 7 points ago +7 / -0

You can easily make a single shot slap shotgun or zip gun if you wanted to for a bit of scavenging or a few dollars..

2
BeNotAfraid 2 points ago +3 / -1

Yep. Doesn't take much. That was the idea behind the FP-45 Liberator.

8
Hedonismbot 8 points ago +8 / -0

100 dollars for wood and pipe as article states.

No, it was 100 dollars for that guy’s shotgun.

2
chewsoap 2 points ago +2 / -0

I think you misread the article.

Minneapolis Police Pay $100 for Piece of Wood, Pipe During Gun Buyback

a man had been paid $100 in gift certificates for a makeshift shotgun at the event

The owner of this homemade shotgun received a $100 gift card

4
Hedonismbot 4 points ago +4 / -0

I was punning on the nature of what is a gun.

All guns are seemingly wood and pipe, or synthetic and pipe. Just fancy trigger mechanisms (small pipe) and optics (open pipe)

Acckkktually, now that I think about it, the whole world is pipe!

2
chewsoap 2 points ago +2 / -0

Oh I thought you were saying the article claimed it cost him that much to make it.

  1. Buy a bunch of cheap pistol bags/sleeves.

  2. Turn them in empty.

  3. Tell them they are your ghost guns.

  4. Profit

  5. Buy a new gun.

6

13
ChonkFingers 13 points ago +13 / -0

What is astonishing to me is how we watch these idiots implement these gun buyback programs and we don’t do anything… you know what we could do with just $850? Start a free gun give away program. Use the cash to buy guns and let people donate their old unused guns to the needy for a tax write off. That would be enough to give everyone a free ar15 everyone who wanted one and didn’t already own one in a small state. We talk a lot about how guns are great but why aren’t we doing anything to make sure everyone has access to them?

5
RootinTootin 5 points ago +5 / -0

Because we dont believe in taxing people and then giving some of the money back like these smug politicians do. All these programs are taxpayer funded and we know how retarded and wasteful the government is even versus the avg person

2
ChonkFingers 2 points ago +2 / -0

Then we can make it a non profit that takes guns & money to buy guns as donations? That’s how the leftists usually do it. The main reason leftist want these high taxes is because it forces the rich to donate to their non profits for the write offs. The point is the leftists put a lot of work into creating these programs and we just let it happen, we never have a response to this.

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +1 / -0

"we"

if the transition from police to abolishment means turning their budget into an arms give away then so be it.

10
myswedishfriend 10 points ago +10 / -0

It could be trouble to sell your guns to someone with a history of violence and abuse.

1
gb1787 1 point ago +1 / -0

Unless your initials are Eff Bee Eye.

10
JollyGoodFallow 10 points ago +10 / -0

Sell a piece of crap and put it towards a nice one.

4
MamaLlama4DJT2020 4 points ago +4 / -0

I think I read on another post that someone bought some crappy guns just to sell to the buyback and got a nice gun with the money.

3
sordfysh 3 points ago +3 / -0

You can buy like $150 shotguns. If it's $800 per gun, that's a HUGE profit.

9
RentedMule 9 points ago +9 / -0

So if we know gun buybacks do nothing to stem gun violence, then why waste the money? Makes you wonder; how much of the money goes to buying the guns, and how much ends up in the pockets of the local politicians?

8
TexasBrowncoat 8 points ago +8 / -0

I'd stand outside the buy-back facility with a stack of $100's and outbid them for the nicer guns."Hey granny! I'll give you $200 for your late husband's collectible rifle"

4
Light_HIV_Effect 4 points ago +4 / -0

Definitely what people do. I would too if my state was dumb enough to do that.

Or something

6
Baconb_breakfast 6 points ago +6 / -0

And....Flint will remain a city full of murders.

6
bringbackthe80s 6 points ago +6 / -0

There is no 'buy back'. The guns weren't purchased from these dip fucks in the first place.

gun buyback

It's 'civilian disarmament' or 'gun confiscation'. We shouldn't use their words.

4
RealHunterBiden 4 points ago +4 / -0

and very common for cops to steal the really good guns from these buybacks

4
MAGAMATT45 4 points ago +4 / -0

I would.

4
Coprolite 4 points ago +4 / -0

I knew a gunshop owner that dumped several junk guns that were not working and couldn't be repaired profitably into a buyback program. We're talking single shot rifles an shotguns, cheap zink alloy pistols.

2
HyperCarbs 2 points ago +2 / -0

cheap zink alloy pistols.

Kind of funny how those were $50 new in the box.

1
Coprolite 1 point ago +1 / -0

Same thing as now, a lot of pistols have plastic frames that have stamped steel inserts molded in them.

I'm sure the gun buy back will solve all of Flint's problems. After this it will be a booming metropolis that people flock to for the cultural enrichment. It will be the new vacation destination for families around the country.

3

Boy it's a good thing they don't have any other problems in Flint that need to be looked at.

3
Partagas 3 points ago +3 / -0

I guess they got that whole 'lead in the water' thing worked out if they have surplus cash for this.

1
MarxhatedJews 1 point ago +2 / -1

Lead reduces IQ in children. For adults who get poisoned, it harms organs and shortens lifespan. But it doesn't change IQ. That's the research I've read, anyway.

2
fskfsk 2 points ago +2 / -0

What some clever pedes were doing is 3d printing a gun for $50 and then selling it to the buyback for $200.

1
flashersenpai 1 point ago +1 / -0

$50 is over budget on a printed gun. A handgun like the Harlot can be printed for less than $5 in filament.

Hah,
they can almost make their own long guns:
☑ lead pipes for musket balls
☑ flint for the flint lock
☑ locks from the empty jail doors

2
HisShadowX 2 points ago +2 / -0

I’m not going to lie I have used gun buy back programs. I bought guns legally for 50 bucks each and used the gun by back to give me anywhere from 100 dollars or 500 dollars per gun which allowed me to buy a better gun and take the family out to dinner.

2
blueeyephoto 2 points ago +2 / -0

maybe Flint should worry about it's water first

2
