17
Brobold 17 points ago +18 / -1

Slavery doesn't even make sense to me. You could pay someone less for the same job without having to feed house and cloth them.

9
South_Florida_Guy 9 points ago +14 / -5

The people who did it were people of means, it didn't matter about all of that, it was about owning and controlling people, just like they want to do today. The entire infrastructure and society was set up for them that those things weren't factors (housing, feeding, clothing, etc.) it was inherent in how the system and their properties were set up to operate. Owning slaves were part of the social structure and status symbols, like owning any other luxury; the more you had and could manage to have, the more "points" you had among your peers.

8
Fine_Kentucky_Jenkum 8 points ago +9 / -1

not even close, my man.

7
80960KA 7 points ago +7 / -0

it didn't matter about all of that, it was about owning and controlling people

This is fucking retarded. It was about labor because mechanization didn't exist yet. Up until mechanization basically every culture had some kind of indentured servitude or slavery. Morality didn't kill slavery, technology did.

1
South_Florida_Guy 1 point ago +2 / -1

I'm saying the costs of keeping slaves didn't matter to them, of course it was more profitable than just hiring someone normally.

3
80960KA 3 points ago +3 / -0

No, you said it was some pop-psych power game, not just "we have them and they're cheaper TCO for unskilled labor than hirelings".

Once mechanization started taking hold the writing was on the wall for slavery, and you still see that pattern today with only primitive cultures that can't do technology still having slaves. Everyone else uses exploitative but libre labor force-amplified by machines because overall it's just a more flexible and efficient system.

If it actually was a power game, it would still be around in the developed world, not just the primitive world.

1
South_Florida_Guy 1 point ago +2 / -1

Is it not really though still around in the developed world? Just in disguise. But what I was saying to the guy before me that didn't matter was the incidental costs associated with it, that didn't matter and it was profitable AND about the power and control and social status.

3
80960KA 3 points ago +3 / -0

Is it not really though still around in the developed world?

Unless you consider the Arab world "developed", no.

Just in disguise.

Taxes are equally ancient, and distinct. Same for exploitative labor practices. They're not always pleasant, they're often awful, but they're not slavery and they have no conflict with a libre labor system where ultimately people can for the most part just walk away from an employer. Even contracts that are too personally binding usually don't hold up.

2
MAGAzineman 2 points ago +4 / -2

Slavery was quite profitable for the people who actually owned the slaves. It was arguably not profitable for society, as you lose out on the contributions these people can otherwise make to society.

13
JuliusEvola 13 points ago +13 / -0

Was profitable for the jews who owned the slave ships too.

They don't like when you nosetice that though

-5
MAGAzineman -5 points ago +2 / -7

Can you name some famous jews who ran slave ships? I have never heard this theory but am curious. And did they do this more so than other nationalities?

9
JuliusEvola 9 points ago +9 / -0

Read the Jewish onslaught by Dr Tony Martin. Everything is cited and sourced.

The Jews even fired Dr Martin after he exposed this one little historical factoid because Jews are communist Christ hating faggot pedophile criminals who rot every country they're welcomed in.

That's why they got banned in over 1,000 cities / countries throughout history.

Wake up normie. Break through your Jewish indoctrination already. Our country has been slowly going to shit for decades because that's when the Jews infiltrated the government & banks & press and turned America into a giant tax farm where even sacred holidays are nothing more than a consumer festival where Jew banks profit from credit card debt and a de-Christianization of the public (who's now oblivious to the fact our freedom comes from Christ)

All of the food and most of the clothing was produced on the plantation with slave labor. Plantations we're big farms. They raised livestock, fruit, veggies etc right alongside their other crops. Slaves tended the food production for the other slaves. It was pretty cheap.

2
Brobold 2 points ago +2 / -0

Today I learned something. Makes sense; the people who could afford a lot of slaves had a lot of land for them to live off of.

Iceland is a beautiful place, especially during the summer. The problem is it is very expensive. At the time I visited (a few years ago) Reykjavik, Iceland was named the most expensive city in the world (replacing Tokyo). Virtually everything needs to be shipped in via boat. An apple cost $3 each. A 12 pack of beer was over $30!

6
Chad_Dudebroski 6 points ago +6 / -0

A 12 pack of whiteclaw costs $22 here and an apple is about $2.

Id pay another $1 an apple. My taxes wont be supporting obselete farm equipment either and probably going to something useful

3
imnotdeadyet 3 points ago +3 / -0

This was several years ago (before Bidenflation). I would love to live in Iceland in the summer. My favorite place is Vik southern side of the island. It is close to the glacier, Black Beach and the Skógafoss Waterfall.

can I take all my guns? no? then fuck it, ain't going. and icelandic girls speak in a weird lilt anyway, which I guarantee will get on your nerves within 30 minutes

3
MAGAzineman 3 points ago +5 / -2

You realize that even if you could take all your guns, you would be the minority there? Why do you want to mess up their homogeneic icelandic society with your american self?

Why? Because America, motherfuckers!

People leave their babies unattended outside dining places and stores there to sleep in the breeze. Super safe there, even the leaders don't have guards with them.

I lived in Reykjavik for two years and never once saw this. Yeah sure, in the towns that have a population of 40 that still live a nomadic lifestyle. Never once seen it in Reykjavik (which houses a third of the population.)

The thing you have to understand about Iceland is that anything that comes out of the country in English is pure propaganda. Their biggest industry is tourism. You will find more diverse voices if you can actually read/understand their goofy language and read those papers.

5
FrozenEagle 5 points ago +5 / -0

"The thing you have to understand about Iceland is that anything that comes out of the country in English is pure propaganda. Their biggest industry is tourism. You will find more diverse voices if you can actually read/understand their goofy language and read those papers."

Correct, but you need to talk to the actual people in the country to get an accurate image.

4
TPMJB 4 points ago +4 / -0

Yeah, I mean I lived there for 2 years. I talked to many. Very few wanted to speak of the actual problems. Heroin needles on playgrounds at schools was common. There were a few addiction clinics in Reykjavik alone, which only houses about 180K people.

Considering that "diversity" means "no white people and full privilege and immunity for all non-whites," it's no surprise that life is practically utopian when bolshevik "diversity" is blocked/prevented.

He said it was beautiful... and every teen age girl is pregnant.
