Either that, or a massive attention whore. "Look at how special I am! I can talk to dead people! Except I won't talk to your dead relatives, because reasons."
This is the last question I will answer for you because you're a hostile individual.
What makes you think they are at anyone's beck and call like some kind of a carnival side show? They come when they want . They leave when they want. They talk about what they want to talk about.
To be perfectly honest with you, I don't believe they have any clue what one another is doing on the other side either. I came to this conclusion when I had two deceased cousins (one from each side of the family) both show up on the same night within a few minutes of one another.
It was quite weird. I ended up introducing them to one another. They discovered a mutual interest in baseball and walked off together discussing major league players of the past. Now if that's not weird, I don't know what is! I never did find out what either of them actually wanted because they were so absorbed talking to one another they forgot I was there.
So yeah, they have their own interests which, may or may not line up with yours.
Somehow, I can't imagine either of these two guys caring about "cures" for major diseases. They don't change after death. They are who they are. If you want to talk cures, find a dead research scientist.
As for Lotto numbers, if they couldn't win in life, do you think they are luckier after they die? They don't become omnipotent!

He told me a dead dude called out a name once in his house.
HOW COME THE DEAD NEVER HAVE USEFUL INFORMATION LIKE LOTTERY NUMBERS OR THE CURE TO CANCER?

You are like that Reddit question "name the most useless power a super hero could have"
Did I say it was useful?
I said it is rare, rare, rare, when they tell you something about your own life that you might need to know.
But I am not afraid to die because I know there is an afterlife. So, there's that.
