But what happens if say, enough of a majority of Electors, back out of sponsoring Joe Biden for the President. Does he just lose the office? Does his entire staff just be out of a job, or does our election system work off a "No take back" kind of thing? Where seeing electors back out, is more of a spiritual thing, as opposed to it having kind of actual power?
I think maybe we might see a Constitutional crisis on our hands if this was to happen, something that might even need a new amendment to our constitution to avoid in the future.
electors are selected by and consist of high-ranking insider party officials. the situation you propose would never happen. these are all true believers who have spent careers toeing the party line and who, in most states, are bound by law to have their EC vote reflect the state's popular vote. may as well ponder unicorns and free healthcare. so fantastical and ignorant of process it's not even worth thinking about. read more about how presidential elections work in the US before theorizing further.
