Per usual the Dems games of smoke and mirrors will overshadow a lot of what was good about crypto lobbying efforts OUTSIDE OF SAM.
As someone in this industry who personally knows Sam.. I'd avoid looping all of Sam's contributions as being necessarily bad. However, I'd assume Sam is FULLY BAD. This is because Sam had to balance working with the good guys or put up an illusion of doing so in order to not get eventually exposed and nuked (which did eventually happen.. we'd had enough).
An example: he donated to GMI PAC and tried to actively strong arm it even when it was clear via donation that he wouldn't have say into the direction of the capital. Some of the leaders of that actively were calling him out long before this happened. A large part of what blew this open was a crypto libertarian named Erik Vorhees calling him out for essentially trying to regulate decentralized finance, ensure we couldn't operate front ends as an industry, FTX would be one of the only regulated players, & the decentralized players are the ones who likely get fleeced here when their systems never broke. A Chinese businessman CZ from Binance found this out and pulled the plug on it all or Sam very well may have gotten away with it.
Sadly crypto can't be seen as partisan for obvious reasons. However, Sam acted like a bastion for what was good for crypto and used many insider funds to donate to things like ranked choice voting in Seattle.

A major plus point for crypto was helping the Canadian truckers. What we thought was a plus point was citizens being able to direct capital to Ukraine but obviously Sam fucked that up.
The depth of corruption by politicians & Sam's media connections, his parents, his friends parents, & his connections to regulators is well documented. It's an absolute shame what happened.
I can't help but think that Sam was a Federal plant from early on to come in and screw up our industry we worked so hard to build. The banks saw it as a real threat and they tried to send the adults in. It was typical moral superiority to our way of life.
Crypto started out as a LIBERTARIAN EFFORT to separate MONEY FROM POLITICS. Sam destroyed any chance of that ever happening. I could probably write a book about this but let's just say the rabbit hole goes deep and the true believers in the industry will be left holding the bag, the need to comply to harsh and sometimes impossible regulations, & will ultimately be the biggest losers here.
All when FTX wasn't a crypto exchange that ran on decentralized networks. It was a centralized exchange where they controlled your money and did absolutely terrifying things with it.

I had wondered, during this cycle, how the Dems were funding their party. Money is essential to their ballot harvesting scams.. and during the 2020 cycle they used BLM to extort millions from corporate America to fund their schemes.
I had thought the Roe v Wade leak was timed to allow them to do a similar corporate shakedown scam this cycle, but it never materialized. What i did see occurring was billions of dollars marching off to Ukraine, with very little resistance from either party.
Now we know why.. a good portion of that money was being laundered back into the campaigns of the Democrats and RINOs, who supported it. Fucking traitors....

At first I thought this FTX story goal was to destroy crypto and promote central banks. The banks are attacking crypto right now and trying to push their IMF issued social credit digital money. But this FTX fiasco is not damaging other cryptos as much as I thought and all digital money are getting associated with this including the IMF digital currency.
