Close. They chose her because if she gets criticized they can hit back with a bunch of “ists,” and “phobics.”

That way if say a white male Christian criticizes her, it’s obviously because he’s a sexist, racist homophobe.

They should be more active in their union but the irony is they're so busy that they might not have time to be... I don't have much sympathy for those guys (last point, I heard they wanted more flex time, many rail union employees unable to make doctor's appt) but I haven't heard much about the situation in awhile.

But yeah, being apart of a scummy union who uses its war chest (most unions) for politics is faggotry, so...

The rail workers should just quit. They're not gonna get anyone to scab for them in the current employment climate where everyone expects to work from home and wine on tap when they do bother to show up.

This right here, every company is begging people to come to work and there is simply not enough people willing to actually get off their couches and go to work... Fast food joints around me are now paying $20/hr and they can't even get 16 year olds interested in showing up and doing the work... Most of the railway jobs are skilled or actual physical labor, no way they find enough scab workers to keep things running smoothly in today's job market...

A lot of places are playing catch up. The smart companies boosted wages a year and a half ago to keep production going.

They were already that high coming out of COVID lockdowns, and here they are still understaffed nearly 2 years later...

They opened a new Popeyes chicken in the next town over earlier this year, the building was done and sat vacant for over 3 months with a sign in the door saying sorry we can't open because we don't have enough employees, apply here...

And it's not just low paying jobs, Walgreens and CVS in my area can't even get a pharmacists to work, one Walgreens in my area entirely gave up and shut its pharmacy until futher notice, the other two are sharing pharmacist and are only open on certain days for limited hours... And all the pharmacies are constantly out of stock anyway on popular drugs due to a nationwide shortage...

It's not a pay problem, people just don't want to work... Sorry but I doubt the railways could hire enough scabs to get operations back if the employees quit or simply stopped showing up...

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– sleepinggiant 1 point 62 days ago +1 / -0

Because they dont pay more than starting your own shit. I have a cousin that started a tshirt business...her take home is 60k...its not an amazing business, but she works from home, owns everything, the business is growing and she has plans to expand it. Why would she go back to corporate america?

What happened during covid is that the entire world thought about quality of life.....the satisfying career narrative has been seen for what it is....bullshit. what matters is the money, who cares how you get it.

▲ 1 ▼
– Allister 1 point 62 days ago +1 / -0

So you are saying your sister (even if she was qualified) won't be applying to be a railroad scab, if the railroad workers were to quit or strike? That is my point, there aren't enough people qualified and willing to fill those positions, they either don't want to get off their couches and go to work or they are not interested in working at all... Your sister sounds like the one that isn't willing to leave her house and rejoin the traditional workforce, thus in line with what I said that there would not be enough scabs to fill the positions if they walked away... Keep in mind the biggest union that is holding out is the repair guys, not exactly an unskilled job, you certainly don't want the 18 year old ASE certified tire changer at Walmart to be changing the wheelsets on a train without a lot more training...

I know everyone here likes to shit on unions, but I'm in a right to work state and the union has been nothing but good to me. So much so that when I started my company I only hire union and I'm still a participating member even though I have no obligation to, I pay my guys double what non union techs make because my guys went through the union trade school and have a much higher skill level than someone who went to a non-union trade school or no trade school at all. That being said I would say maybe one in 10 Union members are Democrat here in the south, if that, and 10 out of 10 will tell you Biden is a retard.

I remember when Trump was a mediator in some auto union deals, but he couldn't force either party to accept terms. He could only encourage the auto makers with powers that reside in the executive branch, like tariffs. That's why I'm confused about Biden thinking he can actually make the deals and enforce terms.

The air traffic controller strike was the closest equivalent I could think of. The difference then, was the ATCs are actually government employees so Reagan had full authority to negotiate and/or fire them.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 1 ▼
– DippedBeef 1 point 63 days ago +1 / -0

Lookup the Railway Labor Act. Long story short, it’s one of the few, if not only industries so heavily regulated by the government, that they literally need the governments permission to strike (sort of), and if all terms are met for a strike, the government can force a contract down their throats and get them back to work.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– Smurfection 4 points 63 days ago +5 / -1

Honestly, I'm glad supply lines won't be further disrupted. I'm sorry the union workers didn't get sick time in their negotiated package.

My take away from this is that:

  1. Labor Unions don't have the clout they once did in the Democrat Party unless they're Federal Government Employee labor unions or teacher's unions.

  2. Biden won't keep promises to constituents that he thinks are expendable.

  3. Democrats aren't serious about paid time off or sick leave for families.

It should be noted that Nancy Pelosi is cooperating with the Biden Administration in this so any and all Democrats that vote for this legislation are voting against a historically Democrat and progressive labor union. Of course, that's not going to stop that union from giving money almost exclusively to Democrats nor will their members vote for Republicans.

The way it’s being reported in my local Democrat media, I don’t think there will be a strike. Started ramping it up to get people worked up, now sounding like Joe is going to save the day.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– Smurfection 2 points 63 days ago +2 / -0

That's my point. The unions lost. Labor unions will never recover from this. Federal Government Employee unions, teacher's unions and local/state government unions will be the only unions in ten years. The Democrats sold all the laborers out, Their only hope for surviving now is Trump winning the presidency but I'm quite sure they don't see that,

Correct i am. It’s a bit different amongst all the unions and different crafts governed under those unions. It has to do with some of the things u mentioned plus a number of other things. For example, a train crew is 3 ppl. Potatus supports reducing it to a 2 man crew which happens sometimes but a 3rd is always added bc 3 are really needed. Ive heard ppl refer to potatus as Amtrak Joe bc he used to ride Amtrak. For the record i am NOTTTT Amtrak but know a bunch of Amtrakers. They haaaaattteeeeeee the pedophile vegetable. The unions if pushed hard enough will strike. This could be very harmful to getting things like crops and other necessities across America which one might say………..could be part of the faggot lefts plan to starve us out or reduce population, let that sink in fren and stay safe🫡

People haven't paid attention to the union/Democrat party relationship for at least 20 years. While union leadership always is pro-Democrat, the fact is that the Democrat Party abandoned helping union employees long ago. What, you say? No way, you say? Yup! The Democrats got so self-absorbed with their own importance, they assumed that all their past support of unions had endeared them forever with all union folks, just like they did with Blacks. And so, also sane as Blacks, they abandoned doing anything positive for either group. Obama blatantly stabbed unions in the back with Obama Care regulations, initially telling unions that their represented employees with the cushy negotiated health plans would not be required to join Obama's health fiasco nor pay the mandated extra taxes on employer provided health insurance that all non-union employees would have to pay. Obama got their support, passed his health plan, then revealed he had refused to give unions the break. That stab in the back would cost each union employee about $7000 a year. The unions complained, they pleaded, they reminded Obama of his promise & the first Black President turned his back to them. Why not? Unions always had voted for Democrats, why would they change? If Trump hadn't come in & blew Obama Care apart, those union employees, as well as every American with an employer plan, would have been forcibly raped by the most crooked political party to ever exist in America.

Don't ever make the mistake & think rank & file union members will always be loyal to Democrats. They loved Trump because Trump cared for blue-collar workers - a first for a Republican President. And most union workers, just not teachers, will support other Republicans if those politicians help them out. I've been in unions my entire life. Most union workers are patriotic & most are smart enough to not vote the way their union boss tells them. A Republican candidate for President can pull huge numbers of union voters away from the Democrats if he/she just tries to help them & their families out. Trump did & won the first time - actually the 2nd time, too. McCarthy & McConnell are too stupid, or crooked, to ever cater to union employees or minorities. Don't keep doing the same thing every 4 years with the same tired Republican talking points. Make allies. Help more people. Get more votes. Turn as many Americans against the Democrats as you possibly can.

Yep. He'd like the Ukraine aid package to start with a big ZERO as well!

Why even bother with the charade? Not like they can be held accountable for anything.

Didn't the rail unions endorse Sleepy Joe?

Isn't this what they wanted, all along?

…none of [tentative agreements offered by the Biden Administration] contain any sick time whatsoever.

Hard to feel sorry for Unions that have been behind this Pedo to get him elected, again and again. But really, it's just the workers getting fucked, little don't people matter. Union bosses will have a bigh laugh over this over Christmas.

When you’ve mastered the art of stealing elections, you don’t have to be nice to anyone. Wait until you see what Mr. “you ain’t black” does to black families, Hispanics, Jews, big business, big tech, etc. It’s not going to be pretty.
