Well you're not thinking about it. There is no magical "release" button. Everything has to be prepared and presented. Twitter is not going to just dump a .zip folder with random files for people to go through.
All this "play up" is just Elon wanting to release it immediately, but he can't because it's not ready.
Dude way back Elon said he will get rid of the bots or die trying. He's just NOW starting to remove a large swath of them. That's how long it took to get it ready. There was no magic "delete the bots" button.
Elon has the source code and all internal logs, memos, policies, etc. There is no doubt that he has this information, unlike the other termites who came out of the woodwork claiming nonsense.
All that information takes time to compile in a meaningful way. He's letting the public know he's working on it. This is important because the public knows he has this information and needs to be assured that he's going to give it to us instead of just filing it away somewhere never to see the light of day.
He needs to start releasing them, and stop talking about it.
Then people will stop 'dooming', as you put it.
We've seen this over and over. Someone stands up, "we've got the goods", then nothing happens.
The fact that he's trying to play it up, get some word of mouth going, makes me doubt it.

You're right. It'll take at least 2 weeks to prepare all the evidence.

Elon has accomplished much these past 2 weeks and I am looking forward to what he accomplishes in the next 2 weeks.
Didn't say dooming.
