25
Libertas_Vel_Mors 25 points ago +26 / -1

LOL - he could have, and I doubt that Apple would remove Twitter even after that.

The reason why is simple: Android. Apple has to compete with it, and unless Goog drops Twitter from its Play Store, Apple damned sure won't.

(and if they both remove it, that means collusion, which is a massive SEC no-no, something they'd get nailed for eventually, but nailed nonetheless.)

43
bidensmissingbrain 43 points ago +44 / -1

They didn't nail them for the removal of Gab.

13
GiantSchnauzer 13 points ago +18 / -5

No body gives a shit about gab. That's why.

16
sandinyourteeth 16 points ago +16 / -0

That's fucked up because gab has been de-banked, discriminated against. The "hate crime" laws have been massaged in real good now. Forward march, subjects.

7
GiantSchnauzer 7 points ago +8 / -1

I think the problem is that gabs values are not inline with internet society in anyway.

The reason that matters is that the market segment it's going to capture is by and large, conservative men over 35. Guess who doesn't social media?

While there are some that will use gab from that demographic, there are very few. What that leaves is women and young men. Guess who (for the most part) will trade their rights for some attention? Yeah...

Gabs in a tough time slot friend.

2
SquiggyMcPepe 2 points ago +3 / -1

Plus human nature tends to gravitate the masses towards one or two sources of whatever it is that amuses them or makes something they do easier. There are far too many social media outlets as it is and to get anyone to use them means they have a gimmick. Now that twitter is allowing free speech that takes the gimmick away from many of the new replacements. This is why Trump will stay on TS because he is ~their~ gimmick. Though I think that in the end when the 2024 campaign ramps up he will come back as it would be stupid to not use it.

6
Meatsuit 6 points ago +6 / -0

He's rich. He says free speech is worth something to him. Twitter is trending in the right direction.

I'd like to see him publish a bit of the Twitter Papers soon.

The censoring of the DNC and Podesta Wikileaks is a big deal.

He could start by following up on the Michael Brown "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" farce in Ferguson in 2015 .

I bet a bunch of accounts got deleted for posting the "Burn This Bitch Down" video the night the grand jury evidence showing Brown attacked the cop finally came out.

There will be big value if Twitter reveals the details behind the heinous censorship.

3
Barbs 3 points ago +3 / -0

He could start by following up on the Michael Brown "Hands Up, Don't Shoot" farce in Ferguson in 2015 .

He’s actually commented directly on this issue. He said that Obama’s DOJ cleared the cop of all wrongdoing, and that it was a proven hoax, yet it’s still one of the main drivers of the division in society today because the media perpetuates the bullshit.

He may not be perfect, and I’m cautiously optimistic, but this timeline sure has gotten a lot more fun the past few weeks with Elon on the offensive.

5
NomadicKrow2 5 points ago +5 / -0

The only other way to get such a massively used tool out of the hands of evil democrats was to blow it up. We already established that you and I are too pussy to do it. I don't see you doing anything else.

3
SanePerson 3 points ago +3 / -0

He said making money isn't his motivation. Here's part of his statement:

"In the relentless pursuit of clicks, much of traditional media has fueled and catered to those polarized extremes, as they believe that is what brings in the money, but, in doing so, the opportunity for dialogue is lost. That is why I bought Twitter. I didn’t do it because it would be easy. I didn’t do it to help make more money. I did try to help humanity, whom I love. And I do so with humility, recognizing that failure in pursuing this goal, despite our best efforts, is a very real possibility."

2
rex888 2 points ago +3 / -1

He will double his money because he is a born winner and a savvy businessman just like Trump. The Art of the Deal is one of Elon's favorite books so he has learned a lot from Trump. They are both high IQ stable geniuses

1
ceremony_ 1 point ago +2 / -1

Yes, no question, no question at all that he massively overpaid.

I do think Elon is being authentic.

The question is, can Elon keep Twitter relevant while ejecting Leftards, and at the same time attracting Conservatives?

For the past five years, there have been a number of Conservative alternatives popping up.

Can Elon succeed in drawing those users back to Twitter?

Because if not, then all this opening up would have been for naught from a business point of view.

5
MasklessMarvel 5 points ago +5 / -0

So if people arent actually in the process of officially running for office, he might some day u never know, that means you dont have to trust them? wat da. you are not gambling anything if you choose to use twitter

it is not the same with politicians

I'd like to thank you for causing the downfall of the west over the last 70 years. Thank you

2
tetelestai 2 points ago +2 / -0

The decline of western civilisation... I will have to dig up my source on the metrics and data that show the decline roughly began in 1963 I believe it rings true.

That was the year the bible was basically banned in schools.

It wasn’t movies or iPads.

2

I don’t tend to agree but thank you for your input. I put it as the SCOTUS decision - Abington School District v. Schempp, 374 U.S. 203 (1963). The nation turned its back on God after he gave us everything. I see this as the turning point.

Because you are literally funding our demise.

When coke sends internal emails saying be less white, when you buy coke, you're saying you're on board with the anti white agenda. How is that not apparent to you? Are you functionally retarded?

It's the same with Nike or Adidas or any other big name apparel brands. You can't be against slavery, and own a pair of Nikes, they are made from Uyghur slaves.

3
TheThreeSeashells 3 points ago +3 / -0

These people who refuse to give up their toys are why we keep losing ground. It's easy not to own Apple products. I own zero and have NEVER owned one. It's easy not to buy Coke products, or Gillette products, or Goodyear products, or Oreos, or subscribe to Disney+ or Netflix or Hulu. But there's too many people on our side that find it's easier to explain away why they keep giving their hard earned money to those companies (among the many others) than to give them up.

2
BunnyPicnic 2 points ago +4 / -2

I try to tell people these companies hate them, but they don't see it yet. I didn't see it until pretty recently, around halfway through Trump's term. But once you see it, my God, how did I ever not know?

Look at what the NFL started as, and what it is today. Long gone are the days of a player making a play, and running back to the huddle. Barry Sanders entire career is a highlight reel, yet I don't recall him ever dancing or pointing to his name or chest. Hand the ball to the ref and let's get on with the game.

I was born in 90, but did the NFL of the 70s and 80s take 3.5 hours to play a game? Advertising is another thing I can't stand about the modern world. Listening to rural Kansas radio growing up, I swear they actually played more music than commercials. Now you get one song and then 28 covid vaccine commercials. It's gay.

The government saved Tesla and turned him into the richest man on Earth.

He admits it and simply took advantage of it to further his goal of Mars being a colony.

He could be better more based etc but he could also be a whole lot worse as well.

He is still a retarded Dem at heart.

8
Barbs 8 points ago +8 / -0

The subsidies helped, but Tesla still would have failed if it wasn’t a good brand and people didn’t want to buy their cars.

He was getting around $4K subsidy per Model S they sold at an average of $108K. People still had to pony up for the car for him to get the kickback. That would be a pretty hard sell if they sucked.

3
Maga2020Maga2020 3 points ago +3 / -0

Watch the interviews with Musk, it was 100s of millions that kept him afloat in Government Contracts. He said it himself and he was weeks from bankruptcy.

3
Scuffers 3 points ago +3 / -0

yes and no,

the bailout loan saved Tesla back in 2007/2008, but unlike the others, they paid it back early with interest.

the government contract stuff related to NASA and SpaceX for the commercial cargo contract, and yes, without that they would not have survived, that said, the others that bid on it also effectively went bust when they did not win a contract either - it’s all a bit chicken and egg.

plain subsidies for Tesla were all about EV tax credits, these were open to anybody, and they did not go to Tesla, they were a tax credit for the purchaser, not Tesla.

then we get to Green credits, available to all EV makers, but only Tesla made them, and Ford/GM/etc had to buy them to avoid paying tax, so they paid Tesla for theirs - stupid? yup, but Tesla never asked or lobbied for these schemes, and would have survived without them, albeit with slower growth.

Ok let’s you start a company, fail and have the government save your company. It’s super easy to get money from the government right?

2
Maga2020Maga2020 2 points ago +2 / -0

He got multiple massive contracts and has talked about it multiple times, he is not hiding it nor is it his fault.

Simply pointing out the government kept him afloat or he would have gone bust.

2
anishr 2 points ago +2 / -0

The government did not keep him afloat. The government subsidies was one of many factors contributing to Tesla’s success.

2
Scuffers 2 points ago +2 / -0

in what way did Tesla or SpaceX fail?

the SpaceX contract was awarded after they successfully put a payload into orbit (the first private company to do such).

Tesla never failed, yes, it may have done without the 2007/2008 auto bailout, but the same could be said for bother Ford and GM, and Tesla paid their loan back early with interest.

1
anishr 1 point ago +1 / -0

I agree with you. Just pointing out that even if someone’s distorted opinion is that even if they failed, the government does not randomly give out money to people. There are millions of failed businesses that the government doesn’t do jackshit about to help

We shouldn't stop innovation just because our government may force it on us. We should stop our government instead.

1
Trump-16-20-24-28-32 1 point ago +1 / -0

I disagree. If it wasn't him, it would be somebody else. You can't hold a free people back from innovation.

The earliest cars used to be electric cars. I think they were more like go-carts, but still, they were battery powered. So, we had the knowhow, just not the technology.

define function the same?

without the internet connection, you don't get to use google maps, internet radio, etc etc..

had no effect on driving the car though, AP still works (although drive to map is going to be a problem).

you also loose mobile app control of your car, so stuff like turning the AC on remotely or starting/stopping charging etc all go away.

I guess if you could be arsed, you could disable/remove it’s sim then force it to use WIFI to access the internet, then use a firewall on your (mobile) wifi to limit what it can and cannot talk to.

(lot of people here th Model 3/Y's run on wifi as it’s cheaper than paying the sim subscription to Tesla, (Mifi with a cheap data only sim, job done).

Yes, having a tablet/phone based firewall etc would be do-able, but I can't imagine it’s worth the PITA unless Tesla start to do stupid stuff.

He did it because oil isn't a renewable resource, not because he's that scared about climate change.

1
Trump-16-20-24-28-32 1 point ago +1 / -0

Are you sure oil isn't renewable? Scientists aren't sure. The sycophantic climate change nutjobs think it is limited, but that's not what is being observed. It's one of those things that has been pushed on us our entire life... but previously consumed wells end up being refilled and recharged.

I'm not saying oil is or is not renewable... I'm saying to question the accepted narrative that oil is not renewable.

There is a lot to read on this. There is a lot of "oil is not renewable" out there where this is made as a claim, or assumed true. But, conventional logic cannot prove that oil is not renewable because you cannot prove the negative of something. What can be done is proving that oil is renewable. It has not been proven yet, but scientists are close to actually making crude oil. Evidence, however, shows that wells get replenished which indicates that maybe oil is renewable. There is evidence that oil is renewable.

We cannot assume oil is not renewable, nor assume that it is. But for now, as oil consumers, we will continue to consume the oil provided by the Earth, and will continue to consume oil that gets replenished in some of these oil fields.

Yeah but the hive mind here (mostly the boomers who are just anti-technology anyway) has decreed that EVs are forbidden.

Idontevenknow 7 points ago +7 / -0

It's not the tech that is bad, per se. It's the control of your own life that it takes away, or weans away from people as they become "used to" all the bells and whistles. They start to all behave like drug addicts. That makes people weak and easier to control. That makes society turn to shit. That is where we are at now.

I was planning on buying a Model 3 next month

My sister has one and I learned that Tesla has an insurance program now... I rode with her last week and she made sure my seatbelt was on before putting it in Drive

I was like wtf? Apparently she gets penalized on her insurance if someone isn't buckled in when in Drive

I'm no longer buying a Tesla

3
Scuffers 3 points ago +3 / -0

don't by their insurance then?

more generally, avoid any insurance that relies on telematics...

1
realPhantomFuck 1 point ago +1 / -0

Oh I know... I just thought it was wild Tesla has the ability to see when your seatbelt is on

1
Scuffers 1 point ago +1 / -0

it's a 4 wheels computer, they can (if they wanted to) see everything.

they actively use the cars camera's to record driving clips to send to their self-driving SW team for analysis, this is how they have built up such a vast database of public roads and associated obsticals along with how human drivers 'manage' these situations, they then use this to 'teach' the AI to drive.

3
DixMcCoy 3 points ago +4 / -1

Wait, what? These new car "innovations" are Orwellian as fuck.

1
Prussian_Pepe 1 point ago +3 / -2

All by design.

2
Kbotei 2 points ago +3 / -1

The seatbelt thing should only be for the Tesla insurance. They clearly state that they use the safety score to determine the rate they charge. It should not be an issue if you go with another insurance provider.

4
realPhantomFuck 4 points ago +5 / -1

Yeah, I perfectly understand that

Just felt weird

2
Barbs 2 points ago +3 / -1

It’s definitely invasive, but having a real-time risk assessment determining your rate is actually kinda interesting. It sounds like a system that actually balances the risk in the insurance pool more equitably, since it’s all currently based on zip codes and demographic averages with the others.

If you’re a young guy, but a safe driver, you’re still gonna get screwed on your insurance no matter what, with traditional insurance, because most are higher risk.

That’s the problem, all these cool innovations erode our privacy just a bit more all the time, for the sake of cost or convenience.

I don't give a shit about space when earth is going to hell in a hand basket.

I do. America was founded on the idea of Europe going to hell in a hand basket. If we get into space we'll be nearly impossible to control and it will be the most prosperous time for us in our entire history, ushering in a completely new age of freedom. Forget the "New World", it will be the "New Worlds".

Space should be the goal. History has shown that there is a correlation between population density and a loss of freedom in general. The greatest freedom is having almost no one around to stop you from doing anything. We've had the power to do this for many decades, there's a reason we don't do it. It's because our owners don't want us leaving our cattle farm, they want to keep milking us forever.

0
m3meMagic 0 points ago +2 / -2

wait until the bankers apply their banking to space as well.

5
Snowblind 5 points ago +8 / -3

Great take, agree on all counts

2
TheAttackTitan 2 points ago +2 / -0

Nah, space gives us a chance to start over. It’s infinite. We have infinite planets to pick from, if we wanted to start a true conservative world somewhere and be rid of leftism forever we could terraform one to our liking

2
Noselfrestraint 2 points ago +2 / -0

We need to learn to learn to leave this planet ASAP. The quicker we can get rid of Gia and appreciate a higher power in their infinite we'll be better.

So, Apple is terrified at the prospect of Elon creating a smartphone, and this was their move to protect their market share. Apple knows Elon's phone would be a real threat. Elon should start work on the phone immediately, if he has not already done so.

12
Voltage 12 points ago +12 / -0

Funny thing is for someone like Musk it's the idea that motivates. Once you cause a situation where he perceives a problem or market nitch and he has a brain child idea to address or fix the need than that is all it takes. It may not be fast tracked if apple is playing ball, but nothing apple does will stop him from merging two to three or more existing ideas companies and products together to venture into the phone market.

-1
NotMyGovernor -1 points ago +2 / -3

Musk probably fucked his wife and called it day.

3
FireannDireach 3 points ago +4 / -1

Crush him? C'mon. One, he has no access to chipsets that can outperform Apple's silicon. Snapdragon is expensive - and then he'd have to develop an OS, which could be a billion dollar enterprise.

If I were more conspiracy minded, I would think Musk is talking selling the company to Apple.

But it's probably just tighter integration and ideas for whatever Musk has planned being supported by Apple.

I know there's going to be ongoing wild speculation, but Musk, starting from zero, crushing Apple? C'mon. Pull the other one, it has bells on it.

2
Scuffers 2 points ago +2 / -0

there are plenty of alternatives...

My current phone uses an 8 core Helio P90

these use ARM designed cores, same as the Snapdragons, usually a version behind on the manufacturing scale, they are not as cutting edge as the latest snapdragon's, but the difference is just bragging rights.

Mine also has a 4480 mAh Battery so can actually run for 2-3 days unlike some $1K+ iShite.

actually, having just looked, you can buy a new A85 8 core 8/128GB phone with 50MP camera, 6.5" screen, NFC, dual sim, expandable memory (14/1TB) etc etc for just under $110 US, runs Android 12.

2
borntacticool 2 points ago +4 / -2

There are a bunch of linux-based smartphones that could be developed and branded. With Musk's connections and wealth he could build his own fabrication plants. At some point we're probably going to have to do that anyway. These plants are way too damned expensive and the first person to miniaturize them so everyone can print their own chips is going to be hailed as a hero.

1
BasedOligarch 1 point ago +3 / -2

Exactly this. Muskbros have not a single fucking clue. Musk drove to Tim, not the other way around. He didn't even invite him inside the bldg. "Look at my lily pond Elon. Now shoo."

0
QLARP 0 points ago +1 / -1

He got a scary email saying to stop making in app purchases without giving the 30% app store kick back.

Started spasing out that apple was going to take twitter down because he is saving free speech.

Then Tim told him what the fuck are you talking about you weirdo.

Now mushbros ares are eating it up

1
had-to-chime-in 1 point ago +2 / -1

develop an OS, which could be a billion dollar enterprise.

No way it's going to cost a billion dollars to make an OS. Tesla already are in the OS business I'm sure they could modify it for phones.

Why is he even talking to Tim Cock? He should talk to the people who actually own it. But I guess he didn't feel like flying to China?

5
603taco 5 points ago +7 / -2

Why did Tim Apple Delete all Apple affiliated twitter accounts then?

6
FireannDireach 6 points ago +6 / -0

What accounts? I just looked, all of the Apple accounts are on Twitter, and being used, as normal - like @AppleTV, @AppleMusic, etc. The "main" Apple account is only used for special events, and wipes tweets after, it's well documented. Which accounts are you referring to?

4
603taco 4 points ago +4 / -0

My apologies, didn’t do my due diligence it was an apple Exec in charge of the APP store.

5
Trump-16-20-24-28-32 5 points ago +5 / -0

"We never planned on removing Twitter from the App Store..." but then thinks "we only planned on hiding it so nobody can find it, making sure it crashes on our systems, get rid of your ability to generate ad revenue, and will randomly block API calls to make it an app that appears to have major issues so nobody will use it."

3
Morgio_Zoroder 3 points ago +3 / -0

This post could be construed as a demonstration of Elon's having brought a potential rival to heel

3
least_counties_ever 3 points ago +3 / -0

Tim being a fag is a very important detail. Fags are the most deeply committed to the globohomo hegemony over our culture. They’re the least interested in debating it and therefore the least interested in free speech. Tim would definitely pull twitter off the App Store if he thought he could get away with it. Tim is calculating how to work around the shareholders objections. Get ready for some false flag attacks on fags where they use twitter to coordinate.

3
mfinlay04 3 points ago +3 / -0

Breaking N.E.W.S tomorrow, apple removes Twatter from the app store. (Miss-spelling intentional)

i see no misspellings..

2

They won't do it when Twitter is still popular because of the loss of revenue to them.

Apple can less afford to ban apps than Google, because iOS won't let you sideload.

2
Range4harry 2 points ago +3 / -1

Together they control around $3 trillion. In the event Elon “red pills” Tim Cook, the cabal’s options would be severely limited

2
Brendancs0 2 points ago +2 / -0

isn’t elon a liberal?

2
covfefe_energy 2 points ago +3 / -1

I strongly sense Elon is using coded language here.

It's almost as if he's saying, "I just checkmated Tim Cook's faggy ass and he sheepishly gave in to my demands. I'm saying nice things about Tim in this tweet, but the fact is I own him now. He's my little bitch boy and will do what I say, or face my unholy wraith of lawyers and lawsuits which he knows he will lose."

2
