But it did help reduce spread to others if you were sick because your coughs or sneezes aren't pure virus but liquid surrounding the virus so it reduced horizontal energy to reduce spread
It basically was an automatic "cover your mouth when you sneeze"
Which means it helps but the Dems acted like it was a fucking holy grail.
No a mask was just a tool in the arsenal and nothing more.
Fuck Fauci and the rest for acting like it was to be all end all
The more effective thing we did as a society was social distance and reduce crowding indoors in many areas
They reinvented the fucking kerchief and then taped them to your kids faces and called you a racist and a white supremacist if you told them to keep their fucking hands off you and your kids.
When I went to the market and saw a masker, I would saddle up but 6 feet apart and let a silent but deadly go. Would keep a normal expression when they lost it. Good times.
I was going point out the comparative fallacy but I just hit the why bother stage just this second. This one falls into the Right, but for the wrong reason column.
The “95” of a N95 masks stands for 95% efficient at 0.3 microns. The COVID viral particle is 0.125. So the fence and mosquito analogy is pretty accurate. You want real protection for 100 percent of particles smaller than COVID or as small as COVID, don a P100 FFR. The problem with these is it has a high flow resistance and thus has seal issues. Thus, is the reason in the hospital that an N95 is used with TB patients because even though not as protective it provides better sealing when a person has been fitted properly. But even then, an N95 will not generally protect a person from being infected with covid if they breath the viral particles in due to the small micron size of COVID. Not to mention, that airborne particles can also infect through your eyes and thus wearing an N95 with no eye protection is useless. General surgical mask use for the public provides zero protection from airborne viruses. COVID is airborne. Not droplet. Not contact.
You seem familiar with respiratory protection. Can you tell me, how many respirators or masks that youve come across are rated for exhalation vs inhalation?
So first and foremost the way respirators work is by electrostatic with the different fibers in the respirator. I do not know of any surgical masks that have these qualities let alone any kind of sealing capabilities. At least not that I have seen or used. Some NOISH P100 FFR and N95 do have exhalation valves that filter the users breathed air. But, even though it says 100, it still lets about 5 percent of the viral particles out from the wearer (studies on the masks). People who are HCW fix this by placing surgical tape over the filter. I can tell you that more than 10 minutes of doing this is not advised. You WILL get light headed due to CO2 reuptake. And if you wear glasses or goggles like you should, oh my good lord the fog.
So far as inhalation, the rating on the masks or respirators tells you the efficiency to filter out 0.3 microns.
In the case of surgical mask, they filter out anything larger than 3 microns. To help you know how small that is, a sperm head is 5 microns.
But remember, airborne particles can enter the eyes; thus one needs goggles that wrap around the head and seal; then, proper disposal of PPE into biohazard bin or the viral contaminants reenter the air.
If this did not answer your question. Please be more specific.
I have experience with getting clearance for respirators and papr but not as knowledgeable on what’s fully available. In my experience i have never come across a respirator that certified filtration for exhaling (especially before covid) and wasnt sure if there were actually any available, kind of loaded question because i didn’t think there were any since it seems like an engineering control rather than ppe
This test result is for a filtering facepiece mask not approved by NIOSH or by any other international standards
(e.g., China-KN95, Korea KFN94, UK FFP2 & FFP3, Australia P2, P3, Japan DS/DL2 & DS/DL3). The test conducted
for this report is for filtration efficiency and is not equivalent to the test for NIOSH respirator certification per
NIOSH test procedure STP-0059.
This assessment provides the filtration performance of an innovative respirator using a modified version of
NIOSH test procedure STP-0059. This assessment does not include an evaluation of the fit of these respirators.
Use of these innovative respirators in occupational settings would be contingent upon approval by the
appropriate regulatory agency.
Filtration Efficiency Results: The minimum and maximum filter efficiencies were 82.8% and 85.2%, respectively.
All five respirators measured efficiencies less than 95%.
From a study on the masks and filtration efficiency.
So, I was looking for new masks that have exhalation and inhalation filters and there is a new one. But, wow, going out in public with it looks like you want to go scuba diving.
Hey retards, the virus doesn’t travel in the air as a single viron but instead in much larger water droplets.
The above fact isn’t dependent on my stance on masks which is that they should be voluntary and posses a heavy cost for the user (TiO2 and plastic nano particles, respiratory infection, developmental harm for children, harmful CO2 buildup for users, environmental waste, psychological and sociological harm from obscuring the facial expressions of others. etc)
Yes, seems to support that Covid spreads in aerosolized airborne droplets which N95 can reduce the spread (both from infected person and to an uninfected person).
Being against masks doesn’t mean, unless one is a retard or zealot, that one should dismiss that masks could reduce spread of airborne disease such as Covid.
One can be against mask mandates and still believe they can reduce the spread but are not themselves benign.
droplets range from .1 to .5 microns. n95 masks only filter from .3 microns. in short you filter out half. also the aerosols quickly evaporate so the virus can easily get loose on it's own afterward. however the surgical style masks don't do anything of use, except catch projectiles.
Oldie but goodie
CDC, just another corrupt federal agency.
Masks didn't do much to keep you well
But it did help reduce spread to others if you were sick because your coughs or sneezes aren't pure virus but liquid surrounding the virus so it reduced horizontal energy to reduce spread

Wrong. Countries without mask mandates had similar or lower infection rates than countries with mask mandates.
CDC are PhD Idiots
Yup
When I went to the market and saw a masker, I would saddle up but 6 feet apart and let a silent but deadly go. Would keep a normal expression when they lost it. Good times.
Smoke is not 10 micrometers. No way. An iPhone6 pixel is 12
According to this infographic, you are correct.
This doesn't seem accidental though. It's like there's at least one person in the CDC that wants common sense to come back.
Congratulations, You Played Yourself

Chain link fence vs mosquito status
Well, that's not how N95 or any surgical mask work. But continue because you're proving my point here.
surgical masks don't work. n95 might offer some protection
Some yes, but not the same one all day and for several straight days.
Well ya gonna respond to the woman bud?

Do some light reading. Timeline from late 2019 to 2022 on the airborne classifications of Covid.
