My son, 4, was diagnosed with an ear infection...They call up the pharmacy and they are told they are out of amoxicillin. Call another pharmacy down the road, same thing. Call a 3rd and same thing before finding out that everyone in the area and most of the state is out of it. WTF. I can't believe we have let ourselves as a country get to this point. Makes me sad. Makes me angry.

Trump wanted to stop this and onshore most of our medical and pharmaceutical production, but the Democrats and at times his own party stopped him. Antibiotics save lives and this is a huge deal.
As if having to deal with the baby formula crap wasn't bad enough, now having to deal with this with my other kids. It infuriates me.
I’ve started stocking up on common drugs and asking my doctor to write scripts for basic things so I can go fill them and have them on hand. And yes, this is what happens when you are dependent on an enemy country for source materials.
I go on a 'backwoods hiking trip' once a year, and before leaving pay my doctor a visit and ask him to write me scrips for the same half-dozen drugs each time. Which he happily does because the request is reasonable and none of the drugs are controversial:
Everything except the epi-pen and Celebrex is cheap, and you can usually figure out a way to get them cheap, too. That's a fairly carefully curated list; between those six drugs and OTC stuff like Benadryl you can cover 95% of what's possible to treat outside of a hospital environment. Only thing missing is really strong pain medication.
Heading to Mexico this winter. All of this stuff is over the counter. I'll load up on Ivermectin, HCQ, 2 antibiotics as well (can't remember their exact names) I'm not sure they have epi pens otc???
Epi pens are situational anyway, probably the most niche drug on that list. But it's also the one that if you need it, and don't have it, you're flat fucked.
There's an auto-injection one called Auvi-Q, which is normally like 25k for two doses, it paid for with insurance. But if you don't have insurance the company will give you a coupon that brings the cost down to 50 bucks. So just claim you don't have insurance.
Not sure about you but past three years, I couldn't get anyone to give me a Z-paks. Always wanted to use the lesser effective meds.
5 years ago...no problem. Could get them and was on the mend in less than 24 hours. Don't know why docs in places I have lived refuse to use z-paks
It has some more severe side effects than newer stuff. The flip side of that is it's also more broadly effective. If you want it for prophylactic purposes like I described, you have to tell them you're looking for a general purpose antibiotic, not something to treat a specific illness.
Thinking I might use how you did it. Go in when I am healthy and ask for basically a med kit for staying out on range overnights.
Nothing sucks more than to get sick when you go watch over herds when predators are in peak season.
Thanks for the tip.
Good idea...I've already started this for myself. Doing online visits with a local walk-in to get stuff, but tough to get things for kids.

It's our own government. Blaming the PRC is a cop out.
Try online pharmacies.
I would suggest also learning about Cl-02. There are some good kits online.
Lastly, Ivermectin works as a fallback to antibiotics and better on some conditions.
will look into it, thanks for the tip!
My son had recurrent ear infections.
Chiropractor fixed them. I know because we got lazy and stopped going and he got another one.
Has to do with the way the head is attached to spine, easy adjustment for chiro to keep things working.
Find a good one and go monthly.
There are good online recipes for ear infections too if you look around. Good luck!
Thanks! I appreciate the tip. Would have never thought about the Chiro!
It surprised us too when our chiro mentioned it… hope it helps fren!
traveling to a foreign country south of the border may be an option too. antibiotics dont require a prescription there....
Haha that’s due to the super smart medical folks prescribing it for RSV.
As if the medical establishment hasn’t ruined its reputation enough already.
Lol, isn’t RSV…a virus…and this antibiotics are basically useless?
Haha stop noticing these things you untrained medical customer. 🤣
I dont think immune system deficiency had anything to do with it. Ear infection for a kid is incredibly painful. They had a cold for about 2-3 weeks, and eventually it turned into this.
For your kid no, but for your area yes.
The vaccine kills specifically the part of your immune system that fights bacteria.
I had an ear infection a few years ago and just got through it with ibuprofen. That stuff killed the pain as soon as it kicked in. Could always tell when it was wearing off because the pain would come back.
Worth a shot if you haven't tried it yet. I know I'm just some Internet random but I swear by ibuprofen when it comes to eat infections.
Yeah we’ve been using it at night to help him sleep and seems to do the trick
Covid vaccine kills neutrophil cells. Neutrophils are what fight bacterial infection.
A harbinger of what's to come.
It's not supply this time. It's demand.
ENT surgeon here. Our hospital is out of 34 medications, including very common ones like local anesthetics. Specialty endotracheal tubes have been on backorder for over a year. We can't find any staff to hire. Wendy's pays more. The system is crashing.
That’s terrifying…
Old geezer here. When we were little, pre antibiotic, mom warm a little olive oil in a teaspoon (careful here- warm like a baby bottle temp) dripped into ear and put a little cotton in to keep it from running right out. Very soothing.
fishmox Same thing as human amoxacillian sic. Same size pills and have same imprints
I have a bottle that I bought on Chewy. Exp was 3 years out, so in a pinch I'm prepared. For the record, I always have a rotating stockpile of healthcare items.
Amoxicillin will clear up an ear infection in 72 hours. Without amoxicillin it will clear up in 3 days.
Drip some warm salt water in the ear and make sure he holds his head to the side for a few minutes so it soaks in a couple times a day. It'll work just as well.
We use garlic and Oregeno infused Olive oil (home grown garlic, crushed and put into bottle of olive oil, with oregeno oil added). 3-4 drops the same way as you do the salt water. We haven't had to use an antibiotic for an ear infection ever. Not once. Household of 7.
That'll work too. Garlic and oregano both work well with infections. Salt's quicker though if you don't have the other mixed up. It works on the infection and the warm water soothes the pain.
Doctor just prescribed this for my baby for an "ear Infection". Turns out she didn't even have one, it was a completely different problem going on with her.
Are they dumping it too?
He (son) was pretty adamant about his ear hurting. Gave it a couple days figuring maybe it was just sore from a general cold. Went in saying just a bad cold not getting better and they said ear infection without prompting it. I find I have better success at the doctors doing that vs saying it’s something - and if they ignore something I point it out specifically at the end to go check
In our case we went in because my baby was cramping in her stomach, hadn't pooped in a week and was feeling miserable. They said, without prompt, "oh she has a tiny ear infection, sometimes that can cause belly aches".
Come to find out a day later from the ER it was actually Intussussetion. Totally different.
Grocery stores have been out of the baby food we use too. Just no noise about it this time around.
Neighbor waiting 8 days for Albuterol.
We have same issue. Our son is just over a year with ear infections. We live in MO and we could not get amoxycillin either. We finally got augmentin instead, which is another form of amoxycillin. We started giving the baby augmentin last tuesday, bit his ear drums are still red. We have also given him ear oil which has essential oils mixed with olive oil and some colloidal silver.
Sorry to here that, fren. I hope the little guy isn’t hurting too much from his infection.
There are plenty of other antibiotics that can be used for ear infections. Ciprofloxacin is one that is commonly used. Also Keflex and Augmentin (note Augmentin includes amoxicillin)
Yes they gave azithromicin instead which is reasonable, just was shocked to see this actually happening in basically the medical hub of the USA
Yes, it is strange. The interesting thing is where does it come from? A lot of our medicines come from India, China and other countries. You would be smart to buy some antibiotics for emergencies. I have Doxy and Amoxicillin. My wife was constantly getting sick while traveling. When I traveled to Mexico for business, I would stop at a pharmacy and buy antibiotics. I haven't been there is a while, so I started buying them from India. I also bought some meds that I take daily and have them for emergencies. Given the supply chain issues, I wanted at least 6 month supply. It costs some money, but I've got emergency meds for me and my family.
This surprises people? Most pharmaceuticals are produced in asia with a good portion of that being chinese production.

What state?
NH
Born and raised in Hanover NH myself. I ditched NH in 2004 for Maine, and now I've said fuck all to new england. I'm in Phoenix AZ. 60 degrees this morning.
What did you do to get kicked out of your home town in NH?
Exposed Sandy Hook, Hollywood Actors, and Deep State personell. I wpuldnt say i got kicked out though, but they dont like me at all. Waiting on the Brunson Burner, to redress some grievances. NH, and Maine owe me bigly!
Is there an alternate form available?
Yep, fishmox, available at any feed store or online.
Second this. The amoxicillin you get from the pharmacy is likely made in the exact same lab/company that makes fishmox. It's literally the same pill size/id, identical pills (I've had both at the same time.)
I believe there are other form of antibiotics that may be used where people are sensitive to it, or need a steonger variant.
They gave an alternative basically that’s use for kids that are allergic to it - which is completely reasonable from the dr perspective (and to me) just seems wild that we’re out in this area…
Makes me think it was planned, like formula. glad you were able to get what was needed.
I bet you can still get vaccinated against Covid or flu though!
You want to jump on an ear infection. In addition ot trying online, I would call the physician/clinic office and say you get it anywhere. There are probably other antibiotics that are used less that you could find.
I posted almost the same a month ago. Only way we can get it is if he's admitted to the hospital.
how the fuck do you run out of amox?
I've accepted the fact, that they want us all dead/gone - and once I accepted that, everything else makes complete sense.
And don’t forget, they think it’s funny!

That’s been mentioned several times…have you used it before? Is it legit?
