Nothing screams the economy is doing well like companies just cuting staffs left and right I work in the skilled trade sector and never thought I would need to look for work and I'm kind of worried
EDIT: Got a job offer gotta do some pre employment screenings but looks good
Skilled trade? You'll find work.
I do contract work for a fabrication shop that employs inept clock punchers. If you have a good work ethic and are reasonably intelligent, you are in demand.
As a tradesman surrounded by tradesmen, it's a bit of a hard pill to swallow, but it sure feels like most of the guys around me dont fit into that category. Especially the younger guys coming in. Lazy, don't give a fuck about what they're doing, no passion, just here to punch a clock and wile the day away until quitting time.
Not saying that's op of course. If he's not that and in a field demanding people (he did just get laid off however), the hurdle is proving to prospective employers that you are that person. That's the major hurdle
You gotta remember the pareto principle my man. 20% of the people do 80% of the work, in this case. That percentage is always gonna be roughly true, regardless of race.
I thought it was more like 10% do 90% of the work lol.
In a highly diverse environment I'm sure it is!
These are the Type of Demonstrations that will need to be attended in the near future
ive been out worked by men, ive out worked men. I know what i know I know what i dont know.
Im passionate about hvac. This i know
Good luck, dont be afraid to uproot to another state
I agree. Get out of PA.
temporarily raising my brothers kids while he chills with Jesus, cuz hes a selfish prick. God rest his soul.
Hard to be given the opportunity to demonstrate you are a better man. Good thing God gives you challenges he knows you can step up and handle.
Have faith my friend. God, will guide you onto better opportunities. Been laid off a few times. Worried, stressed and sleepless nights. But, I always got back on my feet and often found a situation I preferred or was vastly superior. Less worries, less stress and can sleep well knowing his light shines down on me.
Rough. But you are the desired one. You have useful skills.
Sulk hard for one hour, then go on.
Maybe jump into a course for a new skill, get a new certification, and meet people, meet people.
Im really considering plumbing or electrical
Identify as a rainbow freak and get a free certificate from your nearby community college
That could work.
Or just do what everyone who's out of work and who owns a drill and has a home depot credit card does: start general contracting. Right out the gate with zero experience you're already better than half the general contractors out there.
Best part is you can demand money up front and then ignore their calls and a few weeks later claim you were busy with the other customers you swindled.
Electrical industry here. Helpers get big pay. Journeymen get even bigger pay. Very in demand in my area. Plumbers and electricians can't be replaced by robots either. Yet.
Trust me a lot of northers who come down to our Texas rigs have a hard time working 12 hour shifts in the heat we have!
"It's too hot I need to sit down Inside" 😂 panzies on both sides!
I'll keep the heat over the cold! It will occasionally dip below freezing here and windy af. Forget dealing with that any more than the week or so of it we get!
Watch some plumbers in your area on YouTube. I don't think I'd like plumbing in PA because of the weird, old construction. Plus the customers seem whiny and cheap.
There seems to be lots of money in digging out heating oil tanks in that area.
If you've got electrical skills already, look into plant maintenance. I met a kid working for Tyson who loved his maintenance job and he seemed pretty spoiled. He said there was lots of refrigeration work and aluminum welding. I'd bet they had some kind of laser welder since he didn't think aluminum welding was hard while everyone else I know who does it complains about it.
Where's the last place you remember seeing your job? Maybe you can retrace your steps
I appreciate this humorous remark 😂 they used to call these 'blonde jokes'. I miss those.
One day I was driving down the road with a blonde girl I was dating at the time....we came across another blonde girl who was sitting in a canoe in the middle of an empty cornfield, swinging a paddle back and forth like she was trying to kayak and and going nowhere. My girlfriend's face got super red and she got mad AF all of a sudden and told me to stop. She was kind of nuts, so I stopped to avoid any trouble and she said to me, "I am SO sick of blondes like this giving the rest of us blondes a bad name!!!" Then she jumped out of the car and yelled so hard her voice cracked, "That's a kayak paddle you dumbass, you're in a canoe! I'd come out there and kick your ass if I could swim!"
Recruiter here: the best way to find a new or better job is the crank out as many applications as you can. Just apply to anything that seems even close and let the hiring manager decide if you're a good fit or not. You can apply to more jobs more efficiently by using technology efficiently. When you apply to jobs, you should be using a browser that has an auto fill option so things like address, email, phone number, name and so forth automatically fill when you're doing these applications so you don't have to keep on typing the same thing over and over again. Use indeed to apply to as many jobs as possible, especially their easy apply option. Don't worry about cover letters, they're obsolete. Your goal should be to start conversations and take it from there. You can be super honest halfway through the conversation, and let them know that you don't think it's a good fit. People respect that. But assume all the descriptions aren't 100% accurate and that you need to talk to somebody to figure out what the job truly is. So don't worry about being a perfect fit. If you jave half the skills, just apply. Good luck homie
Matthew 6: 25-34
May this experience grow your trust in God’s provision.
Let the worry only have a few hours or one day of your energy. Don't give it anymore than that. There are PLENTY of good jobs out there. You have highly desirable skills and WILL find a new gig that is better than your last. Keep your head up. Keep putting Ultra MAGA positive vibes out into the world. You'll be fine.
Someone with your skills could move into another field and do well. For example they have a big shortage of people in the tool and die industry (have a relative who runs a shop up in NY). On top of the shortage many of the ones left are getting close to retirement.
Could be just a poorly managed company in the books. HVAC is screaming for guys anywhere I go. You'll find something soon, don't worry. Keep in contact with your previous employer if you've been out of work for a bit, they might be able to take you back on once they've moved some money around.
Come on down to the Low Country of SC .
Every HVAC shop has the HELP WANTED sign out.
Higher up the food chain here are electricians - 3 to 4 weeks to schedule someone to come out.
Good luck and Gods speed.
Upstate SC is the same. I'm in industrial maintenance for a huge multinational with very fair wages and decent benefits. They've just been forced to reduce the entrance testing requirements because they can't hire enough people fast enough. Good luck on housing though. It's been insane the past 3 years.
What about HVAC engineers?
Prayed.
Field? General location?
HVACR, NE PA
There's a ton of HVACR work here in the south. I don't know PA, you may have to move but you won't go hungry. Good luck brother!
They are building more than 22000 houses just in my area of North Tarrant County. The private golf course in back of my house was sold to a developer and the new subdivision is almost finished (boo). Our beautiful view and pastime of sitting on the porch and watching the golfers is gone.
North of Dallas in Frisco, a mega-community just started building. That's just in this area. The whole state of Texas is booming and every one of these houses has central heat and A/C. Check it out, Pede. Your skills are in demand here. Highly.
Texas in general is insane and the Frisco area is even crazier...when it comes to building.
Get on Indeed.com. Many HVACR jobs listed; some likely proximate.
Good luck.
I've dropped a few applications in already today.
I'm just sad cuz I liked my job and the people there
Glad you're on it.
Yup. Being fired sucks. Been there, done that.
I've been fired before.
It's different when you actually deserve it though.
This just sucks
Year ago, the company where I worked axed our whole division.
One of the higher ups would appear Friday afternoon and fire anyone working.
After about three weeks, no one was in the building after Friday noon.
We all were fired eventually. And yes, it was bad. We were all close friends.
Even when a new company was formed and most of us hired, it wasn't the same.
Come to Texas. We have a shortage HVAC professionals. Housing is cheaper, no state income tax. Move to North Texas. Houston, Austin and Dallas are shitholes, but the suburbs are RED and they are growing.
I would think that would be in relatively high demand in the south, though I know it's hard to pack up and relocate especially if you have family. Best wishes friend, I know the struggle.
Do some freelance work using apps like taskrabbit or tasker. I've met some great general contractors that gave me plenty of work when I was side hustling
I'll look into this thanks
God has a plan. I've seen the absolute best outcomes from the worst situations. Bless you, Pede
I’m sorry brother. Good luck. You have job skills so you’ll be ok.
Stay strong! You're gonna do better than you ever imagined!
When one door closes, another door opens. This has been the case for me for over 50 years.....
Will say a prayer for you.
Understandable. We put a lot of ourselves into our Jobs....getting let go bites.
But the need for good people is strong now...especially given that we are still in clown world.
Keep your head up and start the process. Use online tools to help.
God Bless You and Shelter your Loved Ones!
"opportunity to work"? that sounds off, i cant figure out how
About 8 months ago I got fired after being targeted by the wokies. It seems even white women who have maybe 10 black blood in their veins identify as black as well and buy the whole woke narrative part and parcel. Any who, I went and applied to be a plumber, now I am apprenticing. I know you can succeed in picking up a new trade. I know being you is difficult: but you are the only one who can, so do you and do you proud.
Plumbings easy, shit flows downhill.
Please ninja, there is huge need for trade workers, especially English speaking.
A young apprentice electrician told me they are in need of tens of thousands of electricians.
you nailed that one, my golf partner was a union electrician and is retired and they are asking him to come back to work, I know of 2 others in the same circumstances, they want them to come back to work, cause the people they are hiring don't seem to be able to learn how to work and understand what to do,
You WILL find a new AND better job. God didn’t bring you this far to drop you now….
What?
Oh lol
Yes, and remember that the Fed Chairman Jerome Powell said he intends to get the unemployment rate up to 4.5% - 5%, because that would be a good thing. The central bankers are deliberately trying to do this as a way of combating the inflation THEY caused in the first place.
We really need to do a better job of informing people how these jackals are hurting THEM directly.
Hope you find a new job.
Sign up for your unemployment right away! Some states are offering job training if your interested. Just look on your states website. Prayers offered to you.
Never worry, you said yourself it's a skilled trade. There are tons of resources available that 99% of people including myself are unaware of and are difficult to find unless you are aware of them. I know they're put there I just don't know where or how to access them but I should try to find out. And there a millions of opportunities with some even in industries and down avenues and paths you can't always imagine. Hopefully you're financially stable enough to take a hit for 12 months like you should be , but if you're like the rest of us and you aren't, it should be a good wake up call that you've been fucking up by not being 12 months financially secure. Covid should have taught everyone that already but people are too lazy to help themselves. You don't have to be and you can do great. Stay open-minded and ready and trust in God that He has made you prepared for any and everything and will make any and everything available for you to discover.
I actually got a job offer already. pending drug and background and driving record. so i should be a-ok as im not a liberal drug addict "sovereign citizen"(remember that crap)
Hahahaha see! God bless you!
The most important thing in life is to never quit, never give up. Keep punching, persistence always pays off.
Sounds like you are on it, don’t settle for the first thing that comes your way. Options are good, move up.
There are precious few tradesmen. HVAC is tough, sheet metal is always a good opportunity to 🩸
Man up, lost several jobs standing up for what I believed to be right. Never went anywhere and whined about it. Picked my ass up and moved on. Good luck, now hold your breath with force, try to push your nut sack back down out of your belly, they should swing between your legs. Place faith in Jesus, not man.
Things are being made worse by all the influx of illegals and diversity hires.
You're in a better position than the lefty faggots who've been fired by the tens of thousands because they bring nothing to their companies and have no skills beyond enough hand-eye coordination to eat and cry. If you need to temporarily work an unskilled job to stay afloat, do that. No shame in being logical to stay out of debt or not sink further in.
what do you consider skilled worker? and what state do you live in?
HVACR and confusion??
So you live in the same state I live in, Michigan, I say that cause at the DMV I wrote my check out to the state of confusion, cause the process was so fucked up that day, and guess what, they actually cashed it as written.
I'm a retired licensed HVAC and Master Plumber By trade, and we still have a lot of help wanted ads here and the Unions are even looking for people with experience, but I never worked in the Union trades so I don't know what they require
Lol I love it
So am I right? Michigan?
haha no. North Eastern Pennsyltucky
Ok then you don't want to go anywhere REALLY cold then, cause today it's warm like 9 degrees and the snow finally stopped coming down, I got about 3 feet and just finished moving it all out. Your like Florida there compared to me. I thought PA had huge employment with all the oil and pipe fitters going crazy with work to supply our countries fuel demands? KEK I know Biden killed all that, sorry for acting like that
I can handle cold. its called layers bro. Milwaulkee makes them heated jackets too.
I dont mind lookin like the little brother from A Christmas Story
