They did. Apparently they hit the command centre with US military who were basically planning and leading the operation; given a large delegation of ukro-general staff visited the US embassy immediately after one can only assume mass casualties.

The Kinzhal does mach 10, nothing exists - today - to counter it.

It's a common misperception.

When the media says "Congressman" they are referring to the House.

When they say "Senator", they are obviously referring to the Senate.

But in the Constitution, Congress refers to both chambers.

We should call the House members "Representatives", but that term is too broad.

So we get confusion.

To be honest with you, the whole place disgusts me so much, I've only given the joint scant mental attention. I think the 'Congressman' and 'Senator' titles have always thrown me. Thanks very much for your clarification.

Anyways, they're all a bunch of traitors, under the same roof.

When I was working in the media we were told that, to avoid confusion, it is best to refer to members of the House of Representatives as "Representatives" or "Members of Congress", while reserving the term "Senator" for members of the Senate.

I just call the entire body (the House and Senate) “the legislature.”

IMO it’s weird to lump the Senate in with the House by referring to it all as “Congress,” especially when Representatives carry the “Congressman” title and not Senators.

They are probably the most capable ground force in the world. US always maintains superiority via Air and Sea. Both of which Russia can match or minimum effectively counter. No way anyone is beating them in Ukraine. It's preposterous. I don't think they want to just blow Ukraine off the map due to a large Russian population their, but no one is looking for peace in the West so they are given no choice but to destroy Ukraine as we know it.

Why does anyone think fucking around with Russia they can win?

Boomer post-Cold War PTSD mentality. They spent their formative years being scared to death of the USSR. When it collapsed, boomers drew themselves a mental picture of Russia being a weak joke. A place to laugh at and no longer fear.

This thinking never had a basis in reality, particularly since it conveniently cuts off right after Soviet collapse and ignores over two decades of Putin.

I think Putin realized, from Z's latest rant, that they're running out of political capital for money laundering and enough damage has been done. Hopefully him, Trump, and anyone else that's against the globalists are watching where the rats swim after they jump ship. That's the real victory.

They're doing it exactly right so far, cripple infrastructure and force them to drag this out. The Russians could even lose territory for months and return for a part 2 that way. It gives them so many options, it's brilliant. If they were to drop the bomb it would come down to a standoff eventually.

I've got to push back on this a bit.

At no time has Russia said their goals were to "end NATO".

They clearly stated their strategic goals in Ukraine and have been following those almost to the letter.

They have also clearly outlined their long-term goals in the Primakov Doctrine, and that states a desire to escape the mono-polar Anglo-American monetary hegemony. They have accomplished that.

Incredibly naive to think that they will successfully take Ukraine without wiping out nato. The only think keeping Ukraine going at this point is NATO with the arms and the bodies, ukriane was finished months and months ago.

No, I don't watch* MSNBC 😂.

The Wagner leader and other various leaders have been saying very different things. The other day the leader of the Wagner group was telling people to join now so they have better rank "before the big one". Also, Ukraine recently said it doesn't stop until there are tanks in Moscow, Russia has already said it's basically in a hot war with Nato.

Look, I honeslty want my outlook to be wrong. I do think Russia wouldn't push further than what their objectives are but we're entering an economy that's looking like it's going to be the same or worse than the Great Depression. Couple that with the threat of instability with the Petro Dollar from BRICS as well as the left losing footing in the US. We ARE going to be in a hot war before 2024 or around that time. Will it be Russia provoking it? Don't think so. But look at Belarus, Poland and Moldova. There is a ton a moving pieces right now.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 4 ▼
– War_Hamster 4 points 81 days ago +4 / -0

This is a more reasonable position, or at least it's stated more clearly.

Apologies for the MSNBC taunt, but they're the ones pushing hardest for NATO direct confrontation with Russia.

I would say WW3 has already started, but it's asymmetrical. It is the Leviathan against We The People of the world.

Will this turn into a hot war? You're right, it is certainly on the table, but I think there are other scenarios still in play that may allow us to avoid this.

I could care less what Ukraine thinks. There are not going to be Ukrainian or NATO tanks in Russia. If a hot war were to break out between NATO and Russia, it would be very ugly. I'm not sure the US and EU are prepared for a land war.

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– PickleSticks 2 points 81 days ago +2 / -0

Completely agree, we aren't ready for a land war however look at the people running all the helms of the government and military right now.

Yea my initial statement was overly simplified. Let's hope friend, the other situations prevail and the worst we end up with is a deep deep recession. Maybe I've swallowed the black pill but all I can do is take statements that have been said recently from said leaders and look at history with some what similar circumstances (albeit history is never the same, it only rhymes).

Russia is however preparing for a larger war, whether that war will come we can only hope that it doesn't. The Baltic states are playing games of chicken right now along side Germany and some of the EU while we're running large scale drills in South Korean and the Taiwan straight. I really can't see how any of this doesn't end up in some kind of hot war in the next year or so. I'm also younger, quite frankly was a child in 9/11 so maybe I'm wrong and this is just "another day in the world". There's just so maybe aspects geopolitically, financially and militarily in play right now that only happens in periods of history that follow violent bloody world conflict.

▲ 0 ▼
– ShampocalypseWOW 0 points 81 days ago +1 / -1

Do you... Do you not know that the UK is the same as Britain???

What are you basing the missile counts on? Genuinely curious about your data.

There's lots of data out there all pointing at the same general numbers. Russia depleted its stores, which were never very big to begin with, very early on. Most people just ignorantly assume that Russia's air force is just like the Wests, and must be full of guided bombs as a rule. Not at all the case. Not only are they not equipped in the same way by a wide margin, they aren't even used in the same way, which is why their air force has largely been absent from this war compared to how NATO air forces would have prosecuted it. For NATO, our air forces get a lot more funding and attention than Russia's does (well, that's true for every branch). So the result is that Russia has to pick carefully what it sets its air force up to do. It HAS to set them up to be a primarily interception and strategic bombing air force, owing to the size of landmass they have to defend and their lack of aircraft carriers from which they might launch nuclear sorties. Those are very demanding roles so that leaves little for air supremacy (think air to air combat), SEAD (suppression of enemy air defenses), or CAS (combat air support). So they really don't do SEAD at all because that is very difficult and requires a lot of specialty aircraft and munitions. That leaves them with a little bit for air supremacy and CAS. Well, if you don't do SEAD then you're pretty SOL when you go up against an enemy with any kind of air defense network, which Ukraine has a bit of. So Russian CAS and air interdiction efforts are largely constrained to the areas directly over the front. This is highly dangerous still, so they're not going all out on it or they'd ground their air force into nothing. They also simply do not have the ISR to support either mission. And of course their PGMs were never that good or in enough quantities to matter. They can still produce some of them at a modest rate, but not enough to keep up an air campaign. So what we see is Russia using its still experimental Kinzhal missiles, which are very spotty in their ability to actually make it all the way to the target, and a lot of missiles that were not designed for ground attack, like KH-22s (anti-ship missiles) and S-300/400 missiles (which are for air defense). We also saw them lean heavily on Iranian suicide drones, which is just pathetic. So we can be sure that they simply do not have the kinds of stockpiles of real PGMs that they'd need to fire dozens per day, every day. The exact data I have on just what those stockpiles look like is classified.

US is running out of shells to send ukriane, We've given up the idea of helping them match russias artillery strength.

lol!!! Where the fuck are you getting this shit?? Russia is the one running out of shells, which is why they're buying them from NORTH KOREA! The US is not even close to running out of shells, we're just not going to give Ukraine all of our stock for obvious reasons.

https://www.defensenews.com/global/asia-pacific/2022/11/02/north-korea-covertly-shipping-artillery-to-russia-says-white-house/

https://www.csis.org/analysis/united-states-running-out-weapons-send-ukraine

https://www.cnn.com/2023/01/10/politics/russian-artillery-fire-down-75-percent-ukraine/index.html

And yes, even though that is CNN quoting someone, I know this information to be true. Explosions are something we can easily track with out intelligence apparatus, and so we can tell when there is a decrease in the rate of artillery exchange. Both sides have reduced, but Russia has reduced FAR more than Ukraine has, mainly due to a lack of supply. Other factors include logistics failures or interdictions, losses due to action, losses to do wear and tear, and general incompetence. With HIMARS, Ukraine started being able to accurately target Russia supply depots, which they very poorly maintained and didn't conceal (due to poor training and incompetence). This severely depleted their stocks in a short period of time without them being fired, but more importantly it forced them to relocate their supply depots outside of HIMARS range. This increases the logistics train to get them to the firing positions of the artillery. And when HIMARS lacked depots to shoot at, the Russian artillery became the next targets, so they had to move back too because they're extremely easy to spot using ISR assets and they lack mobility.

Doesnt mean America doesnt still have plenty, but we just dont have any more we are willing to send them in excess.

Right, only we still have many other things we can send them besides our 155mm shells. The entire Russian concept of artillery fires has been defeated by the new reality of war. They relied on volume of fire as the main killing effect of their artillery. They use cheaply made, inaccurate artillery and do not supply their shooters with enough intelligence (or training) to accurately hit. They don't have a good system for BDA and reservicing of targets. Ukraine focused on intelligence and networking of different fires elements to maximize the effectiveness of each gun. This turned their old Soviet guns into much more effective and economical weapons. When they started getting more accurate western guns like the M777, they were already well-versed in the network and ISR side of fires, so they made highly effective use of the guns. This meant that they simply didn't need to fire as much to get the same or better effect as the Russians. It's like a sniper rifle vs a squad automatic weapon. They are two different classes of weapons that get very different results, even though both can kill you just as dead. The best part of this conflict is how brilliantly it is shining a light on the inadequacies of our defense production capability and our ability to move equipment and supplies. These things are being addressed so that the US and its allies will be that much better at meeting its own needs in future conflicts... though Russia certainly won't be around to take part in those conflicts so it likely won't matter. China certainly would not be in the same class of war unless they figure out how to teleport everything to North America or Europe.

It seems like a stalemate to me. No side has made significant progress in months. Ukraine takes some bombed-out village, then Russia takes it back, process repeats. I have to admit, when the war started I thought Putin would have taken Kiev in a matter of a couple months. Seems like a weird strategy to hold back when your enemy is getting continuously resupplied by NATO.

Yes it can, the enemy only has so many soldiers they can send to die. Russia can win by simply bombing to death all the enemy soldiers over time. Nato/us troops will need to get involved to keep it going.

The west is also behind on the munitions and supplies they are supplying aswell. not nearly as many tanks as they want, no jets, and they cant keep up with the amount of artillery shells ukriane needs to match russian artillery.

I feel like we are watching the Vietnam war being replayed.

The Russians have the conventional firepower to flatten a lot more - especially before all the Stingers arrived on masse.

The Russians must of wondered why the US didn't flatten Hanoi and mine the harbor.

Why not commit to winning a war?

permalink parent save report block reply
▲ 2 ▼
– capitalism_rocks 2 points 81 days ago +2 / -0

The Stingers were there from day one. If you remember, the US had seen the buildup and warned 2 weeks in advance and sent tons of stingers and javelins.

Personally, I think Russia didn't expect that much resistance. They thought it would be like the US walking into Iraq, where whole battalions were surrendering and/or running for the hills left and right. It turns out that the glowies have also been training Ukrainians at least since 2016, so their tactics have evolved significantly from Soviet doctrine. Maybe it's not as simple as "trying harder" for Russia at this point. They have a big military, but the losses are significant and they cannot commit to a total war without risking leaving the rest of the country open to western aggression.

▲ 2 ▼
– GodSaveTheWest 2 points 81 days ago +2 / -0

Russia is winning the attrition war. They are fine to keep this going, while the west cripples itself to try and prop up ukriane. While ukriane sends all its best best to die. While russia strengthens its relationships with other countries like india, iran, china, etc.

According to the Eurasian Times, we've got Russian subs operating off the coast of the United States and in the Mediterranean as well.

Russia isnt losing that much according to actual evidence people can find. only like 13k new funeral registries of soldiers back in russia. That was before bahkmut though. Meanwhile there is no evidence at all to prove anything good about ukriane losses.

Only the opposite, talk of many bodies being left to rot as to not have to count them as dead. Ukriane dragging men out of their homes to force them to fight. etc.

We will likely never really know the true death counts due to severe propaganda. But from what i can tell ukriane is doing a lot worse. like how russia is willing to retreat from places to save lives, while ukriane desperately holds on to every inch no matter the cost. same with their offensives. Russia takes it slow and steady using their artillery advantage. Ukriane actually sends waves of men in probing attacks over and over until they can hopefully take their target no matter the cost of life. lyman and kherson city were that until russia decided to pull back. kharkov was barely defend by russia. All other ukriane offensives were complete failures.

Russia's strategy is to keep grinding down the Uke Army & NATO until it is all dust. So far it's going pretty well, thanks to lunatic Zelensky. That's why Russia doesn't kill him.

So long as there IS a Uke army (containing actual Nazis) and NATO (US deep state & DOD) still thinks it rules the world, there cannot be peace for Russia. Any 'peace' would just be giving the Nazis time to rebuild forces to attack Russia again. That's what happened with the Minsk treaty, and the collective West admitted that was their goal from the start.

Russia is not making that mistake again.

I wouldn't be surprised if Russia has privately told Zelensky that if he tries to stop the war, they will kill him.
