I work in the travel industry. My job essentially is emergency, in travel help. So if people have flight delays, hotel problems, etc etc, I am the guy who helps get them back on track. I just took a call from a customer, the hotel he booked in Portland had a double murder last night, and he obviously did not want to stay there. So I called the hotel, and while chatting with the Sales manager, we started talking about how bad Portland has gotten, and how this country is collapsing before our very eyes. That's when the lady said "I'll give you a clue about where I stand. I was at the capitol on Jan 6th." There is hope for this country fellow Pedes. When I can call Portland, and speak with someone who deeply loves this country, and is MAGA through and through, we stand a chance.

We're there. It gives the actual idea of "deep within enemy territory".
For example, if I'm in Portland proper, there is no way I would feel safe reading .win on my phone without taking precautions, AND you can bet I'm armed.
7 years ago, it was such a beautiful place and I was proud to say I was from the Portland area. The changes happened quickly. As soon as the riots started and the city only prosecuted people who defended themselves from the rioters while letting antifa creeps go with no charges, I knew the fall had been complete, and so did everyone else with a brain.
Now it's flat out dangerous to even be a classical liberal. If you don't cowtow to the alter of Maoist style violent communism, you're a target.
I have friends and family in Portland and Seattle that I haven't visited in 15 years because I just refuse to set foot in urban shitholes. Unless they want to come out to the sticks, I'll probably never see them again.
I grew up mostly in Portland, so watching the riots and news footage is horrifying since I knew all those places in the 80s and 90s. Even in the mid 90s with the gang wars that drove a huge exodus from the suburbs — the city has never been so destroyed as it is. That courthouse they laid siege to is smack dab in the middle of what used to be a beautifully maintained urban core filled with families and huge street markets.
And now… i am forced to go there every few weeks for work and last week had to step over the skin popper who was needle deep with his morning starter…just hopped nothing jumped onto me. Luckily it was raining so the poop was mostly washed away.
I heard great things about San Fran and San Diego I was told “I would like”
Portland has let the shit run over.
Greater Idaho is gonna take the remaining Oregon... leaving libshit Portland on their own.
Eventually, Portland will not be able to operate independently, and Greater Idaho will take them too... and hopefully purge the woke mindset of their occupants.
Well said fellow pede. I live near Fort Lewis/McCord AFB myself. I used to love going to Seattle or Portland for weekends. Now, I won't go anywhere near either city.
I live near McCord also, last time I went to Seattle I got off the Sounder and was greeted by a pair of sweatpants used as toilet paper, haven’t been back since, this was probably 4 years ago. It’s bad enough where I’m at, I don’t need to see worse
Back in the 80s there was a shootout between some Rangers from 2nd Batt and the Crips. Happened on Ash St in Tacoma.
Over a decade ago I visited Salem with my (then) girlfriend. It was clean, no junkies, hell it was after dark and kids were running around in the park like it was pre-2000. It was safe. We sat outside and had a drink with zero issues. She fell in love with the place and wanted to move there.
Last time I was in that area, it was 2019 and an absolute shithole. Junkies shooting up in broad daylight and harassing people outside the same coffee shop.
In 2019 my folks visited Tigard. Right in the parking lot of their hotel was a car with all the windows smashed in. When they mentioned it to the front desk employee,
... They realized how fucked it really was at that point.
Folks have friends in Portland and they like to visit the Rose Garden and the Japanese garden. My mother refuses to venture into Portland nowadays. My dad, who grew up in Brooklyn and is still a scary guy even in his 70s, won't go either because he will probably beat someone to death if they harass him or his wife.
If I ever need to venture into that shithole, I find a hotel near the place I am going that will valet park my car. Already had one stolen and a few vehicles almost stolen.
Wife and I ALWAYS carry, everywhere we go, and we go to the range multiple times per week. She EDCs a 10mm during the colder months.
It's sad, like you said - 7 years ago it wasn't really bad. You could go out drinking and to a movie or concert then wander around late at night to grab something to eat and you were perfectly safe. Now? I felt safer clearing rooms during my time in the Army than I do going into Portland. I have a TON of stories about the things I have encountered in the past few years.
we need to turn this thread into a story
I long to visit the Pacific Northwest one day (Florida fag here)
Even where I live…it’s gotten different. You see the govt cheese addicts everywhere and where my grandfather used to take me for walks and it was like, 40% senior citizens.
My buddy pre 2020 visited Seattle and said it was “the most beautiful city he had ever been to”
The pacific northwest is beautiful, but the weather, when paired with hopeless political decisions, really fucks the place.
There's no way coming back once Democrats takeover a City Government. They will cheat steal elections and there is no recourse with Soros DA's.
I was at Adventist Hospital in Portland with a relative waiting while they were having a procedure. I logged into their internet. I tried to bring up this site. It would not let me.
What's your litmus test for deciding when it's time to Escape from Portland, starring Kurt Russell?
What did it for me was the police and mayor openly taking sides when antifa began destroying downtown. If you defended youself against an unprovoked attack--even on camera showing a sucker puch from behind--then the DA went and prosecuted the defender. The attacker, so long as their politics aligned with the mayor/city council, was never touched.
That's when I decided to stay in Washington County (neighboring county to the west). WaCo doesn't play games, and that's why it's still a nice place.
I agree. Lived in Vancouver and routinely went across the bridge and it got worse year after year until we moved to Texas last year.... when they went full fash
That’s so crazy bros.
I loved the story, sucks about the double murder but seriously when would you have even imagined…?
That place is just STEEPED in Marxism…
