About 1.5 million Irish men, women, and children were summarily kidnapped and sent to the west indies in the early 1600s. In fact, in 1619 a group of Irish children landed in Jamestown months before the supposed first African Slaves. There is actually a pretty fascinating story about the early settlement of Irish in Florida too but at that time is was occupied by Spain.
