Throw in property taxes, home insurance, utilities, car insurance, car payment, groceries, let alone saving any left for savings account.
I’m not saying it’s not possible or too hard to own your own home and vehicles and pay for everything, but I’m sure with the way the economy is going, with the inflation, high interest rates, and mostly service industry jobs for many young people, that maybe more would want to own homes and build families if they were born 30 years earlier.

When bearings wear out you can shim them with beer cans, gaskets can be made from cardboard, seals from waxed rope. Head gaskets from aluminum cans, piston rings from sliced steel pipe. Learn to fix things, the sooner the better.
Where do you plan to get propane? Start on a wood gasifier conversion. They did this during WWII and some areas still use wood gas to run taxi's and engines. FEMA actually has plans you can download if you are truly interested in alternatives when society collapses. If you've ever made charcoal from wood, or charcloth from old T-shirts and fabric, that gas that comes out of the top of the can is wood gas and can power almost any engine. It's not very efficient, but it does work.

I addressed this earlier up in the comments about wood gas production and making a gasifier. It's actually not very complex or difficult. Of course, you need a supply of wood. I have not researched making methane from rotting manure or garbage, but I do have a boiling and condensing apparatus I made from a beer keg, water heater heating element, some copper pipe and fittings, and a $6 Chinese voltage controller. The setup is quite efficient for extracting alcohol from fermented corn, sugar, or anything that rots. And I can make some seriously good bourbon once it's aged on toasted oak. Unfortunately the highest proof I have achieved with 3x disti ll ing is around 90% which contains too much water (alcohol is hydroscopic) to burn strait, but mixing it 50/50 with gasoline works quite well, though I prefer to drink the hearts and just toss the heads in the gas tank.
That's just stupidity! Natural gas is piped through the home from the street in most urban areas and developing communities. In rural areas there is propane gas and tanks that are filled every so often during the year for heating/cooking in the house.

I used to use natural gas in a lab testing fuel cells. Those fuel cells were very sensitive to certain contaminants. Natural gas IS mostly methane. And some ethane, and a little propane, and some smaller and bigger molecules that also burn clean, and some water that doesn't matter, and yada yada, but also a little bit of random stuff that doesn't burn clean. It comes out of the ground after all. The exact amounts of the various things varies day to day, mostly based on where it's from.
Natural gas does contain some contaminants. They are small, but I can see the possibility that with enough exposure it could cause issues in some people. One day, I got curious and bought a little Dylos air quality monitor that measures particulates of a certain size. Using the stove does put some particulates in the air. So they have a point. It's a small point, but it is a point. And it would be solved by venting the kitchen when cooking, just like everyone's bathroom. Simple. My point was that they know that their point is so small that they don't even talk about venting. They're lying. They are using "possible" health hazards to get their regulations thru, knowing there is an easy fix to what is likely an imagined problem. It's 2023, we'd know if gas stoves caused health problems by now. They're lying. They don't care about the possible health hazards. It's just a wedge to say it's affecting poor black people more, so the stoves are racist and you're racist for not caring.
And that's why we all need to switch to electric stoves powered mostly by coal which releases way more CO2 and WAY more other pollutants and a SHIT-TON of particulates. You can see why they needed to move the messaging.
Incidentally, when cooking, the increase in particulates NEARLY ENTIRELY come from smoking the oil and food. In Vietnam, Cuba, the far east in 3rd world areas, they became experts at keeping old engines running. When bearings wear out you can shim them with beer cans, gaskets can be made from cardboard, seals from waxed rope. Head gaskets from aluminum cans, piston rings from sliced steel pipe. Learn to fix things, the sooner the better.

Where do you plan to get propane? Start on a wood gasifier conversion. They did this during WWII and some areas still use wood gas to run taxi's and engines. FEMA actually has plans you can download if you are truly interested in alternatives when society collapses. If you've ever made charcoal from wood, or charcloth from old T-shirts and fabric, that gas that comes out of the top of the can is wood gas and can power almost any engine. It's not very efficient, but it does work.

I addressed this earlier up in the comments about wood gas production and making a gasifier. It's actually not very complex or difficult. Of course, you need a supply of wood. I have not researched making methane from rotting manure or garbage, but I do have a boiling and condensing apparatus I made from a beer keg, water heater heating element, some copper pipe and fittings, and a $6 Chinese voltage controller. The setup is quite efficient for extracting alcohol from fermented corn, sugar, or anything that rots. And I can make some seriously good bourbon once it's aged on toasted oak. Unfortunately the highest proof I have achieved with 3x disti ll ing is around 90% which contains too much water (alcohol is hydroscopic) to burn strait, but mixing it 50/50 with gasoline works quite well, though I prefer to drink the hearts and just toss the heads in the gas tank.

First it's electric stoves, next is it control of local/state electric companies? Should we now call it the Electrical Industrial Complex strictly regulated by Fed Gov't? I used to use natural gas in a lab testing fuel cells. Those fuel cells were very sensitive to certain contaminants. Natural gas IS mostly methane. And some ethane, and a little propane, and some smaller and bigger molecules that also burn clean, and some water that doesn't matter, and yada yada, but also a little bit of random stuff that doesn't burn clean. It comes out of the ground after all. The exact amounts of the various things varies day to day, mostly based on where it's from.
Natural gas does contain some contaminants. They are small, but I can see the possibility that with enough exposure it could cause issues in some people. One day, I got curious and bought a little Dylos air quality monitor that measures particulates of a certain size. Using the stove does put some particulates in the air. So they have a point. It's a small point, but it is a point. And it would be solved by venting the kitchen when cooking, just like everyone's bathroom. Simple. My point was that they know that their point is so small that they don't even talk about venting. They're lying. They are using "possible" health hazards to get their regulations thru, knowing there is an easy fix to what is likely an imagined problem. It's 2023, we'd know if gas stoves caused health problems by now. They're lying. They don't care about the possible health hazards. It's just a wedge to say it's affecting poor black people more, so the stoves are racist and you're racist for not caring.
And that's why we all need to switch to electric stoves powered mostly by coal which releases way more CO2 and WAY more other pollutants and a SHIT-TON of particulates. You can see why they needed to move the messaging.
Incidentally, when cooking, the increase in particulates NEARLY ENTIRELY come from smoking the oil and food. Mark my words, if they manage to ban gas stoves, someday soon the next regulation will make it that your electric stove won't be able to heat food hot enough to brown it. "Did you know that all that flavor from carmelization and the Maillard reaction causes cancer?" They already say this. It's coming. Don't give them an inch.
