EV batteries lack reparability leading some insurers to junk whole cars after even minor collisions
Some insurers are forced to scrap whole electric vehicles if their batteries are scratched or slightly damaged as they lack reparability and cost as much as 50% of the total vehicle.
DEPENDING IN THE CAR, EV batteries can be opened up and have individual cells tested and replaced. I know this can be done with most Teslas. Not sure about other brands.
Ev cars are still fairly early in development, and until we have a battery revolution, things are the prettiest. I still say that in the case you have power generation outside the grid, EVs may be of use. I DO NOT recommend them for the average user.
