Oh no! Not HR! ~sob.
🎵The roof, the roof, the roof is on fire, We don't need no water let the motherfucker burn, Burn motherfucker burn.🎵
Not muh Twitch moderators!
Twitch is a woke joke now
I'm REALLY beginning to think these companies may have had some of their assets seized.
One of the little bright spots.
It's the signs of a roaring economy.
We are not in a recession.... racist!!!
I'm probably the biggest racist on this site, on my 6th shot of espresso and we all know drinking coffee is RACIST!!!!!!
You really have to check this site every day or funny comments like this sound completely nonsensical.
If I got paid by the hour for perusing this site I could retire or I'd be a glowie faggot.
You sound racist with your shuffles cards ... pertinent observations.
You probably keep you coffee in a pantry you BIGOT !!!
I bet it’s organized too!
Roar it to the ground.
Oh no, not the twitch units!
lmfao Twitch already cut the payout to their streamers from 70/30 splits down to 50/50 splits recently, started running a shitload of fucking annoying ads, and their CEO also just quit.
Damn what will all of those hot tub twitch thot “gamers” do now?
Have to figure another way to advertise their OF accounts.
Da fuq are "twitch units"???
Haha u got downvoted by one of them gen z who take twitch seriously lol btw I wanna know too
eSportsball is real sportsball!
y'all boomers gotta recognize gen z and millennials don't want to go outside
Twitch is the video game streaming site Amazon bought.
Me too. WTF is that?
Oh no, not human resources!!!
They don't want to go back to the office? Ok, we'll permanently make you stay home lol
They really need to rename the department to Corporate Protection.
Diversity hires archive.
You see, with all the new AI and automation, “human resources” are wholly obsolete. I mean, that is until they program AI’s to have gender/race identity, then the robot will have their own labor disputes to deal with. You hear me code monkeys? There is your golden ticket, much more lucrative than planned obsolescence.🤣
The commie department of any organization.
Tamika: "but i jess got dis job as DE&I Equity Specialist!"
We all know they can jsut fire the whole HR staff and the rest will fix itself
It’s ok. Biden said he already created like 500 billion jobs so 9000 lost is nothing
Hate seeing anyone lose their job. That said, I undoubtedly argued this point with specifically these people over on Reddit as soon as the lockdowns began. As Trump said, the cure can't be worse than the disease. I think it's only just beginning, unfortunately.
Human resources first, please.
It will be more and more. Processes are funneling faster and faster to damn near full automation. Amazon could not survive either without the "gubment" cloud business and USPS raping. Amazon is the government.
And there's things even bigger than Amazon - i.e. Visa and Mastercard. They control the world at this point.
This is all the more reason to get the fuck away from AWS at all costs.
We are putting all our eggs into that basket as we refactor everything into AWS where I work. Only a small handful of us are questioning it. It's very odd.
I’m an AWS “certified developer.” My personal opinion is “serverless architecture” just moves complexity from the application level to the platform level and promotes even deeper vendor lock-in. But there’s a lot of money to be made for consultants doing cloud migrations, stupid as it is.
As a consultant this is absolutely correct. We don't solve problems. We refactor them and make bank. I feel like a lawyer sometimes, LOL.
As you refractor and bake yourself into vendor lock-in there are patterns you can use to abstract yourself a bit so migration away is easier:
I’m learning it now just because so many idiot employers require it lol
Unfortunately, globally it makes up something like 70% of the market share
Doesn't Twitter run on it too?
Exactly, they had terrible practices when doing well. Now they're gonna have that plus more bugs, shittier security during wartime, etc. Half the web goes down when AWS or Cloudflare has an issue.
Where do you go though? Azure? Google? A smaller provider which is probably more expensive and not as resilient? Back on-prem?
Getting away from AWS is absolutely the thing to do but it's easier said than done unfortunately.
Oracle is trying to get into the cloud provider space. I wouldn’t trust them any more than the rest.
My advice when building a new service is to keep it cloud agnostic! No using the fancy proprietary services like lambda, dynamodb, etc. you should be able to run in any environment, including your own dedicated boxen if you have to.
Side note: S3 has become somewhat of a standard, and there are non AWS solutions (including on prem) that are compatible, so that one is doable 😀
OracleCloudServiceAbstractionFactory oracleCloudServiceAbstractionFactory = new OracleCloudServiceAbstractionFactory(OracleCloudServiceAbstractionFactoryParameter)
eyelid starts twitching
Make like Joshua Moon of Kiwifarms and be a LAND-CHAD bro.
Hopefully this is peak cloud.
They hired 800K people during the pandemic. this is just trimming excess fat.
They just opened a new warehouse in my town and are hiring workers and drivers like crazy.
The people getting fired are useless.
Well they are HR
The beginning of the end to Nationwide Social Experiment of wokeness hopefully. What a waste of time, money and human evolution.
The woke millionaires will get bailed out with middle class tax money.
It's all so non-productive.
No such thing. You think they actually cars about "trans lives" or "systemic racism" or whatever crap they spewed in 2020? No, it's all just marketing.
Until very recently Twitter was full of liberal shillbots. That's the closest these corporate executives ever came to interacting with real people. Of course they parroted every left wing narrative, they thought Twitter was real life.
Now the Silicon Valley techbros are SHOCKED to learn that they're actually not popular. Last week when SVB was failing and all the tech companies weren't gonna make payroll, half the country said "good riddance."
As long as I keep getting my $.45 widget delivered in 8hrs or less!
Don't forget superdiverse show like 'Rings Of Power'. 😄
FTFY: “Rangs of Powah”
What ever will the tranny Twitch streamers do when users start calling them troons and there are no mods around to save them?
That guy looks like he likes to take a whiff out of glasses people have farted in. 💩🍷👃
Gonna need warm bodies to stand a watch in Ukraine.
You get what you voted for
Even the bluest states have over a third of people voting Republican. But fuck them too, huh?
When does Amazon start laying off congressmen, senators, and government executives?
Twitch has become a total cesspool. Their admins partner and try to create influencers out of onlyfans models and hot tub streamers. While they are burning their incoming cash, they ban users and streamers who support Trump. Hopefully they get some sort of actual competition.
Are these the people who learned how to code?
May they all starve !
If it’s the same kind of employees Musk got rid of then I’m sure things will keep working. You only need so many pronoun management personnel.
Notice how Amazon doesn't have any good projects going.
Cloud servers? lame
Amazon chinese sellers? lame
They got nothing else. One of the biggest companies in the world and they aren't doing anything of value.
Learn to cod...wait, nevermind.
Not too surprised to see this, the number of "AWS is overpriced and we moved off of it" posts showing up on HN and lobste.rs has been steadily growing over the last 6 months.
I've read that all these tech companies have many people on the payroll that do absolutely nothing just to satisfy this or that NGO or to keep people away from other companies
Interesting, AWS was insulated from the first round, synchophantic behavior to intensity...
Oh no! Hope they didn't figure out they can replace HR with a cork board!
Now they can hire 9,000 die directors and employees
Replaced by AI
C'mon man! Strongest economy of all time Jack!
What is a "Twitch unit"? ..asking for a boomer(me)
Looks like the uptick in interest rates is dooming these companies. They must be leveraged up to their eyeballs.
