Now maybe you understand why homosexuality was forbidden to begin with, its a sadistic mental illness and people who are under it's spell are all vicious manipulative schemers with no redeeming qualities.

homosexuality is the only sin listed in the bible that is in itself also the punishment

Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error

in some sense, and by definition, all sins are a punishment in and of themselves because it is the opposite of good, but in no other place does it state it so clearly as romans 1

all sins are a punishment in and of themselves because it is the opposite of good

I've spent about 20 seconds reflecting on this, and I'm pretty impressed. I'm going to spend more time on it.

"Don't covet thy neighbors wife." You know what? Yes, spending your time even thinking about that is gonna ruin your day, let alone acting on it. Interesting.

"Honor thy father and thy mother." You're new here. They know what the deal is. They also earned a bit of respect by the process of you coming into this world and the difficulty of keeping you alive. Go against them and you're probably gonna have a bad time.

"Don't murder." I bet once you do this, you realize how easily it can be done and now you're on edge all the time thinking you're at risk, too.

Sin is essentially self-harm, yes.

that's a hard concept to grasp even though it sounds obvious

it reminds me of the parable of the workers in the vineyard in matthew 20, where the boss paid the first workers he hired the same as the last, and the first guys complained that it wasn't fair because they have borne the burden of the work and the heat of the day while the others had not

they're implicitly saying that the narrow path is worse than the wide path, like repenting on your death bed and thinking you got away with something, as if walking with the lord and being refined is not in itself the good

Humans are made in the Image of God

Sin is lawlessness against God.

Sin is by its very definition a self-wound at the spiritual level, cutting far deeper than any material wound.

Don't confuse the moral laws with the purity laws. God's people were terrible (on average) at keeping the moral laws, so he set up a bunch of intentionally bullshit laws designed to weed out the weak and keep the faithful from dissolving into the larger world. (The line of David needed to be kept alive and intact so that God could send Jesus through it.)

Those bullshit laws are why allegedly observant Jews today can't wear garments made with different types of fibers, can't eat pigs, etc. Some of those purity laws had practical advantages, mostly gone now, but that wasn't their purpose.

Of course, for people who want to take theology out of it, those laws (and the rest of the bible) could be seen as gathered wisdom, and then the practical benefits would be more important. That wouldn't mean that all of them have practical value, of course...

Oh, and there is a third category of law in the old testament, no more meaningful today than the purity laws area. These are the civil laws of a kingdom that probably never existed and certainly does not exist today.

Eh, but that division itself isn't really in the Bible, though it's true that we're not bound to offer sacrifices at a temple that hasn't existed since 80 AD or such, nor by most Jewish laws. If you look at the thought at the time, you'll come up with Noahide laws which were laws for Gentiles, which to be fair were essentially moral laws like that against murder.

After Peter's vision of the sheet with animals and the council at Jerusalem which you can find in Acts 15 and Galatians, they adopted a modified version of these for the new Gentile believers rather than burden Christians with all of those laws that they were never really under to begin with due to being Gentiles.

As for sodomy, the Bible says that those who practice it will be thrown into a sickbed, so even back then people knew that anal sex was unhealthy. Go look up AIDS transmission rates for anal sex vs. vaginal and you'll see one example. This is why they used to call it GRID before the homos protested to get it renamed and why they stopped talking about monkeypox.

What is the purpose of Natural Evil? It is a callback, a restraint on Moral Evil. When we commit moral evil, we don't reflect on it. We commit it and it is as nothing evil happened. It's not a 1 for 1 exchange of Moral Evil for Natural Evil, but it is a limit on a person and their evil acts, if not in pain, in death. Typically, when someone commits Moral Evil another person will suffer Natural Evil. For example, if I work all day for a loaf of bread and you steal it, I suffer the pain of not eating, the pain is meant to have me reflect on Man's fallen state, including my own as I will demonstrate.

You realize the petty name calling does not equate "winning" right?

All it does is expose your maturity level and where you are at spiritually.

A better way to argue is to not say anything bad, but to tear someone's argument, position, or whatever apart. That's the sign of a skilled debater. Name calling is a substitution for debate when one cannot produce the goods. Many think if they come up with a witty insult it means they "win". Unfortunately, all that see the post only see someone who couldn't debate and therefore had to resort to name calling.

Up your game sir. It is lacking. Now go ahead and call me names and make sure it's a zinger that burns like a ghost pepper. Or you could use this as a learning opportunity to try and argue with people without all the name calling and insults. It takes practice, but it actually makes you a better debater and you can get under people's skin more. People expect insults and are accustomed to them. Not insulting them and focusing on exposing the faults of their logic makes them furious.

Food to think about anyways. Have a good night.

the scary thing about Romans 1 that most people miss is that it is showing what happens to a country when God gives them over to their own desires, instead of trying to hold them back like He usually does. Eventually, through their sin and rebellion against God, they make so clear to God that they don't want Him in their lives, that He says effectively "FINE. HAVE IT YOUR WAY." And this is what happens.

What does that say about America?

The first tip is Pastor Cathlynn Law. When women lead spiritual institutions, they have no time for theology, tradition or faithful practice. Instead, they want to things fun, exciting, catchy and preach their opinions as gospel truth. I bet Pastor Cathlynn Law has no idea that Jesus told the Apostles to take a sword with them to preach the good news.

The methodist church has been compromised for some time.

Matter of fact. Any church that has the star of remphan in their place of "worship?" Profiteering cults.

Pretty much. With that Sola Scriptura thing going on, pastor Cathlynn can pretty much preach whatever she wants and say the Bible tells her so.

The Methodists have lost their way. Of course it's in University Place. University town churches are often going to be bullshit.

lefties always say stupid thing like this and think they're being witty or deep. It goes to show ya, Democrat voters are democrats because they're stupid people voting the way they think smart people vote because the media told them so. They're just so cringe with the cutesy dumb sayings and the cultic chants.

But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Oh! Now I remember that Bible verse about when two men have guns that both of them have committed an abomination and they will surely be put to death.
