Toyota called it years ago. That's why they didnt want to shoot for fully electric. Instead, said theyd offer hybrid/electric versions of every model over time.

CEO back in like 2017ish said he saw them producing IC cars till 2050 at least. And they were the ones who first made hybrids (Prius)

I love my hybrids. 2 Prius' and now a Corolla. But they do tend to die sudden deaths when exposed to floods, even shallow ones. They don't like water.

Each of my last 4 vehicles were supposed to be my last. The first, a 2000 Ford F-350 Diesel became too expensive to maintain and fuel. The Prius' dies in hurricane street floods with nary a dent.

But I am ready for a plug in addition to the standard fossil fuel hybrid. Strictly 110 for an overnight charge since I already have an exterior outlet at my driveway. I'll never give up my fuel redundancy again.

But please, don't sell me on fake virtue when what I really want is economic efficiency.

You nailed it. > Fuel Redundancy >

Your energy companies are saying you are on your own. Have propane, gasoline, solar, and battery backup when the grid goes down. Be prepared

My electric generator uses natural gas or gasoline. I haven't had to use the gasoline because the natural gas has never gone down, but I like the option.

Plug ins are pretty awesome as long as they stay reliable. Not using fuel for much in town does save some money and long trips on gas (hybrid mode) still get generally much better mpg than non hybrids, loved ours (although I do like EV as well, but they are not the golden goose)

The problem is that the politicians making these decisions are pretty much all lawyers that have been chauffered around for years. They think they can decree changes to physical laws. They all live in the cities. I want these cocksuckers to drive through the prairies in the winter, from Denver to Detroit in an electric car.

These Politicians will be out of office and forgotten by the time their awful decisions take root.

Right. Theres a reason every intelligent company/ military is big on redundancy.

Yeah this is a disaster for US car companies. Especially GM which has a corporate governance that has basically transformed it's existence in being a cheerleader for the Dems.

They will be pushed into electric battery vehicles by DC, not under natural business evolution like Tesla. They will have a lot of pain, and buyers will be incredibly wary of getting a new GM or Ford battery powered car - just get another company's gas or hybrid vehicle that has a somewhat decent track record. Imagine Ford or GM having several years of having suddenly catastrophic sales, because it could happen very soon.

If they stick to that no gas by 2000-whatever it WILL happen. The infrastructure and technology just isnt practical yet. But we all know the real reason they want less cars on the road. Same reason they chip away every other freedom.

Only a complete fool thinks electric vehicles are technologically at a point to replace gasoline powered vehicles. Even Elon Musk has repeatedly stated that we are not at a point to be able to eliminate gasoline powered vehicles. Try making a coast to coast trip in an electric car and see how long it takes you and please do it in the summer when you will need a/c for most of the trip. Then come back here and post your nightmares.

Last year, was anyone else getting emails about buying shares of Ford because it was primed to double? I was able to double my money on Ford and get out the year before, lol
