Scientific American used to be a great magazine but it went woke 20+ years ago starting with "man caused" global climate change. I cancelled my subscription way back then.
When I first started trying to read SA back in the 1980s, I couldn't understand a lot of it. Over the years I found I could understand more and more. I thought I must be getting smarter but when I looked at the old issues I realized SA was being dumbed down. Then they started throwing woke shit in and that was it for me. Sad.
My parents had some old Time magazines from the mid-1960s. Densely packed columns of text, ten page in-depth articles, extended quotes from primary sources, no pictures more than two inches or so, and no color pictures at all, besides the cover. You could probably invest a whole solid day in reading it.
They learned from Joseph Goebbels that dumb propaganda works best. Basically training people to think stupidly. Combining that with the "illusion of truth effect," and you get NPCs easily programmed by headlines and fake news repeated daily.
I finally watched the movie Idiocracy a couple of month ago, and the retarded commercials that popped up while I was watching it could have been from the movie itself. The absurdity shown in the movie highlighted the absurdity of modern advertising.
LOL, in the 70s, I tried to use an article from Newsweek in a debate, in HS. My teacher said that I couldn't, because Newsweek was a Conservative magazine!
I remember watching open-heart/brain/etc surgeries on TLC wayyy back. As a child I loved it and it actually helped me get past some of the "gross" stuff of the body. Now we have TikTokTwerk sluts in hospitals. Jesus...we're ready for you.
That’s a good point. They really did use to air surgical imagery with explanations on TLC. Very clinical and edifying. Then they really pivoted hard to highlighting the lives of freak shows
The Duggar family being one of them.
The eldest son is now serving over a decade in prison for possession of CSAM; he also molested some of his sisters and a family friend.
Scientific advancement in numerous areas of study within the West is essentially dead or even regressing. She is a perfect example of that. This probably is yet another reason to compound onto why many nations in the West will probably fail and collapse in the coming decades.
We are starting to mimic the Ottomans. We are becoming the old man civilization of the world. Just waiting for the inevitable fall.

Hmm. I've never considered the Chinese to be particularly creative or innovative. Persistent, taking the long view, stumbling across an occasional discovery over centuries, but not rapidly advancing science.
Meh, dark age coming. The whole civilization and advancement of knowledge and understanding thing will go dormant. The torch won't be passed. It'll just go out. Maybe some ways down the road someone will re invent a torch and light it.
I fear we've entered a twilight period that will only see a resurgence after the dead weight has died off during a long and dark night. Then it can all be started fresh without so many free loaders. But as happened with this cycle it'll only be a matter of time before the civilized places become known for a better standard of living and a new batch of thieves and trespassers take control and piss it all away again.
There was a point in Rome when the path to power was oratory. Basically one got into an elite slot through bullshit and bluff, not competence or result. The people who built Rome and the people who later inherited it and subsequently ran it into the ground had little in common.
I don't think we'll be a unipolar world anymore. Probably numerous powers. China, India, etc. But for sure expect the US to lose dominance in many fields we once took for granted.
Same here. I've been packing up to move and found a whole bunch of my old copies from the '80s and '90s. Such a damn shame what they did to that institution.
I literally never used hand sanitizer once, the entire pandemic. Actually, I did one time, right at the start of the pandemic (pre lockdowns, start of March 2020) when a stranger literally shook everyone's parade at a sports event I was at. Yeah. One time! LOL
I believe it. I am also of the belief that the people that use the most sunscreen probably get the most skin cancer. Never bothered to look up the numbers on that, it's just a hunch.
I remember. It was noticeable that through all the vaccine hysteria and in all the hundreds of articles about it, I've never, ever seen the jabs described as 'immunizations'.
Actually, they are now saying my polio vaccine isn't effective anymore. And tetanus has always required boosters.
But as soon as they found treatments paid better than cures or prevention, that's where all the money goes except for studies to dismiss anything which might actually work.
Someone asked her if there was a new booster or was she getting a 2nd dose of the same one. This was here insane response: "Just getting another dose of the bivalent booster. Good stuff!"
WHAT THE FUCK. Every couple of months?!!! Even if the jabs were perfectly safe (they aren't), that's way, way too much stress to place on your body with adjuvants etc.

This is the current homepage of the FDA website. It acts like a cheerleading/marketing arm of pharma companies, not a regulatory agency. By promoting these shots, it has (among other reasons) hopelessly conflicted itself from later admitting these products have serious issues.

So, she's saying the point is to keep taking the jab until she dies of some other cause, like stroke or heart attack? She is right, that IS the point of the jab. I don't think she's thought the rest through though.

It was already dead by the 90’s.

Welcome to Costco, I love you.
Baitin’!
I watched it when it was fairly new, and the culture in Idiocracy seemed utterly absurd. Now it just seems like a light parody.
It became a documentary on Today

That rag went leftist decades ago. Dropped it by 1990
If the new standard was to give the jabs directly in the eyes.... This one would still be doing it.
Spinal tap. These commies would line up for a spinal tap.
One shot good, 6 shots better.
One shot, one kill. Don't waste ammo.
lts never wasteful if you have enough ammo and a point to make
If you want to make a point and instill fear one shot is the way to go. See: Carlos Hathcock.
Better to bury you my pretty...

Pretty tragic loss there. That was a fun magazine.
Oh nose!!
Magazines like Science and Scientific American are pure propaganda, hammering "the message" into the minds of the readers.

A question: which culture will replace western man?
The Chinese, obviously.
Hmm. I've never considered the Chinese to be particularly creative or innovative. Persistent, taking the long view, stumbling across an occasional discovery over centuries, but not rapidly advancing science.
Sure, but western man is declining in a rather extreme fashion. The Chinese won't have to particularly excel to become the dominant world power.

Myocarditis
Or turbocancer
Hopefully both
Based.
Or just plain old.....died suddenly.
Remember when they pretended there wasn't such a thing as 'natural immunity' and that masks worked? But only if both people wore masks?
Remember when they were trying to get us to double mask and wear goggles?
Remember when they said not having symptoms was the scariest symptom of all?
Ahaha, asymptomatic transmission. I had to call BS on that to my family, but they were still alarmed.
And they insisted to me that you can TRANSMIT an illness BEFORE you show symptoms. To which I said "Yes but not if you NEVER develop symptoms!"
Craziest thing I ever saw, people believing that someone without symptoms could somehow still be termed sick, if a PCR 'test' said they were sick!
I literally never used hand sanitizer once, the entire pandemic. Actually, I did one time, right at the start of the pandemic (pre lockdowns, start of March 2020) when a stranger literally shook everyone's parade at a sports event I was at. Yeah. One time! LOL
Apparently they add cancer causing chemicals to hand sanitizer. I just use 70% alcohol from the store. Some people mix aloe gel and alc.
I believe it. I am also of the belief that the people that use the most sunscreen probably get the most skin cancer. Never bothered to look up the numbers on that, it's just a hunch.
Remember when "two more weeks" was mocking Fauxi and wasn't a leftist forum slide tactic whenever election fraud came up?

It must be hard to see a family member so mired in leftism that they're actively hurting themselves. Hopefully they'll both see sense soon.
I don't believe you but then again, why would I doubt a lefty being that retarded?
I know - I know of a few that are also that retarded. I believe you. I just don't believe the world.
That's very amusing. At least she's saving a few senile old folks.
Ooo that’s a particularly rough one to get, especially more than once.
