All of them pander and do this kind of charity gimmick to try and run publicity. They try to do the whole inverted celebrity news anchors where they're "one of us" so hard, they pay their anchors to do field work shilling for their company the entire time. All my local news stations force their employees to celebrate the demographic of the month: pride month, black history, women's, hispanic, etc, there is zero creativity behind the directors of these studios. The funny part is the people who make the programming all have next to no experience. I personally knew one and know of many others who are floor directors for a stations who are all under the age 30. In the real world that would be impossible, but I suppose that these days all that matters is content creation, hence why you see these types of things.
I can understand wanting to do charity work, but good Lord this is probably the most shallow, tone deaf gesture of goodwill I may have ever seen. She should make a T-shirt that says, "My sister died and my house burned down, and all I got was this crappy ABC News umbrella."
It literally borders on psychopathic with how tone deaf this is. The person that wrote this is most likely a mentally disturbed person. Businesses, people are not obligated to give charity, that is not the issue here. The issue is that considering the tragedies, the depth of sadness, that they consider an umbrella with the ABC logo on it and gracing this woman with their presence, is charity. That is like after witnessing someone get hit by a car, and instead of helping them up, I reach behind and rip out an ass hair, give it to them, then expect a thankyou in response, while they are drowning in their own blood.
