Have you tried an accountability partner? Bringing these things that exist in the shadows more into the open can help shine a new light on it and give us the impetus to quit
You find yourself saying he will forgive me don't you? That's what I used to tell myself when I gave in to desires. Let me share a few scriptures with you.
God blesses those who patiently endure testing and temptation. Afterward they will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. And remember, when you are being tempted, do not say, “God is tempting me.” God is never tempted to do wrong, and he never tempts anyone else. Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away. These desires give birth to sinful actions. And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
James 1:12-15
So James was writing to us to tell us that these temptations come from our desires, and when we give in it pulls us away from God. When we are separated from God it leads to spiritual death. So how do we deal with these desires? How do we quench a flame that burns so intensely?
But God’s truth stands firm like a foundation stone with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and “All who belong to the Lord must turn away from evil.” In a wealthy home some utensils are made of gold and silver, and some are made of wood and clay. The expensive utensils are used for special occasions, and the cheap ones are for everyday use. If you keep yourself pure, you will be a special utensil for honorable use. Your life will be clean, and you will be ready for the Master to use you for every good work. Run from anything that stimulates youthful lusts. Instead, pursue righteous living, faithfulness, love, and peace. Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.
2 Timothy 2:19-22 NLT
Paul gives Timothy a glimpse of what to do here. Keep ourselves pure. Run from anything that stimulates our desires, and if we do that, we will remain pure and ready to work for the Master who bought us with his blood. I know that this is all easier said than done, but you have taken a bold first step. James outlines it here.
Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results.
James 5:16 NLT
So, from scripture I've pointed out two steps, one you've just done, confess. The other is run from things that stimulate your desires. Now for the third, the most important piece.
The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.
1 Corinthians 10:13 NLT
So with this third, you can see, God is faithful to keep us from falling into temptation. The only catch is, we have to yield ourselves to him. You may ask, how?
“When you pray, don’t babble on and on as the Gentiles do. They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and again. Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this: Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy. May your Kingdom come soon. May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven. Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us. And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
Matthew 6:7-13 NLT
I'm dead serious, if you find yourself being thirst trapped on YouTube or TikTok or when your typing in your favorite porn site, take a moment and pray. God is faithful, and he will deliver you from your wreck less path. And remember, blueballs will be nothing compared to the shame you feel when you disappoint Christ.
Love you brother, and know that there is hope. I used to be just like you, addicted and ashamed.
The most harmful thing modern society has tried to convince us is that pornography does no harm. It harms us far beyond the spiritual. It destroys the motivational parts of your brain, and completely decimates your bond with real human partners. Not to mention that it conditions you to view another human life as a tool for pleasure, which is why oversexualized societies trend towards violence.
It will destroy your masculinity and humanity if you let it.
So the most important step is to first fully understand the complete extend of the damage it does to you.
Second is to observe how much better of a man you are when you detox from it. You will find yourself more motivated in general, more focused, and you will notice the bond with any female partner in your life strengthen exponentially.
Third is to ensure you have a continuous reminder of the Lord's presence. Look up the Alexander Scourby audiobook readings of the bible. Job, Proverbs, and Psalms are often great to work with.
And by the way you do NOT suck at being Christian.
Part of being Christian is understanding that we are all flawed. Each and every one of us has struggles that we have a responsibility to identify and overcome. That is the rewarding part of life. The freedom to make mistakes, and the satisfaction of overcoming them.
You have identified that pornography is doing you harm, that is the first step. Most people today have convinced themselves of the lie that pornography is healthy and trivializing sexual intimacy is without consequence. So by simply acknowledging that it is harmful and needs to be cut out of your life you are already in the top percentile.
Now begins the journey of overcoming. In many ways this is the very essence of Christianity. The most un-Christian thing you could do would be the opposite, it would be to assume you are flawless and without sin.
Being a Christian means knowing and accepting you are a fallen and flawed creature. It's admitting no matter how righteous you may be, you will always fall short of the glory of God. The fact you feel guilt from your sin tells me the Holy Spirit is in you, nagging at your soul. Pray for forgiveness and strength and it will improve.
This may sound harsh, or it may sound flippant, but I am convinced you need to find another church. One with a strong Holy Spirit movement and one where the pastor provides a godly example that will spur you and challenge you to up your walk and will teach you how to be victorious in Jesus instead of remaining in your old ways.
But that being said, everybody who is willing to admit the truth will also say that they suck being a Christian. Even the apostle Paul said he's the worst sinner of all.
But our walk isn't about ourselves. It is about the grace of God. That grace begins with forgiveness, but it also works to pull us out of our sins. That's why Paul, the worst sinner, also was able to say that he wishes us to follow his example and do the things that he does.
Just imagine that every time you masturbate God is sitting in the room watching you. Every nasty video you watch, every creepy noise you make, every weird look on your face. Imagine he sees it all up close and personal.
Now realize that this isn't your imagination. He actually does see you doing all that perverted stuff and He is somewhat less than thrilled about it.
Lets just break it down it's not the Porn, that is just the path. It's really about the orgasm and shame and guilt.
First off Masturbation is not a Sin, give yourself some slack on that. Second why would God Create us so our Privates are in reach? You got to laugh at it otherwise it controls you with guilt. That is the first step cause when you really look at porn it is actually kind of silly, and unrealistic.
Anyway as far as the Lusting goes ask yourself if you are really Lusting or just beating your meat like it owes you money? Is life kind of hard in the moment, no pun intended, then maybe you need a clarity wank to get your mind in order instead of being distracted by your sex drive. The Porn thing is easy, Find another Sexual outlet. Paul says if you're burning find a wife. 1 Cornth 7:8-9 or an intimate partner that you can dedicate your life to.
It's okay to use your imagination to find what gets you there because that lets you know what you would like to try "in the bedroom" who you would like to try it with, and what you are sexually attracted to. Hell keep a spank log, look at it like research for yourself. From the pattern you described it doesn't sound like your addicted to Porn but your body is seeking a release, and that is a good thing. It actually helps prevent Prostate Cancer in Men. Don't approach this issue with shame, that is the weak minded approach and the real spiritual warfare. Instead own it and your sexuality, cause your future partner will thank you because if you know how to get where you need to go you can focus more on them and that is a key to great Sex.
Lol stop. Jesus Christ died for your sins pal, you know this man. All you gotta do is accept Christ and you've accepted his gift
While it may feel morally repugnant to spank it, I assure you there are many magnitudes of far worse evil being expounded daily on innocent people across the world. I would hope Jesus could accept what little expounding you have to do in your pants lol
Romans 6:1-2
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
Quit your job at the FBI, things will improve afterwards.
this is pretty funny right here
You actually made me laugh
Admitting to yourself, to God, and to others is a huge step. Takes courage. Good job.
Hang in there, and keep improving.
Don't worry the older you get the less horny you are.
Just kidding you'll be checking out the nurse's ass from your death bed.
whatever your vice... one day at a time. Jesus forgives.
Sell your TV, put your computer in the closet, get a dumb phone. I don't think we're wired to resist the new temptations of this age
Go for a run/walk instead.
GOD bless you brother.
Philippians 4:13
I can do all things through Christ

Bump for accountability, how you holding up buddy?
Talk to your pastor, someone in your church you respect with authority. You need to let someone hold you accountable.
