Love Trump, but it is true that he shit the bed by not being more vocal about the disgraceful truth that there are political prisoners being held in the United States.
I know what you're saying, but this was in the immediate aftermath of J6, and the Antifa/FBI/Capitol Police "set up" nature of the event wasn't commonly known yet, you had an impeachment underway, you had a mainstream news bullshit narrative that the J6ers killed 5 cops in an attempted coup and that Trump was personally responsible for their deaths, you had rumblings that McConnell and the rest were open to finding a way to waive his sovereign immunity somehow in order to both imprison him and his family and financially ruin them, and that they were threatening him about pardons for J6ers and Snowden/Assange. Had he pardoned them, he would be in jail now, no question.
Things were very different mid-January. In retrospect, it's harder to see why he didn't do a mass pardon of J6ers and Snowden/Assange, but when you think back to the context of the last weeks of his Presidency, it's easy to understand why he didn't.
You also didn't yet have reports of the D.C. gulag and severe mistreatment of the "prisoners", and you didn't have hundreds of arrests of grandmas who were just walking through the Capitol after being waved in by police. That started in February or March.
He didn't even try to whip votes to impeach Trump when Trump didn't free Assange/Snowden and pardon the J6ers. There are 15-20 RINOs in the Senate who will vote however Mitch tells them to. You've seen their group photos whenever something like the infrastructure, stimulus or omnibus bills get passed.
Again, impeachment would have been the least of his worries - the DOJ (with RINO permission) would have imprisoned and impoverished him. At that point, the Deep State thought that they had "defeated" Trump once and for all and just wanted him to go away, "legacy in tatters" due to the "horrors" of J6.
Notice how the Mar-a-Lago raid and all of these new investigations only cropped up after he announced he was running again?
McConnell HIMSELF didn't vote for impeachment, and gave plenty of rhetorical cover during the trial for RINOs who also voted no. And this was in the immediate aftermath of his scorched earth comments after J6 - he was way angrier than McCarthy.
McConnell despises Trump, and he could have (unfortunately) pretty easily whipped another 9 RINO votes if he needed to:
It seemed pretty clear to most observers at the time that a deal was worked out.
That's beside the point, though. Again, the main problem wasn't impeachment, it was DOJ immediately trying to imprison and bankrupt him (with Republican cover) like they are getting ready to do right now.
The same couple-dozen RINOs who vote for Mitch's dogshit every time, when he makes is clear he wants them to and actually bothers to whip votes - let alone vote himself for the issue in question.
Again, impeachment is beside the point. The main issue was the DOJ crushing him. If they are talking about waiving his sovereign immunity and eventually did raid his lawyers and his house, we're in an extra-judicial realm well beyond self-pardoning.
First stone toss I don't like.
But there is a little truth to it. Trump has mentioned the J6ers, that they are not treated fairly but hasn't taken any action to help them
I don’t believe that’s what is being implied. I believe that the message is that those with the courage to “help” are already incarcerated. If you’re free, you’re not likely to do more than post inane comments that do nothing but foment more angst amongst like-minded people. Once you’ve posted enough to identify as someone “likely to help”, you’ll, too, be arrested.
They didn’t re-create the wheel with this strategy…..political dissidents have been jailed by oppressive regimes since the dawn of western civilization.
"One combatant can perform many of them, without having to turn to collaborators or having to make a detailed plan beforehand. These are acts that can be done practically in an improvised way every time an occasion presents itself... However, necessary caution should be taken, and only when the task requires it, should another person or persons participate in or have knowledge of a given act..." - The Freedom Fighter's Manual
Pretty savage.

True.
McConnell didn't have the votes to impeach Trump.

McConnell didn't have the votes, not even close. He would need 16 I think.
Trump should have pardoned the j6ers then himself.
Mccarthy said trump was responsible for j6 but was back at maralago 2 weeks later kissing the ring.
You are underestimating the control Trump has on the gop.

Who are the 9 votes?
Trump could have pardoned himself.

It's fair.
Still voting Trump 2024.

I think it’s helpful criticism. He could be saying more to defend his supporters but It’s not an easy issue to address
True words cut the hardest
what's there to not like.
not where it would have counted - his list of pardons.
Inaccurate. They don't get to watch TV in solitary confinement.
It's okay you aren't the first to be triggered by a a Stonetoss comic you won't be the last.
Accurate.
Spicy! Where's Lil Wayne when you need him.
Protest the arrest of those arrested unfairly for... Protesting?
I'd be scared to send my supporters into another trap, too.
Way to blame Trump for being cheated out of his second term, by the enemies of our country and us.

The cia was good for something after all
stonetoss seems too complicated for you. have you tried puppet shows?
I rest my case; thanks for your service. Without keyboard heroes like you, we would have no chance of being made or staying free.
No, you can go to your "puppet shows" or whatever you're calling your routine outings jerking off other men.
